Details of the Beslan siege from a survivor, 10-year-old Georgy Farniyev. From AP:
"They told us to 'sit tight and if you scream we will kill 20 children.' One terrorist had 20 children that were killed, and because of that they came to kill us," Georgy told the AP.There was not much water to drink, and only a few people were allowed to go to the bathroom during the two-day siege, Georgy said.
"Children, women and even men were fainting. They were not giving us water," said Georgy, who appeared emotionally numb — his thoughts and words swerving back and forth in time as he remembered his ordeal.
Some of the terrorists were bearded, but one was clean-shaven, Georgy said. At least two of the militants were women, and Georgy said they wore what looked like money pouches — "but there was no money, only explosives."
After the siege began Sept. 1, the militants placed bombs around the gym floor and in the basketball hoops.
On the second day of the standoff, Georgy said the militants killed some adults and one girl — shooting one victim in front of the hostages in the gym, but taking others away and killing them elsewhere.
On the videotape, apparently taken by the militants, Georgy sat close to the side of the gym where some of the explosives were concentrated. Other survivors said he likely would have died there — the bombs went off in the chaos that ended the standoff on Sept. 3.
Georgy said he had been directly on a square-shaped explosive.
"One of the mines was right under us," he said. "There were a lot of explosives, grenades, bombs."
But at one point Georgy was told to move, and it apparently saved his life.
"When they started to shoot and the bomb went off, it didn't do anything to me, not even a scratch," he said. "There was shooting, grenades, bombs."
When the explosions began, Georgy rushed from the gym to a nearby room, then to a cafeteria where he was hit by shrapnel in his right knee and upper left arm. He limped into the kitchen and hid in a closet.
Georgy pulled the shrapnel from his arm and cleaned it with water, but was unable to remove the shrapnel from his knee. He said he found a telephone and tried to call for help, but it was broken.
A soldier later approached his hiding place and asked, "Are there any more Chechens?"
"I said 'No,'" Georgy said. Someone then took his hand, and he was passed out a window and into a vehicle to be taken to safety.
Wow. Brave kid, under all that stress he actually thought and tried to call for help, and pulled the piece of shrapnel from his arm. I cant imagine a western kid doing anything under the circumstances...
Coming to a school near you, and soon. Or maybe the religion of peace will find new depths to sink to. How about a hospital maternity unit or a kindergarten?
The most important bit of information is:
Why this school?
Why this town?
Why this province?
Because they were Christian.
The media is leaving this bit of information out of the papers.
Are they afraid that the West's Christians might answer this call to "war".
This is being reported from a Chechin vs. Russian angle.
But it is a Muslim vs. Christian angle that should also be reported.
>I cant imagine a western kid doing anything under >the circumstances...
Oh really!? I disagree whole heartedly. You are selling us and our children short.
People that I have talked to have all said the same thing. We aren't going to sit passively by and let these maniacs kill us. A "Let's roll" spirit seems to prevail and I feel the same way. I'm not saying "Bring it on" I'm saying _if_ faced with it, we will defend ourselves. We won't wait for the professionals. Like the Russian crowd that tore the terrorist apart, we aren't going to stand for this crap and justice will not always come from the courts.
f.g.
What a brave little kid! Am worried that these Islamo-Fascist Bastards will try other schools ,taking toddlers and children
as hostages, gives them full media exposure and of course these babes are helpless. Reckon EVERY
SCHOOL in the West should check their security.
Threatening and abusing children is the ultimate display of impotence and cowardice. These despicable sub-humans are a faithful representation of jihadists worldwide.
QUIT STEALING OUR AIR!!
>Are they afraid that the West's Christians might answer this call to "war".
Think so?? My own dear Church is wracked by scandal, and at Mass every week we say prayers for "peace" and "justice"...those words have taken on a smarmy meaning in my mind. Bad enough that the Pope kissed the Qur'an!
I hope your church has more cajones than mine. Who's church is toughest now? the Mormons? sign me up.
Cassandra...
My church does have "cajones".
The Bible is taught literally, not through translations. White is white, and black is black. There is gray. Homosexuality is wrong, abortion is wrong.
