A startling revelation from the Times Online, with thanks to Lester:
THE Territorial Army has been infiltrated by Al-Qaeda suspects, giving the Islamic terrorist group potential access to military bases, explosives and fuel dumps.Five Al-Qaeda suspects are believed to have trained as part-time soldiers with the TA. At least one is now in custody.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed that other terror suspects have attempted to join the TA, but says they were rejected after undergoing security checks. The connection with Britain’s Al-Qaeda network was uncovered in a series of wide-ranging investigations by MI5 and Scotland Yard’s Special Branch.
It is believed the terrorist suspects may have been taking advantage of military training as well as gaining access to bases and weapons.
Patrick Mercer, the Tory homeland security spokesman and a former army officer, said Al-Qaeda terrorists could use TA passes to penetrate security at key MoD establishments such as the permanent joint headquarters at Northwood in Greater London.
“This could have very serious security implications. Clearly in the war against terror you need to know who your friends are. The last thing we want is the enemy masquerading as our own people,” Mercer said.
The TA has about 41,000 members and comprises a substantial portion of the 102,000-strong British Army and has 329 centres throughout the country.
The answer is simple - NO MUSLIMS ALLOWED IN OUR ARMED FORCES ! We wouldn't have allowed Nazis to join up in 1939
and islam is a greater threat than the Nazis.
Any muslim in the armed forces could end up joining Al-Queda, if they start to become fundamentalist about their religion.
The allegiance of Muslims is to the Umma, not to any other group or power. The goal is to further the influence of Islam. Bringing Muslims into the Western military is to give our enemies the training and means that they will later use to destroy us. For some reasons few in the West understand this!
Its the same old story.
The real story is how come we have not learned any thing.
Their are occupations in the Armed forces that are very sensitive. For instance computer operators will have access to a wealth of data on troop movements, deployments, and facilities.
Then there is the very serious business of allowing 'compromised from birth' individuals to drive fuel tankers. The mind boggles.
>The answer is simple - NO MUSLIMS ALLOWED IN
>OUR ARMED FORCES ! We wouldn't have allowed
>Nazis to join up in 1939 and islam is a
>greater threat than the Nazis.
Of course it really isn't simple at all by virtue of the fact that Islam is a religion rather than a political party.
The reason of course, is because religion is "untouchable" in so many people’s minds. Pretty much all you have to do is cloak yourself in mumbo-jumbo, write a book, and declare yourself in direct contact with the creator of the universe. Gather some “true-believers” around you and then you will pretty much get free reign to lie, murder, steal, and otherwise exploit your fellow human beings to your hearts desire, up to a point. I wonder what that “point” will be with Islam.
It is a tragedy that although the only paradise we have any evidence of is the one we live in now, the only hell we can be sure about is the one we make for ourselves here, yet so much needless suffering and pain is created by people trying to get to someplace else whose existence is speculative. (I hear the armies of the faithful crying out “The existence of my god’s heaven isn’t speculative!” already)
The sacred cow strolls down the streets of the starving, shitting on the children, and we just smile and wave. Just another day in paradise I reckon, better not complain.
f.g.
God I hope that a islamist doesn't get a generalship in the British army. The Romans tried letting barbarians into the army...and the barbarian generals took over. I don't think the Roman senate knew what hit them.
Early in 2000 I was passing the Territorial Army base in White City, West London, when I noticed a muslim woman (light-skinned North African wearing black robes and headscarf) apparently keeping a close watch on the base through the unguarded main gate. I almost called the police, but decided I was letting my imagination run wild.
About a month later a 14 year-old Army Cadet was blinded and had his hand blown off when he picked up a booby-trapped flashlight left at the same spot I saw this woman lurking.
Police and press blamed this attack to the so-called 'Real IRA' who were certainly active in the area. I don't know if anyone was ever prosecuted for the flashlight incident, but several Real IRA members were jailed for a car bomb explosion outside the BBC's nearby White City HQ in 2001.
Ever since I've wondered if that woman had anything to do with the flashlight bomb, or whether it was just coincidence. Could she have been carrying out a recce for the IRA? Was this a collaboration between the Real IRA and Islamists, or even Libyan Intelligence? (Libya was making threats against the UK at that time, and is known to have given financial support and shiploads of weapons and explosives to the Provisional IRA.)
The 'Real' IRA was feuding with other, more powerful IRA groups like the Provos, and was desperately in need of friends, so might well have linked up with the Libyans or even an Al Queda affiliate. Irish terrorists are also known to have trained alongside jihadis in camps in the Lebanon (and probably Afghanistan.)
This was pre-9/11 so there was almost no credibility given at that time to threats against the UK from islamists.
Would General Abizaid be withdrawn from service? I do not know if he is a muslim, but he does speak arabic and knows the culture. A great asset for sure. I hope it would not have to be a case by case test.
The truth of the matter is that Islam does not recognize Patriotism. They only thing that matters is the "brotherhood" that Islamics have as a world community. Having muslims in our armed forced, hell in out western countries, is a open invitation to a hostile takeover. I cant remember the Muslim in the US army that grenaded his own, but I remember him saying that he was a Muslim first and foremost, then an american. I think that says it all.
