In light of the news of Seattle Muslim children being taught to kill Americans, this piece by Senior Army Advisor LTC Joseph C. Myers, who kindly forwarded it to Jihad Watch, is all the more urgent. From The Birmingham News:
It's about 8:42 in the morning, and you have just sat down at your desk with a cup of hot coffee. As the sheriff of this small rural community, you are reviewing the overnight reports from your graveyard shift deputies. It was, as usual, a relatively uneventful night.Unbeknownst to you as you read your reports, only about five minutes before, a nondescript car with tinted windows along with two minivans just rolled into the parking lot of your local county elementary school. They stop near the school's main office, parking along the curb.
The doors suddenly fly open and out rush teams of hooded, armed men. They are carrying military load-bearing equipment, handguns, canteens, small backpacks and have rifles, M-16s and AK-47s. They rush to the doors, and immediately two of the men move directly to the front office. The men charge inward, a team of three others follows behind, and two more are hand-carrying a large kit bag between them. The hooded intruders begin to fan out through the school, several rushing down the halls toward the side door exits.
The secretary at the front desk jumps up with her mouth open, ready to scream, but she is slammed to the floor as the two men with weapons pointing shout for all to move away from their desks. One of the men grasps the microphone for school announcements. The other man rounds up those in the office - the vice principal, a student - and orders them to sit down on their hands; another hooded man comes in and begins to quick cuff them. The team with the kit bag moves to the auditorium shouting for the workers to move from the kitchen inside the room. A teacher in the hallway upon seeing armed men running toward her begins to scream, some doors open as teachers peer out. Systematically, armed men enter classrooms screaming orders while blasting air horns for the children to move to the lunchroom. It's chaos at one end of school. Rapidly, students and teachers are herded to the auditorium that doubles as the lunchroom.
An accented, angry voice comes over the intercom system: "Attention, attention teachers. You must move your students to the auditorium immediately." There are screams and confusion in the hallways; one teacher in her classroom begins to argue with one of the men; he shoots her in the head in front of her class. Another teacher, sensing the spreading danger, closes and locks her classroom door, quickly she yells to open the windows and tells the children to climb out and run away. A driver passing by sees a group of children rolling off the school's window ledges and darting across the athletic field.
The auditorium begins to fill. Armed men demand that everyone sit down on their hands; teachers are being beaten and cuffed; children are crying and wetting their clothes; others sit in silent, stunned shock. The men with the kit bag begin to unload homemade bombs. They look like military mines, plastic explosives packed with BBs and buck shot surrounded by duct tape. White milk jugs filled with jelled gasoline are brought out, too. The terrorists are booby trapping the student body.
Its now 8:47 a.m., and you receive a call from the city police, who relay that they just got a hysterical 911 call from the school. "People with guns are in the school!"
What you don't know is that this scenario is also simultaneously playing out in rural schools in Oregon, Colorado, Kentucky and Maine.
What do you do?
As you jump up, you yell a code word alert for the school; you rush to the arms room and order all deputies to move with you. What is your manpower? What deputies and police are available? What is the response time for your special weapons team? Do you have one? Your police dispatch is crying - she has two children at that school. Who do you call at the state level?
As you climb into your cruiser slinging on a flak vest, a city patrolman is at the scene. He can't tell much from outside; he does see vehicles parked at the curb. The alert teacher who sent her students through the window comes running to the patrolman and describes what she saw. As you speed to the school, cable news networks are breaking in around the United States with reports of a school under attack or seizure, first from some small-town location in Kentucky, then another state; the news is confusing.
You arrive by the field across from the school; it's 8:56. You are thinking of the need to seal the area. A state trooper cruiser speeds in. You hear the sounds of fire trucks en route. You are thinking whether you know the layout of the school; whether you know where all entry and exit points are; whether there are clandestine entry points. Finally, you remember what happened in Russia, and you can't believe this is real. Can you try to contain or control this situation? Have you prepared for this test?
I hope so. I hope, too, that the state has planned for it; that procedures, chains of command and jurisdictions are clear. I hope all first responders have thought about this and trained for it. I hope our schools have plans, alerts and procedures in place to react, not from instructions from the principal, but from good instincts and "triggering activities." I hope in terms of combat response that our police can act quickly if need be - to stop a massacre on their own without support - and they have at least practiced once for it.

This scenario makes my blood chill.
As awful as this is, it is their plan. Remember, wasn't it OBL who said that 2 million US children are marked for death?
I work in a school. I'm not allowed to carry weapons into school but everyday, apart from my whistle, I carry my [concealed] Swiss army knife to work with me. I have no idea what good it will do me if I'm every confronted with the above scenario. But I carry it nevertheless.
There are all kinds of deliveries to the school everyday and everyone goes through the office, which is open to the public. The reality is--no matter how many lockdown drills we go through--no school will ever be ready to deal with a military assault of the Beslan magnitude.
And the terrorists know it. They pick on the weak and undefended. The police station is three minutes away from my school. The police won't get there until after the assault is underway, hostages have been taken and the school is rigged with explosives.
For me, the issue is not what to do when it happens but what to do to avoid it.
I know banks have this emergency button that when pressed immediately alerts all nearby police stations of a emergency. Do schools have something similar?
There's a limit to how much we can do to secure our 1000s of schools. One can only be alert and watchful.
And so it begins. And we have been warned and we have warned the others who continue to discount our words as those of cranks and bigots. Unfortunately this is what it takes, a tragedy, in some places in the West to be taken seriously.
Thirteen hundred fifty years of historical evidence can not be discounted or ignored, but it must be in SOMEONE'S interest to do do for little is known about this here in the West.
Woe to those that have Muslims as neighbors for they prey upon and devour you as they have countless others in the guise of tolerance, statism, socialism, cultural diversity, or, the latest, multiculturalism.
Schools are not prepared for this type of emergency. However, in the light of Belsan and Columbine, there must be something in place...I pray that there is.

