DENVER (AP) - The FBI is investigating the reported thefts of scores of propane cylinders in the Denver area - a crime spree that has raised fears of a terrorist attack.About 100 cylinders, each containing about 7.8 gallons of the highly flammable gas and weighing about 33 pounds, have been stolen from various businesses since July, FBI agent Monique Kelso said Monday....
``The potential threat is that these propane tanks get into the wrong hands ... and get into the hands of those that are willing to commit a crime on the magnitude of the Oklahoma City bombing or another terrorist attack,'' Kelso told the station....
Twenty-eight propane cylinders have been stolen from Dal-Tile Corp. of Denver, including 10 in the past six months, said Randy Warren, operations manager at the ceramic tile manufacturer.

Several propane tanks were made into bombs by the kids who perpetrated Columbine. At the same time... is this so unusual? With high fuel costs for the coming winter, could not someone be taking advantadge of things to provide an 'alternate' heating source? Yes, I know this would be limited. But it would not surprise me.

Anyone even CONSIDERING engaging the "hatshepsut" troll when it appears today should go back and read all of the threads from Nov. 6 & 7 JW articles and examine some of the egregious comments it made.
Now you are being targeted as potential da'wa subjects (Nov. 8 "Holland: mosques . . ." comments thread), and yet you simply accept the goodwill of this troll at face value. I recommend that you first examine its now-discredited comments on other threads (specifically the observations made by JTF), Spencer's warnings against addressing it or answering it in any way, and remember the familiar patterns exhibited by other muslim trolls. First they will "clear up our misconceptions", and if they fail to accomplish that, they finally resort to threats about eternal hellfire if they don't manage to cut off our heads first.
This troll has tried to hijack multiple threads on this site for its own agenda over the course of three days. It has been unmasked, and is a poser, [not what it claims to be, especially by way of profession and probably claiming convert status falsely as we see here frequently - some sort of da'wa tool; remember the "converts" who suddenly "saw the light" after September 11?] as most of them usually are. Following up on ala-sux's comments on the propane tanks, if you are aware at all of the bombings carried out by the FARC in Colombia, these are carried out almost exclusively using propane tanks rigged as explosives. I hope Gary is right and that this is just a crime related to the upcoming winter weather.

DENVER – The FBI is investigating the reported thefts of scores of propane cylinders in the Denver area, a crime spree that has raised fears of a terrorist attack.
About 100 cylinders, each containing about 7.8 gallons of the highly flammable gas and weighing about 33 pounds, have been stolen from businesses since July, FBI agent Monique Kelso said Monday. The investigation was first reported by KMGH-TV in Denver.
"The potential threat is that these propane tanks get into the wrong hands ... and get into the hands of those that are willing to commit a crime on the magnitude of the Oklahoma City bombing or another terrorist attack," Kelso told the station.
She said Monday the tanks might also have been taken to power equipment such as farm machinery. The tanks are larger than those used for barbecue grills.

Every winter sees some theft of propane tanks, but when found to be used for heating and other benign purposes, the number is quite small and the locations are scattered and relatively easy to break into.
Winter provides an excellent opportunity for terrorists to steal propane for use in bomb-making equipment and supplies because most sellers stock it in fairly large quantities for heating, because more is required for that purpose than to barbecues.
The number of tanks stolen and the vigor with which the thefts took place makes me quite uneasy.

When you look at OK city you have to look with a differint mind not how many died but how many lived!!
like 9/11/2001 I remember the first days reports and the numbers were any where for 30,000 to 50,000 and the numbers were under 3000 so you have to look at all those who were saved and honor those who died but also honor the living and those who Fight to Destory these Monsters who would kill you and yours!!!

November 9, 2004 -- JERUSALEM — In his four decades as Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat has run a murky financial empire that includes far-flung PLO investments in airlines, banana plantations and high-tech companies, and money hidden in bank accounts across the globe.
Jaweed al-Ghussein, a former PLO finance minister, said Arafat and the PLO were worth $3 billion to $5 billion when he quit in 1996. No one will say how much the organization and its boss are worth now — some estimates say as little as a few million. But as Arafat, 75, fights for life in a hospital near Paris, Palestinians fear that what's left will disappear or be pocketed by Arafat cronies.
"It's the money of the Palestinian people," said Palestinian legislator Hassan Khreishe.
Arafat has long resisted proper accounting for the funds, which include Arab payments to the PLO in the 1970s and 1980s, and Western aid to his self-rule government, the Palestinian Authority, after interim peace deals with Israel in the 1990s.
Arafat lived frugally, but needed large sums to maintain loyalties. He would register investments and bank accounts in the names of loyalists, both to buy their support and protect the holdings from scrutiny and seizure, al-Ghussein said.
Only Arafat had the full picture, he said, and it's not clear whether he has left a will or any financial records.
Mohammed Rashid, Arafat's financial adviser, denied his boss was rich.
"Arafat has no personal property in any part in the world," he told Al-Arabiya television on Sunday. "He doesn't even have a tent, a house, an orchard or any account that we can call personal in the name of Yasser Arafat."
However, Forbes magazine ranked him No. 6 on its 2003 list of the richest "kings, queens and despots," estimating he was worth $300 million. Shalom Harari, a former top Israeli intelligence official, said Arafat has stashed away $700 million.
Two names frequently come up in connection with Arafat's money — Rashid and Arafat's wife, Suha.
Rashid has handled hundreds of millions of dollars in Palestinian Authority revenue Arafat diverted from the treasury.
Suha Arafat, Arafat's wife of 13 years and mother of his daughter, lives in Paris and has received monthly payments of $100,000 from Palestinian coffers, according to a senior official.
Al-Ghussein said the big money from the Arab world started flowing in 1979. For a decade, the PLO received about $200 million a year, $85 million of it from Saudi Arabia, he said.
Al-Ghussein said that during that period, he would hand Arafat a check for $10.25 million every month from the PLO budget, ostensibly for payments to PLO fighters and families of those killed in battle.
Much of the Arab money dried up after Arafat infuriated his patrons in 1990 by siding with Saddam Hussein during Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. But Saddam gave Arafat $150 million in three payments, al-Ghussein said.
The PLO investments are said to have ranged from an airline in the Maldives to a Greek shipping company, banana plantations, a diamond mine in Africa and real estate.
A senior Palestinian Authority official with detailed knowledge of financial transactions said much of the money has been lost. Some of the companies went bankrupt. In other cases, Arafat cronies absconded with the cash. Some frontmen for PLO investments died, and the holdings passed to their families.

