Al-Zarqawi's Message to the Fighters of Jihad in Iraq on September 11, 2004

A new audiotape from Zarqawi, just in from MEMRI:

Al-Zarqawi's speech is delivered in a high style of classical Arabic. Many of the sentences are in rhymed prose, inlaid with Koranic verses and poetry. The speech singles out Iraq's Prime Minister Iyad Allawi as a primary target. It is addressed to the Jihad fighters in Iraq, and in particular to the foreign volunteers.

The tone of the speech seems to suggest that it is intended to encourage the fighters, who have sustained great losses, and to restore their faith in the ultimate victory. Some of the expressions used by Al-Zarqawi - such as "a call for help from the deep" - may hint at the state of distress of the fighters, which prompted the speech.

According to Al-Zarqawi, the war in Iraq is against a "tri-partite Satanic alliance of heresy and deceit" of Americans, Kurds, and Shi'ites: "The first are the Americans who carry the banner of the cross; the second are the Kurds through their pashmerga forces, which are reinforced by Jewish military cadres under the command of the two collaborators, [Massoud Al-] Barzani and [Jalal Al-] Talabani; the third are the Shi'ites, the Sunnis' enemies, represented by the army of treachery ... the Party of Satan.

"The traitor Allawi is today their tool, and the lion's share of our arrows are for him, Allah willing."

Al-Zarqawi explains that the real aim of the U.S. is not the conquest of Najaf, but rather the Sunni Triangle. He says that America was defeated and humiliated by the Muslim warriors: "This is the brotherhood of Jihad, both Muhajireen and Ansar [i.e., both foreign volunteers and native Iraqis].(3) The other ones, who led the international alliance to drink the draught of humiliation..."

Al-Zarqawi calls upon young Muslims in Iraq and in every Muslim country to join the Jihad in Iraq. He also calls upon the Islamic nation not to be deceived by Western propaganda and by those who echo it in Muslim countries.

Al-Zarqawi calls on the Muslims to rise from their slumber and to unite against the infidels who offend their honor: "Here, the Abu Ghreib prison is in front of you - go ahead and ask it.

"As for you, fighters who came from afar, by Allah, missions of da'wa [the propagation of Islam] have never been a road lined with roses and sweet basil; the price of da'wa missions is heavy, and the price of bringing principles to the land of reality is a lot of torn limbs and blood. The light of dawn shall not be lit in this darkness save by Jihad fighters and shahids."

Note the close connection he makes between da'wa, the proclamation of Islam, and its next stage, jihad against those who have refused.

chapters 37 and 38 of ezekiel in the bible describe
a future invasion of israel by certain countries.

if this invasion is describing moslem countries, (which is highly likely),then we can take great hope in that the Lord intervenes on behalf of israel and delivers the islamic nations a severe setback at the least.

Sun Tzu:

Seize something he cherishes and he will conform to your desires.

Carl von Clausewitz:

It is against that part of the enemy's forces where they are most concentrated that, if a blow were to occur, the effect would emanate the furthest; furthermore, the greater the mass our own forces possess when they deliver the blow, the more certain we can be of the blow's success. This simple logic brings us to an analogy that enables us to grasp the idea more clearly, namely, the nature and effect of a center of gravity in the mechanical sciences.

Baghdad is the capital of the defunct Islamic empire, the seat of the moribund caliphate. It is also the geographic center of the empire's greatest extent, lands that the jihadis consider Islamic forever. So it is the perfect jihadi honeypot, or as some strategists call it, "flypaper".

If Iraq has been thoroughly searched, and disarmed, further use of American soldiers to suppress the Zargawis of this world is not a wonderful chance, as some thing, to use Iraq as a "honey pot," but at this point (and for some months) has been a misallocation of resources. If the Iraqis actually care enough to fight to defend their own country, it is they who should be taking the casualties, they who should be suppressing it (surely in all of Iraq an army of 100,000 men could be formed). Instead, one finds even the websites of "good Iraqis" (with the heartwarming stories of normalacy) all about the hundreds of thousands of new cares, the nightlife at cafes, and so on -- to anyone with relatives in Iraq, absolutely infuriating. Apparently the Arabs of Iraq (the Kurds are doing quite well, thank you, and Kirkuk is bustling in a way that no other part of Iraq is) think yet again that they can expect America to supply them with tens of billions of dollars in aid, and it is the American soldiers who will fight and die in order to make a better Iraq. It is a classic case, even among the best Iraqis, of "wake me when it's over." This attitude has not gone unnoticed by American soldiers, officers, nor the families of those soldiers. It is nauseating. Nor has the primitive, credulous (you know -- insisting that a suicide-bomb was really from an American airplane, a feature of a credulous, all-too-willing to blame-the-Americans essentially hostile population. There is a thin slice at the top -- the admirable Allawi (relatively speaking) among them -- who, having lived abroad as refugees from Saddam Hussein, have some real appreciation for what the United States has done. But how thin that layer, and how easily swept aside it will be.