OH God!!! Are nthe BBC running the British army now as well ( actually thinking about it they can't be or this article would be titled "UK: Army Infiltrated by a Fictional Group Concocted by the US Governement"
(idiots)
The reason of course, is because religion is "untouchable" in so many people’s minds.

Unless of course??
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3760680.stm
The diary of the dark days a Jewish teenager spent in a Nazi detention camp awaiting deportation has come to light in the Netherlands.
Helga Deen, 18, wrote the diary during the three months she spent in the camp in 1943 so her Dutch boyfriend could understand what she was experiencing.
The diary records the desperation of life in the camp and horror at watching children being sent to the death camps.
War archivists have described it as a rare and extraordinary find.
The diary echoes those of Anne Frank, who spent years in hiding from the Nazis in German-occupied Amsterdam before her family was betrayed.
Helga Deen's diary was donated to the Tilburg Regional Archive by the family of her boyfriend, Kees van den Berg, after his recent death.
Chilling and mundane
"Maybe this diary will be a disappointment to you because it doesn't contain facts," Helga wrote in the diary to Kees.
"But maybe you'll be glad that you find me in it: conflict, doubt, desperation, shyness, emptiness."
Helga's writing spans the chilling and mundane aspects of life in Vught camp. She talks of delousing, the camp's kale soup, and of children being put on transport to the concentration camps.
"We are homeless, countryless and have to adjust ourselves to that way of life. What we have seen in these last months is indescribable, and for someone who hasn't been there, unimaginable," she wrote.
Helga hoped hard work might save her from deportation. But, in early July 1943, she was told her family would be on the next train.
"Packing, and this morning a child dying which upset me completely," she wrote.
"Another transport and this time we will be on it."
It was her last entry. Helga and her family were deported to Sobibor concentration camp in German-occupied Poland, where they are recorded as having died on 16 July 1943. About six million Jews are thought to have died in the Holocaust.
How the diary reached Kees is unknown, but his son told a local newspaper he kept it "like a religious relic", together with a lock of hair, until his death.
"I couldn't believe what I saw," said Tilburg archivist Gerrit Kobes. He described the diary, which also includes sketches of the camp, as unique.
Other war archivists agree the discovery is exceptional.

Duelfer: 'A lot of material left Iraq and went to Syria'
Special to World Tribune.com
GEOSTRATEGY-DIRECT.COM
Monday, October 18, 2004
Charles Duelfer told the Senate Armed Services Committee earlier this month he could not rule out Saddam's transfer of Iraqi missiles and weapons of mass destruction to Syria.
Duelfer, an adviser to the CIA, said at the Oct. 6 hearing that a large amount of material had been transferred by Iraq to Syria before the March 2003 war.
"A lot of materials left Iraq and went to Syria," Duelfer said. "There was certainly a lot of traffic across the border points. We've got a lot of data to support that, including people discussing it. But whether in fact in any of these trucks there was WMD-related materials, I cannot say."
The Iraq Survey Group, headed by Duelfer, said Russia, Syria, Jordan and other arms suppliers were paid from Iraqi oil revenues.
A CIA report, authored by the Iraq Survey Group, identified Russia and Syria atop a list of 12 arms suppliers to Iraq until the U.S.-led war against Baghdad started in March 2003.
The report listed Russia and Syria above North Korea — regarded as the leading missile proliferator to the Middle East — as leading suppliers to Baghdad.
Jordan was the third largest supplier of weapons to Iraq.
After Jordan came Belarus, China, India, North Korea, South Korea, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Ukraine, France, Romania and Turkey. The report said these countries were involved in both "weapons of mass destruction and arms-related procurement."
The report said Saddam diverted money from the UN oil-for-food program to pay for both conventional and nonconventional weapons and components.
The report said state-owned companies in Russia and Syria defied UN sanctions and supplied weapons and platforms to Baghdad. The report said Syria also served as the leading route for illegal arms supplies from Europe and other countries.
Several of Iraq's neighbors were said to have joined in the secret military effort to aid Baghdad. The report — based on interviews with senior Iraqi officials and 40 million pages of documents and classified intelligence — cited Jordan and Turkey as leading suppliers to the Saddam regime.

The West is a sick, suicidal society infected with self defeating political correctness. We are yellow bellied cowards unable to defend ourselves against an enemy OPENLY COMMITTED to our destruction. The people making decisions that will protect us or defeat us are unwilling to take the heat.
Until someone of high authority is willing to take off the rose colored glasses and accept as truth what the Quran says about Muslims 'forbidden to fight each other' we are going to see more of this perfidy.

Followed by an article about a Jewish girl who was in a concentration camp.
I assume that the inference there is that religion is untouchable in people’s minds except where the Jewish religion is concerned. I’ll leave the whole “is it (was it) a Jewish Race or a Jewish Religion issue” to someone else. No doubt whatever I say will be wrong. Suffice it to say there is no Islamic Race but there is an Islamic Religion whose adherents are not (by educated people at least) recognized as a separate race.
