VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- Raising doubts about its commitment to dispel international distrust, Iran is producing significant quantities of a gas that can be used to make nuclear arms just days before it must stop all work related to uranium enrichment, diplomats said Friday.Iran recently started producing uranium hexafluoride at its gas-processing facilities in the central city of Isfahan, the diplomats told The Associated Press.
When introduced into centrifuges and spun, the substance can be enriched to varying degrees. Low-grade enriched uranium is used in nuclear power plants. Highly enriched uranium forms the core of nuclear warheads.
While Iran says it is only interested in enrichment to generate power, the United States and its allies accuse Tehran of wanting the technology to make weapons-grade uranium.
Iran is developing nuclear material for only hostile purpses - for blackmail and intimidation to equip terrorists with a nuclear weapons.
Iran has stated that they will "comply" with the mandate of the E.U. Remember how Saddam complied with U.N. mandates and sanctions. No one with half a brain could possibly believe them!
Iran is not developing nuclear weapons as a deterrent. They plan to use them as part of a first-strike doctrine, most probably against Israel. I don't think the Iranian warheads would become rogues until there are significant numbers of warheads produced. Before that level is produced I believe the launch against Israel is more likely.
So the question becomes, what will the other nuclear powers do if Iran launches a pre-emptive strike agains Israel? If Iranian cities like Tehran, Qom, Isfahan, Mashhad, Tabrīz, and Shiraz are erased by thermonuclear strikes in the wake of an Iranian strike against Israel, what would the rest of the Islamic world do? Would it be necessary to also simultaneously take out Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, Cairo, Iskandarīyah, Dhāka, Chāţţagām, Damascus, Beirut, Jakarta, Karachi, Islamabad, Quetta, Lahore, Surabaya, Tashkent, Kuala Lumpur, Bamdung, Medan, etc. as a prophylactic measure?

I wonder where a compuuuuutah model could be found to simulate the fallout patterns from such strikes.?
Seems ,at a glance that China! would catch a LOT of radioactive grief over any medium to large scale thermonuclear assault on the islamic held middle east?,and also parts of Russia.

I see lately that "some" media is
more and more often using the words like "islamic"/"muslim" in conjunction with words like "terror ...and threat.

In the first gulf war... Israel made quite clear that any "non-conventional" missile attack would be met with a full-on retaliation in kind.

EXACTLY......,that is definitely something for them to think about ..................................
For IRAQ to launch any kind of thermonuclear missile strike at Israel would be met with a full-on retaliation .The birds would be in the air long before Iraq's nukes could disable any launch abilities.
This begs the question ,Is the Iranian missile situation some kind of smoke screen ???

On September 11, 2001 the President of the United States flew to Barksdale AFB in Louisiana aboard one of two B747 aircraft normally used for Air Force One missions (VC025A). It is believed that at Barksdale, the president and only a handful of his senior staff, changed planes and embarked upon another B747, one of four configured as airborn strategic command centers (E-4B) and flew to Offutt AFB in Nebraska. He spent the greater part of that fateful day in the underground USSTRATCOM Command Center (a.k.a. "molehole"), that was described to the press by White House counsel Karen Hughes as a "secure undisclosed location".
For the first time in history, the president was physically present in the room from which the National Command Authority directive to launch strategic nuclear forces is broadcast to all three legs of the US nuclear triad during an actual national emergency. While the safety of the president was a concern, it was more important that the ability to issue the NCA command was preserved during the emergency. The NCA can be issued by the President, the Vice-President, or the Secretary of Defense, in that order. The Vice-President was in the White House situation room and the Secretary of Defense was in the burning Pentagon. Noone was sure at the time whether more attacks on Washington, including the White House, were coming, so it was decided that the best course of action was to transport the president to the Command Center itself.
Only when the true scope of the attack could be assessed was it deemed safe to bring the president back to Washington, or more precisely, to physically separate him from the Command Center.
What I have described above should sober anyone who might harbor a doubt about how serious the United States is about using nuclear weapons (again) if necessary. Of course it is not necessary that the NCA be physically located in the Command Center or aboard the E-4B to issue the command to launch nuclear forces (think "football") but having the president in the Command Center itself completely cut out the entire communications infrastructure that connects the NCA to the source of the command transmission to the launch platforms worldwide.
It is possible that the world has never been closer to global nuclear holocaust than it was on 9/11.