Iraq is not a "honey pot" but now consumes a great many resources -- men, materiel, money, and attention -- that might at this point be much better spent elsewhere. After all, now that Saddam Hussein has gone, it is impossible to ask the Americans to make peace between the Arabs and the legitimately suspicious and resentful Kurds, or between the Shi'a and the Sunni. If Iraq has these permanent problems, that may not be a bad thing: divide and conquer is the oldest rule of warfare. The "Somalia solution" -- you don't hear too much about Somalia these days, do you, for it has lapsed into permanent anarchy, which from the Infidel point of view is just fine.

Less reliance on the use of military, much more reliance on other instruments of warfare, including some attempt to support those Europeans who have been betrayed by their own leaders (Chirac, Schroder) and the EU bureaucracy (Solana, Prodi, and of course the egregious Chris Patten, with his supercilious and plummy attempts to lecture "the Americans" about their failure to understand history, when under his very eyes, Europe is being islamized, perhaps permanently, seemingly helpless to stop it, a policy permitted, and then aided and abetted, by the very Euro-Arab Dialogue and the attitudes and atmospherics it has given rise to, that Patten himself promotes on every occasion. What a silly man.

There are three goals to work towards:

1) Education of people in the Infidel world as to the main tenets of Islam, not the Five Pillars of individual worship, but the single loyalty to the umma al-islammiyya, the inculcated contempt and hatred for all Infidels, the doctrine of Jihad, the institution of dhimitude imposed, through 1350 years of history, on all non-Muslims living in lands subjugated by Islam -- so that the nonsense that an army of apologists, consisting of both the remarkably ignorant and the remarkably cunning, is no longer accepted by the unthinking, the credulous, and those with an urge to deny what is staring them in the face.

2)keep all major weaponry out of the hands of all Muslim polities and peoples. That means no more arms-buying sprees by the U.A.U., Saudi Arabia, Kuwait -- or, at the very least, make sure all major weaponry has been fiddled with so that, when appropriate, it can be rendered inoperative by the Western sellers of such goods

3) tied to 1), work to end all Muslim migration to the Lands of the Infidels, to have Muslim non-citizens expelled, and to introduce the kind of legislation which will provide a basis for expelling citizens who, it is shown, owe their sole loyalty not to the Infidel nation-state, because such is impossible in their belief-system, but to the umma al-islamiyya.

The current policy, of a "Light Unto the Muslim Nations," is silly. It will not work. It cannot work. The most effective constraints on Islam have come not from democrats, but from enlightened despots -- Bourguiba, Mohammad V of Morocco, Shah Reza Pahlavi, and of course Ataturk. Democracy in the Muslim world tends to end with things like the Islamic Republic of Iran. The aim should be to show, to the Muslims themselves, the full political, economic, intellectual, and moral failure of Islam. This will be easiest to do with non-Arab Muslims, many of whom have resentments against the Arabs, resentments that can be exploited. It will be most difficult with Arabs, because their amour-propre is so entangled with the very idea of Islam, that even Christian Arabs (save for discrete groups such as Copts and Maronites) often find themselves defending Islam (Edward Said comes to mind) whether or not they really kknow anything about it -- they sense that their "Arabness" is too connected to Islam for them not to defend the latter. Filial piety, embarrassment, and fear all play their part.

I tried to turn a friend on to this site today. Unfortunately, she wears glasses, and said after many attempts is still unable to penetrate the ridiculous string of numbers and letters required to register.

What a frustrating crock of shit to go through.

"Hearts and minds.

I guess we all agree that hatred is probably the main precursor of violence, so a full understanding for this unpleasant feeling is needed if we we’re looking for a way to end the violence, and finding answers for questions like: why hatred appeared? when did it begin for the first time? what are the related factors? and who contributed in provoking hatred? Is a key step in curing hatred.

As the world is living the 3rd memorial of the 9/11 attacks, the BBC opened a forum for Arab readers to allow them to voice their feelings about the “hatred wave against America”. This time the forum has a special significance because Arabs are directly related to this topic and the largest part of this “wave” comes from Arab countries.
I’ve found that all Iraqi participants (except for two) carry no hatred for America, not to mention the admiration and gratitude for America that were clear in some Iraqis’ comments.

