As Ramadan begins, some Muslims in Iraq see causing more mayhem to be a religious act -- and so life continues to be perilous for the Christians of Iraq. From AFP, with thanks to Kevin:
IRAQ'S tiny Christian community was targeted in a string of blasts at churches around Baghdad today, while a medic was killed when a mortar round exploded outside a hospital. As chaos returned to the streets, US and Iraqi troops held firm to positions around the rebel hub of Fallujah, west of the capital, in the hunt for Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi - the country's most wanted man who is blamed for some of the deadliest attacks here since last year's invasion.
In an apparently coordinated attack on the second day of the holy month of Ramadan, the church of Saint Joseph was hit at about 4am local time (11am AEST) followed by similar explosions over the next two hours outside four others.
One of the buildings, the Roman Catholic St George's church in the central Baghdad district of Karrada, was engulfed in flames, leaving the wood-built sanctuary completely charred.
"My family and I fled from the fire," said the church's priest Nabil Jamil Sulaiman, wandering around the mangled debris.
"Thanks God, there were no wounded or dead."
On the wall inside the charred remains of the church could be made out some words from the Bible talking of the broken body of Jesus Christ.
Monsignor Emmanuel Delly, the patriarch of the Chaldean Church, expressed the fears of his beleaguered community, who were the victims of a similar attack at the start of August that left 10 people dead and 50 injured.
"If the government is powerless, what can we do?" Monsignor Delly said.
"We call on them (attackers) not to touch the holy sites."...
Iraq's Christian community - which makes up just three per cent of the majority Muslim population - has been heavily targeted in the unrest that has swept Iraq following last year's US-led invasion and many have fled....
US troops arrested yesterday a Sunni Muslim cleric accused of preaching holy war (jihad), the military said.
Ahhh muslims celebrating their 'holy' holiday by doing a bit of bombing, just warms the heart huh (or more correctly turns the stomach) has to make me wonder exactly what is in those 'ramadan greeting cards' I keep seeing advertised on the net.
I have contacted my sons school and have been assured that there are no plans to bring in anyone to teach or explain the muslim faith, and even if there were it is that schools policy to inform parents beforehand of any lessons that the school may teach that are outside of regular school cirriculum...I was prepared to hang up when the pricipal asked me if I would object to my son learning about islam. I replied 'not at all' I do however object to him being taught the sanatized version and that at 13 he was old enough to read the koran if he was curious or come to his father or I both of whom have read it....she paused for a moment and told me that sounded a bit 'racist'(I didnt see how but she is obviously so infected with PC disease she did)...I replied that I would never encourage my son to dislike someone because of their race, no more than I would tolerate him making fun of someone with a physical defect as both of those things are beyond our control. Religion, however is a choice and I feel it is not wrong it critique a person for their CHOICE. She told me that because we live in a mulit-faith country that I should make my son tolerant of all faiths, I informed her I would do so right after a Jew was invited to speak at a mosque, or a priest was brought into a muslim school to discuss Easter...I then asked her if she has read the koran (she had not) and ended with 'madam may I suggest that you read the koran and then draw your conclusions' and couldnt resist adding 'and because muslims feel that the laws of Canada are not good enough and are doing their best to be governed under sharia law, please research sharia law and decide if it is a system that you would enjoy living under'....that was the first discussion on islam I have ever had with the school system here, I was astounded by how uneducated the leaders of my sons school were about islam. I am willing to bet this is the case in most schools, they are totally uneducated about islam yet they are willing to throw open the doors and let muslims in to teach it. I will be following up with a call to the school board to remind them that there can be NO religion taught in a public school, not even under the guise of 'better understanding muslims'
With the holiday movie season almost upon us isnt it wonderful that we can take the kids to see this film

