Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - Academics and others in the Arab and Muslim world continue to circulate conspiracy theories that blame the U.S. and/or Israel for the 2001 terrorist attacks on America....Conspiracy theories surfaced almost immediately following the attacks and were repeated by Arab leaders from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef....
But there are some moderate voices in the Arab world like Sheik Abd Al-Hamid Al-Ansari, former dean of faculty of Shari'a at the University of Qatar, who have encouraged Muslims to engage in some soul-searching.
"Why won't we [Arabs] take the opportunity of the appearance of the September 11 commission's report to ponder why destructive violence and a culture of destruction have taken root in our society?" Al-Ansari wrote in the London based Arabic daily Al-Hayat on August 2.
"Why won't we take this opportunity to reconsider our educational system, our curricula, including the religious, media, and cultural discourse that cause our youth to live in a constant tension with the world?" he asked, according to a translation provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute.
But others, including people in American allies Egypt and Saudi Arabia, have continued to propagate the conspiracy theories.
"To this day, we don't know who attacked the U.S. on September 11. Why is the attack attributed to bin Laden although it has not been proven that he was involved in the operation? It is way above his capabilities. Those who created him have made him a legend," Mustafa Shak'a, former dean of Humanities at Ein Shams University in Egypt said in an interview on Iqra TV in June.
"The operation was 100 percent American, and this is not the place to elaborate, but what proves the operation was a Jewish one is that five Jews climbed up a high building and filmed the first attack of the first plane," he said.
"There is still doubt that the September attacks were the outcome of Arab and Islamic terror. No conclusive proof to this effect is yet available," Galal Amin professor at the American University in Egypt wrote in Al-Ahram in April 2004.
"Many writers, American and European as well as Arab, suspect that the attacks were carried out by Americans, or with American assistance, or that Americans knew about them and kept silent. Such doubts are strong and rest on damning evidence, but the U.S. administration forcefully censors them and bans any discussion of the matter," Amin said.
In an article in the Egyptian government daily Al-Gumhouriyya in April, deputy editor Abd Al-Wahhab Adas accused the Jewish people of carrying out all terrorism worldwide, including the September 11 attacks.
Earlier this year, in a new song popular Egyptian singer Sha'ban Abd Al-Rahim accused the U.S. of bringing down the Twin Towers itself.
"Hey people it was only a tower and I swear by God that they [U.S.] are the ones who pulled it down," the song says. The song says the U.S. did so to make people think that Arabs and Muslims are terrorists so it can do what it wants in the Arab world.

I read over the weekend that there is some speculation within US intelligence circles that the reason these ridiculous stories about the Jews being responsible for the 9/11 attacks was because the attack may have been originally scheduled for 9/18/04, which was Rosh Hashanah, and Bin Laden, knowing many Jews would be taking the day off to celebrate the holiday, was attempting to create the appearance that the Jews were complicit in the bombing by claiming they were warned ahead of time not show up for work. It is possible Mohammed Atta or someone else moved the date of the attack up out of fear it would be compromised by the arrest of a top al-Qaeda operative prior to September 2001 and that there was no time to retract this ridiculous communique. How they planned to deny the fact that all the hijackers were Muslim is anybody's guess, but apparently the intent was the old divide the Christians and Jews trick.

I just came from seeing Moore's FRNHT-9/11
at the second-run discout cinema,this because I'd wouldn't pay full price and I now see I was right. The movie had a different tone to it now the the Islamist slaughtered and shot in the back,children returning to school for the fall.
While the usual Bush-bashers laughed at Moore's
"cut-n-paste" simplistic editing,the overall image I got was that Moore was the idiot and he
used his flock of sheeple to buy into his tripe since very fews in the theatre appeared to care about minor things like "Facts" and "Dates" to go with the absurd claims he makes.
I saw several people giving answers to questions that nobody knew were being asked to that person,it's obvious why the French now have the Islamists to deal with,they got conned at caan along with the idea that Moore was right about appeasing the terrorists to avoid the wrath of
Muslim jihadists.
Moore didn't even have the guts to show the actual horror caused by the attack on 9/11,the screen was void while you only heard the secong plane hit the WTC and later the first plane hit.
Maybe if the audiance saw the body part and people exploiding when they hit the sidewalk at 120 M.P.H.,then leftist Americans and the jelly-back French would understand the depth of evil awaiting them from Islam. Moore never once blamed the U.N. for their WMD claims,nor did he blame Canada when our P.M. insisted Saddam still had WMD's.
Also,not once did Moore's film show the hijackers as "Muslim" terrorists,I'd like to see if Moore has the guts to visit an Islamic Nation and show how much good-will he made with the misunderstood oppressed Muslims.
