At FrontPage today, Mustafa Akyol, whose earlier National Review articles attempting to show that Osama bin Laden and Company have hijacked the religion of peace I discussed here and here at some length, turns in a third entry that is as mind-numbingly disingenuous as it is windy and off-point. It is directly a reply to Andrew Bostom's piece, not to me, and I am sure Andy will weigh in soon, but here are a few preliminary thoughts.
Akyol says:
At the outset, I should clarify the meaning of the term jihad. It does not necessarily mean a military struggle....
I tell you, folks, if I had a nickel for every time someone said that to me...But anyway, Akyol should know that it is completely beside the point, because although it may not "necessarily" be a military struggle, it is for the global jihadists. Does Akyol think they will lay down their arms because jihad can also be a spiritual struggle? As a matter of fact, Hassan Al-Banna (founder of the Muslim Brotherhood) and Abdullah Azzam (a founder of Al-Qaeda) among others, taught that the idea of jihad as a spiritual struggle was based on a weak hadith, and thus had to be rejected by loyal Muslims. But of course Akyol does not deal with that.
Akyol:
Mr. Bostom also asks what will happen to atheists if they are not convinced. Of course, nothing. Let them deny the obvious. "There is no compulsion in religion" (2:256) and Muslims are ordered to say "The truth is from your Lord, so let him who please believe, and let him who please disbelieve." (18:29)
Interestingly enough, just yesterday someone sent me this from a Muslim Q&A website, quoting Qur'an 8:39 and 9:5 to say that yes, there is compulsion in religion:
“And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism, i.e. worshipping others besides Allaah), and the religion (worship) will all be for Allaah Alone [in the whole of the world]” [al-Anfaal 8:39]“Then when the Sacred Months (the 1st, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islamic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikoon (see V.2:105) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush. But if they repent [by rejecting Shirk (polytheism) and accept Islamic Monotheism] and perform As‑Salaah (Iqaamat-as-Salaah), and give Zakaah, then leave their way free. Verily, Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful” [al-Tawbah 9:5]
This verse is known as Ayat al-Sayf (the verse of the sword).
These and similar verses abrogate the verses which say that there is no compulsion to become Muslim.
But Akyol is ready for that. He attacks the Islamic doctrine of abrogation on which this argument is based:
The doctrine of abrogation is actually a late invention, introduced by some classical jurists during the fourth century (late 10th century) of Islam. These scholars came up with hundreds of cases of abrogated verses to the extent that they formulated a whole science of the subject filling lengthy books and references.Yet they were in error and many Muslim thinkers are pointing this out since the 19th century. Dr. Khaleel Mohammed, a professor of Religion at San Diego State University, has a very good article that summarizes the refutations against the doctrine of abrogation. "The allegation that 120 verses on the invitation to Islam were abrogated by the verse of the sword (9:5)" says Dr. Mohammed, "is in fact one of crassest stupidity."...
Actually the Koran itself declares that it includes no contradictions (4:82), thus its verses should be seen not as conflicting and calling for abrogative passages, but rather as complimentary parts of a single mosaic.
If we try to build that mosaic, we will see that the war verses describe only an abnormal state of affairs — in which the Muslim community faced an enemy that sought its annihilation — and verses that promote peace and tolerance describe the Islamic ideal.
Gee, that's swell, but unfortunately, Dr. Khaleel Muhammad has not yet taken up his throne as the Muslim Pope. And here, as in so many other instances, he resorts to shallow and base name-calling instead of actually addressing the arguments of his opponents. Jihadists, quite obviously, still employ the practice of abrogation. Does he think that pointing out that it is a tenth-century innovation and accusing those who use it of the "crassest stupidity" will really stop them? "Fellow mujahedin! Dr. Khaleel Muhammad has called us stupid! Let us lay down our arms!"
In fact, abrogation (naskh) is not a tenth-century innovation. It is based on the Qur'an itself: "Nothing of our revelation (even a single verse) do we abrogate or cause be forgotten, but we bring (in place) one better or the like thereof. Knowest thou not that Allah is Able to do all things?" (Sura 2:106).
Likewise, Akyol's contention that "the war verses describe only an abnormal state of affairs — in which the Muslim community faced an enemy that sought its annihilation — and verses that promote peace and tolerance describe the Islamic ideal" will do nothing to pacify radical Muslims, since they have argued again and again that today the Muslim community faces an enemy that seeks its annihilation. Thus even by Akyol's own standards, Muslims are justified to invoke the Qur'an's war verses and wage jihad today.
