Turkish FM rules out Cyprus recognition, special EU status

Who is calling the shots here? It looks from this article as if Turkey is not hesitating to dictate terms to the EU. From the AFP, with thanks to Ali Dashti:

ANKARA, Nov 18 (AFP) - Turkey does not intend to recognize European Union member Cyprus, despite veiled threats by Nicosia to veto Ankara's bid to join the bloc, Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said in an interview published Thursday.

Gul also warned EU leaders, who will decide on December 17 whether to start accession talks with Turkey, that Ankara will reject any proposals other than full membership in the European bloc.

Turkey's arrogance might get it barred from EU permanently. Let's hope so.

This Turkey is feral.

Apparently, the Turks don't know that beggars can't be choosers.

Now, I'd like to see all those who always want to protect the weak and the small: all the green and left politicians in Europe who like to love Arabs and Muslims 'cause they regard them as victims of Western imperialism; those protectors of the marginalized who always take the side of the occupied and the unrecognized, who love Arafat and Chechen mujahideens because they fight the Big Bad Occupying Powers of Jews and Russians, and who also love the Turks, because they're Muslim and they're poor -- I'd like to see these dogooders express some solidarity with the small and marginalized and occupied country of Cyprus and do something to make their own countries join the veto threat against Turkey.

For some reason, I don't expect to hear much about those good people this time. After all, it's about some Christians, thus Western imperialists, so why bother to offend the poor and marginalized Turkey for their sake?

Asked whether Ankara might recognize Papadopoulos' government, Gul told the conservative daily Zaman: "No, no. We have already done our part in a very courageous manner."

Just like they "courageously" fail to recognize their responsibility for the Armenian Genocide. What do the Turks recognize?
Perhaps this:
"We'll take your money, and you'll take our poor, huddled masses."

This Turkey should NOT be pardoned.

With approximately 15 million Moslems living in Europe today, Islam has become the second largest religious minority, and expected to continue to exponentially grow. If Turkey is admitted to the EU, it bring its 63 million Moslems and brings the Islamic total from 3% to almost 20%.
The daunting challenges the future holds.

Bar-
Won't EU membership break down barriers that will enable a flood of Turkish immigrants into Europe?

Mike, Yes it would!

Thats only if they let Turkey into the EU.

What will Turkey do if they are continually rejected full membership?

Following WW2 Turkey joined all the main Western institutions : UN, IMF, OECD, NATO, COE. Turkeys application for full membership in 1987 was ahead of Austria, Finland, Sweden and Norway ( Whose applications have been accepted ).

Let look at the worst case scenario.

If Turkey does join the EU, then when all those muslims flood into the EU, civil war might break out, just like it is on the verge of doing so with Holland.

If that happens, then we will win, because we must win.

Europe will not fall. I would leave Australia to fight against Islam in Europe, and so would many others.
