Osama Tape Leads U.S. to Raise Vigilance

In the run-up to the elections. From AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

WASHINGTON Oct 30, 2004 — Acting on the release of a new videotape from Osama bin Laden, the government has alerted state and local authorities to be extra vigilant ahead of Tuesday's elections.

The bulletin said the bin Laden tape and a second video from last week that showed a self-proclaimed American member of al-Qaida are "clearly intended to influence and instill fear in the American people."

"We remain concerned about al-Qaida's interest in attacking the American homeland, and we cannot discount the possibility that the video may be intended to promote violence or serve as a signal for an attack," according to the bulletin sent late Friday from the FBI and the Homeland Security Department.

It went to homeland security advisers, state and local police and select members of private industry.

Watch the Muslim militant bootlickers start crying about profiling now. Too bad for them. We've kept a watchful eye on Muslims since 9-11-01, and we'll continue to. After all, it isn't illiterate, red-haired, fair skinned, freckle faced Irish boys making threats to Americans, it's Muslims.

The Muslim groups inside the United States ought to know by now that no matter what lies they hope to spread to impressionable Americans, especially our children, we'll be there to put a boot in their asses, and set all records straight.

Just thought I would share??

Greetings To All My Family And Friends,
This is the second installment of my updates on what's going on with me and my unit in ------. I last wrote on September 14th, and things are pretty much the same as they were back then. We continue to fly around the clock, 7 days a week, depending on tasking. Tasking is based solely on the level of friendly and anti-coalition activity in our Area Of Responsibility (AOR). Our AOR covers Hit, Ar Ramadi, Fallujah, Baghdad, and the area along the Syrian border. There's been plenty going on lately, and we anticipate more activity right around the U.S.
election time frame. We typically carry Marines, Iraqi National Guard (ING), and Iraqi Special Security Forces around our AOR, but frequently transport prisoners to Abu Ghurayb, and occasionally carry casualties (both sides) to the mortuary affairs people around the AOR. The bad guys are still trying to shoot down helicopters, but our tactics/countermeasures have continued to keep all of my guys safe. We had a suicide driver pull up to our front gate a couple of days ago and set off a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), killing 10 and wounding 5. All of the dead/injured were Iraqis waiting to get on base for Iraqi police training camp. The terrorists are mostly killing their own people these days, because it's too hard to get at the U.S.
military personnel; and we shoot back. The argument that they are just fighting the "infidels" is not holding too much water these days. They are trying to discredit U.S. efforts by continuing to wreak havoc and chaos throughout the country. I'm sorry to see that their efforts/accomplishments are what's making international and U.S. news these days. We never see stories about the positive strides we are making in helping the Iraqi people. Here are just a few of the positive things that have happened in Iraq in the last 1 1/2 years: The United States has completed roughly 30,000 projects in Iraq, including the
following: Renovating 2,405 schools and training 33,000 teachers and administrators. We have opened, or are in the process of reopening, 240 hospitals and 1,200 clinics. We have restarted the banking system, and a lot of the Americans serving here are investing in the dinar. We have vaccinated 3 million children against measles, mumps and rubella. We have surpassed the prewar electricity output for the country. We have printed and distributed 8.7 million math and science textbooks.
