Imam Fawaz Damra, 42, of Strongsville, facing two months in prison and four months of house arrest, will be assigned inmate No. 39428-060 when he begins his sentence. A judge ordered him to surrender on Monday....Damra was convicted in June of concealing ties to Afghan Refugee Services, the Islamic Committee for Palestine and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, groups the U.S. government classifies as terrorist organizations. He lost his citizenship with his conviction and could face deportation....
Damra had sought to delay his sentence until January to await the arrival of his wife's parents from the Middle East. Damra said his wife is suffering from depression and cannot work to support their three children during his imprisonment.
Judge James S. Gwin rejected the delay. The government said the family's net worth of $191,180, its positive monthly cash flow and limited details on Nasreen Damra's health meant the imam should go behind bars as scheduled.

Where did the $191,000 come from -- one of the "charities" having to do with Afghanistan or points west? That money should be taken away, not least to repay various costs associated with the prosecution of Damra. And to make sure that the message goes out that perhaps Zakat will just have to be aimed United Way-wards, even if, alas, it might actually then help some impoverished non-Muslims as well. Too bad.
And the deportation is far more important than the imprisonment -- what could be worse than being sent back to a Muslim country, in dar al-Islam? Living freely in a Muslim country will be far more unpleasant, for Damra and his family, than his having to spend a few months doing comfortable jail-time.

interesting link. Yes, it seems to defend the pro-murder attitudes of Muslims, in a they-can't-help-it, it's-their-mindset- kind of way. But that's exactly what's interesting about it. Look at this quote:

The picture attached to the article is egregious enough. Interesting, that the author's own words condemn the idea of assimilation into western culture, an issue that has been aired here at JW more times than I can count. I'm sure the author did not intend to support the idea that Islam is completely incompatible with western society, but the article does that quite well.

The submission thing, in context, is the submission of religious authority to civil government, which is a must in western society, and still produces tensions where those representing the most traditional interpretations of religions are often upset at the laws of the land.
In the U.K. the last person judicially killed for blasphemy was about 250 years ago ( sorry, don't have the exact date ) Not long.
We have come a long way in the last few hundred years.

I disagree totally with the auther that the fragility of the society is what necessitated the ecclesiastical murders of yesteryear in Christendom, and to this minute in islam; the reason is the desire for total control and total power by the religious authorities, which if anything suggests their intimations of institutional fragility.
The auther is primarily wrong when he suggests the virtual dissolution of all Christian groups save the evangelicals, and ditto for all but the ultra orthodow jews. About the Asia times website, I used to be a regular reader once but now am not. Over time, the last few months to the buildup of 2/nov, it seems like the place has gotten infested with anti-american ranters posing as serious analysts and total moonbats haunting the letters columns.