Lets start with those first two issues. Does your church speak out about this or not? Or are these gray issues? Because they are not in the Bible. Or are your ministers not at liberty to teach the Bible because they answer to the Vatican?
Sounds like time to find a new church, and find a paster/minister that is a man, and not "a girly man".
Sorry, meant to say, "there is no gray".
Unfortunately, we can expect something like this to happen here in the US, probablya week or so before the election, for maximum effect. Not too long ago, a Saudi "student" was caught videotaping a girls school in Baltimore (no, I don't have a link to it, can someone look it up?)
I think there will be a whole terror "blitzkreig" similar to what we saw in Russia. When that happens we can be sure of only 4 things:
1. The terrorists will try to kill as many as possible.
2. They will have the enthusiastic support of muslims in the US and around the world.
3. The media will blame President Bush.
4. The terrorists will target christians and/or Jews.
So, what are we going to do about it?
Sounds like time to find a new church, and find a paster/minister that is a man, and not "a girly man".

so he cleansed the earth of the wicked
and they were no more...
Georgy, future FSB Anti-Terror commando.
These stories coming out of Beslan keep coming, and they keep getting worse, more horrific. The first-hand accounts are absolutely disgusting. But unfortunately I find the media doesn't seem to want to give this too much attention or focus. Not as much as the Abu Ghraib thing. That got way more airtime, and still gets it. Beslan seems to be fading, far quicker, from the spotlight. I guess it's proved too awkward, too uncomfortable for the Islam-apologists. Too hard to get away from the Islam question. They don't want these kids telling these stories. Afterall, what's a Russian schoolkid got to do with Bush, Iraq, or Putin? Hard to make that link, and hard to get away from wondering what the hell is wrong with Islam.
It's unfortunate this Jakarta embassy bombing occurred when it did for it seems to have pushed Beslan off the front pages, out of front and centre. I'm not diminishing the horror of the Jakarta bombing but the media seems to be using it for its anti-Bush, anti-Iraq, anti-Howard diatribes. The media seems almost relieved that they have something to get them away from having to ponder the harsh realities of true Islam as it displayed itself in Beslan. I think Beslan made it very difficult for them to excuse Islam, although some did. Now with the Jakarta bombing we can get back on the left-wing track.
If any of you believes in the Bible in the literal sense, then you are no better than the Islamofascists. Do we really need fundamentalism to fight fundamentalism? I sure as hell do not!

Here we go again, another heathen comparing Christianity to the DEATH CULT from Hell.
Alex~ Not sure if there are any 'fundamentalist' Christians posting here. Does believing Any of the Bible figure into your own thinking, however? Or are you merely lumping Christianity with islam?
Not knocking you, mind, just that you didn't give your own view of religion beyond the statement you made.
>The Lord saw much evil,
>so he cleansed the earth of the wicked
>and they were no more...
From the Bible, the Quran, or a Jim Jones sermon? Like who could tell?
>>Do we really need fundamentalism to fight fundamentalism?
Exactly! Making this a pissing contest between RELIGIONS is counter productive and alienates non-Christians from the anti-Jihad. Dig!?
>Here we go again, another heathen comparing
>Christianity to the DEATH CULT from Hell.
You know Christian friends, if you would only stop and listen to yourselves in an objective manner, you would see why those of us who aren't Christians or Muslims view statements like those I quoted above as inflamatory, diversive, and quite silly. It sounds like two kids in a school yard boasting that their dads could beat up the other. Grow up and get off it.
Stick to the real human issues here and recognize that the problem here is a religion. So don't be suprised when some of us just aren't buying the religious retoric from either side. And quite frankly, it just makes matters worse by clouding the issue.
f.g.
Robert,
Do you believe as I do, that by framing the current conflict between Islam and the West as a conflict between Religions or gods, people are in danger of clouding and derailing the real issue you are trying to address with Jihad Watch?
Fundamentalist rhetoric spouted by well meaning Christians here often seeks to make the issue one of whose god is the true god and whose Truth is the real Truth, rather than the more universal concern of Islamic Terrorism and what can be done about it.
I'm hip to your disclaimer. I understand that you aren't responsible for the comments made by others but I have seen how much you can influence what folks post by just saying something here.
f.g.
f.g.:
Spencer doesn't read all the comments. Copy your post to the "Contact Us" section on the homepage and e-mail it to him.
f.g,
Great point, and I to think you should copy your post and email it to Robert Spencer.
