Islamic jihadists kill five in Kashmir

Ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's scheduled visit to Jammu and Kashmir, five persons were killed by terrorists.... The terrorists barged into the house of Abdul Rahim Malik at Suzeat Kawoosa near Srinagar and tried to kidnap two counter-insurgents present there, police said. As their attempts were resisted by the family members, the terrorists opened fire, killing five people, including a middle-aged woman.

We've not been hearing much about Kashmir just lately. has there been a lull in the violence or is there some kind of media lock down.

Off topic but not really. Below is a copy of an E-mail I sent to NBC for their irresponsible bashing of American troops.


To NBC: Please pass this on to your editing and production departments. NBC has lost a household for its ratings. I feel that many more will follow because of their portrayal of our Armed Forces of being some sort of evil force.

I write in several news publications, and I have no problem telling my crowd what a group of left-wing story spinning, enemy backing problem children you are. I will be copying Michael Savage, FoxNews, and several Weblogs with this e-mail.

Now, stop disgracing our troops and making them out to be the bad guys. They are fighting an enemy on our behalf. This enemy plays by no rules, do you understand that?

Grow up. I apologize for my lack of kindness, but after the stories I see published in American News agencies like yours and the NYT that are negative and critical of American Forces, I've run out of pleasantries. Again, stop bashing our troops, you are still Americans, aren't you?

good going, d.c. sometimes one has to call a spade a spade. don't hold your breath for change, however. these media organizations are involved in an oblivious and destructive philosophy -- namely, leftwing postmodernism. it is a groupthink mental phenomenon and grabs hold of the mind and fossilizes it. this is why dan rather cannot comprehend what is happening to his image. instead of instrospection and reflection, this mindset engages in even more narcissism in hopes that they can seize power if but only they are more passionate about their invisible revolution

Don't be too sure that letter campaigns to broadcast network execs won't have an effect. Back in the 1970s, Bridget Loves Bernie was very popular with the broader public -- a top 10 show -- but a segment of the Jewish community sent a lot of letters of complaint arising from the concern that the show would lead a lot more Jews to marry outside of their faith community, so it was canned after year 1.

Who knows but that a concerted campaign vis news bias might have more impact than we want to imagine. The meat puppets and producers may suffer from political biases, but their bosses are keenly aware of the importance of ratings to their economic well-being.

Nice letter, DC Watson.

I was apalled at the coverage shown and hope and pray the said soldier will be allowed to return to duty un-harassed. Its no secret lots of times these jihadis booby-trap bodies or carryout suicide bombings after naive troops get close enough to them.

The complete antipathy of the MSM to American interests abroad and at home is shocking. I;m hoping market discipline will shake up things there, when they see alternative news outlets doing better than them by respecting Americans' intelligence in knowing that their troops are the good guys.