Then Akyol performs a neat pirouette to avoid the avalanche of quotations that Bostom, others, and I myself invoked from the hadith and sira -- traditions of the Prophet Muhammad and his biography -- to justify the killing of captives in Islam. He simply denies the authority of the sources:
Well, I don't question the Koran, which I believe to be the infallible Word of God, yet I, like many other contemporary Muslims, feel free to question traditional Islamic sources such as the hadith and sira. These were written at least one and a half centuries after the Prophet and we already know that there were many fake sayings attributed to and fables made up about Prophet Muhammad. The collection we have today was compiled by men most of whom had the best intentions, but good intentions are not enough to create an infallible source.
That's great for Mustafa Akyol, except for two small problems:
1. He immediately contradicts his own statement in the paragraph that follows by invoking two statements of Muhammad that are not in the Qur'an, but are taken from the Islamic traditions he just rejected.
2. Most Muslims accept the hadith and sira as authoritative. I am glad that he and other Muslim reformers reject them, but they face a herculean task in convincing the majority of their coreligionists to do so (particularly when Akyol rejects them and then uses them in practically the same breath).
But since Akyol rejects the authority of passages from Islamic law that Bostom and I cited in our respective replies, he doesn't have to answer or explain them. Instead, he spends the bulk of his article citing Muslim apologists and questionable historical sources to establish that in history, Muslims acted better. Once again, even if this is true, it establishes nothing: the mujahedin believe that they are acting in line with Islamic law, and historical examples don't disprove this.
In order to avoid ten years in prison as mandated by law in his native Turkey, in the course of his long-winded historical tour Akyol breezily dismisses the Armenian genocide, in which two million people were slaughtered, as "inter-communal violence," and blames the Armenians as much as the Ottomans.
This Holocaust denial in itself reveals the utter moral bankruptcy of Akyol's argument, but there is one more thing. He also sees dark motives behind what Bostom and Ibn Warraq (and, by implication, I also) are doing, seeing behind us the shadows of Stalin and Pol Pot:
Nevertheless, it seems to me that this all gives rise to a most disconcerting question here: What is the objective of Mr. Bostom? To de-legitimize moderates and to sanctify terrorists? Surely not. Although this may be an unfortunate by-product of what he says, I suspect his motive is much different: From his whole argument about Islam's supposedly inherent violence, there seems to derive implied appeal for full-scale secularization. This is very evident in Mr. Bostom's leniency to Ibn Warraq, an ex-Muslim who is now a fierce atheist and anti-Islamic polemicist. According to Ibn Warraq, as Mr. Bostom delightfully quotes, "There are moderate Muslims, but Islam itself is not moderate" and "Islam need [to] be marginalized for liberty to flourish."What Ibn Warraq does is to reiterate the dull atheists mantra — that religion shrinks our liberties and instead we must shrink religion to save them. From Epicurus to Nietzsche, from Freud to Richard Dawkins, this is the unholy crusade whose political fruits included mass murderers such as the Jacobins, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot.
And I am firmly against that secularist agenda.
In case you missed it, the sleight-of-hand he performs here is to equate Ibn Warraq's opposition to Islam with the opposition to Christianity that did indeed lead to the monstrous atheistic regimes of Jacobins, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot.
Ibn Warraq is indeed, as far as I know, an atheist, but this has nothing to do with the statements from him that Akyol quoted. "There are moderate Muslims, but Islam itself is not moderate" is not a call to Stalinist genocide; it is an observation that certain teachings of Islam itself enjoin violence against unbelievers. If you don't believe that, go back and read Sura 9:5 and what the Islam Q&A site makes of it.
I myself am not an atheist, and I do not reply to him out of some sinister cypto-Stalinism. I made it abundantly clear why I am doing this in an earlier reply to Akyol:
Why am I doing this? To make life difficult for a moderate? No. I am only trying to point out that Akyol's conclusion (the beheadings "stem from a kind of necrophilic nihilism, not from the essence of Islam") is unwarranted, and his argument will be unconvincing to a radical Muslim, who can invoke the authorities I have cited here and others.So in sum: Akyol's piece is not the kind of moderate Islamic presentation we need in order to neutralize the radicals. We need one that confronts and refutes their arguments; his simply ignores them. Those who are looking for moderate Muslims to rise up and refute the radicals should keep looking.
