Two Italian Women Abducted in Baghdad

Aid workers, even if they are women, are not immune.

Said the great philosopher Averroes: "Most scholars agree that fortresses may be assailed with mangonels, no matter whether there are women and children within them or not. This is based on the fact that the Prophet used mangonels against the population of al-Ta'if."

And according to the renowned Sufi Al-Ghazali: "One must go on jihad at least once a year...one may use a catapult against them [non-Muslims] when they are in a fortress, even if among them are women and children. One may set fire to them and/or drown them..."

And Ibn Taymiyya, Osama's favorite classical Muslim theologian: "As for those who cannot offer resistance or cannot fight, such as women, children, monks, old people, the blind, handicapped and their likes, they shall not be killed unless they actually fight with words [eg. by propaganda] and acts [by spying or otherwise assisting in the warfare]. Some jurists are of the opinion that all of them may be killed, on the mere ground that they are unbelievers, but they make an exception for women and children since they constitute property for Muslims."

From AP:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two Italian women working for an aid agency in Iraq have been kidnapped, the agency said Tuesday. Gunmen in olive green uniforms broke into the group's Baghdad offices in Baghdad and took the women along with two Iraqis, neighbors said.

The attack was only the second known kidnapping of foreign women since the wave of kidnappings began earlier this year. The first involved a Japanese aid worker captured in Fallujah April along with two other Japanese, who were all released a week later.

The Rome headqarters of the agency, "A Bridge To ...," identified the two Italian women as Simona Torretta, the head of the Baghdad office, and Simona Pari, both 29. The two Iraqis were identified as Raad Ali Aziz and Mahnaz Bassam.

Thanks Robert for reminding us of the barbarity in these 'scholarly' Islamic sources.

When one teaches Aristotle's politics or ethics, for instance, one is obliged to critically discuss Aristotle's views on the nature of women (which is none too flattering).

Averroes and other Islamic philosophers receive no such critical scrutiny (although they are seldom studied anyway); but passages like the ones presented above must be brought to light. We are generally are ignorant of the moral shipwreck of Islamic thought, even in the high medieval period.

The question, 'How can things go so wrong?' should be on the minds of everyone, nonMuslim and Muslim. And as you point out so often, if our contemporary problems with Jihadist violence are to be addressed, Muslims must be the ones to step forward and critically address this issue. 'How can things go so wrong?' for they have, they have, from very early on...

Another example of the caring attitude of Muslims
towards women and children. Oh, noble and brave Muhajadeen, May Allah reward you...

Guess they gotta get a jump on kidnapping before the Fatwa is issued for them not to kidnap people. Like they will abide by ANY religious rulings that come down. HAH!

i'd like to know what the italians are thinking. methinks this will make italy's population (like russia recently) more in solidarity against the jihad

According to Islamo Fanatics, this is the first step in Jihad against Italy.[The Muzzo Freaks have
been threatening 'rivers of blood' at least 17 times]. Italy has stayed on alert which may have deterred our 'brave' Muhajadeen who kidnapped 'soft'
targets of women working in Aid Agency. If anything happens [pray it won't] think Italy will stiffen resistance like Russia.