CLAMART, France – Yasser Arafat's wife on Monday, accusing his top lieutenants of seeking to grab control from her ailing husband, nearly torpedoed a visit by top Palestinian officials in the first sign of an open power struggle.
Despite the flap, Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia and former Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas left the West Bank for Jordan, to get a flight to Paris to visit Arafat and consult with his doctors. In a screaming telephone call from Arafat's hospital bedside, Suha Arafat told Al-Jazeera television that Arafat's aides were conspiring to usurp her husband's four-decade-long role as Palestinian leader.
"Let it be known to the honest Palestinian people that a bunch of those who want to inherit are coming to Paris," she shouted in Arabic in her first public comments since Arafat left his West Bank compound for France.
"I tell you they are trying to bury Abu Ammar alive," she continued, using Arafat's nom de guerre. "He is all right, and he is going home."
In response, the top aides to Arafat briefly canceled their trip to Paris, but Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath, who is accompanying them, later said the trip was back on and they left Ramallah for Jordan.
A senior aide to Arafat, Tayeb Abdel Rahim, originally said the three were angry with Arafat's wife and didn't want to travel to Paris.
"What came from Suha doesn't represent our people," he said. "If the president were to hear that, he would reject it completely."
He said Mrs. Arafat "wanted to destroy the Palestinian leadership's decision and to be the lone decision-maker."
Mrs. Arafat said she was calling from Arafat's bedside at the French military hospital, where the 75-year-old leader has been in intensive care since Wednesday.
A producer from Al-Jazeera told The Associated Press the station was confident it was Suha Arafat on the phone. She first called the network's Ramallah office, then its headquarters in Qatar.
Her insistence that Arafat was doing fine came a day after French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier called his condition "very complex, very serious and stable right now."
Palestinians have been making contingency plans in the event of Arafat's death.
Qureia and Abbas have been working together to run Palestinian affairs in Arafat's absence and to prevent chaos and violence if the Palestinian leader dies. Qureia has taken on some of Arafat's executive and security powers, and Abbas has been chairing meetings of the PLO's executive body.
Jamil Tarifi, the Palestinian minister of civil affairs, told Al-Jazeera the group was initially hesitant about going, but that the executive committee decided the trip would help "reassure" worried Palestinians.
'Absurd'
Some Palestinians have complained Suha Arafat has gained too much power. She controls the flow of information about Arafat's condition and has taken charge of access to her husband.
"It's an absurd situation that Suha is sitting there and deciding when, how and who," Sufian Abu Zaida, a Palestinian Authority official, told Israel's Army Radio.
Mrs. Arafat, 41, lives in Paris and has not been to the West Bank or had not seen her husband since the latest round of Palestinian violence began in 2000. She is widely believed to have control of vast funds collected by the PLO.
She has largely stayed out of Palestinian politics, although she has occasionally made comments that caused her problems. She has expressed sympathy for militant Palestinian groups, and during a 1999 meeting with then-first lady Hillary Clinton she accused Israel of using poison gas against the Palestinians.
Palestinian leaders are working to avoid chaos or violence in the event of the death of Arafat, who has been ailing for nearly a month.
Doctors have described his condition in recent days as critical but stable and have yet to release a diagnosis.
Early Sunday, one of Arafat's senior aides, Nabil Abu Rdeneh, categorically denied Arafat was in a coma. But Shaath later told CNN that Arafat was in a "reversible" coma. He denied reports of brain or liver damage.
Asked about reports of brain death, Barnier replied, "I wouldn't say that."
Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom, meeting with Chinese officials in Beijing, said Monday that Israel hopes that Arafat, if he were to die, is succeeded by a "new and moderate" leadership willing to fight terrorism. He said that while Arafat was alive "there is no glimmer of hope" Palestinians would carry out anti-terrorism steps.