Needless to say the eradication of a people is called Genocide and is pretty much frowned on by the civilized world. Similarly criticism of a major world religion, its followers, and its founders is frowned upon and seen as unfair, uncivilized and ignorant by a large number of people in the world, let alone any talk of eradication of said religion. Any persecution of Islam (such as keeping Muslims from armed service) will be dubbed “religious persecution” and the holocaust will no doubt be brought up as a “similar” example damning any efforts to restrict Islamic infiltration. Loose, loose, loose. We all loose this one.

That is happening right now so I guess we’ll just continue to do what we’re doing. We’ll walk around and slap ourselves on the back and say “The War On Terror” is going as planned! We’re going to have democratic elections and an independent Iraq in January! We’re keeping the beheadings out this country, isn’t that the important thing?! Or whatever other bullshit we want to placate ourselves with while Rome burns.
The best answer it would seem to me, would be to insist on Islamic reform in a global forum. Outlaw the teaching of Jihad. Go after the schools and teachers teaching this crap and shut them all down. Now, don’t ask me how in the hell you would do all that because once you start telling people a religion is toxic to mankind they either want to immediately convert you to their belief system or they look at you like you were a cancerous tumor.

F.G.:
Judaism is definitely not a race.
We range in ethnicity from fair-skinned blue-eyed Ashkenazim from Eastern Europe to black-skinned Falashas from Ethiopia, and the Sephardic and Yemenite Jews of North Africa/Asia Minor in between -- and even the Han Chinese descendants of Persian Jews who relocated to Kaiphong in Marco Polo's time, totally assimilated with the local population over the centuries through intermarriage, yet so proud of their Jewish roots that they are trying to revive religious customs now that things are a little bit freer in China than they were in Maoist times.
That said, given so many of us are proudly Jewish, but non-observant/secular, I'd have to say Judaism is more than a religion too.
Sorry everyone, I know this is OT, but the subject is about to come off at Dhimmni Watch and I wanted everyone to see this and mark the site.

Religious conservatives are anxious to expand the power of religious organizations in the United States, even if that means turning basic principles of religious freedom and liberty on its head. Question of Fatwa
What is the Islamic ruling on attacking American military bases in the Arab and Muslim countries in spite of the opposition of the ruling regimes of those countries? Are those who die while attacking the American military bases martyrs?

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Dear questioner, thanks very much for sending this question and we earnestly implore Allah to guide us to the best.
Before answering your question, we want to highlight the following main points:
1-The presence of many American troops in the region is something that is categorically rejected by the people, who consider the American presence as an aggression against the land and its people.
2-The main aim behind the American aggression is to take hold of the nation’s resources, especially the oil.
3-It is obligatory upon the Arab countries to defend themselves against American imperialism.
4- If there was an acceptable cause to seek help from the American forces in the past, now this cause vanishes and hence their presence is no more than an invasion that must be faced tooth and nail.
5-Any Muslim killed while resisting aggression will be in the highest degree of martyrdom.
6-The attacks against the occupying forces should be directed against the aggressive soldiers. Tourists, workers, ambassadors and the like are not the target, and hence it is not allowed to attack them as they have the pledge of security.
First: The Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Sheikh Muhammad Sayed Tantawi told Ar-ra’ Al`am Newspaper based in Kuwait on Sunday 29 September 2002 the following:
"It is obligatory upon Muslims to support the Iraqi people against any aggression, as facing the aggression against any Muslim country is a religious obligation and a Jihad at the same time. It is not permissible to help those aggressive troops in their schemes and actions.
I am totally against any actions that are capable of causing any harm to the Iraqi people, who are part and parcel of the Arab and Muslim Ummah. I earnestly implore Allah to help the Iraqi people and to grant them victory over their enemies.
We are totally in support of the Iraqi people, and we are against any aggression launched against Iraq. We totally reject injustice, aggression against any Arab or Muslim country."
Second: Dr. Ibrahim Zayd Al-Kilani, former Jordanian minister of Al-Awqaf (Public Endowments), states:
"It is well known that when the enemy invades the land of Islam, Jihad become fard `ayn (an individual duty). Referring to this, Allah Almighty says: “And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out …” (Al-Baqarah: 191)
In addition, Allah Almighty commands us to breach the conditions of the peaceful treaties signed with non-Muslims when we fear that they will breach them from their side. Referring to this, Allah Almighty says, “Lo! The worst of beasts in Allah's sight are the ungrateful who will not believe. Those of them with whom thou madest a treaty, and, then at every opportunity they break their treaty, and they keep not duty (to Allah). If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember. And if thou fearest treachery from any folk, then throw back to them (their treaty) fairly. Lo! Allah loveth not the treacherous.” (Al-Anfal: 55-58)
Thus, attacking American soldiers who came to launch war against Muslims is an obligation and Jihad, as they are true invaders.
Hence, killing any transgressing American soldier is an obligation and a kind of Jihad since those occupying troops came to invade Muslim lands."