Thing is if the horrid deed happens here there is really not alot I can do other than stay out of the way of the officials ,or do exactly as they tell me,

I have a Swiss Army knife and I use it to open my mail with, and on occasion I use the "corkscrew blade" in a pinch for opening wine bottles.
As a self-defense weapon it's all but useless. In fact because it's not a "lockback knife" the blade will fold back onto your fingers if you attempt to stab somebody (an attacking terrorist) for example.
If you can't carry a concealed handgun (which I would recomend carrying one anyway, it's your right to defend yourself no matter what the government says) then get a lockback folding knife with 3" blade or longer.

This scenerio can happen on North American soil. If we do not stand on guard, an islamic school seige can/or will happen. Here are some suggestions:
1) Lock all doors and secure windows.
2) Armed personnel should be present.
3) Involve SWAT teams for drills.
4) Install a sleeping gas tanks near ventilation
5) Install a secret route for escape.
Any other suggestions?
If a school attack happens,
Who should all the so called "moderate muslims" fear most. Gangs of angry American mobs looking for revenge or their radical islamic brethren. Well, if a Beslan type tragedy occurs in an American school they will find out.
It is the average muslim that everyone can see that will bear the brunt of the anger and revenge.
This is why they should turn in any radicals that espouse this type of planning because all the terrorists who burst into a school and does this will all be killed, no doubt about it. The American public can't exact revenge on them so who will they be gunning for. It will be the average muslim who will suffer in the end.
Like I said before, MUSLIMS, turn in these people for the sake of your families.

I know. Lots of candlelight vigils, interfaith prayer meetings (including muslims) and the formation of interfaith committees to promote understanding. We haven't the will even to protect (or avenge) our children any more.

Perhaps someone reading this board can offer examples of the Israeli model of school security. In the meantime, I recommend the book -
"Staying Safe"
by: Juval Aviv, a former Israeli Counterterrorism Intelligence Officer.
This book doesn't offer specifics for schools, but does address several specific areas for protecting yourself, your family and business.
His book contains a lot of good, common sense info - much of which can be applied to schools as well.
For example - as regards to 'personnel' (corp. environment) safety:
. . . "Never forget that your most important corporate assests are your people. . .Educate your workforce in counterterrorism. . . Vigilant employees are a company's most valuable counterterrorism tools. . . The sheer number of eyes and ears helps to reduce the dangers. . . So educate your labor force - from top to bottom- in antiterrorism.
. . . Start with the little things to let employees know it's no longer business as usual. . .Embed a culture of security within your company. . . Physical Security is determined by the barriers you build. . . The more sophisticated and extensive the barriers, the harder and longer it will take to get through them. . . . Survey your premises and operations for vulnerabilities and areas of escape. . .Don't overlook heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems. . . Erect concentric rings of defense. . . Install video and security systems. . . Store recorded videotapes for at least a month before reusing . . .etc."
The only suggestion I can think of adding for schools would be to add electronic security . I'm assuming most schools are hard wired for fire/smoke alarms. Perhaps adding panic buttons to the matrix - similar to the type advertised for senior citizens - a panic button of sorts. Provide several remote 'panic buttons' in various areas of the school. If any of the remote alarms are initiated - central emergency services are alerted/dispatched immediately.
Unfortunately, this won't prevent an attack.
Adela made an excellent point above . . .response of US citizenry - (as compared to recent events in Holland) -has shown remarkable restraint in light of S-11.
May I add . . .Should an event that even remotely resembles the Beslan massacre, take place on US soil - the above comments stating 'assumed' reactions(clearly imagined while comfortably sitting at a keyboard) - well, these 'imagined' reactions will appear 'tame' compared to what actually takes place.

Justamomof4 is correct. The Presidential election has shown that the middle class religious majority has found it's voice after 40 years of being badgered into silence by the left. It will be anarchy on a scale never seen before. No muslim will be safe and rightly so. As a mother of 5 and retired army SFC, I will not hesitate to kill any man, woman, or child of arab decent or white or whatever as long as they are muslim they are fair game. They hate us and want all of us dead, there won't be any negotiations because they despise our constitution and our rule of law. We as Americans are not like other cultures and if they do slaughter our children all hell will break loose and baby it's on.
This article just disgusts me. I don't want to believe such a thing, but I know, deep-down, that it would be quite possible. Unfortunately. What such evil psychopaths would hope to achieve, I can't imagine. In their sick and twisted minds they would think it's a great thing, I'm sure.
But in this day and age, I doubt Americans would sit still and just take it. I doubt they'd put up with candlelight vigils and empty words from govt officials & Muslim spokespersons about how Islam is peace and how this is "unIslamic". Not anymore. That might have worked right after 9/11 when we were still in a state of shock all over the world, and ignorant of what Islam was all about. But too many people know the scoop now. And we've seen enough atrocities, and heard more than enough pathetic, empty excuses that we wouldn't fall for it anymore. I'd hate to be a Muslim in America if this sort of attack did occur.