"mohammed the last porphet"...discusses his life and teachings? I am shocked that they could rate this less than "R" I wonder how they handle the murdering and raping by mohammed, or his molestation of a 9 year old girl....what could they possibly fill 90 minutes with about mohammed that children could view? Anyhow I thought that making animations was against islam, wonder if theaters will be blown up for being blasphamous? I mean an animated image of MOHAMMED...someones not going to get their quota of virgins.
The bastards are lucky we don't fancy bombing mosques.
On a positive note the falluja offensive has started and hopefully, election pressures won't interfere in military ops. Should the US waver in fallujah, Iraq and the wider mideast is lost, folks. Am sure the insurgent snakes will hole up in mosques partly in desparation for protection and partly hoping the US bombs them there and creates outrage....
But guess what, enough churches bombed and someday we may change our mind about holy places being outta bounds, eh?
This is really sad. I am a Catholic. I heard of this site from listening to an interview of Mr. Spencer on the Al Cresta radio show. I never had a bad feeling towards the Muslum "religion". But day after day the culture of death proves what it is all about.
I will be in Iraq in a few months. I will be celebrating my faith there and I don't give a rats ass if it pisses them off or not.
Thank God there is a place that we can get the truth about what is actually going on.
Can you believe that on this mornings bbc news, this outrage was reported without the word "bombs" being used at all?
The report referred to explosions only and, I kid you not, contained the line "it is not known what caused the explosions"
Presumably al-beebzera were so afraid the truth would damage their cause they hoped to give the impression that the gas cookers in the kitchens of 5 churches had all developed a gas leak at the same time, and exploded.
Please, please, someone sell the bbc off so at least we don't have to carry on paying them to hate us.
So even the followers of the "Prophet" Jesus aren't safe in a predominantly Muslim area. With all the outrage by Muslims when a Mosque is damaged you would think they would go nuts when other innocent civilians are targeted.
Oh wait,I forgot the Quran defines the innocent as those that aren't the enemies of Islam,so even if Muslims claim Jesus is in the Quran as a Prophet, his followers are infidels by way of practising a false version of Islam.
In a earlier post on violence in Iraq and the endless beheadings,I predicted that the "Holy" period of Ramadan would see the peak of slaughtering in the name of Islam.
I would also like to assure people that the scam by Western Muslims to portray Islam as meaning "Peace and Tolerance" is getting harder to be seen as the scam that it is. American Muslims only make up about 0.0008 percent of the Worlds Muslims,so when CAIR spews its claim that it's the "Other" Muslims that are wrong, lets keep in mind that the other 99.9992 percent don't agree with CAIR's Western version of a perverted Islam that befriends the Jewish and Christian PIGS.
NO ISLAM - KNOW PEACE
For every Christian Church the Moslems interfere with in any way, the free world should confiscate ten of their mosques. If they scream and whine, confiscate them all.
Weatherob,
If in your Iraq travels you find some way that we here can do anything directly to support the Christian churches there, please let me know via

Of course, others reading this are welcome to post or send such information.

Speaking of the BBC, here a web site we should all take a look at:
www.bbcwatch.com
.......The BBC’s Charter and its Producers Guidelines state that the BBC shall…
• “…contain comprehensive, authoritative and impartial coverage of news and current affairs in the United Kingdom and throughout the world…”
• “…treat controversial subjects with due accuracy and impartiality… and…not contain any material expressing the opinion of the corporation…”
• “…Due impartiality lies at the heart of the BBC. All programs and services should be open minded, fair and show a respect for truth…The BBC applies due impartiality to all its broadcasting and services, both to domestic and international audiences…”

The BBC is an extremely influential news source. It is reputed to provide fair and
unbiased reporting of world political events, both within the UK and internationally.
It broadcasts news through TV, Radio and a much visited Internet site. Its principal language is English, which has established itself as the dominant language of world commerce, politics and education. The BBC World Service broadcasts in a number of other languages. Funded by a public tax the BBC is free from the need to attract advertising revenue. It also claims to be free from Government interference. All these factors combined enhance its credibility as an impartial news source and so increase its influence. However this influence is dependant upon the BBC maintaining its reputation for ‘accuracy and impartiality.’
The BBCWATCH reports demonstrate how the BBC consistently fails to adhere to its legal obligations to produce impartial and accurate reporting. Our systematic, objective and rigorous research points to the firm conclusion that the BBC frequently displays marked and consistent pro-Palestinian bias in their coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. Their inability to report on this subject in an impartial way raises questions over their ability to report on all other politically sensitive issues.
The third BBCWATCH report examines the BBC’s coverage of the recent war in Iraq.
A comparison of the way in which coalition troops and Israeli troops are reported when dealing with similar military problems provided a rare opportunity to compare like with like in a more direct way than our earlier studies have allowed. Our findings show a disquieting policy of discrimination in the way that Israel is treated by the BBC.
The British public continues to pay for this unfair, partial and inaccurate news service through the licence fee. We wonder whether it is healthy for Britain’s democracy that such huge public funds should be provided to what is an essentially monopolistic and unaccountable body. If the BBC cannot provide impartial news coverage it has no legitimate call on public funds simply to promote its own prejudices.
Weatherob says,
"This is really sad. I am a Catholic."
As sincere as you may believe, don't push the Christianity deal there.
"I will be celebrating my faith there..."
Celebrate quietly. Keep yourself safe.
