Yes, they have been waging jihad for months now, but these new declarations emphasize that the struggle must continue even now that Iraq is sovereign. From AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
KUWAIT CITY (AP) - Followers of Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi released a CD-ROM urging Muslim men to take up arms against the "crusaders" in Iraq and threatening to kill Iraq's interim prime minister....Titled "The Winds of Victory," the recording shows fighters purportedly from al-Zarqawi's Tawhid and Jihad group undergoing weapons training in different locations, some apparently in the desert and others in grassy areas. It also contains footage taken from inside cars following militants in Iraq conducting attacks, some of which has been previously aired by TV stations.
The Kuwaiti newspaper said the professionally produced CD-ROM is being circulated among fundamentalists in this oil-rich country, which borders Iraq.
A narrator on the film urges Muslim men to join the fight against U.S.-led forces in Iraq, saying "get up friends, God has opened the doors of paradise (to martyrs)."
The CD-ROM also repeats Tawhid and Jihad's threat to kill Ayad Allawi, the interim Iraqi prime minister, saying, "You escaped ... several times from tight traps, but we promise you to go on (trying) until the end."...
"Whenever I remember our ... sisters in the prisons of the crusaders ... I feel the earth moving underneath me and I promise God to take revenge," the narrator on the CD-ROM.

Brilliant. More proof that the American "honeypot" strategy is working. The jihadies are prisoners of their own ideology in that they are compelled to respond to the presence of the Americans who have set up shop in the very heart of the defunct islamic empire. And it appears that the Yanks are going to stay for awhile and who knows for how long. The Japanese occupation officially lasted some 30 years but to this day the Americans have Army, Navy and Air Force bases that they "lease" from Japan just like the lease from Cuba for Gitmo.
So to the jihadie faithful around the globe, President Bush personally invites you all to do your sacred duty and travel to Baghdad and fulfill your destiny. How can you resist? The USMC morning chow lines are serving bacon and eggs, in Baghdad! Shocking.
The American honeypot strategy will never work because Muslims don't want to change their ideology. They will continue to take our largesse and then use the proceeds to buy weapons to attack and subdue us for the purpose of creating an Islamic world.
This isn't rocket science. Any fool should be able to recognize their motives and understand that giving them weapons and money is contributing to an eventual attack against us. It's cultural suicide.
Some elaboration on the honeypot strategy appears to be in order. Honeypots are used by military strategists to lure the enemy into a confined geography and then give them enough freedom to operate in a way that poses minimum threat to friendly forces. By allowing the enemy to operate within the perimeter of the honeypot in response to carefully planned and executed friendly probes, the enemy by its own action then teaches the commanders of the friendlies all about the enemy's tactics, numerical strengths, aramaments, and logistics. Honeypots are like roach motels. The roaches check in, but they can't check out.
On a tactical level, Fallujah is a perfect example of a classic honeypot. On a strategic level, the whole of Iraq serves the purpose.
If you look carefully at all of the speeches given by President Bush that he has delivered to US military audiences in the last two years, it is easy to see that the Iraq campaign was designed from the beginning as an expression of the classic strategic honeypot. He repeatedly states in speech after speech that the war in Iraq is part of the overall strategy in the war on terrorism. He says to the service men and women that when they face the enemy overseas, the American civilians don't have to face them at home. And if you think about that really hard, you'll see that he's right.
The honeypot doctrine is especially effective against jihadies. While the Russians were getting pounded by the jihadies in Afghanistan, the Americans were standing on the sidelines taking copious notes. From it the Americans learned that to be effective, you have to take the fight directly to the enemy. When you arrive in their backyard you have to poke them in the eye real hard and then put out the word that you're here to stay. Jihadies have no choice but to respond. For them it is a sacred duty. So you set up the honeypot in a god-forsaken patch of desert, far from the American shores, and stir them up. And when they come out of their spiderholes or begin to swarm into the trap from neighboring countries, you greet them with a professional army with tanks and C3I, Marine snipers, Air Force AC130 Spectres, Navy Seals, and hosts of killing machines and technology that is unknown to anyone except those who employ it and those who experience its fury in their last moments on the planet.
That's a honeypot.

believe Zarqawi DIED months ago and his group are using his name in the hope of making him a Bogeyman. There can't be too many one legged men hopping around Iraq,can there!! Boo Hoo...wanted that 25 million dollar reward...
i know that the people who made that CD might not (all) be from Kuwait, i also know that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (if it's really him) is a Jordanian. What i find truly shocking that this CD is being circulated in Kuwait, calling them to help their Iraqi brothers. It's irrelevant that just over a decade ago Iraq attack them and murdered many of them, it's irrelevant that the Americans liberated them, they can now call for their murder with a staight face, to help the very Iraqis who murdered scores of them a decade ago. I suppose honesty is just in the dictionary over there.