The last thing we want is someone of a more left persuasion comming here curious and wanting to find out the whole truth about islam and to see if their is any truth to what people like me have been telling them (the lefties) on more liberal-minded websites. Then upon comming here, hoping for intelligent, unbiased, informative views free of media euphamisms, watered down reports, and religious bias and the first things they clamp eyes on are biblical exerts etc,it could bring them to assume, incorrectly, that JW is a anti-muslim pro-christian or jew-site, thereby washing their hands of it straight away.
It could be quite damaging to the cause.
F.G. and Rikki,
Here is great censorship right here is America. Are you two from Sweden?
Most of your liberals know about God and the Bible. They separate theirselves from conservatives on social issues and the promotion of humanism (the removal of God). Stating that religion and the Bible have not kept up with the times.
But here we are letting Islam be discussed, but not Christianity. Maybe you have missed the point that Islam is at war with anyone that is not Islamic. Humanist and atheists play into their fold for the time being because you have not chosen a side, or at least your ashamed to annouce the side you are on.
This is a war of beliefs. But don't worry, your side of "lets not insult liberals" will win exactly what you portrayed above. The Bible discusses that in the end times societies and goverments (that are now all humanist) will grow tired of religions and beliefs. There will be the creation of one religion and one worship throughout the world, but no god will be allowed. No other belief system will be allowed.
I hope you are looking for a religion created by the worlds goverments. (These are the same goverments that can't agree on anything. Such as all of the dead bodies in Sudan (that are Christian) as to genocide being created. They are still out on committee.)
So, according to you we should not talk from a point of Jewish, Christian, or how about Mason?
Have you ever noticed how Islamics' spew about Jews, Zionists, Christians, or Masons? Do a search on the internet and see how often they include Masons in their spews. The Western media will remove the reference, but MEMRI does not. Are you awary that every leader of Britian, America, and Russia for that last 148 years has been a 33rd degree Mason? Do you know where Mason's come from? Read. Are you aware that they have a god of worship that is made up of Jehovah, Baal, Isis? Does this sound like maybe a religion that would PC for everyone?
f,g.
>>Do you believe as I do, that by framing the current conflict between Islam and the West as a conflict between Religions or gods, people are in danger of clouding and derailing the real issue you are trying to address with Jihad Watch?
Fundamentalist rhetoric spouted by well meaning Christians here often seeks to make the issue one of whose god is the true god and whose Truth is the real Truth, rather than the more universal concern of Islamic Terrorism and what can be done about it.leave wickedness and live read the revelation of this account in Ezekiel 33.
What you must try and realize is that we believe that the laws of God and commandments cannot be overturned, just as you are subject to gravity on a daily basis you are subject to divine laws too, and these are immediately recognised by the human conscience.
What Islam has done is to have perverted the understanding of divine law abrogating all manner of circumstances which enable jihadists access to heaven, for the most heinous acts against GOD, this activity is known as 'Taking heaven by storm' and is critiscised by Jesus. Jesus lived in a Roman world and there is not one verse which he spoke that denounced Rome or its Rulers, in fact he said "give to Caesar that which is Caesar's" .
There is a lack of condemnation by the Catholics and all Christians, also, it is in every religions interest to sit up and take notice' it would not be wrong for a person to take Christians to task saying" why are you not condemning these people according to the Catechism of the catholic Church it is a sin to ignore anothers error.
Catechism of the Catholic Church which supports what I have written .
1868 Sin is a personal act. Moreover, we have a responsibility for the sins committed by others when we cooperate in them:
- by participating directly and voluntarily in them;
- by ordering, advising, praising, or approving them;
- by not disclosing or not hindering them when we have an obligation to do so;
- by protecting evil-doers.
