Leftist/jihadist nexus alert: a Marxist party in Norway has been collecting money for the jihadists in Iraq. But now they have been called on it by another Norwegian party. From Aftenposten, with thanks to Scandie:
The youth wing of Oslo's Conservative Party has charged the Red Electoral Alliance (RV) with violating terrorism laws after the Marxist worker's party raised money for the resistance movement in Iraq.According to the Conservatives, the money goes to organizations who are fighting the occupation forces and attacking civilians, as well as groups kidnapping and decapitating aid workers.
According to the Conservative Youth, these groups also sabotage the infrastructure in Iraq, destabilize the country and are ruining the civilian population's chance for a life of peace and democracy.
The party concludes that these groups must be by definition terrorist organizations and that RV is violation anti-terrorism laws by contributing financially to their cause.
Another example of the treacherous Left.
"Paragraph 147b of the Criminal Code states that a prison term of up to ten years can await those who collect money or other valuables used, even partially, to fund terrorist acts or other violations of the anti-terrorism paragraph."
If the government enforces the law, it will go a long way towards putting an end to this activity. Imposing the maximum sentence would also certainly help.
The truly silly thing here is that left wing parties usually aren't too successful at putting the touch on the rank-and-file members, who generally do not number among the affluent. Most of the money they raise is from sympathetic trade unions, and, occasionally, even they will balk at supporting really outrageous causes with members' dues as it could get them booted from their elected positions.
On the other hand, Muslim organizations are very good at putting the touch on adherents of modest means.
The discourse about Islam is slowly changing in Norway, too, like the rest of Europe. Hopefully, there will be an awakening soon.