Anyway, I decided to translate most of the comments posted by Iraqis along with some of the Arabs’ comments that caught my attention so that you can view some opinions that can rarely be seen in the media and I decided not to translate any of the offensive comments which you can find almost everywhere. I must add that most of these posters with offensive comments said that their comments were directed “against the American government, not the people”.

“America is not an enemy of Arabs and Muslims, on the contrary, on many occasions she backed Muslims when other Muslims did nothing like in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq. America helped us get rid of the worst dictatorship in history and despite the unstable security situation now in Iraq we breath freely and say whatever we want to say without fear from Saddam and his dogs
I was-and still-working as a teacher and Saddam was paying me 2 dollars a month, can you imagine that? while he paid thousands and thousands to his followers. Things now are much better for me and I feel grateful for America and the coalition for what they did to save us”
Amjad Al Ubaidy -Baghdad/Iraq.

“The Americans are peaceful and smart people. Unfortunately, this hatred was created by some clerics who try to brain-wash the youth every Friday after the prayers so many would go out with hatred in their hearts and anger toward America”
Reemon A’adil Sammi-Iraq.

“The truth is that people who encourage the dialogue and call for friendship with the US are the people who have reached a conclusion that the era of arrogance, fake heroism, ridiculous Baáthist
slogans and Arab stubbornness that made Arabs the most backward among nations, has come to an end. It’s enough to acknowledge that the economy of a European country such as Spain is stronger than the economy of the Arab countries collectively. The pro-American youth are the best and the most educated while those who consider them traitors can bring only death and doom.”
Yugene-Baghdad/Iraq.

“First of all I’d like to send my condolences to our American friends on the third memorial day for the terrorist attacks. And I send my condolences too to my Iraqi fellow citizens who have been suffering from terrorism every day and every hour for nearly two years on the hands of people who hide behind slogans of religion and patriotism.
I call all Iraqis to build strong relations with the Americans. Hatred has to be eradicated especially between Iraq and USA (if ever existed) and between Arabs and USA in general.
The false slogans of Arab nationalism that emerge here and there calling people to hate America are all against the interests of our people. We followed these slogans for decades and look what we’ve ended up with; poor countries ruled by dictators. We must head to the other side and hopefully we can find our goal there and put an end to the poverty and oppression that are ruining our nation”
Mohammed Abu kelel-Najaf/Iraq.

“The Arab youths are living under cultural, religious and even sexual repression while people in the West enjoy all aspects of freedom and this motivates the Arabs to immigrate to the US or Europe to be able to live in a civilized environment but unfortunately most immigrants fail to merge with the western communities because of the effect of the religious heritage they accumulated since childhood therefore they tend to establish a closed Islamic-Arab community in America or Europe and this will eventually lead to a conflict between the two cultures”
Mohammed Othman-Syria.

“I had finished my studies in America and lived there for years and I sensed how advanced is that country but I was shocked when I returned back to my country to see how the governments are humiliating our people. I chanted anti-American slogans against my will and I long for living there again and I’m sure that some of those who have spoke against America on this forum wouldn’t mind living in America in spite of all the hatred their words contained”
Hisham-Cairo.

“I believe the West has a lot of good qualities for which we should show respect and love and perhaps its being a shelter for runaways from oppression and poverty in our Arab countries is the most admirable thing.
Arabs’ hatred towards America is primarily attributed to the political and religious system in Arab countries which is feeding this hatred because of the belief that any proximity between Arab and American people would weaken its (the system’s) position among its people. The losing party from this hatred remains the Arab people that needs the West’s help in many fields while the West needs us in very few ones and that’s why who opposes the West is in fact opposing his own interests.
The question remains: shall we let the hatred provokers use us?”
Mohammed-Baghdad.

“The problem lies inside us, the Arabs; whether governors or citizens. We’re still living the era of backwardness, ignorance and crying for the past. We don’t understand how decisions are made in America and the defect is within ourselves.
I’m a big admirer of America and the progress that America had achieved in such a short period.
One more thing, those who offend America must not forget that it was America who helped the Muslims in Albania, Bosnia, Kuwait and Sudan. Where is the Arab civilization? We never saw the Arabs offer help but we all saw the food packages and flour sacks carrying the letters USA.
The problem with Arabs is that they always have find someone to put the blame on.”
Fadi-Libya.
“America should not be blamed for the hatred that grew against her. If an Arab country (with powers similar to those of America) have suffered what America had suffered from terrorism and if it was some Americans who carried out the attacks on that Arab country. The Arabs would’ve terminated America and slaughtered every American woman and child just like what the Islamists are doing now in Iraq”
Yusuf Al Muhandis-Iraq.