I stand by those statements. Akyol more and more seems to me like one who is trying to reassure jittery Westerners about Islam, rather than refute the radicals. But his reassurance is hollow, and is only likely to make people less guarded against future attacks by Muslims who do not accept his arguments. His arguments do nothing to stop jihadists from continuing their murderous work.
How can jihad be a 'spiritual' struggle for muslims? What do they have to 'struggle' against? The koran pretty well spells out in mind numbing detail how every aspect of their lives should be run. Everything from bodily functions to what to eat and not to eat to who they may and may not take as friends to exactly what to do with the infidels should they run across them and even how to lie and BS if things start to take a bad turn for islam...what is there to struggle against...its almost like prison, someone tells you what to do, when to do it and how to do it...and you dont question it (without concequences of course). As more and more non muslims become aware of and educated about islam and the koran and its teachings there will have to be more and more people like akyol to run interference....and when that no longer works (because I am sure it still works on plenty who havent read the koran) I have to wonder what their next step will be. I have noticed that in chat when a muslim comes in the first thing they do is try the ROP line, when that does not work and they realize that most of us have already read the koran they try the tactic that this person is using, telling us that we simply do not understand the verses and we are 'taking them wrong', when this does not work they instantly turn to violence stating that the west will be islamic and how the 'brave' islamic fighters are killing 'you infidels' everyday and how we will all surrender...etc....when they can no longer soothe the masses with akyols statements its likely we will see the violence come out over here...right in line with islams teachings...convert us first with words then with the sword.
While Akyol cannot bring himself to admit to what Muslims believe, and thus must fiddle with the texts and make claims, including engaging in many palpable absurdities -- along the way, rather casually abrogating the doctrine of abrogation itself, by telling us that "many" Muslim scholars "since the 19th century" have been telling us this.
What he does not say, of course, is that a handful of would-be reformers, confronted with the evidence of Western superiority and that of Muslim backwardness, started to grope toward an understanding that the problem with Muslim peoples and societies was -- Islam itself. That these "reformers" (a misnomer) all failed, that Islam proved mightily resilient and is proving so today -- it is, after all, the single most important fact of life, practically the only thing one must understand, to comprehend what is going on anywhere in the Muslim world, from the mass murders in Algeria, to the resistance both to democracy and to women's education in Afghanistan, from the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh to the attacks on Buddhists in Thailand, to the murders of Christians and destruction of thousands of churches all over Indonesia, from the murderous hatred toward the Infidel Americans even as they try only to rebuild, with tens of billions of dollars in American money, the country of Iraq for an ungrateful and essentially permanently hostile populace, to Turkey itself, where the edifice of Kemalist attempts to constrain Islam, and allow people such as Akyol even a modicum of Western free thought, blinds some -- blind him -- from the reality of Islam.
And then there is the historical record. Above, Robert rested his case, or rather his demolishment, on the canonical texts. Does Akyol not understand that hundreds of millions of people memorize those texts? They know, and approve, of what Muhammad did with the Bani
Qurayza, and what he did with many others, some whom he felt mocked him, in ordering or approving of their assassination. They know about Aisha, and they approve -- approve for today, because Muhammad is the perfect man, the perfect model, the one who could do no wrong.
What does Akyol make of the 60-70 million Hindus murdered by Muslim invaders? Has he read the casual comments on the enslavement and murder of these HIndus, even in Ibn Battuta? Has he read any of the historians, such as K. S. Lal? What does he make of the destruction of Zoroastrianism in Iran? Has he read Mary Boyce, not only as a historian, but as a reporter on the persecution of the few hundred thousand Zoroastrians, among whom she lived in the 1970s? Has Akyol dared to read the eyewitness accounts of the 1894-1896 massacre of the Armenians by both Turks and Kurds, as reported by American consuls and missionaries, and their constant emphasis on the religious basis for the murders -- the constant invocation of that word "giavour," and the fiendish glee with which priests were disemboweled? Does he really think that Islam sanctions only attacks when it is actively attacked? Islam is to continue on the attack -- all Muslims are to participate, actively or passively, in the Jihad (which has many instruments, including the newest one, demography) until Islam, the dar al-Islam, covers the globe. Does Akyol deny that that is what hundreds of millions of people are taught to believe, and do believe, and have acted on whenever they could?