Third: The prominent Iraqi religious scholar based in the city of An-Najaf Al-Ashraf, Sheikh `Ali Husayn As-Sistiyani, adds:
"Supporting the enemy of Muslims with any form of support is one of the major sins that entails humiliation in this world and severe punishment in the Hereafter. All Muslims should know that if, Allah forbid, the enemies’ aims in Iraq are achieved, they will lead to a total disaster that will endanger the entire Muslim world.
In this critical stage that Muslims are passing through, Muslims have to unify their stance and try their best to defend their Iraqi brothers and sisters against the greedy enemies and their plots and schemes."
Fourth: Dr Yunus Al-Astal, Assistant Professor of Islamic Shari`ah in Palestine, states:
"Those who launch fierce fighting against the American existence in the Gulf are the best fighters in these days. They are the ones who are truly sticking to the teachings of Islam, and their martyrdom is classed in the highest degree of martyrdom, as they combat the current criminal and aggressive war on the Muslim world."
Fifth: Dr. Ahmad Ar-Raysuni, Professor of Shari`ah in Morocco, adds:
"The American presence in the Gulf region is considered an illegitimate presence, as it is not acceptable from the Shari`ah point of view and because the masses of the Arab region categorically reject such presence.
If the pretext of the American presence was to liberate Kuwait and protect the Kuwaiti regime against an Iraqi invasion, then such pretext is no longer in effect.
Great numbers of American and British soldiers invaded the Gulf region to launch attacks against Iraq, occupy its lands, violate its sanctity, and swallow up its wealth.
Thus, the aim of the aggressive American-led war on Iraq is crystal clear. Based on the above, I conclude that resisting such American invasion is a legitimate act, and the one who is killed while facing such invasion is a martyr.
Having stated the above, I add that combating such invasion will not lead to chaos or sedition, as the real sedition is to turn one’s back to the American and British invasion, succumb to their demands, and to show total silence to what they are committing.
For sure, fighting the aggressive troops should not lead to clash among Muslims whether such clash is among Islamic groups themselves or among Islamic groups and the ruling regimes. Real combat and fighting should be directed against the invaders."
Sixth: Sheikh Faysal Mawlawi, Deputy Chairman of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, states:
"In the current crisis, our Ummah is facing a ferocious battle against the American aggression, and we need under these circumstances to unify efforts in fending off this aggression and invasion. What is important nowadays is to establish a historic reconciliation between the Muslim peoples and the ruling regimes, irrespective of all the justifications of clash with these regimes.
Although we clearly demand all Muslim rulers to refuse the existence of the foreign military bases on their lands and to take action to expel them as soon as possible as a commitment to the well known Shar`i ruling that prohibits the existence of foreign troops on our Arab and Muslim land, I do not encourage attacking these military bases if these attacks will lead to the breakout of internal struggle between the rulers and their peoples because this struggle may serve the interests of the aggressive and invading troops more than the existence of their military bases on our Arab and Muslim lands.
But if attacking these bases will not lead to internal strife, then the basic Islamic ruling is that they are aggressive troops and launching Jihad against them is fard `ayn (an individual obligation) upon every Muslim who is able to do so. It is worth stressing that in individual obligation, a Muslim does not need to seek the permission of the imam or the Muslim ruler."
Seventh: Dr. `Arafat Al-Minyawi, Professor of Islamic Shari`ah in Palestine, adds:
"Before clarifying the Islamic ruling concerning the presence of American troops in the Gulf region, let us ask ourselves the following question: why did those troops come to such countries? The answer is that those troops came to usurp the legal rights of the peoples of those countries and to swallow their properties, one country after the other. That is why they are considered aggressors. Allah Almighty ordered us to protect our property and honor, as well as our Ummah in general. Referring to this, Allah Almighty says, “…And one who attacketh you, attack him like manner as he attacked you….” (Al-Baqarah: 149)
Hence, it is obligatory upon every Muslim to halt their attempts to launch war against Muslims, as they primarily came to launch their aggressive war.
Having clarified the above, I add that if those people came to the Gulf countries as guests, tourists or ambassadors (i.e. they did not come to launch war), then it is not permissible to attack them or launch war against them.
Actually, the presence of the American troops in the Gulf is not for peaceful aims, but rather to launch the war. Those troops care for nothing but their interests, and those who fight them are MARTYRS who die in Allah’s Cause. Referring to this, Allah Almighty says: “Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs. They shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.” (At-Tawbah: 111)"
Eighth: Dr. Salim Salamah Professor of Shari`ah in Palestine, adds:
"I cannot hesitate to say that the Jihad against the aggressive American troops is fard `ayn (an individual duty). Those troops with all their war planes, tanks and rockets are no more than imperiaist troops whose aim is to occupy our lands, and hence Jihad against them is an individual duty.
It is categorically unacceptable from the Arab governments to bring their enemies to occupy their lands, enslave their peoples, liquidate their resources. No doubt that the oil of the Gulf region is the main aim of those troops.