1869 Thus sin makes men accomplices of one another and causes concupiscence, violence, and injustice to reign among them. Sins give rise to social situations and institutions that are contrary to the divine goodness. "Structures of sin" are the expression and effect of personal sins. They lead their victims to do evil in their turn. In an analogous sense, they constitute a "social sin."144
Another Key point as Jews and Christians will agree on the character of God, everyone will not agrre with the character of Allah who is the God of the Muslims and them alone, Muhammed distinguishes Jews and Christians as the enemy of Allah and the Muslims, this could lead to the deaths of millions of people, we have a duty to SPEAK OUT
The Lord saw much evil,
so he cleansed the earth of the wicked
and they were no more...
f.g.,
For your information I composed the above a few months ago.
I was inspired to write this by all of the suffering, misery, pain and brutal savagery that I have read about here at Jihad Watch and Dhimmi Watch.
I have a deep belief in "true" Christianity and if I like others here choose to make this known that is our God given right just as it is yours to oppose it.That is what makes America a Great country.
We are free here to post our beliefs and opinions.
Your previous comments suggest some type of censorship and this is very disturbing.
If you read commentary that you do not agree with then you can respond or ignore it.
Your interpertation of this to be fundamentalism is in error.
The Lord does see all of the horrific "evil" that the world is experencing today.
The earth certainly needs to cleansed of this "evil" if mankind is to survive.
As so correctly stated by The Rev.Alan C. Clifford:
"the only antidote to this evil religion and its barbaric ethos is the pure Gospel of Jesus Christ"
What I understand from having read your comments here concerning Christainity it seems that you have had a negative experience and I am truly sorry to here this.
The Power of the Lord is as real as the evil of Islam and in the final analysis the evil and wicked shall be struck down.
Blessed are those who see evil and try to stop it
Blessed are those who see evil and try to destroy it
Blessed are those who lose ther life to save the innocent.
Thanks to Robert Spencer who opened my eyes to the truth.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
Son of Infidel
Good Grief People!
I am not suggesting censorship of any kind. Man, do you guys need to take a reading comprehension course or what?
What I am saying is if you guys would stop trying to make this an issue of “Islam is wrong and Christianity is right” instead of the more universal problem of “Islam Jihad is wrong” then you would certainly get more support for what you are doing.
It doesn’t lend much credibility to Jihad Watch for Christians to get into a pissing contest in here with Muslims over the validly of your religions. Neither does it behoove us to debate the validly of secular humanism, Buddhism, or any other belief system/religion compared to another belief system/religion in here. Does it make Islamic Jihad any more wrong that it already is? No it doesn't.
The only thing that matters is that people of all races, religions, and creeds, recognize the danger that Islamic Jihad posses to the world.
That is all I’m saying. How simple is that? Get the chips off your shoulders and the righteous indignation off your chest and think about it for a minute.
Man alive.
f.g.
p.s. Don't assume that because I am an agnostic that I am ignorant of religion or scripture. On the contrary I have studied, participated, and believed (in Christ that is) for at least the last 35 years. I certainly didn't arrive at my agnosticism over night, because I was born into an agnostic family, or because I “had a bad experience”. Being a free thinker in a world filled with superstition is like trying to be a Christian in Sodom and Gomorrah or something, I swear.
*lol* Stick with us, F.G. Rough around the edges but a fun bunch nonetheless.
f.g.
I find it almost amusing when people blame religion for all of the death and destruction in the world. Communism is an atheistic belief system which killed more than 100 million people in the 20th century alone.
Get over yourself.
lafn,
I find it tragic when people don't understand the concept that religion and politics are both just ideologies and therefore equally as culpable where human behavior is concerned.
An ideology is defined as:
1. The body of ideas reflecting the social needs and aspirations of an individual, group, class, or culture.
2. A set of doctrines or beliefs that form the basis of a political, economic, or other system.
Religion is defined as:
1. Religion
a. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
b. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
2. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.
Communism is defined as:
5. Communism
a. A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.
b. The Marxist-Leninist version of Communist doctrine that advocates the overthrow of capitalism by the revolution of the proletariat.
Ok, so Islam is a religion which seeks to place everyone under theocratic law where all aspects of society are controlled by a single authoritarian party (or sect whichever you prefer). That doesn’t sound a lot different from living under Communism to me. Both seek/sought change through violence as well.
So what is your point lafn? You talk about religion and communism like you were comparing apples to oranges. They are the same type of thing where human behavior is concerned. Get off your scared cow and get over to the library and read a book.
f.g.