Why does Akyol think that for a thousand years, Muslim raiders, foiled in their direct military confrontations, went up and down the seacoasts of Europe, all the way to Iceland, kidnapping, looting, raping and murdering, especially along the coasts of Italy? Why does he think the Bamiyan Buddhas were blown up -- were the Buddhists busilly forming an army to attack the Taliban? Why does he think, that now, today, "advanced" and "secularist" Turkey would never consider turning the Hagia Sophia back into a working church -- when mosques are open for business all over the Western world? What is it about Muslim attitudes -- is it just attitudes, or is it something that is taught, that is part of the religion -- that causes this?
And why, since he attacks Ibn Warraq, does he think so many highly intelligent people, born into Islam through no fault of their own, are choosing, when they are not punished for doing so, to leave Islam? And does he ever read their articles at www.secularislam.org, www.faithfreedom.org? Can he bring himself to read about Islam and Science, Islam and Women, Islam and Art? Why must he pretend that all's right, or potentially right, with Islam without saying -- if only, more in sorrow -- that the critics are right, and that (as a very few Muslims have said who wish to remain Muslims), some way must be found, if there is to be any modus vivendi between Islam and -- not the West -- but with the entire non-Muslim world, then Muslims themselves will have to confront, and somehow deal with those texts, perhaps giving them a metaphoric rather than a literal meaning.
Had Akyol written differently -- had he said, for example, that a few "reformers" had wished to abrogate abrogation itself, or that some Muslims had tried to do thus and so, but had failed, but Ataturk had himself constrained Islam by limiting its power, with laws as various as the Hat Act, the vote for women, the ending of Arabic script, preventing the too-religious (hijab wearers, for example) from entering government employment, and in the army, creating a system where the officers did not promote, or would cashier, those exhibiting signs of too-fervent a faith. Does Akyol know his own country? Does he know what Ataturk was up to?
Instead, he chose to indulge in the standard tactic of taqiyya, of that defensiveness that Bernard Lewis once identified as the standard mode of Muslim argument. He cannot, he will not, confront either the historical record, or the canonical texts. It is just too painful. So he makes up something that pleases him. And he hopes, o Infidel reader, that it will please you too.
Not here. Not now.

Theresa LePore vowed to close the Palm Beach County elections office at 5 p.m. Monday, the final day to register to vote in the Nov. 2 election, but a young man who arrived about 15 minutes after the deadline managed to drop off 550 applications on behalf of a group of Muslims determined to oust President Bush.
LePore, no stranger to confrontations, said the man demanded she accept the bundles of voter registration applications attached to slips of paper identifying them as having been collected by Voting Is Power, which goes by the acronym VIP and is an offshoot of the Washington-based Muslim American Society.

We can not change the Word of Allah

I suffer by the limitless grief for the Iraqi people because of the present monstrous and inhumane situation that exists presently in Iraq.
I agree with many Arab commentators that warn the kidnappers' actions in Iraq could irrevocably tarnish the image of Islam and the Arab world. I wish to prevent this. Iraq's ultimate success depends on building Iraqi capacity to take the country forward.
Presently everything happening in Iraq is gloomy stuff but its thrust is clear. Iraqis must take over as soon as possible.
I pray that God gives me strength to convince the kidnappers, insurgents and extremists to fear Allah, That there are serious consequences awaiting those who ascribe more than one entity to Allah. Fatwa were never authorized by Allah or the prophet , contradict
themselves and contradict the Quran. Believing in Allah means to believe Him and accept His teaching and His word. Choosing the scholars or the dictionary over Allah reflects a disbelief in Allah and His word (Quran).
"They have set up their religious leaders and scholars as lords; instead of Allah....." 9:31
“ So after the truth, what else can there be, save error?” (Quran 10:32) So those who "set up their religious leaders and scholars as lords; instead of Allah will indeed, forever be punished and then certainly he will be punished in the fire of Hell, wherein he shall dwell forever if they continue the killing of people and exploding cars in the streets, the kidnapping and murder of people in a manner which contradicts the teachings of Mohammad and was never authorized by Allah which reflects a disbelief in Allah and his word (Quran). These people have to remember there is nothing holy about a war in Islam (submission). To many people's ignorance, Islam (Submission) is also a word that share the same root of the Arabic word Salaam meaning peace. To Islam (Submission), war is unholy.
