JAKARTA - An Islamic cleric on trial in Indonesia on terrorist charges including over the Bali bombings on Thursday warned President George W. Bush’s reelection victory spelled “disaster” for the United States.Abu Bakar Bashir, who is accused of being a figurehead for the Al Qaeda-linked Jemaah Islamiyah regional group accused Bush of meddling in Indonesian affairs and warned of retribution unless he stopped.
“Bush’s victory will bring another disaster for America unless he changes his actions,” Bashir told reporters as he arrived for a second day of his trial in which he faces a possible death penalty if convicted.
“America is intervening on many issues in Indonesia, they are the master in this country,” he said.
Bashir denies charges of inciting militants to carry out the October 2002 Bali attacks in which 202 people killed and of involvement in the bombing of the US-franchised Marriott hotel in Jakarta last year in which 12 died....
He said Bush feared the introduction of hardline Islamic sharia law in the world’s largest Muslim-populated country, which currently practises a moderate strain of the faith.
Although he made no specific threats, Bashir said he anticipated major problems for the United States during Bush’s next term.
“God willing, there will be a lot of disasters,” he said.

German Library Fire Destroyed 50,000 Books

WEIMAR, Germany -- A fire that hit a historic German library earlier this month destroyed twice as many books as previously thought, with some 50,000 works suffering irreparable fire damage, officials said Tuesday.
The Sept. 2 fire at Weimar's Duchess Anna Amalia Library tore through the roof and top floor of the 16th-century rococo palace housing the library, destroying classic books from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries in the city where the nation's most revered writer, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, spent much of his life. "The damages are much more terrible than we thought on the night of the fire," Hellmut Seemann, the president of the foundation that supports the library, told reporters.
In addition to the books lost, Seemann said that about 62,000 books were damaged, about 20 percent of the library's collection. Restoring those books will cost up to $73 million and take some seven years.
The books lost in the fire will be listed in an online database to be made available to the public, library director Michael Knoche said.
In addition, 37 paintings, including a 1760 portrait of Countess Anna Amalia by Johann Friedrich Loeber, were destroyed. Another 100 paintings, 80 sculptures and 20 drawings were damaged but can be restored, officials said.
Fire investigators have still not pinpointed the exact cause of the blaze, although earlier this month they said that a faulty electrical cable may have been responsible.

Telegraph: Syria To Send Iraqi Scientists To Teheran
Answering in part the question of the disposition of Saddam's WMD efforts, the London Telegraph reports tonight that Syria is negotiating with Iran to send Iraqi nuclear-weapons scientists to Teheran in order to keep from being the next target of the American war on terror:
Syria's President Bashir al-Asad is in secret negotiations with Iran to secure a safe haven for a group of Iraqi nuclear scientists who were sent to Damascus before last year's war to overthrow Saddam Hussein. ...
A group of about 12 middle-ranking Iraqi nuclear technicians and their families were transported to Syria before the collapse of Saddam's regime. The transfer was arranged under a combined operation by Saddam's now defunct Special Security Organisation and Syrian Military Security, which is headed by Arif Shawqat, the Syrian president's brother-in-law.
The Iraqis, who brought with them CDs crammed with research data on Saddam's nuclear programme, were given new identities, including Syrian citizenship papers and falsified birth, education and health certificates. Since then they have been hidden away at a secret Syrian military installation where they have been conducting research on behalf of their hosts.
Growing political concern in Washington about Syria's undeclared weapons of mass destruction programmes, however, has prompted President Asad to reconsider harbouring the Iraqis.
Not only did Syria allow Saddam's nuclear-weapons data to escape the Coalition, but apparently they've been using it to bolster their own research over the past two years. Now that the heat is on, Asad wants to sneak them out of the country -- or perhaps their work is already complete? Intelligence agencies have evidence that Damascus has purchased gas centrifuges from North Korea, which are an essential component for developing nuclear fuel for weapons. And who did Asad call when he wanted these Iraqis out of Syria? The Iranian mullahs, who have been working on their own nuclear research and probably would like the assistance.
Let's recall that Syria is a member of the UN Security Council, supposedly a member of the body that Kofi Annan says has to approve our actions in defense of our own security ... and also a member of the counterterrorism committee for the UN, a laughably inappropriate assignment. This UNSC member-state allowed Saddam's nuclear scientists to flee just ahead of the invading Americans, which means that Syria knew the Iraqis had not complied with any of the 16 resolutions calling for its disarmament.
Now Asad wants to send them to the very nation which the IAEA will shortly refer to the same UNSC for repeated violations of the nuclear disarmament treaty to which Iran signed. He's trying to undermine the security of the region and give weapons technology to the same people who underwrite much of the terrorist efforts in the Middle East. It looks like Asad wants to help Iran rush to develop nuclear weapons before anyone gets a chance to act, all while trying to keep its own skirts as clean as possible.
Once again, we see the folly of working with an organization of dictators, thieves, and appeasers and expecting anything except betrayal and duplicitousness. Americans who believe that the UN -- and especially the UNSC -- are the only legitimate authority for establishing international security are either naive fools or malicious malcontents. I leave it to you to decide in which category John Kerry should fall, but clearly his insistence that America has to earn the approval of corrupt states that undermined sanctions against Saddam and sheltered his WMD architects and materials makes us markedly less secure.
Syria now has made clear that they are an enemy that needs attention immediately. The US and UK should demand the handover of the scientists, their materials, and anything else Asad has been hiding from the Coalition and the UN. The two Coalition partners should also demand the removal of Syria from the UNSC immediately. Failing that, it's time to create a coalition of democracies and bypass the failing bureaucracy at Turtle Bay for anything more serious that speeches and debates.