Having said this, I conclude that those who launch attacks against such troops and die as a result are martyrs. Not only that, but the one who dies in this case will receive a double reward of a martyr. It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told the woman whose son was killed in Allah’s Cause saying: “Your son will have a double reward of a martyr.” The woman said, “Why?” The Prophet replied, “Because your son was killed by the People of the Book.” (Reported by Abu Dawud)"
Finally, the prominent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, concludes:
"The American presence in the region is not at all accepted from all the Arab peoples, and for sure clashes will occur, and the one who dies while attacking the American bases is a true martyr if he dies while having the intention to do that for Allah’s Cause, as actions are judged by the intentions behind them.
The American aggression on the whole region wants to impose the total American hegemony on us, and such a procedure cannot be accepted at all. The one who launches attacks against the American presence is really carrying the spirit of true defenders. When one dies while carrying out such attacks, then he is a martyr, in sha’ Allah if his intention was to do the act for Allah’s Cause, even though some people consider him committing a wrong."

Son of Albion, damn right mate...howcome the intelligence services run year long checks before accepting applicants, but the army lets anyone in..then gives them weaponry training? The army seems so scared of alienating ethnic minorities that they'll let ANYONE join up..there doesnt seem to be much screening going on..
Jews are not a race, but a 'people.'
And just what does one think is happening, for example, with the French army? Or the German army? Is it not clear that Muslims, especially indigenous "reverts" to Islam, are a ermanent security threat to Infidel military and security services?
Will NATO hold secret meetings -- if not open ones -- to discuss the problem of security within their own services, for lapses in one NATO member's vigilance can be disastrous for another. If the French, for example, are lax in keeping Muslims out of their own armed forces, and particularly well away from war plans, the nuclear Force de Frappe, and so on, this could end any conceivable usefulness of France to NATO or to the United States, and France would, in any drawing up of war plans, have to be regarded as a potential enemy. It ot unthinkable that, in ten or twenty years, the only way to deal with the internal Muslim threat to France will be a military coup, a coup that many civilians who at present would be horrified at the mere thought of such a coup, will by then eagerly support. In order to avoid much greater bloodshed later, sensible measures taken now, based on a clear understanding of what Islam is all about, and how its adherents, or many of them, view the universe, could do much to limit the scope of future conflict. Why is there such fear of sensibly studying what makes Muslims tick -- that is, what the actual texts of Qur'an and hadith and sira tell them to think, and a great many do as they are told. Is it too much for the leaders of the Western world to simply do the obvious? Are they so convinced that whistling-in-the-dark is the best way to handle the threat to the survival of Western civilization?
When Bassam Tibi, a Muslim scholar who has lived for several decades in Germany, seconds Bernard Lewis' prediction that well before the end of the century Europe will be part of the Maghreb --i.e. a part of the Muslim Arab domain -- and further adds that either Europe will be islamized, or Islam will be Europeanized, is it not proper for people to scream that the latter is impossible, and the former is not inevitable, that one can do things -- things which now are not sufficiently discussed -- out of a spirit of sensible self-preservation, and out of a residual gratitude to all those who created the West and would not have been allowed to exist for one minute under Islam.
The mass deportation of Muslim non-citizens, efforts at mass conversion, denial of welfare state benefits to Muslim families, insistence on loyalty oaths to the Infidel nation-state and deporting of all those whom, it can reasonably be shown, must have been perjuring themselves when swearing such allegiance, and finally, expulsion of all those believed to support the world-wide Jihad, or any of its instruments -- are all measures to be discussed and undertaken.
And, of course, the Infidel world should make itself not as welcoming and accomodating to Muslims as possible, but as hostile and forbidding as it can possibly make itself -- and even if it does its damnednest, it will never approach the ferocity of the mildest Muslim state in its hostility to Infidels.
Do you remember those faked pictures of British soldiers abusing Iraqis? Well, one of the clues as to their falseness was the fact that the soldiers were wearing Territorial Army uniforms not the ones in Iraq. It makes more sense now.
Also when I was 16 I was thinking about joining the Army and had a preliminary interview when I was asked questions such as were any of my parents or grandparents Irish. Wouldn't it be appropriate therefore to ask today if someones' parents were Islamic?
"The Brits should have spoken to Lott on their gun Problem!!"
Catherine,
The current UK gun laws were implemented after the Dunblane massacre in '96 (in which a nutcase entered a school in Dunblane,Scotland and blasted a class full of kids to death, and the teachers, before pulling the trigger on himself). It was made illegal to carry , or sell/purchase guns of any kind.
This stupid law may have meant well, but all it has succeeded in acheiving is ensuring that only outlaws/criminals/dealers/gangsters carry guns, whereas law-abiding citizens are unarmed (unable to protect themselves).
After school-girl Danielle Beccan was shot-dead in front of her friends, on the way back from Goose Fair, Nottingham, after midnight on October 10th 2004, UK gun-crime has been bought once again into the public eye in it's out of control status (it's being happening for years in the big bad cities, but because the vast majority of it is black-on-black...in other words jamaican yardie gangsters/drug dealers killing each other.... it has been relatively ignored). When innocent kids start getting shot in the street, it's time to start looking seriously at the gun-laws, and I'm sure a large change is about to take place.
