BEIRUT, Lebanon - Prominent Saudi religious scholars have called on Iraqis to support militants waging holy war against the U.S.-led coalition forces, saying fighting the occupation was a duty and a right.In an open letter to the Iraqi people and posted on the Internet Saturday, 26 Saudi scholars and religious preachers stressed that armed attacks launched by militant Iraqi groups on U.S. troops and their allies in Iraq were "legitimate" resistance.
The statement came as U.S. troops, backed by air and artillery power, were gearing up for a major assault on the militant stronghold of Fallujah.
The scholars — some of whom have been criticized in the past for their extremist views — issued a fatwa, or religious edict, prohibiting Iraqis from offering any support for military operations carried out by U.S. forces against militant strongholds.
"Fighting the occupiers is a duty for all those who are able. It is a jihad (holy war) to push back the assailants ...," said the letter. "Resistance is a legitimate right. A Muslim must not inflict harm on any resistance man or inform about them. Instead, they should be supported and protected."
Among the 26 scholars who signed the letter are influential Sunni Muslim clerics, Sheik Safar al-Hawali, Sheik Nasser al-Omar, Sheik Salman al-Awdah, Sheik Sharif Hatem al-Aouni and Sheik Awad al-Qarni.
Al-Hawali — jailed in the 1990s for five years without trial because of his criticism of U.S. involvement in the 1991 Gulf War — is known for his radical views and was once close to al-Qaida terror mastermind Osama bin Laden.
Like many Islamic extremists, al-Hawali also opposed the presence of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia. His name appeared this month on a list issued by a group of Arab intellectuals who seek prosecution of prominent clerics for encouraging terrorism.
The scholars said their appeal was prompted by "the extraordinary situation through which the Iraqis are passing which calls for unity and exchange of views."
The scholars said inter-Iraqi fighting would cause "great damage to the Iraqis and give a free service to the Jews who are infiltrating into Iraq and to the coalition forces which exploit differences to consolidate their domination."

We hear bombs are being detonated in the middle of crowded iraqi streets by "insurrgents", but other reports from other sources, equally as credible, say that foreign interests infiltrated Iraq after the fall of Baghdad and the removal of Saddam Hussein, and that these factions are committed to civil unrest in Iraq with the aim of totally destabilizing the country.
The self-interest of these factions is to remove threats of power from the region (Hussein was formerly a strong man in the region) and break up Iraq into smaller, more manageable pieces.
Back to the question about the Indians. Indians were relegated to reservations, they were not given a single state as Indian territories. Treaties made with them by successive governments were systematically broken as more and more of their land was appropriated.
My example remains: We would not given even a single state back to the Indians and let them have their independence (they are sovereign nations after all). This is dyslexic thinking and is not reality-based.

Many in the west already believe that to be the case now. But the western governments are going to have to make that proclamation and ban it as a legitiment religion. Every Mosque would be torn down. Islam would be unlawful to teach in Muslim schools and Muslim/Islamic clothing would be unlawful to wear in public. Anyone wanting to practice Islam would be free to leave their host country and return to their ancestral country of origin.

This business of the "Jews who are infiltrating into Iraq" is funny for Westerners, but American soldiers who have returned, and with whom I have talked at legnth, tell me that the idea among Arabs in Iraq that the American soldiers are "Jews" (all of them) is widespread. But all sorts of rumors, crazy stories, wierd assignment of guilt, false victimization, "at your feet or at your throat" behavior, from Arabs and Muslims, has long been a force in Iraqi (and not only Iraqi) life, this dreamy misapprehension is hardly surprising -- and the American soldiers have had such a dose of all of this, and much graver nonsense, and personal whining and viciousness and treachery from the Iraqis who "have the same yearning we all do for democracy" and "are our friends" and "fill in whatever ridiculous phrase you want to here," that nothing any longer would surprise them.

We need to seriously put together a 'Mahattan Project' type of thing for successful alternative energy. I don't mean opening up ANWR to oil development. I mean a real alternative that could work for personal transportation and energy. This will take great commitment and sacrifice, but it would be worth it. In the ranking of deductive reasoners, the "deducers" at the type of the hierarchy should be the most open-minded reasoners, able to adjust perceptions based on new facts, and at the bottom, those more affected by extraneous information, such as cohort biases.

As you are clearly an expert in both psychoanalytical techniques and Islamic teachings, I would be grateful if you would therefore compose an irrefutable argument based on the Qur'an, the Hadiths and the Sira to convince those who are described in Western media as "Islamic fundamentalists" to lay down their arms, and instead engage in meaningful dialogue to end the bloodshed that we are shown daily on the evening news.
After you have composed this argument (of which I am sure you will have do difficulty in doing), please send it to Dr Elmasry, Yusuf Al Qaradawi and any other Islamic teachers whom you think appropriate to show them the true path that the followers of Islam must be taking. And when finally the inevitable happens, that is when all in the Islamic world embrace your wisdom and vision, I for one will praise you for making the world a better place.
If however, you feel you cannot do so, or you do not wish to do so, then please explain to me why. Otherwise I wait with avid anticipation for the headline in Jihadwatch in the near future of "Hatshepsut ensures world peace". And I would be very happy to see that, I can assure you.

I am of the opinion that islam is evil and that muslims have been lied to. The serpent (devil) comes but to kill, steal and destroy. Allah has bragged about being a good trickster. The masses go to their doom by believing in false doctrine. Remember there is a lot of clay but only a little bit of gold. In the meantime, we need to fight islam and muslims on every front, spiritual and militarily.