Allah knows, sees, and hears everything. His knowledge is perfect. He is the master of the Day of judgment. You must fear him if you take the words of religious leaders and scholars as lords, instead of Allah. 9:31 No devout Muslim would willfully attempt to tamper with the word of Allah.
Only if the kidnappers, insurgents and extremists immediately eliminate their source of disunity and strife and remember that Islam the faith is anchored in two fundamental conceptions: imàn (expression of faith) and ihsàn (right-doing) both are absolutely necessary for the establishment of one's faith as a Muslim. I wish only to eliminate the deviations that have set in by following these fatwa; they must remember as Muhammad said, " none of us shall take others for lords beside Allah. Lo! it is naught but a reminder to (his) creatures:"
All is beyond challenge but Allah is compassionate and forgiving. I pray Allah has given me command of the right words at this crucial moment what by immediately returning to the teachings of the Quran will bring victory and peace to the Iraqi people.
I hope by returning to our roots I have swayed the kidnappers, insurgents and extremists to join the average Iraqi and participate and help with the coming elections because once peace has returned to Iraq and very shortly ( in 3 months) after the elections are completed the American will return home and the Iraqi's once again will be the masters of their own destiny; deciding who they should be their leaders and how their country shall be rebuilt. As the Quran says, " Verily thy Lord hath caused His truth to descend upon thee. So be not of those who waiver. " This is the most critical point in the future of Iraq. This can be the climax of a long period of Iraqi suffering. The kidnappers, insurgents and extremists must immediately Muhammad stressed the inevitable doom awaiting the skeptics and disbelievers on the day of reckoning.
We must remember, as The Prophet Mohammad has taught us that all that has happened, all that is happening and all that will happen is by God’s design. So we only can blame ourselves for the misery we are suffering because of our no obeying God’s laws. If we wish
to end our suffering we must love our neighbors as we love God.
You must remember what Allah said when he spoke to Muhammad for the last time said. " This day are those who disbelieve in despair of (ever harming) your religion, so fear them not, fear Me! This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favor unto you, and have chosen for you as religion AL-ISLAM:"
We each are living out Allah’s plan; Allah know each of us before we were born. What ever we do we can not hide it from Allah. As Mohammad once said this one, by his actions was made for Paradise and this one, by his actions was made for the fire of Hell. The Jihad Organization lie to the Iraq people by urging them to entering into blind jihads led by the misguided that only increase the tribulations of the entire Muslim community by not telling to young Iraqi’s that suicide bombings according to the Quran guarantees punishment “in the fire of hell, wherein he shall dwell forever.”“ indeed, whoever (intentionally) kills himself, then certainly he will be punished in the fire of Hell, wherein he shall dwell forever.”
Suicide bombing by young uninformed Muslim youths has been carried out almost routinely as a mean of revenge in the Middle East conflict. It is mainly done to avenge their oppression, occupation and loss of freedom they have been experiencing all their life. It is carried out by the youth who lost all the hope to a peaceful settlement as they witnessed their families, loved ones, neighbors, and the innocent bystanders die or tortured at the hand of a merciless occupying force. Despite these intolerable situation no permission can be found in Islam to avenge by suicide bombing or by targeting the innocent civilians. These young desperate Muslim youth have been taught what is NOT in the Quran, and what was never promised by Allah in the Holy book, wherein to dwell forever. My pleas go directly to the kidnappers, insurgents and extremists that the righteousness of jihad are at odds with Islamic teachings in the Quran. Presently on the streets of Iraq, the calls for jihad by clerics are rising and spreading into the mainstream in Iraq. These clerics message is finding an eager audience, especially among the young, insurgents and extremists.
I warn that it is obligatory upon the spiritual leaders and scholars of Iraq to fear God if they do not exert themselves in ending this evil of adding to the Quran by publishing fatwa (edicts). Fatwa were never authorized by Allah or the prophet , contradict themselves and contradict the Quran. Believing in Allah means to believe Him and accept His teaching and His word. Choosing the scholars or the dictionary over Allah reflects a disbelief in Allah and His word (Quran).

Allah called this kind of practice, idol-worship choosing the scholars or the dictionary over Allah reflects a disbelief in Allah and His word (Quran). If we break Allah's law we move ourselves away from His mercy and lose His support. We should know that it is by following Allah's law in the
Quran we will gain dignity and sovereignty on our land while achieving peace, tolerance and love to the whole world around us. Prophet Muhammed himself never advocated any books but the Quran and even instructed his followers NOT to write or collect such books.