Bare in mind though Catherine, that many people are asking for even tougher gun-laws rather than relaxing them so that law-abiding citizens can by them to protect their homes.
Either way, I make damn sure I've got protection.
This segment is a bit bulky already and probably doesn't need a lot more comment to get the day's views accross, but I would like to come back to this somewhat later in the day to ask for some in-put from catherine, susan_b, and hugh, among others, regarding a one-page thematic hand-out on Islam. I'm a terrible typist, and my computer access is limited, so if i don't appear to be addressing you directly, i.e. if I don't come back the same day, I do drop in at least to read your comments. If I post a note today and don't return to it, I will certainly at least read what you write.
sonofwalker --
Congratulations on your great motivating posts!
Robert Spencer asked we should 'post strategically' and you are doing just that. Great stuff.
A 'one-page thematic handout on Islam' is a challenge considering all the things that need to be exposed! At the same time I agree with you that one page is the ideal length if you want people to actually read the thing.
I was thinking of something with a headline such as 'WHAT MUSLIMS DON'T WANT YOU TO READ' or 'WHAT MUSLIMS DON'T WANT YOU TO FIND OUT'.
It's important that the contents don't get anyone busted for 'race hate' or anything like that, so I suggest the contents would consist only of quotes from the Koran or hadith with the source accurately notated. How can you be accused of incitement when all you're doing is quoting from the pages of their sacred book, right ?
As for the actual content, that could be tailored to the area where where the handouts are going to be given out. If in a predominantly Christian area, the handout would have some quotes on treatment of Christians...if a Jewish area, ditto on treatment of Jews...if a Black area, ditto on Blacks.
A handout on the treatment of women and young girls would be very effective, I think, because I suspect women are more likely to hang on to the flyer and show it to girlfriends and discuss the contents among themselves. They might even follow it up.
It's probably not a good idea to include an address or phone number unless you live in a heavily armed fortress, but there could be a group name such as 'Citizens for Freedom of Knowledge' or 'Citizens for Unveiling the Truth about Islam'.
If anyone thinks it would be 'unsafe' to hand these things out in the street, copies could be left in libraries, church halls, malls, on buses and trains etc
Sonofwalker, if you (or anyone else!) think these
suggestions are worth taking further, just let me know.
The important thing is to 1)get the facts out to people 2)get them thinking and talking about what they've read and 3)get them to follow up by spreading the word and maybe contacting politicians, mayors, legislators, teachers and others who have influence.
Let's roll!
It is an excellent idea to produce such a brief guide: Islam: What Non-Muslims Need to Know. It might begin with the explanation that Islam is not only, nor even mainly, a religion as that is commmonly understood. The Five Pillars of worship that are given so much attention are only a small part of Islam. It is a complete and totalitarian ideology, that offers the mentally confused and weak-minded the crutch of a Total Explanation of the Universe. It is based entirely on a strict division between Believer and Infidel, between the Lands of the Believers (the dar al-Islam) and the Lands of the Infidels (the dar al-harb), and requires the former to expand until it swallows up the latter. It forbids most music. It forbids painting that include human figures. It forbids sculpture. It is inimical to free and skeptical inquiry. It is not receptive to humor -- see the Ayatollah Khomeini. It offers the role model of Muhammad, whose actions as a military conqueror offer quite a contrast to, for example, the Buddha or Christ or Moses.
One might select the most revealing quotations from the Qur'an about the Jihad and the proper attitude to be adopted toward Infidels. A short explanation of the hadith could be followed with 20-30 odd quotes from them. Finally, a few piquant details from the life of Muhammad, listing his Jihad-wars, and his assassination of political enemies, his execution of the prisoners taken from the Bani QUrayza, his attack on innocent farmers at Khaybar in order to acquire booty for his followers, his "marriage" and then consummation of that marriage with Aisha (when she was 9 years old) -- all of this needs to be set down, with the further explanation that Muhammad remains, for all time, and all places, the model of the supreme human being. And every single thing Muhammad ever did, because he did it, remains as valid, and good, and true, for Muslims, as it was in 620 or 630 A.D.
The suggestion of varying the material to meet the needs of different audiences makes sense. Ministers of black churches may regard the Islam as a threat, and so it is. If they might be provided with a full list, for example, of the statements in the Qur'an endorsing and regulating slavery, if current imams' endorsement of slavery can be quoted appositely, if the long history of the Arab slave trade can be sketched, and then the continuing enslavement of black Africans by Arab Muslims today (recalling that the Arab slave trade was stamped out, for a while, by the British -- there is no Arab Wilberforce), in the Sudan, Mali, Mauritania, if the Arab murders of black Africans in Darfur can be given their due, and potential readers reminded of the role of Egyptian pilots in murdering tens of thousands of Christian Ibos during the Biafran War (a war that Col. Ojukwu said was in response to the "jihad" being conducted against black Christians in Nigeria), that would all be worth doing.
