WASHINGTON -- More than 350 people who have committed crimes or are suspected of terrorist links have been arrested in a federal crackdown on foreigners with visa violations, part of a broader effort to prevent al-Qaida from disrupting U.S. elections.Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a Homeland Security Department component known as ICE, are matching identities of visa violators nationwide with names on secret government terrorism databases in hopes of finding al-Qaida operatives.
"We're intensifying it in the days leading up to the election," ICE spokesman Dean Boyd said Friday.
Some groups representing Muslims and Arab-Americans are concerned some people may be targeted because of their ethnicity or religious beliefs.
"If somebody breaks the law in terms of their immigration status, they should pay the price," said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "We can only hope they are not targeting people based on whether they are Muslim."
Yes, Ibrahim. Innocent people should not be targeted. But in view of the fact that Muhammad Atta and Co. were targeting people based on their being non-Muslim, and the realities of the jihad ideology that underlines global terrorism, it would be refreshing if you would bring your organization to be more helpful in efforts to identify terrorists within the Islamic community.
Special attention is being paid to the hunt for immigration violators because some hijackers involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks had violated terms of their visas.One was Hani Hanjour, who never showed up for English classes as required by his December 2000 visa. About nine months later, he piloted American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon.
In its final report, the Sept. 11 commission said the government could have "potentially excluded, removed or come into further contact with several hijackers" if a better immigration tracking system had then existed....
Specific examples given by ICE of recent arrests include:
-- A 32-year-old Jordanian, arrested after overstaying a visa, was living in an apartment in which agents found literature involving terrorist affiliations and Internet web sites. Deportation procedures are continuing.
-- A 27-year-old Azerbaijani, attending a Maryland college, was arrested and deported after making violent threats against fellow students.
-- A 22-year-old Pakistani who didn't maintain his status as a college student in Oklahoma was found to have a loaded firearm, which is a violation for an illegal alien. He was deported.
As a former consular officr, I applaud the enforcement of our immigration laws. It's about time someone did so.
WHY are not our immigration laws enforced?! I don't care who the US bans from entering our country, and as far as I'm concerned, ban everyone but native born citizens. My taxes are so high I can barely pay them to support illegal aliens' education, health care, low-cost housing, and on and on and on! Why? So my country can be rotted from the inside and conquered that way. We have laws yet our very own judicial system refuses to enforce them! Ban the ACLU, too, and I hope to never again see a muslim.
The U.S. should know exactly who is in this country. It irks me to hear that many people are complaining that their privacy is being invaded. People are so naive and, frankly, stupid. How else can get a handle on the situation. Nothing can be the same until we have solved our security problem.
Poor Mr.Hooper,he just can't seem to portray Islam in a positive light.
On 9/11/01 CAIR posted a statement that the attack should not be assumed to be Muslims and any
assertion could lead to harm towards innocent Muslims. The public(code for non-Muslims) should exercise self-control and not allow hate or bigotry to drive them to racist attack,this looked very nice in print,but when all the suicide murderers professed to actually followers of Islam, CAIR denounced the act of violence and was adamant these 19 hijackers weren't "True" Muslims.
Of course this wouldn't bring me much comfort if I was on any of the planes and about to be cremated against my will,or even if I was handcuffed and blind-folded about to have my head hacked off with a dull knife while several "Untrue" Muslims chant "Allah'a Akbar" and dance for joy.
The next step by CAIR and Mr.Hooper was to blame the victims,CAIR now professed it was America's fault for allowing these men to roam free in the country and not enforce the Visa laws that would
have helped round them up.

Which one is it,are you in favour of Visa laws being enforced for all foreigners or do you want a special dispensation for Muslims because "True" Muslims aren't violent and weren't behind any terrorism against the USA.

CAIR has continued to profile people based on being non-Muslims,in fact he assumes Muslims and Arabs wouldn't have the brains to pull off such
an elaborate scheme as 9/11 was.
Any vandalism to a Mosque is profiled as being done by a non-Muslims even befor any arrests,CAIR loves to blame the victim and the gig is up,Islam is being exposed for the scan it is,a facist mindset created by a misogynistic paedophile that heard voices and convinced people that murdering Gods children for Allah would please him greatly.

Are the CAIR gang Americans or loyal to Islam? It is impossible to be both. People cannot abide by the US Constitution and the Koran.
When Internment Camps are established, CAIR members, including the wily Hooper, should be the first ones to become inmates. There will be no "racial" profiling. Equal opportunities for all adherents of a foreign ideology intent on overthrowing the US Constitutional form of government, whether by violence or demographics, will exist. That means whether Arab, Pakistani, Indonesian, Philippine Moro, Nigerian, etc. jihadist, internment followed by expulsion should be equally applied.
As Islam is an ideology, religious profiling cannot be charged either. Ideological profiling is necessary. Hooper & Co. fall into that category.
Why the hell did Ibrahim Hooper become a Muslim anyway?Was he at one time or another, incarcerated?I ask this because Hooper is a WHITE guy and prisons are the highest breeding ground in America for those who have converted to this....religion....NO....destructive thought process.
