As details emerge of the three-day siege of a Russian school by Islamic terrorists – which reportedly resulted in more than 200 dead and 700 injured – it is becoming apparent that the operation closely followed the terror roadmap laid out in issue 10 of Al Battar, al-Qaida's online training manual.The tragic events unfolded in the town of Beslan, in the North Ossetia region, near Chechnya, as Islamic Chechen terrorists with suicide-bomb belts seized the school Wednesday, taking as many as 1,500 hostages, later releasing some. The siege ended in explosions, gunfire and the screams of fleeing children as commandos stormed the building.
The terrorism roadmap, written by Abdel Aziz Al Moqrin, leader of al-Qaida's Saudi Arabian cell who was killed in June, provides a detailed and simplified "Kidnapping for Dummies" guide.
Reports in various media outlets illustrate just how closely it appears the guidelines were followed.
A section of the document titled, "How to deal with hostages," advises the following:
Separate the young people from the old, the women and the children. The young people have more strength, hence their ability to resist is high. The security forces must be killed instantly. This prevents others from showing resistance.
Reports from the scene indicate that younger and stronger males were killed very early into the operation, following these instructions closely. The following news media reports further document this:
"Freed hostage Zalina Dzandzarova said that two suicide bombers had killed themselves on Wednesday -- they exploded themselves in the corridor, where male hostages were being kept.” – Kommersant Daily
"Women with small infants greatly upset the fighters. In the morning they led them all out of the gym and put them apart on the second floor" -- Unidentified freed woman hostage to Izvestia daily"People are lying on the floor next to one another. The terrorists separated us. Those, who did not feel very good, were placed in locker rooms. They made male hostages break the windows, because it was too stuffy in the gym." -- Freed hostage Zalina Dzandarova to Kommersant Daily
The kidnapping manual advises the kidnappers to, “Speak in a language or dialect other than your own, in order to prevent revealing your identity.” Based on eyewitness reports from freed captives, it appears that they followed this directive as well:
"In general, they do not talk much and they talk a lot in whispers ... . In the main they explained themselves with gestures. But it did happen that they spoke. By their speech, it is possible to say that among them were Chechens and also Ingush. We did not see their faces. They did not take off their masks." -- Unidentified freed woman hostage to Izvestia daily
The terrorists are advised by Moqrin to, "Wire the perimeter of the hostage location to deny access to the enemy." Reports from the scene indicate that one of the first actions of the terrorists was to mine the gym.
They told us to sit down and began to mine the gym. Two big explosive devices have been placed in the basketball hoop." -- Unidentified freed woman hostage to Izvestia daily
"The terrorists planted a lot of mines and booby-traps filled with metal bolts in the gym." -- Defense Ministry spokesman to Interfax.
The guidelines that the terrorists followed appear to be comprehensive and are not limited to just operational instructions but include extensive instructions on planning. It recommends five possible reasons for conducting a kidnapping or hostage operation.
1. Force the government or the enemy to succumb to some demands.
2. Put the government in a difficult situation that will create a political embarrassment between the government and the countries of the detainees.
3. Obtaining important information from the detainees.
4. Obtaining ransoms.
5. Bringing a specific case to light. For example, this occurred at the beginning of the cases in Chechnya and Algeria, with the hijacking of the French plane and the kidnapping operations performed by the brothers in Chechnya and the Philippines.It appears that this operation was done for reasons 1 and 2 and possibly item 5. According to North Ossetian President Alexander Dzasokhov, the terrorists’ demands were simple, "to liberate Chechnya and declare its independence from Russia."
The European Union is demanding an accounting from the Russian authorities for their savage actions. Why did they not negotiate peacefully with those in the school? Instead, they stormed the building, resulting in the deaths of many people, including more than 20 of the brave freedom fighters who were drawing the attention of the world to the actions of the Russian colonial regime.

Aside from the characteristic inflamatory spin of Reza's comments, the EU has now in effect, taken sides in the jihad.
Through logical extention, the EU has given its approval for the murderous actions taken by the islamists. Naturally, they will deny it, but in all intellectual honesty, they are now, themselves, jihadists.
Hugh's conclusion in the aforementioned post on a previous thread is well thought out as always, but is fatally flawed because it is nothing more than containment, management, and appeasement.
The theory that Hugh puts forth presumes that merely limiting access to places such as Mecca during the hajj, will somehow sway the islamists into a negotiated peace settlement.
It ignores the fact that many islamists never have the opportunity in their lifetimes to actually set foot in mecca during the hajj, but are islamists nonetheless. (True, the house of Saud will pay for travel and expenses to any islamist unable to afford the journey, but not every is able to take them up on the offer.)
The theory advanced by Hugh also ignores the fact, that such an embargo on mecca during the hajj -- which in the PC west will never occur -- would actually have the reverse effect by providing greater impetus to murderous acts against children.
A final solution to the islamic question must include the collaborative effort of the various military, police, civilian, and political bodies.
Among these institutions, there must be agreement as to the seriousness of the islamic threat.
Currently, there is no such agreement; no consensus; and no resolution possible other than appeasement.
When vital changes are made in the collective thought of the west, a final solution must be devised. It must have financing; infrastructure; organization; and proper legislation. It must be engineered, meticulously planned, and implemented with unwavering resolution. It must be industrialized for efficiency and full effect.
Unlike the islamists, people in the west have very short memories and attention spans. Therefore, they must be constantly reminded why a final solution was ever needed. This must be done through the educational processes and through western media.
One cringes at the thought of a new moral standard or what might be "the morals of brutality." But such a moral code of brutality is already in place, as evidenced by what happened to the school children in Russia.
Finally, I must conclude that currently, the islamist have not murdered enough children to date to justify a final solution. Sadly, more innocents will be required before the people of the west will have the stomach to do what it takes to defeat the unified islamists.
At this point, I doubt the people of the west will ever have the stomach for real action other than windy blusters about doing this or that.

A few thoughts:
1. It is interesting that the terrorist sympathizer Reza defines as "brave freedom fighters" people who take women and babies hostages, shoot children in the back when they run away from them, and place bombs in schools in order to establish an Islamic Caliphate. We should remember that all this took place before an election in Chechneya, and we should expect similar attacks to take place here a week or so before our election. Not only is this al-qaida's style of attack, but many muslims such as Reza openly support it.
2. It is also interesting that all this is done for offensive reasons. The terror attack had nothing to do with Chechen independence, which was granted shortly after the Soviet Union dissolved. The Russian intervention in Chechneya took place AFTER the Chechens invaded neighboring areas to establish a Caliphate, and as Reza often reminds us, a world-wide caliphate remains the goal of Muslims. Terror, then, is the tool of Muslims on the offensive.
3. Finally, it is important to note that Muslims rely on Western reluctance to place children in harm's way. When the Russians did react to Chechan aggression, the Chechans hid among women and children in Grozny and elsewhere, counting on the Russians either not to attack, or to inflict casualties they (the Chechens) could later use for propaganda, as Reza indeed does. Obviously, as we have seen, the Chechens and other Muslims themselves clearly believe in Total War, where everyone, including women and babies, are considered targets. This should enrage us, but not surprise us. Historically, Muslims have often targeted women and children, either to kill or to enslave.
4. What can we learn from this? As Reza shows us, we are in a state of total war against Islam because Islam has declared total war against us with the goal of establishing a world wide caliphate. Reza herself (himself?) has openly said so many times. When someone says he plans to conquer you, believe him!

I went back to the article and read it in full. One thing I noticed - toward the end - was the following juxtaposition:
