Meanwhile, a gentleman in the UK has attempted (unsuccessfully) to get the site shut down, on the basis of a few quotes taken from reader comments -- not on the basis of a single word from me. (However, with unsurprising mendacity, he told Hosting Matters that he had corresponded with me and that my views were even more extreme than the examples he provided from commenters.) I reminded him that I always delete comments that call for nuking Mecca, generalize about "all Muslims," are genocidal, etc., when they are brought to my attention, but comments continue to be largely unmoderated -- I don't have at this point the time or resources to monitor them.
And I have to wonder about this man's priorities when jihadists are plotting and carrying out violence all over the world, and he would rather direct his energies to shutting down a site that tries to educate people to mount an intelligent resistance to that jihad within the laws of the governments under which they live.
Muslim leaders themselves have acknowledged on numerous occasions that important aspects of Islamic law contradict the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, particularly in regard to rights for women and freedom of conscience for non-Muslim minorities in Islamic states.
So what are we to make of someone who opposes efforts to resist, in the name of universal human rights, the violent imposition of that law upon non-Muslim societies? Theo van Gogh's murder is eloquent testimony to the fact that such efforts are continuing to advance in Western countries. Someone who tries to stamp out resistance to the global jihad is in the exact same position as those who in the 1930s decried anti-Nazi efforts as somehow "anti-German." If such a man was not a Nazi himself, he was certainly helpful to the Nazi cause.
I remember reading, during the Cold War, a supercilious article sneering at a conservative politician who had been seen at a concert of Russian music -- Prokofiev or Rachmaninov, I believe. The article was surprised that this staunch anti-Soviet could enjoy something Russian -- as if his anti-Communism meant ipso facto that he hated Russians and all things Russian.
That was puerile, stupid stuff then, and it is now. To resist the jihad is not in the least identical to hating Muslims, and this charge is at bottom only a tactic of the jihadists and their fat, preening, self-satisfied, morally bankrupt useful idiots. I will not give in to it, any more than I will to the jihadists themselves.

Hard not to laugh when a message from Pakistan applauds your efforts in the mistaken notion your site supports his understanding of Islam as a force for conquest.
Funny that the person from the UK seeks to have this site shut down while totally ignoring people such as that individual from Pakistan above, who represents a view held by a significant number of people from Islamic lands settled in Western countries, such as The United Kingdom itself.
Charges against you and this site are baseless and any attempt to shut it down is merely the standard operating procedure of those who are assisting in the dismantling of Western civilization by acting in the spirit of dhimmitude or Islamists themselves.
There is no doubt that the psychological elements of the ongoing jihad against us has many elements, yet as inexplicable as it seems, many Westerners are direct actors in their own extinction.
Perhaps the passivity and fecklessness of Western democracies and over-permissiveness of decadent non-Muslim societies is less appealing that the brute force and solid cohesiveness of Islam.

The attempt to close you down is expected as they wish that we would sit in total silence, waiting, as good dhimmis to accept what they say is inevitable -- capitulation to Islam and the realization that in our dhimmi state we are chastened and subdued. This is stage one.
Stage two, of course, is the joyful acceptance of Islam and all the horrors that it brings: mind control, incessant rituals, brutalization, chastening of the body, and so on.
I simply don't see anything wonderful or beautiful in the Muslim experience.
People must be told what Islam is about in an explicit manner and they must be told what Muslims are about using language that grabs their attention and makes them think about what they would gain and what they would lose. Certainly vulgarities are out of the question, but strong language that allows one to visualize is often useful as Americans prefer to learn through demonstration and visual cue.
Certainly it is useful, and appropriate, to target an audience in the manner that best suits them, not you, the writer. This point is often missed.

I can vouch for Mr. Spencer deleting extreme toxic comments. I remember he deleted Mr. Rikki's comment on
"wanting to pass white hot rivets through my cheeks" when I first came to JW.
On the whole I think most unmoderated comments are OK, but wanting to nuke the ME or eridicating Islam from the planet are unwarranted, the promote hate and DO polarise dangerous thinking.
I have 3 points to make on this:
1) Muslims getting the blame in all stories. I was thinking about the fuss on the new mosque in Boston. Muslims followed due process...and still got all the blame...this cannot be right!
2) Unmoderated comments do prevent other muslims coming on to make a contribution related to an opposing view...believe me as a muslim you need a bit of a thick skin to come here....and I would be disappointed for people to say "so don't come here", if Mr. Spencer says it I will comply as he is the owner.
3) A website like this can polarise thinking that stops you from thinking stright: after all "are you absolutely certain that you are right"...perhaps you are duped by your government too.
Now you'll say "Oh, no Naseem, here we go again" but let me give you an example.
In the recent "moderates threads" Mr. Hugh went to into great detail (and I paraphrase) "that no matter what you in the West do, how you try to help, the muslim will *never* turn or bend...he could be really moderate one moment ...and then turn on a sixpence into an extremist".
And all the people here absolutely loved it, lapped it up, they took it hook line and sinker.
In view of you *knowing* this, why do support your administration spending hundreds of billions of *your* money on Iraq.
Mr. Hugh *knows* that Iraqi "democracy" will turn on a sixpence and you are all right behind him...so why do you allow your government get away with this lie.
Naseem, in your comments, you make the assumption that our government both knows and believes they are lying. (At least this is what I am reading in your comments, if I am wrong, I am willing to be corrected.) However, we believe that our gov't is being naievely optomistic about the potential for spreading democracy in the Arab world. A person can, after all, be sincere and sincerely wrong.
Personally, I believe that there are many in the West who do not understand Islam well enough to understand just what is going on there in thought and philosophy (hence, the need for sites like this to inform people about what is going on in the Muslim world). I am sure that Mr. Bush and the American gov't believes very strongly that Islam is not all that different from their own religious background. They assume that the people of those gov'ts who are "moderates" will be more than happy to be free under a democratic society. This is called being naieve. I, myself, don't hold out this sort of optomism - and I feel if you asked most of the posters here they wouldn't feel much differently. However, that is for them to say.
Last time I looked Mr Hugh, was not running US foreign policy. Anyway, you can never be an agreement with 100 % of a government's actions. No government has only one issue, so when you vote you can only choose a candidate who's broadly in favour of most of the ideals which are important to you.
The US and the West are guilty of one thing and that is naivity. Our judeo-christian heritage can be summarised by the words "Do unto others as you would have them do to you". This broadly underlines the philosophy of believers, atheists, agnostics, liberals and conservatives. We kind of expect all others to feel the same as we really don't know any different. This is how you can have a dinner party with gays, conservatives, priests, students, teachers, and rock stars and they won't end up killing each other. This is why Republicans didn't engage in mass slaughter of Democrats after the recent elections. The guiding morality of Islam is whether you are muslim or not. And beyond that is whether you are muslim enough or not. There is nothing in any western constitution justifying the death of someone who disagrees with you. The Islamic constitution is the Koran, and killing infidels is perfectly OK. The question asked on the 11th of September "Why do they hate us?" has now been answered: Muslims are ideologically programmed to hate us. Your game is up. Why should we ever trust you? We are not abandoning 2000 years of arts, architecture, science and philosphy to satisfy your wierd death cult.