“America is the leader of the world and she represents the tip of the pyramid in economy, science, sports, military power and many other fields and if someone is looking for progress, justice and freedom then America is his destination while those who want to bring back the dark ages consider America their enemy.
It’s true that America and her society have some negative points but these look tiny when compared with the positive ones.
America’s success is a success for the civilized world and her failure is a failure for the whole world. If you don’t trust my words take a look at America’s allies and friends and see how they live and then take a look at America’s enemies, they’re living in poverty under oppressive tyrannies. Just make a comparison between the two Koreas to have a closer view”
Mohammed Khafaji-Babylon/Iraq.

“America offers freedom for free. It’s true that I’ve never been there and I don’t have friends living there either but I keep America in my mind and sole. Hatred was brought to us by the extremists; the enemies of mankind.
I and every true Iraqi love America because to us she represents freedom and liberation. America untied us from Saddam’s chains and also liberated Yugoslavia from her dictator and liberated Germany before that. History is full of events that support my feelings”
Hazim Al Shammari-Bafgdad/Iraq.

I have a secret to share with you; we (my brothers and I) used to hate America some years ago, just like the vast majority of Iraqis and that was the result of being isolated from the rest of the world by the thick walls Saddam built around us. We used to be reading one newspaper, watching one channel and hearing one voice; the voice of the “mighty leader” that looked eternal but those feelings gradually changed after we started to see more clearly who was actually responsible for Iraq’s misery and began to open our eyes, ears and minds to other points of view and to other sources of information in a seriously dangerous search for the truth.

Later, the uncertain feeling changed to a more positive one when we realized that our only chance to get rid of the tyrant was in America’s hands especially after 9/11 and the events that followed that day as we saw that America is determined to fight terrorism and terrorism-supporting criminal regimes.

During the eighteen months that followed 9/11 we were dreaming of the day when the “zero hour” finally comes and nothing will ever match what we felt when we saw the first missile strike Saddam’s palace.
After we started this blog, we had the chance to meet many Americans, both civilians and soldiers and we discovered the noble feelings and the warm wishes they have for Iraq and Iraqis and that made me believe more than ever that we’ve put our trust in the right place.
Yes, I love America and I’m a friend of all American, and I’m truly proud of that, and so are many, many Iraqis who owe their freedom to the great sacrifices made by American people."

Hugh: A guide needs to be written to inform the masses of the above mentioned( goal #1) in your message. Something along the lines of 'Everything you wanted to know about Islam but were afraid to ask" or "Infidels guide to Jihad ...

The masses have to be clued in Hugh, and you could be the one to do it...

By Allah, it's time to find this poetic fellow and send an Apache helicopter missile down his gullet.

O Marines, go to it!

Al-Zarqawi's message is a coded message. Any fool knows that!

However. What would happen to Iraq if Americans leave. Would it fall into the Somali mode or would it become an extension of Iran? The former would be better than the latter.

Few Iraqis appreciate what America has done for them it seems. The rest are a lost cause...

Zarqawi can stuff his poetry up his arse. We'll concentrate on bombing Sunni Triangle. Fancy the Mujahadin have suffered heavy losses and Z's poetry ain't gonna' help...

RAZE FALLUJAH.

How many Americans must die before we do something in this country about the moslem butchers here in the USA?Are we going to have hundreds of innocent school children murdered here ?We are wasteing American lives in Iraq and Afganastan just like we did in Vietnam.Because just like Vietnam as soon as we leave they will return to ideology"kill the infidels".Beats me how any educated people can beleive in a religion that condones the murder of innocent children. But I guess that is par for the cource as mohamed was a butcher who murdered 500 unarmed ,innocent jewish men ,women ,and children in one day.So it looks like old mohamed is closer to Hitler than to Jesus.

forrest shalom: Great Link.
Moose: Great Post.

I like this comment :
I must add that most of these posters with offensive comments said that their comments were directed “against the American government, not the people”.

But they kill the America people not the Government.

The price of liberty is, always has been, and always will be blood. The person who is not willing to die for his liberty has already lost it to the first scoundrel who is willing to risk dying to violate that person's liberty. Are you free? -- Andrew Ford
Jihad will make sure that the Iraqis will pay for the freedom they want with blood.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. John Stuart Mill,

I hope the Iraqis are willing to fight for freedom.
