Adams certainly understood Islam.
We forget that Islam has been seen by our forefathers for what it really is,and people today are fools for believing Islam to be something which it has not and never been, namely "a religion of peace."
It seems our forefathers understood Islam far better than we do today.

My thoughts abt the global situation is that, people knew the Islamic
civilisation would become a threat. (Just check your history, who
invaded Europe in the 8th century and moved into France twice (725 &

I believe the Iraq war is only a secundary objective, the 2nd secundary
objective is to bring "democracy" which might and probably will rock the
foundations of the neighbouring states.
The Main objective is to cutt down Jihad at its doorstep, mainly the
elimination of the current Iranian regime.
Look at the maps the US has now a broad line to invade Iran (Iraq,
Afghanistan,..), Russia can move in through the Kaspian sea, check the

Iranian Nuclear and missile facilities.
You'll understand what I'm talking about.
Internally weakening Iran is a first step, the second step is moving in
manu militari, but could enrage the Islamic world and will enrage
Jihadists.
Therefor I believe Jihadists will move onto Saudi Arabia in the same
timeframe as the west will move against Iran. The Saudi's are instable
and vulnerable, they need the presence of US troops, which will decrease
when the West steps into Iran.
I'd time it then and engage into Saudi Arabia if I were a jihadist while
enflaming the area of Israel to keep it busy. Taking over Saudi Arabia
will give them money, oil and advanced weaponery.
But overturning one country wont be enough, Iraq will have insurgency
problems as well to keep "enemy" forces away from Saudi Arabia. Its like
the strategic bombing of Europe during WW2 : in order for the
Nazi-regime to protect itself from the bombings it had to employ 1.8
million troops and 8900 88mm AAA canons (which served very well as
general artillery and anti-tank guns).
But still, another Islamic country's regime will have to be exchanged
for a more radical one, but which country ?
If the Iranian invasion fails...we'll be in a lot of trouble, with
possible nbc strikes against Russia, Turkey (Nato), Afghanistan?, Iraq?
,Israel.
But I think the invasion will only be in 2006 or 2007, by then THAAD
should be well incorporated and the ABL should be operational to some
level.
Maybe Turkey could be the second country, it has a vast army and unlike
whats told in European press, they're not that much found on Europe, an
NBC attack on them might help flip the regime there.
Any other thoughts which go with the flow or move against this thought
process ?
I'd like to hear them, afterall I'm merely one person.

If you read the whole article on "Frontpage," Bostom gives the source. He also expresses disappointment at the Claremont Institute for displaying a "sanitized" summary of these essays on the internet.
I have been busily collecting historic quotes about Islam (you can link to them at www.nojihad.com under the contributions of "Rubisco"). Since that time, I have found more quotes by the likes of David Hume, Denis Diderot (translated by Hugh, thanks again Hugh!), Oscar Wilde, and John Wesley.
I too came upon the Claremont Institute's sanitized version when I did a search for the keywords "John Adams" and "Mahomet." I found many of the quotes by doing this with the names of alot of great thinkers. Sometimes I hit paydirt (as you can see from the length of my list of quotes) and mostly I come up empty-handed. Based to my disappointment reading the Claremont Institute's version, I never intended to search more of Adam's writings. Thank God Dr. Bostom was more persistent, and more willing to haul his ass down to a real library!
I often wondered how our ForeFathers thought of these people and then I saw on the History channel the war of Tripoli, and how these nasty people Pirated the Seas and demanded tributes.