It's true that "there are no-go zones in Iraq for U.S. forces. But 18 months ago, the whole country was a no-go zone. This is a process, an undertaking of years."
Regardless of how Americans feel about the reasons for us being here, I believe we are doing the right thing in helping these people that have lived under the control of a tyrant for the past 30 years. I also believe that the "Islamic Fundamentalists" must be stopped now, rather than wait for the situation to truly reach our shores. The events of September 11, 2001 were not an isolated incident of terrorists attacking the United States and our way of life. Whether it's the Beirut bombing of the Marine barracks in 1983 that killed 243 Marines, the bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen, the variety of attacks against U.S. and allied embassies, or the first or second bombing of the World Trade Center, the "Islamic Fundamentalist" problem has been around for a long time, and will not go away with the launch of a few cruise missiles, as was often the answer in years gone by. If the "problem" is not addressed now, in this place, then it will have to be addressed later, possibly on our own shores. Americans have been known throughout our history as a country that could accomplish the impossible. If we can't help Iraq become a "free" country, then who will be able to do it? The fundamentalists know that if democracy succeeds in Iraq, then it will spread throughout the Middle East, and their strength/control will be lost to the strength of the people/governments that choose democracy over tyranny. It won't be quick, and there will be a price to pay, but if any country can help in this success, the United States can. I believe that this success will help shape the future of the world more than any of us can imagine right now. A young Marine that works for me said it best; when asked if he stood behind his country during this difficult time, his response was "no, I stand in front of it". I got choked up the first time I heard that.
Sorry for the political commentary, but the Marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen serving as part of the Global War On Terrorism are tired of politicians, political pundits, and news people speaking for them, and trying to "protect us" during this election year. We believe in this mission, and that we are doing good things to help the future security of the world for our children. If our great nation doesn't stand up to help fix the "Islamic Fundamentalist" problem, who will?
Sometimes doing the right thing is neither easy, nor popular. Alright, enough of that. The temperatures here have dropped off substantially, and it's quite comfortable now. The day time highs are in the high 80's, and the night time lows are in the low 50's. We still work 12-15 hours days, by-and-large, but still have time off to exercise, do some reading, and watch a little TV. I got to catch the Red Sox/Yankees series, as I was flying nights during that period, and was able to catch the last few innings of each game. What an awesome come back! Our softball team has a 3-0 record right now, and has another game starting in about 1/2 hour, so I'll bring this to a close (in fine American tradition, the motto on the makeshift scoreboard is "damn the rockets, Play Ball!"). On a personal schedule note, I'll be back in CONUS by -----, and will return to Iraq in ----- of next year. I will have my change of command for the squadron in ------- (anyone that wants to come to Iraq for my change of command ceremony get your reservations in early, the demand is high!), and am unsure of what happens from there (). I have inserted 2 web links below. The first one is my personal photo web site, and the second is a web site one of my Marines put together/manages.
Lots of pictures in there for your enjoyment/perusal. I hope everyone is having a great Fall season, and I'll talk to you all again soon.