They said, ‘We know more about farming [seeing that you are terrorists and all].’ So Muhammad made peace with them for a half share, provided that: ‘If we want to expel you, we may.’ He made a similar arrangement with Fadak. So Khaybar became the prey of the Muslims, while Fadak belonged exclusively to the Messenger of Allah, becoming his personal property, because the Muslims had not attacked its people with cavalry.”

They do not pay you respect, or honor you or the ties of kinship or covenant. With (good words from) their mouths they entice you [out negotiate you], but their hearts are averse to you.”
Qur’an 9:12 “If they violate their oaths and break treaties, taunting you for your Religion, then fight these specimens of faithlessness.”
Tabari VIII:163 “The Prophet said, ‘I think you will see Abu Sufyan [the leading Meccan merchant] come to strengthen the pact and extend the term.’” Ishaq:543 “Abu Sufyan went to Muhammad in Medina to affirm the peace treaty, but Muhammad refused to speak to him.” Tabari VIII:164 “Sufyan went to Abu Bakr and asked him to intercede, but he refused. When Sufyan asked Umar to help [avert war], he replied, ‘No way. By Allah, if I had only ant grubs, I would fight you with them! Ali said, ‘Woe to you, Sufyan. When the Messenger has determined a thing it is useless for anyone to talk to him.’”
Tabari VIII:165 “There is nothing that you can do to make peace with him.”
Tabari VIII:165 “When Abu Sufyan reported back to the Quraysh that Muhammad had given him no reply, they said, ‘Woe to you! By Allah, he did no more than play with you.’”
Ishaq:544 “Muhammad commanded the people to prepare for the foray [raid, incursion, sortie, attack, or assault]. The Messenger informed his troops that he was going to Mecca. He ordered them to prepare themselves and ready their equipment quickly. He said, ‘O Allah, keep spies and news from the Quraysh until we take them by surprise in their land.’”
Tabari VIII:182 “Allah had enabled Muhammad to take the persons of the Quraysh by force, giving him power over them so they were his booty. Their lives were now his spoil.”
Ishaq:552 “When the populace settled down, Muhammad went to the Ka’aba and compassed it seven times on his camel, touching the Black Stone with a stick. Then he went inside the Temple. There he found a dove made of wood. He broke it in his hands and threw it away.” [The first idol Muhammad broke was the international symbol of peace.]
Tabari IX:58 “When the Messenger reached Tabuk the governor of Aylah [a seaport at the north end of the Gulf of Aqabah] came to him, made a treaty, and agreed to pay the jizyah tax. The people of Jarba and Adhruh also offered to pay him the tax.”
Ishaq:607 “The Byzantines encountered the Messenger’s cavalry which was led by Khalid. Ukaydir was seized and his brother Hassan was killed. Muhammad spared his life and made peace with him on the condition that he pay the zakat tax.”
Tabari IX:79 “In this year the zakat was made obligatory, and the Messenger dispatched his agents to collect it. The verse was revealed: ‘Take the zakat from their wealth to purify them.’”
Ishaq:316 “In peace you are wild asses—rough and coarse. And in war you are like women wearing corsets. But I care not so long as my hand can grasp my trusty blade.”
Qur’an 8:61 “But if the enemy inclines toward peace, do you (also) incline to peace, and trust in Allah. Should they intend to deceive or cheat you, verily Allah suffices: He strengthened you with His aid and with Believers.” [The small print is real important. “Should they intend to deceive or cheat” is an open invitation to invoke 8:57 to 60. The first to interpret this surah said:]
Ishaq:326 “If they ask you for peace on the basis of Islam (submission), make peace on that basis. Be of one mind by His religion.”