Presently many of the scholars in Iraq are engaging in major acts of disbelief, which takes them out of the fold of Islam in board daylight and in front of all the people, we find fatwa (verdict) from some religious organizations. This is precisely what happened after the prophet Muhammad's death; Hadith (oral) and Sunna (actions) were invented and attributed to the Prophet. Hadith and Sunna are satanic innovations because they:
[1] defy the divine assertions that the Quran is complete, perfect, fully detailed, and shall be the only source of religious guidance (6:19, 38, 114 & 45:6-7),
[2] blaspheme against the Prophet and depict him as a vicious tyrant who did not uphold the Quran, and
[3] create false doctrines based on superstition, ignorance, and indefensible nonsensical traditions. The prophet Muhammad was enjoined, in very strong words, from issuing any religious teachings besides the Quran (69:38-48).
I pray that Allah bless the Iraqi people with peace, because until I have swayed the kidnappers, insurgents and extremists to join the average Iraqi and participate and help with the coming elections because once peace has returned to Iraq and very shortly ( in 3 months) after the elections are completed the American will return home and the Iraqi's once again will be the masters of their own destiny; deciding who they should be their leaders and how their country shall be rebuilt.

The logic of using brute force to achieve democratic goals is insane so I pray that a truce is called to allow 100% free elections in all parts of Iraq. This will save 10,000's Iraqi of lives and prevent millions of dollars of destruction.
Resorting to iron and fire to prepare for elections is a flawed method, by giving the elections a fair chance will shows Iraqi Unity and is the fastest way to get the American Military forces to leave Iraq.
Without a immediate truce for the Iraqi National elections; in the name of Allah I also fear with a continued insurrection the issue of Kirkuk could provoke civil war. Kurds may also call for Kirkuk's huge oil revenues to be only directed to them.
Presently every Iraqi just wants the fighting to end. Many civilians die or are injured every day. But
if the situation does not change by November 3, 2004 all I can say is the kidnappers, insurgents and extremists do not share the same fear of Allah that I have.

Could you shed more light on how the hadiths( traditions of mohammed) came about?
Do we actually see a gap of 200 years before their compilation by those such as the recognized A-bukhari? Can we really attribute some 24,000 hadiths to but one man in his lifetime?
The Hadiths where once said to be as much as 60.000 --I always find the math on this unrealistic for a man or prophet who did not begin to recite what was told to him in a cave by the Arch Angel Gabriel until he had apparently reached the wise old age of 40.
If you or an Islamic scholar could shed some light on these questions, it would be of great interest.

There is very little to say beyond that said by Robert Spencer and Hugh Fitzgerald except to reinforce the concept that Islam will stand for no critical scrutiny and thus scholars can hem and haw and dance around, throwing up arguments and smokescreens, but in the end the all come to naught. Islam will not be Islam without the specter of the "perfect man" and the deception and violence that are written into the Koran and Sira and depicted in the various ahadiths describing Mohammed. Violence and deception, promoting Islam using any means possible is dyed in the wool of the fabric of Islam. This isn't rocket science. Any fool can see that!
I stand by those statements. Akyol more and more seems to me like one who is trying to reassure jittery Westerners about Islam, rather than refute the radicals. But his reassurance is hollow, and is only likely to make people less guarded against future attacks by Muslims who do not accept his arguments. His arguments do nothing to stop jihadists from continuing their murderous work.
I agree with you Mr. Spencer. Today's Muslim spokesman are very interested in polemics. Trying to convince Westerners of the purity and righteousness of Islam. All part of their Da'wa. All very nice but they'll never be able to obliterate or explain away the murderous side of the Koran and the murderous "examples" of Muhammad. Not to my satisfaction.

Fatwa were never authorized by Allah or the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah raise his rank and grant him Peace), edicts contradict themselves and can not be added to the Quran, the infallible Word of God. Presently many of the scholars in Iraq are engaging in major acts of disbelief, which takes them out of the fold of Islam in board daylight and in front of all the people, we find fatwa (edicts) from some religious organizations.
