JERUSALEM (CP) - A Gaza-born Canadian citizen pleaded guilty Wednesday to planning attacks on Israelis in North America and was sentenced by a military court to four years in prison, the Israeli army said.Jamal Akkal, 24, was arrested in Gaza on Nov. 1, 2003, and charged by the military with conspiracy to commit manslaughter. Prosecutors said Akkal planned to carry out attacks against Israeli officials travelling in the United States, as well as bombings against Jewish targets in North America.
Akkal had denied the charges, claiming a confession he gave was made under duress.
Under Wednesday's plea bargain, Akkal was found guilty of conspiracy to commit manslaughter and receiving paramilitary training, the army said. He was credited with time served since his arrest, and a second charge of receiving paramilitary training was dropped. Akkal, who was also fined 2,000 shekels (about $500 Cdn), had faced up to 21 years in prison, the army said.

The citizenship is merely one of convenience. Canada, unfortunately, gives citizenship far too conveniently to all and sundry. Jamal is a citizen of Islamia first and foremost. The Canadian part is only for him to use and abuse. As in welfare, medical treatment, legal help, consular & govt assistance, etc. And given Canada's record, he can expect all of the above, regardless of his true loyalty or what he really thinks of his fellow Canadians.
Do remember that citizenship in ANY country is one of convenience and that membership of the umma is the only one that matters. Muslims can undergo and transformation due to "a spiritual crisis," or fall victim to peer pressure, or be subtly taken along, only to go from "moderate" to extremist, from apostate to one that has something to prove upon returning to the fold.
Put your trust in these people at your peril...and mine.
I can assure you that the rise in attacks on the Jewish population and temples of worship has increased in proportion to the increase in Arabs and Palestinian Muslims enetering Canada.
CAIR is know for posting attacks on Jews as acts of "Vandalism" and yet when a Mosque was hit with a raw egg( http://www.caircan.ca/itn_more.php?id=A1051_0_2_0_M ) CAIR reacted as if the four horsemen of the apocalypse were seen and posted it as a "Hate-Crime".
Canada has a loophole for terrorists to get their citizenship,Palestinians can declare themselves as a "refugee" fleeing for their lives because of the Israeli occupation of their land and military attack on civilians. With no way of proving the Refugee actually was in danger,the
scam of using the refugee system to get citizenship and all social benefits during the wait has made a farce of Canada's trust in refugee's being legit and honest.
There have been many anti-Israel protests where the police have been spit on and forced to watch Israeli flags being burned along with US ones,the more educated Muslims are smart enough to use the term "Israel" to substitute for "The Jews" on the placards demanding justice in Palestine.
The big-lie being purpetuated to the media is that Palestine always existed and Israel stold the land they always lived on,ironically if they do get a Statehood it will default to a "Terrorist producing Country" and be sanctioned by the US and UN.
This Remeberance-Day was marred by a Palestinian Liberal politician allowing a Palestinian Org. to pay respect to Arafat by lowering their Canadian flag to half-mast along side the palestinian flag.
Arafat was not a Statesmen or National figure in Canada,it now looks like November 11th will be hijacked by the Arabs and Muslims as "Arafat-Day" and offuicially spit on the graves of out soldiers that fought to gives them the right to live in Canada and exalt a terrorist and theif that skimmed money from aid and funneled it to his wife.
Forgive me for asking here but did that actually say he was sentenced to 4 years sentenced to 4 years sentenced to 4 years, or did I miss anything between the lines?
When he is set free after time served will he not go right back to plotting mayhem?
And this is in Israel where a hard line stance has been made for years.

Four years is a rediculas sentence. This is a war, cultural-religious war but a war none the less and we have to get serious with these guys and play to win.
Some of the gitmo detainees have been released only to resume armed conflict against us in Afghanistan. The jihadist are fighting a generational war and thus should not be treated as common criminals. That is a flaw and underestimate on our part and gives confidence to the jihadist to continue on with their insane quest to oppresse the world. For the world is too foolish to deal with them effectively.
They organise to slaughter us by the thousands, we organise to detain them for four years. Who's gonna win that war of attrition?
We , the western world in general has to rethink how we are dealing with this war on terror.

This guy was attending the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada. That's the place to watch for all sorts of Muslim crimes. For example, in the same town, a Muslim cab driver was recently found dead, almost beheaded by a father and son Muslim team, in a dispute over a mosque.
