BERLIN - There is growing alarm in Germany over the torching of mosques, churches and schools in the Netherlands following the brutal killing of Islam-critical film director Theo van Gogh.With 3.4 million Muslims comprising 4 percent of Germany's population, the question was put this way by a banner headline in the conservative Bild newspaper: "Is the hate going to come here?" asked the biggest selling tabloid.
The Berliner Zeitung, a left-leaning paper in the German capital where about 200,000 mainly Turkish Muslims live, claims to know the answer: "The feelings of hatred against the majority Christian society are growing."
So far there has not been a high profile killing in Germany to match the stabbing and shooting of van Gogh. But a series of attacks on Jews in Berlin by Arab youths have sharply raised concerns.
Germany's tough-minded interior minister, Otto Schily, spoke at the weekend of "a danger" to the country despite successes in integrating the majority of immigrants.
Schily drew headlines earlier this year with a harsh warning to Islamic fundamentalists: "If you love death so much, then it can be yours."
German opposition conservatives are demanding a ban on preaching in mosques in any language other than German.
Calls for such a move were fuelled by a dramatic TV film secretly made last week in a Berlin mosque.
"These Germans, these atheists, these Europeans don't shave under their arms and their sweat collects under their hair with a revolting smell and they stink," said the preacher at the Mevlana Mosque in Berlin's Kreuzberg district, in the film made by Germany's ZDF public TV, adding: "Hell lives for the infidels! Down with all democracies and all democrats!"
There are also demands for loosening German laws to make it easier to expel foreign extremists after years of wrangles to win approval for deportation of radical Turkish Islamist, Metin Kaplan, the self- styled "Caliph of Cologne".
Udo Ulfkotte, a German journalist who has received death threats since writing a critical book on Islam titled "The War in our Cities," underlines that many of the group responsible for the 11 September 2001 attacks on the US had lived in Germany.
Asked about van Gogh's killing, Ulfkotte said: "The spark could jump over here at any time. We just need a provocation like in Holland. Islamists in Germany approved of (van Gogh's) murder and many of them actually cheered it."

You really don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. Read the Dulfier report. No huge caches of nukes were found in Iraq, but there were WMDs aplenty, like the 400 tons of plastic explosives stored at Al QaQaa, and there evidence aplenty that Saddam was just laying low, waiting for the opportunity to get things up and running. There was a terrorist training camp set up outside of Baghdad -- Salman Pak -- replete with the fuselage of a passenger jet. Al Qaeda bigshot Zawahiri was there in the late 1990s and receiving large quantities of money from Saddam. I could go on with linkages, but what do you more need for evidence of his sponsorship of international terror, not to mention the brutal way he treated Iraqi citizenry and his various wars of aggression.
What more do you need? A Letter of Intent between him and Osama to get it through your thick head that the Baathists and the various Jihadist organizations are quite adroit and willing to play the, "my enemy's enemy is my friend" when it appears to be in their interest?
There is no similarity whatsoever between anti-Semetism and the concerns raised here about the fascistic and bellicose nature of Islam as preached by many Muslim clerics and political leaders and carried out by their followers. Muslims constitute an enormous power group of their own that has turned the UN into an expensive sick joke that spends an enormous amount of its time passing resolutions condemning Israel as a racist state, etc. when the true racist states are Saudi Arabia and a few others, and providing cover for scum like Saddam to subvert the oil-for-food program so he can rebuild his war chest and starve his domestic opponents into submission at the same time.

A Letter of Intent between [Saddam] and Osama ..." it seems most interesting that in spite of the evidence, the leftwing mind provides itself the luxury of a disconnect in the al qaeda/iraq connectivity as well as understanding what we now know about the wmd programs/saddam strategy. however, with the mountains of paperwork regarding the oil-for-food scandal (the metaphorical equivalent of waterdragon's "letter of intent") the leftwingers are in some strange denial as to the diabolical nature of this scandal and what it reveals to us not only with regards to saddam, france, russia, and china; but also how it places the united nations squarely on the wrong side of the war