Tabari VIII:17 “The Muslims and polytheists stayed in their positions for twenty nights with no fighting except for the shooting of arrows and the siege. When the trial became great for the people, the Messenger sent for the leaders of the Ghatafan [Meccan comrades]. He offered them a third of the date harvest of Medina on condition that they leave. The truce between the sides progressed to the point of drawing up a written document, but there was no witnessing or firm determination to make peace; it was only a matter of maneuvering.”
Ishaq:454 “Now that Allah has conferred Islam on us, and made us famous, shall we give them our property? By Allah, we will offer them only the sword until Allah judges between us.’ ‘As you wish,’ said Allah’s Messenger.”
Tabari VIII:100 “Abu Sufyan said, ‘We were merchants but the fighting between us and Muhammad has prevented us from journeying, so our wealth is depleted. [This is the purpose of terrorism.] Even after the truce with the Muslims, we fear that we still are not safe. [Muslims, continuing to plunder Meccan caravans, violated the treaty twenty times.]’”
Qur’an 4:90 “For those who join a group between you and whom there is a treaty, or (those who become) weary of fighting you, had Allah had willed, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you. Therefore if they withdraw and wage not war, and send you (guarantees of) peace, then Allah has not given you a way (to war) against them.” [The purpose of terror is to cause people to become so “weary of fighting” they surrender.]
Qur’an 4:91 “You will find others who, while wishing to live in peace and being safe from you to gain the confidence of their people; thrown back to mischief headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and offer you peace besides restraining their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given you a clear sanction and authority.” [So if you wish to live in peace, but are perceived as being mischievous (i.e., non-Muslim), Allah has given his Jihad warriors “a clear sanction and authority to seize and kill” you.]

They just don't get it. The people have stood up and told them, the jihadist, the U.N. and the E.U. to stuff it.
Fallujah is about to be razed, Arafat is dead and Osama is whinning on tape about how the U.S. has stopped him.
The true begining of the end is coming, here at least. Conversations in line at the voting office showed the temperment of the people here and it all had to do with the threats. The more they threaten, the more determined people are to stand up against it.
You can bet groups like CAIR are doing some rethinking right now also.
Now, is also the time to really start pushing the Secretary of Education about banning the spread of Islam in our schools.
That is the one thing as a group we need to concentrate on. A constant bombardment of e-mails with passages from the Quran, along with quotes from these stupid clerics to illustrate the point of how it is used to create fanatics.

On one level I feel sorry for the so called "moderate muslims" (I say normal humans) like our gracious host.
Passages like the above long but educational list of quotes only serve to point out the roots of violence and hatred deep within the islamic religion, planted by muhamed (I know it's spelled wrong) himself, which seeps through islam to this day. How long have they worked to moderate and amend the religion into something that appeared peaceful... Only to have their own remind the world what their roots really are... How do the moderates come to terms with the contradictions and the silence against injustice within their own faith? How does one accept a religion that's steeped in hatred and violence?
If moderate Islam doesn't get control of their religion soon, the whole world will be against them and few will survive - maybe for the best - but a pitiful ending for the innocent in the desert lands.