Letter to Families - Dated 19 October 2004

Hello again, after a long hiatus. Last 6 weeks or so have been busy as we worked to establish the new battalions in their areas of operations and worked to get the "old' battalions home. 3/7, 2/7, and 1st LAR are all safely home and on their block leave period. 1/7, 1/23, and 3d LAR have assumed their battle space and continue to perform superbly. The enemy, as e expected, is surging as we approach the U.S. and Iraqi election period and enter Ramadan. Enemy activity in this AO has picked up, to the enemy's etriment. They are not very smart, and when they decide to come out and fight, are easily killed. His patterns remain the same as we saw in April: ove 50-150 terrorists into a city or community, use terror and intimidation to assume control, kill and maim local citizens, get his picture taken with hs RPG and AK-47, then wait to see himself on the evening news.
Interesting side note to ask how often you see pictures of these guys posturing and how often you see pictures of them fighting. Then compare that to how often you see pictures of U.S. servicemen fighting and how often you see pictures of them posturing. Provides a good metric for who is winning this thing: the enemy postures when the cameraman is present, but when it comes to fighting he is the most base of cowards. You don't see many images of these guys fighting because they're too busy hiding or running once the fighting starts. They're much more comfortable beheading innocents. Side note also demonstrates how, with the best of intentions and within the rightful bounds of our constitution, the press becomes unwitting collaborators in the enemy's information operations campaign. This is a
fight for the will of the American and the Iraqi people. He targets the Iraqis through murder and intimidation; he targets you through the images.
Anyway..we have fought him well in a number of engagements over the past week or so. TF 1/23, 1/8 and 2d Force Recon Co performed magnificently in
an operation in the city of Hit that killed 30 or so terrorists without harming an innocent Iraqi and restored both security and governance to a city taken over by the bastards for a 72 hour period last week. Of greater significance, the 503d Iraqi National Guard Bn fought as the RCT-7 main effort, were the first
ones into the city, and remains there today providing security for the community.
The enemy chased out of Hit moved into the city of Rawah about 50 miles west, TF 1/8 and an Iraqi Army Unit hunted them down there, killed 10-15
more and restored that community to its citizens. In other parts of the AO, Iraqi police and National Guard and Border Police have fought off numerous
attacks on their own...in my mind the most striking example of the progress we continue to make across the AO. The enemy cannot maintain this surge for
long: the Iraqi people are rapidly tiring of him, the Iraqi Security Forces are fighting back, and we are killing them with stunning regularity. He
surges in order to influence the American and Iraqi elections; when both proceed as planned, his efforts will begin to crumble. We now have 2 police
academies, 2 ING training academies, and 2 Iraqi Border Police Training Academies operational. We continue to see the fruits of these efforts in
The increasing professionalism, confidence, and competence of the Iraqi Security Forces. Firefights are dramatic and make the news; but where we are going
to win this is through the establishment of viable Iraqi Security Forces. It is a challenging road, fraught with friction, but every day we see progress.
Training ISF remains our main effort and will continue to be both our main effort and our ultimate ticket home with victory. The civil effort
continues apace also. Our most significant current effort is the construction of the hospital in Ar Rutbah..a $1M effort that will provide medical services to a
community currently 4 hours away from the closest medical care. Your Marines and Sailors continue to perform with courage and intellect in this most
complex and ambiguous of conflicts.

We are anxiously awaiting election day in the hopes that the media picture and national dialogue will transition from the subjectivity of politics to
the objectivity of national interest. Building a democracy is a dirty business-has been throughout the history of democracy from ancient Greece through the present day. Regard our national effort here through the prism of that reality. RCT-7 remembers the sacrifices of LCpls A. R. Boyles and R. Mateo, KIA 24 Sep 2004 vic Fallujah; Cpl. I.T. Zook, KIA 12 Oct 2004 vic Husaybah; Cpl W.I. Salazar KIA 15 Oct 2004 vic Husaybah; Sgt Owen, U.S. Army, KIA 15 Oct 2004 vic Husaybah; SPC J. Santos, U.S. Army, KIA 15 Oct 2004 vic Husaybah. Please remember their families in your prayers. Share your Courage. And stand fast.

PSS
Notice that Iran came out today with matching lines from ubl[YELLOW COWARD WHO RUNS AWAY] and ubl[YELLOW COWARD WHO RUNS AWAY] as the goat boy???

Run osama, run, you're under the gun . . .

saw your video,
saw a tiger turned pussycat.
How do you like running hard,
hounds braying at your heels?
Are you out of breath yet?
How does it feel to be tracked
like an animal, confined, backed
against a wall? Are your bones
aching, your organs disintegrating?
Do you live on poppy juice
or do you live at all?

Run osama, run. You're under the gun . . .
you want to be like mo,the perfect man,
but what do you do when the grand plan
doesn't work? if you make a video
and we don't care? Do you dare look
defeat in the face and pray
to your moon god allah and say
it is his will that someone like you dies
in the desert while sand fills the air,
gasping for precious breath that's not there,
dies not as a hero and martyr
but as deserving a demon in disguise?

We've kept a watchful eye on Muslims since 9-11-01, and we'll continue to.
You are right DCWatson. There is a peaceful group that is watching very carefully. They are not making any waves or noise. They are trusting the elected governments to be responsible in taking the steps to ensure the interest and safety of the citizens and country is the first priority. When it is determined by this group the elected people have failed their duty beyond any doubt, the group will ensure they will be replaced. - by force if need be. Make no mistake - it could happen. If and when that happens, the Muslims will be dealt with in a manner beyond belief. By all indications, the politicians and Muslims haven’t a clue who this group is. So, all the politicians and governments had better realize their PC policies that are dictating Muslims rights and freedoms over the citizens is leading to total disaster. It is not if - it is when.