There's no point in responding to the paper thin arguments from fashion princesses like the writer above. He will always sniff out the cliches of his fellows to ensure that he's part of the in-crowd, a stunning poseur who deserves the accolades of his fellows. There's not a bit of concern for any Human in anything this man writes, not a care on Earth for any living being, only the right poses, the right cliches. If this person had any respect for himself, let alone for his readers, he'd master the rudimants of debate rather than simply hack away in the hopes that his readers are too stupid to see through his false charges and fallacies. The question arises whether the violence in the Netherlands will spread to Germany. The question, too, is whether, like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Moslem women will be threatened by their male population to the point that women will have to go into hiding to save their very lives. Will the Germans pander to the Islamic fascism in the same way the Dutch have done? Will German Moslem women live in ghettos of fear and violence while the German state ignores their plight for political reasons?
The question of the spread of anti-Islamic resistence is not a sign of racism or hatred, it is a clear sign of the reaction of decent men and women in the obvious face of primitive hatred and violence committed against the weak and poor. That the Dutch are finally and slowly beginning to resist the violence in their communities is a sigh that Human values are triumphant evcen in the face of post-Nazi philobarbarism. There's only so much lying and cheating that most people will tolerate before they take a stand against it. To pretend and make excuses is dirty at the start, but the time comes when people will no longer live with themselves in the face of it. It is clear, and has been clear, from the beginning that Islam is primitive fascism. The Dutch and others are not able any longer to look the other way or to mouth cliches of multi-culturalism and tolerance of diversity when bodies lie bleeding on the street and women are forced into hiding and maniacs throw hand grenades at the police. The time when the shame is too obvious, and it brings with it a rage at the abuse and manipulation that attended it. Of course the Dutch are disgusted, not simply with the violence of islam in their midst but with their silent aquiesence over the decades. Yes, as the taboos fall and the anger over the abuse is clearly articulated more and more people will come to the fore to vent their frustration, they having held back from fear of public ridicule, of slanders of racism, et cetera. When the rend in the social fabric starts, it will open entirely and out will spill the worst of Human behavior. Yes, one can easily imagine the force of the German nation unleashed against a parasitic, criminal, and violent underclass of easily indentifiable minorities. It's not something we should welcome, it is something we should prepare for. We should involve ourselves in the protection of Moslem women in Europe who are slaves of the slaves of Allah. Imagine the greif of seeing Moslem women mutilated in the streets of Germany the way the girl laid in the street in Baghdad. Let's begin now to temper ou responses to the coming torrents of anger against the Moslem community in Europe. By taking the moral high-ground now, the fight will become clear and righteous in our minds at the springtime of the exodus of Islam from Europe.
To support the Moslem females of the Netherlands from their culture and their male population is the good for all invloved. The violence will easily spread into Germany where the population is less restrained than in many other nations. Prepare now the template for action to come. Adorp Moslem women in Europe. Divide their community,and save those who can be saved.
The creature above reminds me of Father Karamazov who says: "I love Humanity. It's people I can't stand." Take up the cause of one Moslem woman in Europe, do your part to save her from the violence and slavery of her community. When the inevitable backlash against the Moslem encroachment comes, there will be individual people safe and secure and welcome to continue their lives better than before.
It's hopeless and stupid to think of saving Humanity. Those who try are truely cynics who don't care about people at all, only about the reaction of their friends to the cliches they use. ** You state that you are upset by the intolerance and hate around you. Of course, you must be referring to the intolerance and hatred of western culture/people by Muslims, both in their own countries and ours?
** The contempt for Islam felt by many people is in no way comparable to anti-Semitism. Anti-Semitism is racist nonsense, fuelled by envy and ignorance. Jews have never tried to force their beliefs on the rest of the world. Those who feel contempt and fear of Islam have good reason - eg, 99% of the worlds terrorists are Muslims ; Muslim 'clerics' continually preach hatred of the West and armed jihad against us ; several attacks on western countries by Islamic fanatics, cheered on and supported by many Muslims.
** Few people believe that every Muslim is dangerous or evil. But perhaps you have some magic way of telling the difference between a peaceful, 'moral' Muslim, and one who hates us and supports terrorism. As for many Muslims being more moral than we are, - I seriously doubt that anyone who follows a violent religious bigot like Mohammed, is superior in morality. As for being 'wanton haters' - I suggest you ask a Muslim his/her opinion of Jews. You will usually hear a hate-rant that makes the KKK sound tolerant.
** What on earth do you mean by 'possible dangers'??? Both Europe, the US and Australia have been subject to terorist attacks by the members of the same 'religion' you are defending. There are Muslims on trial right now here in Australia for plotting a terrorist attack on a nuclear reactor in Sydney. The only reason more attacks have not happened is that they were caught before they could do it. Do you ever hear the news? Did you know there have been thwarted attacks by Muslims in nearly every western country? And we are 'selfish' to defend ourselves or to be suspicious of Muslims?
** We are not 'crazy'. Did it never occur to you that people who follow a 'religion' of violence and bigotry may be 'crazy'? That people who believe Jews to be responsible for all the ills of the world many be 'crazy'?
** How do you intend to 'fight for us'? With words? With reason? How exactly do you intend to fight people who wish you and yours dead - unless you convert to 'The Religion of Peace', of course. THEN you get to be a second class citizen in some Muslim hellhole. Speak to some Christian refugees from Muslim countries and ask them why they left. Are you aware that Christian churches are illegal in most Muslim countries? Are you aware that religious minorities are being attacked and murdered all over the world by Muslim fanatics? And you're going to fix all that? Sorry, but I prefer to be defended by the US marines or our own army if and when the time comes. Force speaks louder than all the words in the world, especially when we are facing an enemy who regards fairness and mercy as a weakness.
