Exactly why is this phrase "controversial". Since when did Muslims declare that this was controversial. Are there more such verses in the Koran that are, how you say, "controversial".
Note that all the victims of beheadings were firmly bound. These animals of allah are totally literal. They follow the koran quite literally and as such are predictable. We can if we wish, use this prediliction to destroy them.
Of course they will slaughter us as examples and make dhimmis of those that comply, a policy that is more than 1300 years old. One would think that Westerners would have seen the pattern and would have come to understand the policy before now.
The problem is that Westerners believe in rational thought, and negotiating to find consensus, a concept that is impossible in the minds of extremists. "Surely we can find a 'win-win' solution to this problem" is the cry. Not when obdurate, unyielding, and fanatical individuals will accept no other solution but that which is given in the Koran, a solution that demands death for the unyielding and dhimmitude (slavery) for all others.
Blair's policy is controversial because many in the British public, as well as in the American public, refuse to accept that negotiations won't end in the win-win situation that we so love. They only see value in the moment of saving one life or solving one problem, and not in the long-term consequences offered by giving in during the negotiation.

The title Tawhid and Jihad is very useful: Monotheism and Jihad. The next time you happen to attend one of those Open Houses offered by a smiling imam, and the handful of congregants willing to show up, as Potemkin worshippers, to endure having to welcome some awful Infidel visitors, in order to present an evening of taqiyya/kitman (and at the end of the evening, a very tasty Pakistani buffet, with chicken and rice, is waiting in the next room) -- well, when the routine goes into the "we are all Abrahamic faiths, we are all share a belief in Monotheism" someone must really interject: Yes, Tawhid. But in Islam's case, Tawhid and Jihad. And that is the problem."

Do I sense a disconnect between the way our Western governments see the world, and they way the islamists view the world???
Perhaps if the islamists were to nab a few policy makers to parade before the web-cams, instead of the easy to get "soft-targets," then perhaps the remaining policy makers would be roused from their self-induced PC stupor and muster enough courage among them to neutralize these "son-of-a-bitches" once and for all
But no, such will not happen; for the elite know well, how to insulate themselves from such calamities. It is the wee-folks of marginal note that will pay the price of "slaughter;" which I dare say is the price of "appeasement, containment, and management" of the enemy.
I suspect that the invitation to an "Open Houses offered by a smiling imam" will happen at an upcoming CFR meeting; but the words "Tawhid and Jihad" will never be spoken in the presence of such dignified and polite company.
