WASHINGTON — A new government intelligence bulletin describes in the greatest detail yet Al Qaeda's techniques for assessing potential targets, extolling the lethal power of flying, shattered building glass and advising that kerosene and tires are effective for a deadly arson attack."The focus is on maximizing the destructive and killing power of an attack," the bulletin says.
The bulletin provides a fresh glimpse of terrorist reports found in computers and disks seized in Pakistan in July. The reports described the casing by terrorists of several buildings in the United States and prompted U.S. authorities to raise the terror threat level earlier this year for high-profile financial facilities in New York, Washington and Newark, N.J.
The heightened alert was eased shortly after the Nov. 2 election, and there is no evidence a potential attack ever moved beyond initial planning.
"Current intelligence provides no indications that Al Qaeda has operatives to conduct an attack based upon the information in these reports," the eight-page bulletin said.
Produced by the FBI and Homeland Security Department, the bulletin was circulated Tuesday to law enforcement, government and industry officials nationwide and obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press.
The excerpts, according to the bulletin, show that Al Qaeda operatives go well beyond basic description of a potential target to sophisticated analysis of vulnerabilities in building construction, an examination of potential police and emergency response and recommendations for possible methods of attack.
In one report, an unidentified Al Qaeda operative notes that a building "is almost completely made to resemble a glass house — which could be devastating in an emergency scenario ... that is to say, that when shattered, each piece of glass becomes a potential flying piece of cutthroat shrapnel!"
Hard to believe that someone could write that and think he was acting in the service of the Creator of Heaven and Earth, but there it is.
Who in the world could call these people "freedom fighters"???

Isn't that like saying, "Don't be alarmed...although there have been 35 women raped and murdered in our city, there's no evidence indicating that the killer actually lives in our city?" Soon followed by neighbors and co-workers' comments in same city, "I had no idea. He was a quiet, kind, cheerful, and friendly man, it's hard to believe he's the killer."
Why do they refuse to face the reality of the situation? On the one hand, they acknowledge there are Islamic terrorists and they are planning attacks...on the other hand, they deny that there are Muslims in the U.S. who could/would carry out such an attack?? Yet, it seems, every week we learn of another Muslim being charged or facing deportation because of their terrorist supporting activities.
No one should be surprised by the fact that modern-day jihadis are adapting today's technology. Mohammad and the Koran mandate that that they kill "all that fight against the Muslims." They will use any means possible to kill as many of us as possible because we refuse to submit and be subdued.
Islam was born by men wielding swords, the technology of that day, and was spread using the military technologies of subsequent centuries, often by capturing and pressing proficient military technicians into service, giving them the option of a slow, painful death for them and their families, or military service under Islam.
Today's jihadis are different only in their extreme nihilism. They are among those that actually will cut off our heads and their own for the sake of Allah. After all, they "will attain Paradise and their 72 'virgins' " by successfully killing Infidels.

What they should be doing with this 8-page bulletin is to take select quotes and post them wherever and whenever where people will read them. We must know the enemy, confront the enemy, and then destroy the enemy. No war has ever been won by sticking your head in the sand. These guys (al-Qaida) are deadly serious about their murderous ideology and we must be as equally sober and serious minded if there is to be victory over islamic inspired terror. I saw your message also; I'm all too familiar with that type of "day" but I always keep in mind that whatever we post here is often copied to islamic boards worldwide. Therefore our outward show of resolve must never weaken; as I said, we must focus on the continued awakening, enlightenment and encouragement of our fellow anti-jihadists, and NEVER publicly "gladden the heart of the ummah" with expressions of despair or defeatism. Rage, yes; contempt, yes; frustration, of course; but since the outcome is NEVER in doubt, we must keep that in the forefront of our thoughts while venting.