A Dutch friend is helping with some more obscure idioms (their word "dor" literally means "withered"- where the author "M. Rasoel" asks: "Is de Nederlander dor?" - "Is the Netherlander 'withered'." But it means something more like "washed-up", "a spent force" or "on the wane"...)
I'm trying to catch the writer's sly wit and deadly serious intent, which reads something like "A Modest Proposal" Swift, or even more like the flavor of Twain's "Innocents Abroad", although in a simpler, more heartfelt way. (It was penned by an immigrant to Holland, and he was helped with his un-literary Dutch by a Netherlander journalist for linguisitic polish.)

The issue over the mosque was, as I recall, about the development's proponents seeking a significant break on the cost of acquiring the land from the municipal government (paying only about 25% of the fair market value) when, with $22 million in donations from Saudi sources, they could easily afford to pay the full price.
Beneath this, of course, is the issue of whether or not jihadism will be preached to the congregants and taught in the classrooms.
What don't you grasp about either of these two issues that you can cry unfair treatment.
What would you think if a non-Muslim religious order came along to set up shop in Pakistan, with clerics who denounce Pakistani society, exhort its members to acts of violence and then, to top it off, come begging for financial relief. Would you think that was acceptable?

Thank you waterdragon, for pointing out once again a comparison that simply does not compute in the Islamic mind. They are incapable of comparing apples with apples because they are duplicitous hypocrites! Your analogy should open Naseem's eyes, but it won't!
It's no secret that muslims consider themselves and Islam a cut above all other people and religions, but their brazen arrogance is almost impossible to tolerate without the utterance of expletives. After all, they have invaded our country and unabashedly announced that they're taking over; it's just a matter of time. Did they think we would trample each other in a stampede to the mosques to convert?! I believe they did! They actually thought that Americans would convert to Islam by the millions with little or no effort on their part. How crushed they must be.
In my humble opinion, not one more mosque should be built in America until a cathedral and a synagogue are erected in Riyadh, both on the scale of the grand mosques the Saudis have built and financed all over the world, and with similar grand openings with VIP's and media coverage. And since the Saudis love to build mosques in our country on donated or deeply discounted PUBLIC LAND, they should provide adequate land, free of charge.
Muslims have already announced that they and Islam are not here to be equal to us and our religions, they're here to destroy our religions and overthrow our government. That's all I need to know. My indignation, fury, and contempt are merely natural reactons to their overt threats.
If we attempted to do in their lands what they do in ours, we would be dead five minutes after we arrived.
I must ask myself why this Islamic apologist or obstructionist, whichever the case may be, does not better use his time to try to shut down jihadist sites that promulgate vicious invective aimed at the West, America in particular.
Whether he is a muslim or an apologist/useful idiot really doesn't matter; he is an enemy of Western civilization because he is promoting its destruction. Anyone who uses the "hate, bigotry,Islamophobe" mantra to silence justified criticism of Islam while condoning Islamic hate rhetoric is either a rabid jihadist or an idiot.

it is my desire to be part of a movement whose primary intent is to peacefully work towards the end of islam on this planet.
Obviously we cannot have a mass murderer as the template for any society on this small planet, so mo and islam must go.
Sadly, islamists know the game is up, and are attacking us everywhere, thinking incorrectly, as did Hitler, that our soft democratic societies will buckle and acquiesce rather than gird for bloody conflict.
One of these attacks however, will produce a response from islams enemies that is not restrained, focused and limited as the U.S. response was to 9/11.
I, like most sane people, would prefer peace, and for me the time to work to convince muslims that mo is the wrong template for the planet. I doubt that i will have the time.
Recently our church hosted a radio personality from Jerusalem who has many friends in the Palestinian Territory. He has written several books concerning the muslim goal of destroying Christianity and western societies, to replace them with Islam. In his speech to us, he documented a number of prominent muslims who told him outright that their goal is to eventually put us all out of business and to turn the US into either an Islamic nation or keep us in dhimmitude.
We must get our act together and outlaw these radical clerics before it is too late!