Islam is and will remain the vehicle of choice for expressions of hatred toward "the System," "Amerika," "the West," etc. now that Communism has self-destructed), and therefore there are sensible reasons for making clear to potential "reverts" that in Islam the ruler must be obeyed, that the despotism so widespread in the Muslim countries is no accident, and that the claims of "social justice" are nonsense -- just look at the rich of Saudi Arabia, and the poor workers whom they exploit as wage-slaves, or slaves of the old-fashioned variety.
For observant Christians and Jews, one could simply list passages from Qur'an and hadith, and in addition, offer a complete list of ALL the disabilities imposed on the supposedly favored "People of the Book." This would include not just the jizya or the kharaj, but a long list that deserves to be widely known: the inability of non-Muslims to sue Muslims in court the identifying marks on clothes and houses, the inabliity to build or repair non-Muslim houses of worship, the prohibition on marriage between a non-Muslim man and a Muslim woman (unless of course the former "reverted"), the requirement that non-Muslims ride only donkeys sidesaddle and dismount whenever they crossed paths with a Muslim, and on and on.
An information sheet, which could also be used for newspaper ads, devoted to the topic "What is a Dhimmi?" "A Dhimmi is -- a Dhimmi is anyone who is not a Muslim, under Muslim rule, anywhere in the world" and then continue with a list of every single disability, economic, political, social, to which dhimmis were subjected -- together with modern examples of how, for example, Hindus are treated in Bangladesh and Pakistan, or Christians in Indonesia or Egypt or Iran.
One other idea: a card suitable for distribution to others, that could be carried in one's wallet, or in one's car. Such a card would list places to find out the truth about Islam. Many people are uneasy about Islam. Many sense that there is something about it that causes Muslims to behave in the violent manner that so many seem to be doing, and saying the violent things that so many seem to be saying. Yet we are told by so many of our leaders not to pay attention; religious leaders who engage in those preposterous and useless "interfaith dialoguyes" do not help matters, but only help to confuse. The automatic respect that the word "religion" so oftne commands does not help either -- yet another good reason NEVER to call Islam a religion but always a belief-system. But few have learned enough to be able to defend, even to themselves, their suspicions and their growing hostility to Islam. The more they learn, the greater that suspicion, that hostility, will be -- and the greater the likelihood that intelligent measures of self-preservation will be undertaken by the non-Muslims of this world, whether in America or Europe or elsewhere.
The soldiers returning from Iraq have learned something about the Iraqis, about their mendacity, their viciousness, their base ingratitude (this is based on time recently spent with returning soldiers at and near Fort Bragg). But even they need to learn more about the specific tenets of Islam that explain the murderous hostility directed at Infidels who not only removed a wicked regime, but now want only to rebuild the country. Naturally those who are murdered when all they intend to do is rebuild schools and hospitals have managed to bethink themselves: what is this Islam, anyway? Well, the American military, thank god, has had a real dose of Islam, and even where the full belief-system of Islam cannot be articulated, there is an understanding that something is very dangerous about it. This lesson will not be forgotten, and may be the one of the most valuable parts of the experience in Iraq.
What about something like this:
As to whatthat card for distribution might look like, perhaps something like this:
ISLAM: A Short Guide for the Perplexed
I. Websites:
www.jihadwatch.org
www.secularislam.org
www.faithfreedom.org
www.dhimmitude.org
www.nojihad.org
II. Books:
Onward Muslim Soldiers (Robert Spencer)
Why I Am Not a Muslim; Leaving Islam (Ibn Warraq)
The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam; Islam and Dhimmitude (Bat Ye'or)
III. Articles:
On-line by Habib Malik, Ali Sina, Robert Spencer, Ibn Warraq, Bat Ye'or, Andrew Bostom, and others.
What is suggested above can be added to, but whatever is listed should be suitably compressed onto one card, of the kind that can be made up at Staples or Officemax, 500 or 1000 at a time. These can then be distributed, whenever the occasion arises, beginning with friends, colleagues, relatives, and extending to classmates, teachers, students, others one runs across.
The card should should appear, and be offered, only after a preliminary conversation that is carefully directed to the subject of Iraq, or Bin Laden, or the failure of both parties to begin to speak the truth about Islam, or about the demographic changes in Europe, or any other topic that is obviously linked to Islam.
Some will refuse the card. Some will take it, and never consult what is on it. But some will take the card, and look up a website or two, and begin to read, and realize that a whole world has been hidden from view, and then that person will read some more, and go to other websites, and perhaps look at the articles on-line, perhaps even buy one or more of the listed books. As one begins to sense that a terrible threat exists, and yet can at this point be dealt with if only enough people understand, one will need no further prompting to begin to consult, for example, the "archives" at Jihadwatch, and the world -- the world of the Jihad -- will begin to make sense, and the incoherence of the Tom Friedmans and other puffed-up and jejune pundits will become clear.
