SRINAGAR, India - A bomb tied to a stray dog in Indian-controlled Kashmir blew up on Friday, killing the animal and wounding four people, police said.The bomb, believed to have been planted by militants, exploded near a bunker of Indian soldiers in Sopore town in the north of disputed Kashmir, a spokesman said.
It is not the first time suspected militants have used animals in attacks on Indian forces. In 2000, a bomb packed on a mule exploded, killing two soldiers.
More than 45,000 people have died since a revolt against Indian rule in its portion of Kashmir took off in 1989.

Forgive me. There is more to this issue of Islam and dogs, I believe. Acceptance of the Qu'ran naturally leads to the psychological process of dehumanizing Infidels; Infidels belong to another moral category altogether and any interaction with 'them' must be guarded, perhaps aggressive, according to rules and commentary of the Prophet.
Likewise, the disparaging comments and rules about dogs in the Qu'ran and Hadiths. Dogs are like Infidels: unclean, to be avoided etc.
What better way to wage Jihad against Infidels who deserve to die than blow up a dog? It makes absolutely perfect sense.
But, there is unmistable natural affection between dogs and humans. Also, the psychological stress of suspicion and alienation must take its toll on folks who truly believe the Qu'ran and Hadiths. The mental schism between wanting to hold a puppy, wanting to shake hands with an Infidels with complete acceptance of that person 'as an Infidel', must be difficult to bear. Humanity must do battle with the inhumane psychic forces generated by the texts.