Believing in Allah means to believe Him and accept His teaching and His word. Choosing the scholars or the dictionary over Allah reflects a disbelief in Allah and His word (Quran). "They have set up their religious leaders and scholars as lords; instead of Allah....." 9:31 “So after the truth (Quran), what else can there be, save error?” (Quran 10:32)
It is obligatory upon the spiritual leaders and scholars of Iraq if they do not exert themselves in ending this evil of adding to the Quran by publishing fatwa (edicts) they do not fear Allah. Fatwa were never authorized by Allah or the Prophet Muhammad ( May Allah raise his rank and grant him peace), they contradict themselves and contradict the Quran. Believing in Allah means to believe Him and accept His teaching and His word.
We each are living out Allah’s plan; Allah knew each of us before we were born. What ever we do we can not hide it from Allah. As Mohammad once said this one, by his actions was made for Paradise and this one, by his actions was made for the fire of Hell.
The Jihad Organizations lie to the insurgents and extremists, kidnappers, hard-core criminals, disgruntled, frustrated and overzealous youth from many Arab Countries by urging them to entering into blind jihads. These Organizations are led by these misguided individuals that only increase the tribulations of the entire Muslim community by not telling to young insurgents that suicide bombings according to the Quran guarantees punishment “in the fire of hell, wherein they shall dwell forever.” We must ask our selves why in Iraq we do not see the scholars or religious leaders of these Jihad Organizations using themselves as suicide bombers? Because they know“ indeed, whoever (intentionally) kills
himself, then certainly he will be punished in the fire of Hell, wherein he shall dwell forever.
Suicide bombing by young uninformed Muslim youths have been carried out almost routinely as a mean of revenge in the Iraqi conflict. These young uniformed Muslim youth blindly obey older religious leaders or scholars who take advantage of them because they are so easily convinced to avenge their oppression, occupation and loss of freedom that they have been experiencing all their life to obeying these fatwa (edicts) “which are blaspheme against Allah” and become suicide bombers.
These suicide bombers to not live to see and witness the families members they have destroyed, the killing of someone’s loved ones or neighbors. The innocent bystanders who die or are tortured throughout their life, having to live and suffer without legs, arms or their sight without their loved ones or neighbors.
These suicide bombers created an intolerable situation, no permission can be found in Islam to avenge by suicide bombing or by targeting the innocent civilians. These young desperate Muslim youth have been taught what is NOT in the Quran, and what was never promised by Allah in the Holy book, by intentionally) killing themselves, they certainly will be punished in the fire of Hell, wherein where they shall dwell forever and ever.
I pray my Muslim brothers in Iraq will remember these things before Allah announces his verdict on you, presently those who do not fear Allah are blocking the ability of ordinary Iraqi’s to take control of their own country. By continue to inflict misery and harm on their fellow Muslims brothers in Iraq they are guaranteeing that the American Coalition will have to stay in Iraq for years.
These fatwa (edicts) are presently causing limitless grief and sadness for our Muslim brothers in Iraq. These militant insurgents and extremists, kidnappers, hard-core criminals, disgruntled, frustrated and overzealous youth from many Arab Countries that blindly obey these fatwa (edicts) have created a monstrous and inhumane situation unnecessarily in Iraq by killing and harming mostly their fellow Muslim Brothers. Already 1,000’s of Iraqi men, women and children have been already killing by exploding cars or bombs or in the cross fire of shooting , mortar or grenade attacks in streets crowded with Iraqi Civilians. Unfortunately most of the men, women and children who you are hurt and killed most often have nothing to do with anything but are just ordinary Iraqi trying to live, praying for their nightmare to end. Those that follow these fatwa (edicts) how can you call your actions acts of resistance, all your doing is maximizing the suffering of your Muslim brothers in Iraq. In the name of Allah we must immediately eliminate this source of disunity and strife. These religious leaders and scholars who publish fatwa (edicts) are not lords; instead of Allah....." "They have set up themselves as lords; instead of Allah....." 9:31
Our faith is anchored in two fundamental conceptions: imàn (expression of faith) and ihsàn (right-doing) both are absolutely necessary for the establishment of one's faith as a Muslim.
Presently you have to understand your actions are not ihsàn; right-doing for the Iraqi men, women and children that you are killing and maiming by exploding cars and bombs in the streets or shooting mortar or grenade launchers into the crowded streets.
