Leaving Iraq Means 'surrendering' To Terrorists: Polish Opposition

This is an elementary point that is often obscured by contentious debates over whether it was justified to go into Iraq or not. Leaving that discussion aside for the moment, the fact is that Iraq is now an arena of the global jihad (although it is still not the only one, which is an indication that those who think everything will die down if we leave Iraq are wrong again), and to leave it on undr jihadist pressure will only embolden the mujahedin. From AFP, with thanks to Ali Dashti:

WARSAW, Sept 13 (AFP) - If Poland decides to withdraw its troops from Iraq it will appear to be surrendering to terrorists, Poland's largest opposition party, which tops the country's popularity polls, said on Monday.

"To decide to stop participating in a war because there are casualties means, de facto, surrendering," Donald Tusk, head of the liberal Civic Platform party, told public radio a day after three Polish soldiers were killed in an attack south of Baghdad.

His comments came on the same day Iraq's interim President Ghazi Al-Yawar arrived in Warsaw for an official visit.

"The idea is to withdraw the Polish troops from Iraq in agreement with other allies so as not to give the impression that the Poles are surrendering to terrorism as the Spaniards did" last spring, said Tusk, who is considered a potential presidential candidate for the elections set for the end of 2005.

"On the other hand, we must pressure our allies, especially the Americans, so that they present a precise plan for ending the intervention in Iraq, and to learn what in the end was the object of this intervention," he added.

Is the world really so dense they do not know what the point of Iraq was and is? I am not that sharp and the reason behind Iraq is pretty clear to me...

How about this: to unseat a maniac terrorist dictator, free his victims, close his terror training camps, stop his funding of Islamic terrorists in Palestine and elsewhere and attempt to seed a Government, of by and for the people of Iraq?

How long will that take? Well the first four objectives have been accomplished...The Fifth depends on the Iraqi's and the rest of the Free World governments support of the Iraqi's

Bravo, Sons of Jan Sobieski!

Poland: Another great ally, taking no shit!!!

Stand firm Poland!

Thanks !!
We just find repugnant the way the Spaniards did it.
We, the polish nation, had to fight for our own freedom for few centuries. Our painful history tought us how to distinguish between good and evil.

I realize that it isn't a war with the Iraq people.

On each polish military flag is written:
"ZA NASZA I WASZA WOLNOSC" - it means "FOR OURS AND YOURS FREEDOM".
Our soldiers are dying here for THEY freedom, as they always did...