The ignorance, stupidity, dullness, and pusillanimity of many prominent politicians and journalists and others whose duty it is to instruct us, naturally shifts the burden of education onto the private citizen. Nor is he helped by universities, where so many departments of middle eastern affairs have been captured by the apologists for Islam -- both Muslim and non-Muslim -- and who because of tenure cannot be dislodged, only ignored or discredited.
One is forced to become a sudden scholar, to instruct oneself and then to instruct others. Not everyone realizes quite how dangerous the situation is: how many people do you know, for example, who have given any thought to the likelihood that Western Europe, through Da'wa and demography, can within two or three generations be thoroughly islamized? How many people have given any thought as to what an Islamic France, or an Islamic Italy, would mean for the artworks in the Louvre and the Uffizi, or for the very idea of the West, of Western civilization? Or to Western defenses, if Western weaponry and technology can be appropriated by Muslim populations? How many people even begin to comprehend what would be the fate of the Christian sites in the Holy Land were Israel to be successfully subjected to the salami-like cuts of the current clever Jihadists, and what Muslim control of that area would mean for the future of Christianity, even for the future of those who consider themselves "post-Christian" non-believers in the secularised Western world?
One needs to increase, dramatically and quickly, the number of people who understand that Islam is a belief-system, based on a Manichean division of the world between Believer and Infidel, that Islam's aims are without limit, and every Believer is to act as a missionary, and every new "revert" is regarded as a recruit to an army, the army of Islam (and as a recruit, that "revert" need not be told the full story of what Islam is all about -- he need only be "enlisted").
Even those Muslims who do not fully subscribe to all of this, are part of the problem and the threat. Their refusal to tell the truth about Islam (possibly out of embarrassment, or worry about the consequences, or filial piety), and their mere presence in the West, which helps to swell the numbers, and hence the perceived power, of Muslims (so that politicians will be even more afraid to speak out), makes them, objectively, promoters of the Jihad. They need not be regarded with indifference, but with the wariness and mistrust that they have, by their own refusal to tell the truth, earned from non-Muslims. Someone who makes Muslim subjugation or silencing of non-Muslims more likely must not be regarded as a harmless "moderate."
The Islamic texts can be found online (www.usc.edu). They can be read, and studied with notes. The history of Jihad-conquest can be found in the works of many scholars, and several books will soon be appearing containing relevant scholarship, including "The Myth of Islamic Tolerance" by Robert Spencer. The history of dhimmitude has been set out by Bat Ye'or in a series of works, and her "Eurabia" will soon appear. Many university faculties of Middle Eastern studies have been thoroughly penetrated, in some cases seized altogether, by that army of apologists, both Muslim and non-Muslim, who offer sanitized versions of the Qur'an, who omit or offer glancing attention, usually quite misleading, to the treatment of non-Muslims in the lands subjugated by Islam (it is the one Forbidden Topic), and seldom discuss the precise effects of passages in the Qur'an and hadith and in the biogrpahy of Muhammad obviously have had, over 1400 yers, and have now, and will have in the future, on hundreds of millions of Believers. Benda's "Betrayal of the Intellectuals" is no longer a figurative betrayal but a real treason, the kind that Rebecca West and the F.B.I. would recognize -- the Lord Haw-Haw and Tokyo Rose variety.
And the intended audience should not only be believing Christians, or Jews, or Hindus (who least need persuasion), but also those who are post-Christian inhabitants of the West, for whom the most dangerous aspect of Islam may be the way in which it so resembles fascism, with itstotalitarian regulation of every area of life, and the insistence that Islam is capable of explaining everything about the universe one needs to know. It is no accident that the Arab Muslim world has had translated, in the last 1400 years, fewer books into Arabic than are translated each year in Spain.
Fortunately, there are now many people born into Islam who recognize that something is terribly wrong with it, even if, unlike Ibn Warraq or Ali Sina, they do not become articulate ex-Muslims unafraid to analyze what is so harmful to Believers, and so dangerous for non-Believers, in the doctrines of Islam. Some born into Islam cling to the belief that "reform" is possible, though they never quite explain how this reform is to be achieved. They do not tell us, for example, exactly how certain hadith are to be thrown out, or ignored. They do not tell us if a similar procedure can be accomplished with the Qur'an, sometimes seeming to suggest -- in the manner of Mustafa Akyol -- that the Qur'an itself is without fault, and only the hadith pose a problem.
That even a handful of Muslims dare to recognize publicly that something needs to be done about Islam -- even if they then dishonestly continue to claim that the religion has been "hijacked" (God spare us this idiotic formulation being repeated by anyone)-- is welcome, though no one should let down his guard. Those who are not believers in any religion, like so many in Western Europe, need to be made to consider what further islamization would mean for the possiblity of science and of art, and for the freedoms that they now assume have been permanently achieved, but which directly contradict the Sharia.
A card -- not much bigger than a carte de visite -- listing such websites, and useful books, and articles retrievable on-line, is not suggested in lieu of a 1-2 page outline of Islam: What Non-Muslims Need to Know. But such a card -- and anyone can have 500 or a 1000 made up himself -- will aid others to educate themselves far more fully than a brief handout will permit.
