Comments: problem solved (?)

I have heard that some of you have never been able to post comments since we put in the registration system, and others have had trouble lately. Please try again if you so desire; we've found and eliminated a few small and subtle bugs in the system, and I hope that will finally take care of these problems. I know, I've said that before -- so please email me at director@jihadwatch.org if you still can't post. And thank you for your patience.

UPDATE: Many of you have problems with your connection timing out, so that you have to sign in again. Unfortunately, that time limit is set by TypeKey and there's no way to alter it.

I can comment but I have to sign in again every time I do. Perhaps your website isn't leaving cookies the right way

dennisw:

Thanks. After what interval? I have to sign in again every time too, if it has been a little while between posts. I thought this was how the system worked, but I really don't know much about it. Please advise.

Thanks
RS

Robert - I can post on some stories and not on other, sometimes I must change browsers, and I have the same problem mentioned by dennisw WITHOUT an interval.

EPG:

Are you referring to things that happened today? The latest fix is very new.

Thanks
RS

Mr. Spencer.

The interval seem to vary. Just now I rebooted my computer and I had to sign in again. So turning the computer on and off screws up the cookie, for me at least. Blogs and online newspapers leave cookies that make constant logging in (signing in) unnecessary. Perhaps some posters are confused by this need to sign in again and wrongly representing it as, "I can't post damnit!".

I do indeed have jihadwatch cookie named---->> administrator@www.jihadwatch

My guess is your cookie is not properly written/coded

I'm using Internet Explorer.

I'm okay commenting but also find that it times out and logs me out after a short period. Not sure how long. I'll keep track of it next time. I don't often have the time to sit in front of the PC for great lengths of time. I'm often dashing around doing things and come back to my PC to find it's logged me off here. I think it can only be 6 or 7 minutes before it does that.

But the other odd thing I find is that when I refresh my screen, more comments suddenly show up. For instance, I'll go to the Comments of an article and it'll have two comments. If I Refresh, at least a couple more comments will suddenly show up, and they'll have been written several minutes beforehand, or longer.

I have not rebooted but now I have to sign in again. Took about 40 minutes.

Robert,

One thing everybody can do is:
go to Mozilla.com and download "firefox"
set it as the default browser.
It's free and works great for any comment or blog site.

There is also a problem with Explorer, that will allow some cookies to come through sometimes and the next time you try it, it won't allow that cookie at all.

They put out a patch that was suppose to fix this problem, but it doesn't.

This is what I had to do to get back on and several people have e-mailed from the site asking about this problem.

They have since done the same thing and are now on the site.

A couple of days ago I was having trouble signing out. The only way I could get out was to delete all cookies and temporary internet files.
