AMMAN, Jordan (AP) The spiritual leader of a militant group that claimed to have beheaded two American hostages in Iraq has been killed in a U.S. airstrike, and his Jordanian family is preparing a wake, a newspaper and Islamic clerics said Wednesday.Sheik Abu Anas al-Shami, 35, was killed when a missile hit the car he was traveling in on Friday in the west Baghdad suburb of Abu-Ghraib, said the clerics, who have close ties to the family. They spoke on condition of anonymity.
Al-Shami was a close aide to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of the militant group Tawhid and Jihad. The al-Qaida-linked group is blamed for some of the biggest attacks in Iraq, including the bombing of the U.N. headquarters last year, and the beheadings of foreign hostages including two Americans this week.
Al-Zarqawi is believed to have personally decapitated the American hostage Eugene Armstrong on Monday.
Al-Shami, a Jordanian of Palestinian descent who was also known as Omar Yousef Jumah, was believed to be the voice on several audio tapes that Tawhid and Jihad released via the Internet. In one such tape in August, a speaker identified as al-Shami said the militants planned to kill Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, soldiers and police officers.
''We will not allow you to destroy our hopes in this blessed holy war, and we will not let you steal our bright tomorrow, which is now appearing on the horizon,'' the speaker said on the tape....
In the late 1990s, the government closed down an Islamic center that al-Shami had established in Amman on grounds that it was propagating a fanatical interpretation of Islam, according to the clerics and Al-Ghad newspaper.

Based on this news, Zarqawi is definately not going to let the britisher grandfather free. He will wait for the two Iraqi women scientists to be freed and then behead him.
What will the Iraqi authorites then do .... re-arrest the women? no ofcourse not.
Instead Zarqawi will continue to try and get more hostages; all civilian britishers and americans should leave now closely followed by the soldiers... whilst closely looking over their shoulder.
Elections in January are just a pipe dream (not sure exactly what that means anyway), even in "peaceful Basra" local elections only lead to a 15% turnout.
Elections will only work in a peceful environment, nobody will line up to post their votes and even the police/army will not be able to stop sucide bombers. One successful one...and that's the end of the elections. Indeed I don't think that they can be held in some places at all ...Al Sadr will also be at his menecing best....as always supported by Iranin Mullahs
On the other side Zarqawi, will find another "spiritual" leader, who will probably convince him that he (Zarqawi) too is some sort of prophet and continue the "good work" at a pace.
The Iranian Mullahs have now got their latest missile which can hit anywhere in Israel...while they continue to develop a nucleur warhead, which is probably the most dangerous development in the middle-east for decades.
Meanwhile, the americans will spend , spend and spend until they are bankrupt ($4 billion a month of US tax payers dollars), Saudi and China (particularily with it's boyant economy will buy enormous amounts of shares and practically own major US companies ) will further weaken american econiomic power.
So much so, that it is looking likely that China will take over as the world's newest superpower...and ofcourse qwe have seen thier morals at work before! They will extend their links with N. Korea, who will further strengthen their links with Pakistan and then then nucleur Iran.
Meanwhile muslims in the UK (and the US) are ever moving on...already they have Islamic coke, now today they opened the 1st ever Islamic bank in Edware Road, London (based on Sharia law), you borrow & return money based on no interest, the catch...if you fail to pay....look no further than the chop chop square in Saudi....Ofcourse they are looking to expand, open a branch in every town...

For those few, a greater understanding of economics, and why the capitalist system will survive and the collectivist system will collapse, can be had by reading Thomas Sowell's book, "Basic Economics." It is highly readable, and pre-supposes no prior knowledge of economics.
Another extremely useful and engaging booklet is a collection of a few lectures given in Argentina in 1958 (I believe that's correct) by Ludwig von Mises, of the "Austrian School" of economics. The title is "Economic Policy." It's very short, and believe it or not, it can be hard to put down.
Mises, who died about 20 years ago, was a gentleman and a scholar, and among the few who pointed out that freedom and a free, capitalist economy, cannot exist one without the other.
Of course, the big "catch" is that we must retain a capitalist system, which is the only morally valid system. The libs and all other collectivists are chewing away, and we are already a "mixed" economy in the US, ever inching our way towards collectivism.
The only way that the difference between right (capitalism) and wrong (collectivism) can be known on a widespread basis is to teach it in the schools.
Unfortunately, the schools are run by the enemy.

Is this an example of islamic "economics"? Here's some real economic facts:
The GDP of all the 22 Arab League countries combined is less than Spain alone.
The entire Arab League manufacturing output is less than Greece.
The non-petroleum exports of the entire Arab League is less than sub-Saharan Africa.
And the list goes on.
Remember that all wars are wars of attrition. The losers are those economies that exhaust their productive capacity first. If total war (totaler kreig) between the US and all Islamic nations combined occurs, the outcome is not in doubt, it's just a question of whether it will take weeks or months to reduce the entire Islamic world to a medieval standard of living where the only jihading possible will be with spears on horseback. That is if they survive the plagues of cholera, polio, famine and intertribal wars.
