WASHINGTON (AP) — A flight from Paris bound for Dulles International Airport was diverted Saturday night after U.S. Customs officials detained two passengers aboard, officials said.Air France Flight 026 was diverted to Bangor, Maine, when officials realized that one of the passengers was on the U.S. no-fly list.
Yolanda Clark, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration, said authorities were investigating why the passenger was allowed to board the plane in Paris. The other person detained was traveling with the banned passenger. Both were in the custody of local law enforcement in Maine, Clark said.
Obviously the French are not our friends have no intention of honoring our security plans. Enough said.

It's another example of how impotent Paris security is. Why in the helll did it take until they got in the air to find out he was on the no-fly list??

Kemaste is right to a certain extent. French Airport Security is run, alas, by the French. That in and of itself would completely justify the individual in question being able to board a plane for the United States with impunity.
I pose a slightly different opinion. Because the French are, alas, the French, it is easy for me to believe that this was no mistake.
Facts as they pertain to France:
The Statue Of Liberty does not reflect the world view of France, therefore the gift was disingenious. We hold it in higher esteem than France ever did.
France does not like America. France is jealous of lone superpower status in the world. France blocked every effort by the United States through the UN Security Council to force Iraq into compliance with it's 17 resolutions. France did not like us taking away the Oil For Food cash cow that spilled undeserved riches onto their shores (and as of late, in some undeserving people's accounts at the UN). France does not like that we are winning a war in that country where they were doing covert business since the Gulf War of 1991.
So, one has to ask: What is another tragedy perpetrated on the United States by terrorists coming via air from France? Something to smile about.
The passengers were allowed to board the plane,because the french government do not care about the US security,they do not care about the US being attacked by muslim terrorists,or better yet,they try to do their best to facilitate such attacks.
A severe boycott on french products is in order.
Perhaps we should take down the Statue of Liberty and build a burka on it's head and give it back to France and place it beside the Eiffel Tower. The old Liberty site could be a large eagle or a past-president statue.