Thank You Catherine for your post. We should have more communications with the troops that are there - doing it - telling it like it is - not some PC cooperate “News” outfit that distorts everything to suit some greedy agenda. Thank You.

Sadly, Bush is pleased about Osama's "gift" to his campaign. That's not my opinion. That's what GOP insiders admit:

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/247753p-212149c.html

"We want people to think 'terrorism' for the last four days," said a Bush-Cheney campaign official. "And anything that raises the issue in people's minds is good for us."

A senior GOP strategist added, "anything that makes people nervous about their personal safety helps Bush."

He called it "a little gift," saying it helps the President but doesn't guarantee his reelection.

Mahathir Mohamad's Open Letter to American Muslims: Vote Kerry
Mahathir, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, thinks Jews secretly run the world, and that the United States should not interfere in the affairs of other countries. But that doesn't stop him from trying to interfere in the affairs of the United States. From IslamiCity, with thanks to L:
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In the past four years, during the Presidency of George W. Bush, the Muslims and their countries have suffered oppression and humiliation as never before in the history of Islam. There is an obvious connection between the sufferings of the Muslims and the policies and thinking of Bush.
We cannot expect much change to the policies of the United States of America towards Islam and the Muslims under Democrats as under Republicans. But we have a duty to ensure that Bush will not be able to determine our fate for four more years....
Dear Brothers and Sisters. Vote Bush out of office. It is truly an ibadah that you perform.
DR MAHATHIR BIN MOHAMAD
Former Prime Minister of Malaysia,
Malaysia
It's a shame that he resorts to this sort of thing instead of confronting the violence and radicalism within the Islamic community--as if all that Bush has done is unprovoked.