Unfortunately the militant insurgents and extremists, kidnappers, hard-core criminals, disgruntled, frustrated and overzealous youth from many Arab Countries who are by following these fatwa (edicts) and following a blind Jihad in Iraq are only playing into the hand s of the American Coalition by guaranteeing them a reason to remain in Iraq for years and years. By following these fatwa (edicts) mostly you are hurting and killing our Muslim brothers ordinary Iraqi men, women and children just trying to live. How can you call your actions acts of resistance, all your doing is maximizing the suffering of the Iraqi people and playing into the hands of the American coalition by giving them the excuse to remain in Iraqi for years.
l still hope and pray for an immediate peaceful settlement; as King Abdullah II of Jordan said in an interview, Sept. 29, 2004, "that if the elections in Iraq were held today the Extremists would win. Today in Iraq the best organized factions are the extremists. The results of the election will reflect this advantage for the extremists.
I, myself pray that Allah blesses Iraq and the Middle East with Peace. The moment the elections are finished the Americans will have to begin going home. The most American soldiers are also believers in Allah. Infidels by definition are non believers in Allah; Idol worshipers. They like you are created by Allah with Wives, children and families and would be happier than you to soon be able to return home to their families and loved ones.
We have to remember if we break Allah's law, by obeying false lord’s fatwa (edicts) we move ourselves away from His mercy and lose His support. MY brothers in Iraq you have forgotten that Allah will send upon you humiliation and will not remove it from you until you return to (practicing) our religion (correctly),” Only when we stop killing our brothers and exploding cars in the streets, the kidnapping and murder of people in a manner which contradicts the teachings of Mohammad and was never authorized by Allah which reflects a disbelief in Allah and his word (Quran). These people have to remember there is nothing holy about a war in Islam (submission). If we call a truce and even move up the date of the January elections, the sooner the American Coalition force will have to leave Iraqi soil, ending their occupation and give the Iraqi people the control of their destiny.
Also the present dramatic increase in violence in Iraq has harmed our Palestinian brothers by giving the Genocide Policies of Sharon a perfect cover where he has killed hundreds of our defenseless Palestinian Brothers in the last weeks. Once our situation in Iraqi has stabilized, Sharon Policies of Palestinian Genocide will get the international attention urgently needed, to force him to end his slaughter of hundreds of innocence Palestinians men, women and children immediately.
We must trust in Allah and immediately end the present unholy situation in Iraqi of Muslims brothers fighting and killing Muslim brother. This can be done only by immediate calling a ceasefire in the name of Allah. So we can rush toward elections; that is the only and fastest way to end the present occupation of Iraq, and return Iraqi to the Iraqi People.

On November 3, 2004, US warplanes will pounded the Iraqi towns for days in an ongoing push to wrest hotspots from rebel hands before the January elections
It will be impossible to verify the casualty situation on the ground, but thousands of men, women and children will be among those killed and wounded in these strikes.
Unfortunately the people who will hurt most are normal people who have nothing to do with anything.
Every part of Iraq under insurgent control will have to come back to Iraq ... because all Iraqis have to participate in the elections.
The logic of using brute force to achieve democratic goals is insane so I pray that a truce is called to allow 100% free elections in all parts of Iraq. This will save 10,000's Iraqi of lives and prevent millions of dollars of destruction.
To resorting to iron and fire to prepare for elections is a flawed method, but to continue to fight each other in the name of Allah does not make sense.
Allah grants all knowledge; I pray Allah opens the eyes and opens the hears of my brothers in Iraqi to just stop killing each other.
I pray my brothers hear the wisdom of not fighting each other; by stopping completely and immediately have their election and immediately after the elections the occupation will end and all the American coalition will go home.
That is using wisdom that I pray Allah will bless you with. This way Allah is giving you serve a future of peace and self rule,
To continue to fight is only playing into the hands of coalition.They will use the insurgents as a reason to never leave Iraq.
To stop now! To wait for an election in 3 months will be true wisdom.
I pray Allah blesses my brothers with true wisdom; an immediate end to the occupation after the election.
The insurgence is won without firing one more shot, the insurgence is won without the loss of LIFE of one more man, woman or child.
THAT IS WISDOM, I PRAY THAT SOMEHOW MY BROTHERS IN IRAQI CAN HEAR THIS WISDOM.
My brothers please remember what is happening in Iraq is not a crusade; it is pure HELL for the Iraqi People. After the election the occupation will end and all the American coalition soldiers will go home.
THEN we can turn our attention to a REAL CRUSADE!>>> ENDING THE SLAUGHTER OF OUR PALESTINIANS BROTHERS!
