BRUSSELS – The Belgian state is to fund the wages of 245 imams in a bid to end discrimination against the Islamic faith.Although Islam has been recognised as an official religion in Belgium for the last 30 years, it hasn’t been given the perks of other beliefs.
On Thursday, the federal parliament voted to grant EUR 4.83 million in 2005 to pay for imams in around 100 mosques....
The funding is a significant financial boost for Belgium’s mosques. Last year, Islam was granted just 0.5 percent of the overall religious budget, with EUR 1.27 million. The Catholic Church was given 88 percent of the cake, almost EUR 202 million.
Next year, some churches will not receive funding for assistant curates, a decision made partly because there is a shortage of curates.
Does the Belgian government also pay the salaries of ministers, rabbis, priests and religious, and those of non-Christian faith, animists, Wiccans, etc.
If they are ONLY paying the salaries of Muslim imams, they are discriminating against the others and paying the jizya!

Is there perhaps a contest for the European country that can exhibit the greatest idiocy in any calendar year? There are so many candidates, and they are all so well-qualified, that it is going to be hard to choose. Perhaps there should be a monthly award instead. It might make things easier. If you feel you are unfairly passed over in any particular month, just wait until the next month, and do something even more stupid than what earned the the previous monthly winner his recognition. Eventually, if you keep it up, your feat will be recognized.

I think that there'll have to be a weekly award. There are so many candidates.
Its not as simple as that.
A) Catholic ministers are payed, the church is financed, so is their schooling.
That happened because of historical context.
Even though the goverment claims not the have enough money, it does waste money by paying wages of other religions.
This country is a complex one, its on the verge of collapse. There are 3 sides to this story. One side Flanders, where there is a growing demand for independance and on the other side the Walloon (French speaking population). As third side you have Islamic immigrants, who will become a majority by 2040 with the current demographic trends and they dont ask things they demand.
On top of that there is a bidding contest for mostly Islamic immigrant votes. These are heavily contested for by the liberal and socialist parties on both sides (Flemish and Walloon). Most of those immigrants are French speaking, and thus support the existance of Belgium, with an outspoken tone against Flemish independance.
This has been normal since quite a while, to add on that its being fielded for usage against the party Vlaams Belang.
Its quite repulsive that our own media doesnt report it. According to a poll, deemed "acceptable" (1000 ppl questioned, age range starting from 15) 43% of the Flemish population regards Islam as a threat.
They're willing partners for dhimmitude, in order for them to keep their own power-position or to enforce their ideology.
Basically, they're blind because they need the votes. On the other side, they're wondering how come the Vlaams Blok/Belang continues to gain.
The same dhimmitude attitude has forced them, together with "Socialist and Ecologist ideology" to change sufficient laws to try and ban that party. They demonise it, they found a court willing to find it guilty on inciting hate, they supress as many articles that suits the VB as they can, people who support their organisation are fired. But, like I said, its all turning against them, since there is a growing awareness...although not big enough.
This is the first time I've seen a marked victim pay his own executioner. I guess advance payment is the only option in this Kafkaesque scenario.
Europe has worked tirelessly for fifty years to become secular, socialist, hedonistic and multiculturalist. Europeans abandoned the oppressive constraints of religion and its shameful history, and created an egalitarian, secular, heaven-on- earth governed by moral relativity and peace at any cost.

The socialist politicians need the muslim votes and therefore they are willing to sacrifice their countries....
They need all the votes they can get,just to stay in power. But aren`t they capable of looking into the future,to realize that all those muslim votes,in the end will be meanningless??!!
When the muslims will have enough power,the socialist politicians will be the first they will turn against.

State funding, if it comes with strings attached, may be a a good thing actually.
For one, wahabi funds get crowded out or at least officially barred.
Two, requirements like every sermon be made in the local european language can be better enforced.
The above 2 are btw what I call the singapore model of containing jihadism by never allowing those seeds to germinate in the first place.
Three, you get some influence in deciding who can and more importantly who cannot be imam.

There is no string attached to it.
Albeit that under the pressure of the murder of Van Gogh Imams are more willing to switch to the local language.
However nothing is forced by law, they're still using their own lanuage, but on the regional level there is a starting pressure and move to train local muslims to become Imams (instead of foreigners) and to teach them the local language.
On top of that, there is no supervision, neither is anything stopping them of gathering in private on appartments or so.

There's a Muslim council, which works as a system between the Islamic community and the goverment, unfortunably for them most of the ppl in the council are french-speaking (therefor they have none to little credibility in Flanders, Flemish/Dutch speaking), on top of that it is said to contain a nice bunch of radicals.

Hate much? Islam is about peace ( ever hear the word, 'Salaam'? look it up ) . 'Satanic' - worshipping Satan, again shows you don't know what you are talking about ( i.e. in Islaam, God is worshipped and Satan is despised ). 'Intolerant' - the prophet Mohammed commanded the Muslims to respect the religion of the Jews and the Christians, as Islam holds all three worship the same God.
Most of the posts in these threads are very threatrical and spin facts in the way critical is Islam. This is even worse with evidence that you haven't researched about the item you are criticizing! My general attitude is every has the right to voice their opinion, especially if it disagrees with my own ( having only one opinion to choose from is boring ), but please do your homework before posting.