Arafat Backs Kerry; Israelis Favor Bush
Patrick Goodenough, CNSNews.com
Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004
Relying on the traditional support of Jewish voters, the Kerry-Edwards campaign might not welcome news from the Middle East on how the parties to the Arab-Israeli conflict view the election.
Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority on Monday gave its first public indication of which candidate it would like to see in the White House next year. "If Bush wins, he said he would renew efforts to resume the peace process," PA foreign minister Nabil Shaath told BBC in London. "However, with the staff that surrounds him and with his current opinions, it doesn't look promising."
Under a Kerry administration, however, "it would be likely that several staff members during Clinton's administration would return," Shaath said. "That would be a good thing, but it could take at least a year before a policy is formulated."
Elaborating on the PA's unhappiness with the incumbent, Palestine Media Center, an official PA institution, said Palestinians held the Bush administration responsible for Israel's isolation of Arafat since the end of 2001.
"Bush's refusal to deal with Arafat was interpreted by Palestinians as another 'green light' for Israel to impose and to maintain the siege on Arafat," it said.
The comments add substance to an assessment in July by Israel's military intelligence chief, Major-General Aharon Ze'evi, who was quoted as telling the cabinet, "Arafat is now waiting for the month of November in the hope that President Bush will be defeated in the presidential election and turned out of his office."
The PA's view on the election contrasts sharply with that of Israeli leaders, who have echoed the words spoken by former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Washington in 2002: "There has never been a greater friend of Israel in the White House than President George W. Bush."
Last week, in a coordinated survey of opinions in 10 key countries in Europe, Asia and North America, Israel was one of only two countries - the other was Russia - where poll respondents favored Bush over Kerry (by 50 percentage points to 24).
Other polls in Israel have indicated that a majority of Israelis are grateful to Bush for going to war against Iraq and toppling Saddam Hussein, a sworn enemy of the Jewish state.
'Force of Habit'
Jewish organizations in the U.S. say Jewish voters base their choice largely on domestic issues, and most are liberals.
Writing in the Boston Globe last month, columnist Jeff Jacoby attributed Jewish loyalty to the Democrat ticket to historical factors.
"In the 19th and early 20th centuries, waves of Jewish immigrants from Europe, where the most anti-Semitic elements of society were often the most conservative, brought with them an intense aversion to right-wing politics - and an appreciation for the left, which they associated with emancipation and equality."
Jacoby argued that the U.S. in 2004 was a very different country. "American Jews owe it to themselves to base their political loyalty on something stronger than force of habit."
Israel is a very important factor for American Jews.
In its annual opinion survey, published last month, American Jewish Committee found that 75 percent of Jewish respondents felt "very close" or "fairly close" to Israel.
Seventy-four percent agreed that "caring about Israel is a very important part of my being a Jew."
Respondents in AJC's survey backed Kerry over Bush by 69 points to 24.
That support for the Democrats constitutes a drop from the last three elections. President Bill Clinton won 80 percent of the Jewish vote in 1992 and 78 percent in 1996. In 2000, Al Gore won 79 percent of the Jewish vote, and Bush garnered only 19 percent.
Republican Jewish Coalition has been drawing attention to other recent endorsements of Kerry, which it says Jewish voters should be worried about - those of Arab-American PAC and Muslim-American PAC.
"Clearly these groups do not support President Bush because of his unwavering support for Israel and his relentless war against Islamic terrorists," RJC executive director Matthew Brooks said in a statement Monday.
"The endorsements of John Kerry by these two anti-Israel groups speaks volumes and should serve as a warning to Jewish Americans who think John Kerry is on their side."
'Statesman'
Brooks noted that Kerry called Arafat a "statesman" in his 1997 book, "The New War." ("Terrorist organizations with specific political agendas may be encourage by Yasser Arafat's transformation from outlaw to statesman," Kerry wrote.)
Bush has pointedly refused to invite Arafat to the White House during the past four years, a far cry from the days of the last Democrat administration, at the end of which Time magazine reported that "President Clinton has held more tete-a-tetes with the Palestinian leader than any other world leader during his eight years in office."
On its Web site, National Jewish Democratic Council presents what is says are the candidates' records on Israel.
On Arafat, it notes that Kerry said in March that the PA chairman had "proved himself to be irrelevant," but it makes no reference to the 1997 assessment of Arafat as a statesman.
As for Bush, NJDC noted that Bush in 2002 was quoted as saying he would not label Arafat a terrorist because he "has agreed to a peace process." The council made no reference to the fact Bush made Arafat persona non grata at the White House.
On Israel's security fence, NJDC highlighted the Bush administration's concerns about the route of the barrier rather than its support for Israel's right to build it.
It also ignored that fact that the administration opposed the right of International Court of Justice to rule on the matter.
On the other hand, it cited comments by Kerry in February and April 2004 showing that he "strongly supported Israel's right to build" the barrier.
NJDC made no mention of another Kerry quote on the fence, last October, when he told an Arab-American audience the fence was "provocative," "counterproductive" and a "barrier to peace."

Mega~ Of course the other choice, you pessimist, is your candidate- whom OBL will really be cheering for if he makes it thru. It won't be long after he pulls our troops out and hands them over to the UN, before those same troops are forced to stand by and watch as people die by the tens of thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan. Just as the UN ignore the Sudan now; just as the UN and Clinton ignored Rwanda then.

Did anyone else get an email like this?:

Fw: Republican View of Bush Administration BEFORE YOU VOTE READ THIS !!

It looks very much like a 'vote for Kerry' message, even tho it is claimed to be an editorial by a Republican in a Florida newspaper.

I will Not print the text here. We have enough to do to solve this war without the efforts of pessimists to undermine the POTUS and aim the USA towards becoming the USSA.
