Human Rights Watch: Child suicide attacks 'must stop'

I appreciate what Human Rights Watch is doing but shouldn't they really be saying that "ALL suicide attacks against innocent civilains should stop"

Child bomber or adult bomber the victims are the same.

For the victims of a child suicide bombing their suffering is just as "egregious" as the bombing by an adult.

It's about time the human rights community spoke up on this one.

In their release, there's little mention of the three Israelis that were killed in Tel Aviv recently. They want terrorist groups to discontinue the use of minors in "military activities."

A suicide bomber is killing innocent people regardless of age. Will they applaud the Palestinians when they use only adults to do their dirty work for them?

It includes the HR treaties as well as the ratification status for every UN member state. You will notice that many countries have not ratified the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict and several others have entered reservations to the optional protocol. The most notorious abusers are terrorist organizations and other armed groups - African children are the world's most vulnerable, and obviously this is a widespread problem in the Occupied Territories.

This organization is obviously more concerned for the child that blows himself up than the many children who are killed or maimed by suicide bombers. How more blatantly antisemitic can you be?

I`m sorry but it all sounds so lame to me. Does this group have any teeth in influencing the United nations or any muslim countries? I doubt it. Are they just going on record as being opposed to children as suicide bombers and that`s it? What was their position on the massacre of children in Beslan? The genocide in darfur? the forced marriages of children to muslims men who have them killed if they don`t comply? the honor killings of teenage girls that where raped by muslim men? ---Just asking.

I agree this is lame. The jihadists not only recruit minors, they use their own civilian population as human shields. And,of course, what about the human rights of the targets.

And just NOW the human rights groups come out to tell us using teenagers as suicide bombers is wrong? How about telling the world that purposefully murdering Israelis is wrong without following the statement with a "however."

Arafat denounces US-Israeli Gaza plan -- Yasser Arafat today insisted that Palestinian refugees would never give up their right to return to their former homes in the West Bank, in defiance of a new US-Israeli initiative to resolve the Middle East conflict. Earlier, the EU also dismissed the "disengagement plan", saying it would refuse to recognise changes to the Middle East peace plan unless they were agreed to by both sides...some analysts say that the shift in US policy will mean the end of the roadmap, which envisaged independent Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the two occupied territories, alongside Israel.

You could have come up with something believable.

Just to those who should feel adressed.
Please people, Human Rights Watch is NOT saying that it's oke to kill Israeli women and children as long as the attacks are carried out by adults.
Read their statement, they say TWO things:

A) Any attack on civilians is prohibited by international law.

B) Palestinian armed groups must clearly and publicly condemn all use of children under the age of 18 for military activities, and make sure these policies are carried out."

IMHO this means they condemn terrorism ie attacks on Israeli civilians carried out by whomever whereever and for whatever reason, and demand that military attacks ie attacks on the Israeli military occupation force should not be carried out by juvenals.

I am aware that it may LOOK academic, given the fact that Palestinian terrorist attacks vastly outnumber their military attacks.

This is what the mother of the 16 year old suicide bomber said.

She was angry that they had chosen her son saying they should have sent someone older.

So she was not against the idea, only her son should have waiter a couple of more years.

As for the victims, ..............

What a great religion of peace, tolerance.......mercy.....compassion.... wisdom.

Another case was where the bomber died without killing any victims.
His parents were angry at the bad planning that resulted in a wasted martyr who didn't kill anyone.
