It looks as if the jihad in Bosnia followed traditional Islamic patterns going all the way back to the Prophet Muhammad, who massacred the men of the Banu Qurayzah and ordered the exile of other Jewish tribes of Arabia. From the Malta Independent Daily, with thanks to Twostellas:
This week The Hague tribunal will hold another high-profile trial – that of Naser Oric, the former commander of Bosnian Muslim forces in Srebrenica.The presiding judge is Carmel Agius together with two newly sworn-in ad litem judges from Demark and Germany.
Oric was in charge of the enclave’s armed forces until the town fell to the Serbs in 1995 and some 7,000 of its male inhabitants were killed, in the largest massacre on European soil since the end of the second world war.
Although the trial, due to start on 6 October, will focus on the events that took place several years before the 1995 massacre, its horrors are bound to resurface in The Hague tribunal’s courtrooms.
Oric, 37, is accused of crimes against Bosnian Serbs that he and the forces he commanded allegedly committed in the months between the outbreak of hostilities in Bosnia in the spring of 1992 and the designation of Srebrenica as a UN safe area in 1993.
The prosecutors allege that between June 1992 and March 1993 the troops under Oric’s command destroyed at least 50 Serbian hamlets and villages in the wider Srebrenica area, expelled thousands of their inhabitants and plundered their property – notably livestock and food supplies.
They are hoping to prove that Oric personally planned and participated in at least some of those attacks.
About time besides.
Hollywood and the mainstream networks have long goen on and potrayed the sebs as the bad guys. Not that they were completely good wither. but the moslem side in the Balkan has gotten away with an unfairly favorable image. Their terrorism, brutality, murders, church-burnings, gun-running and drug-smuggling ops (in kosovo, esp) have been conveniently overlooked by the media coz it doesn;t quite fit big media's 'worlview'.

We routinely complain about the misinformation for the purpose of misleading the Arab world and spinning a particular agenda that comes out of Al-Jazeera. The American mainstream media is just as guilty and manipulative as Al-Jazeera.
If, instead of mere reporting of events, without any serious attempt to understand those events, the world's press had tried to fathom what the words and deeds of Izetbegovic would have meant to the non-Muslims, above all to the Serbs in the area, there might have been a glimmr of sympathy. For the history of that area was the history of suppression of the Serbs, by the Ottomans, a history punctuated by massacres, the devshirme (the forced levy, or perhaps better enlevement, of Christian children for the armies of the Padishah), destruction of Orthodox churches, and other measures to force the dhimmis to recognize, every day in every way, that they were -- dhimmis.
Izetbegovic's remarks on the need to re-impose the Sharia, to bring back Islam with its full venom, is what sent shivers down all Serbian spines. That Germany, the Germany of Operation Kozara, and Jasenovac, and Kurt Waldheim in his "Intelligence Unit," should have been so quick to recognize Slovenia and Croatia, and helped therefore to destroy the very idea of Yugoslavia, did not help Serbian matters -- for the two histories, the more recent one of German massacrs, adn the far older, longer one of oppression and massacre by the Ottoman Turks, were enough to terrify Serbs into supporting certain leaders whom, had they not been so terrified, they would never have followed.
In all of Europe, a few French journalists, and the Austrian writer Peter Handke, tried to explain Serbian fears, Serbian history. In the United States, no one made the slightest effort. Milosevic = Serbs, Milosevic = bad, Serbs - Bad. And Izetbegovic? Well, when he died, the plummy-voiced Paddy Ashdown (now some grand panjandrum in the Balkans) delivered himself of some solemn words of regret on the passing of the great man (the Great Man was a monster); not a hint of what Izetbegovic was all about.
In Bosnia and Kosovo, hundreds of millions of dollars from the Saudis, and Arab fighters, have now been around -- as they will go wherever Jihad-duty calls -- for the last 15 years.
A few months ago, Albanians destroyed a few hundred Orthodox churches in Kosovo. Nothing happened at the UN. Here and there, a cluck-cluck of disapproval. And nothing will happen. And if Turkey is, insanely, allowed into the EU? What will the Balkans be like then, if not a place to settle, or still worse, a transit-point for Muslims, by no means all of them citizens of Turkey (who will distinguish a Turkish Kurd from an Iraqi Kurd, or an Iranian Kurd? Who in Western Europe will really be able to distinguish an Arab "immigrant" slipping in from a Turk, entitled to free movement within the EU? Chaos, anyone?).
While all the land in the world belongs to Allah, so that eventually the entire dar al-Harb must "revert" to dar al-Islam, there is a special interest, obviously, in lands that were once ruled by Muslims. Not only Israel, but Spain (Al-Andaluz), and the entire Balkans, Bulgaria, Rumania -- all the former Ottoman lands, and the entire Caucasus in its pre-General Ermolov form, and Kashmir (and the rest of formerly Muslim-ruled India) have a high priority.
Hugh, very true. I should have added that the American media was, and continues to be ignorant of history and could not put the events in their proper context. I now wonder about all that read in the media as being written by ignorant and biased journalists.

Did I just read some jihadist braggadocio? Here at Jihad Watch yet? Must have been mistaken, these blusterers would never exchange a gun for a keyboard, would they?
A while ago, I watched a short clip of a jihadist in Iraq with an RPG aiming it towards U.S. Marines. A split-second later, he was down flat on his face, not moving.
As for picking up a gun, right now I'm watching a football game, can't be bothered with trying to find a jihadist to pop.
The jihadists would NEVER exchange their guns for keyboards, because deep down, even THEY know their ideas are totally bankrupt.They see the proof of that every single day as they look around them at the civilized world.

Before I find something else more INTERESTING to do than trembling at the thought of a jihadist with a gun coming after me, I have some further thoughts:
Here's another rhetorical question: Could it be that would-be-jihadists searching the internet for jihadist websites, come across Jihad Watch in their quest?
Perhaps they think that we are nothing but a bunch of spectators sitting around WATCHING the jihad. We are watching all right, but FOR jihadist activity, whether on the internet, in mosques, in our neighborhoods, around installations that they might target, at colleges and universities, restaurants, wherever they are--on our turf.
How do we recognize them? Call it ideological profiling. I won't give any more away than that, so they can wonder.
We have departments, agencies, bureaus that deal with malefactors.
If faced with personal attacks, however, I for one can do more than throw a keyboard at a perpetrator. And I am not unique in that respect. We do what has to be done.
