Haze Motes, call your office. The latest from "moderate" Malaysia, from AsiaNews, with thanks to Ali Dashti:
Kuala Lumpur (AsiaNews/Agencies) – The Malaysian government has decided that the public celebration of Christmas on December 25 in the presence of King Syed Sirajuddin and Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi will be done without any reference to Jesus in order to “protect Muslim sensibilities”: no biblical reference will be allowed, nor will any representation of the Nativity scene. For O.C. Lim, an outspoken Kuala Lumpur priest, it “is outrageous, scandalous and sacrilegious”.About 50,000 local residents and tourists are expected to attend the national Christmas celebration at Petaling Jaya, near the capital Kuala Lumpur, an event which the Malaysian government and the Christian Council of Malaysia are promoting as a mega ‘Christmas party’. The Council, an umbrella organisation for the country’s Christian Churches, said it would go along with the informal request made by officials not to sing hymns and carols that overtly mention or praise Jesus at the party on Christmas night.
Officials said that the request was made by ‘moderate Muslims’ concerned that “Muslim clerics might exploit the situation and raise the fundamentalist ire”.

"Christmas without Jesus in Malaysia"
The christians in Malaysia are being told to do that so as not to offend fundi muslims heh?
Great!!! In future Ramadan in Malaysia will be celebrated without Mohammad so as to not offend a christian who might attack poor oppressed muslims with christmas carols.
Christian: "Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little lord (he who is exterminated from all recognition during christmas on order of the Malaysian Government and the faithfull of Allah) laid down his sweet head."
Yep....definately isn't as catchy as the original.
obl - well said! The adapted lyrics are NOT as catchy at all!
Where, for heavens sake, are the leaders of the faithful?? It's becoming painfully obvious that the vatican is crumbling from lack of support of it's brethren, as well as from the weakness from within because of the dhimmi policy of the pope's advisors.
Christians have not dictated acceptable dogma to Islam . . .yet.
The tide is a'changin . . .
This isn't any different from the way the intolerant Left tries to abolish Christmas from our own societies. Once again, the Left and Islam -- sympatico!
As for the "moderate" Muslims who are only supposedly considering the Christians' safety -- bullshit. The more you give in to bullies, the more they want.
"Many have wondered what deep dark secret lurked behind the slick facade of Internet Haganah.
Now, and for the first time, all is revealed"

To my fellow anti-jihadis....Just a reminder to make sure that when and wherever you see a Muslim, wish them a Merry Christmas, and tell them Jesus loves them too.......
Wait a minute - am I missing something here? I thought Jesus ("Issa") was supposed to be a Muslim prophet. So why all the nonsense from Muslims about "offending their sensibilities"?
Well, for the strictest of Muslims, it's forbidden to celebrate or even acknowledge any other "feast day" except the two Eids.
Islam also forbids other religions to make "displays" of their belief publicly. Only Muslims can do that under Islamic law.
MERRYCHRISTMAS MERRYCHRISTMAS MERRYCHRISTMAS to all and to all a good night!
In response to JustaMom.... I'm not exactly sure where the Christian leaders are right now; however, we must remember how the few that came out and declared Islam a wicked cult (which it is) were chastised, dhimmitized and silenced. It will take another attack on this great country (USA) and at that time, the general populace will rise up and deal with those who wish to destroy our culture, heritage, traditions, values, and our freedom. At that time the politicians will have no choice but to step to the side. Arab muslims and muslims in general underestimate American resolve. Fool us once, shame on us... try to fool us twice, shame on YOU.
Poor osama.... he was right when he said that "many are studying islam" after 9/11. Now that this curious cult comes to the forefront, all who look will be repulsed by what they find... if they take the time to look. So, thanks osama.... I used to be a dumb Christian that thought that Mohammed was nothing more than the Jesus of the Arabs... wow, was I wrong. And I take every single chance I get to enlighten others.
Muslims shouldn't worry about our politicians... they should worry about our populace and what will happen to this country's muslims if they choose to make the same mistake twice.
Just Linda.
Just Linda: I'm afraid you have the saying exactly backwards. It's "Fool me once, shame on thee; fool me twice, shame on me."
In other words, if we get sucker-punched by the Islamofascists a second time, it'll be our own fault.
To Cato the Elder:
I will accept your rebuke. But, let's put this post into perspective.
After the first attack on the WTC, upon whom would you lay shame? The US? or the terrorists who successfully carried out the heinous act that killed 7 Americans and wounded over 1000?
After the second attack on the WTC (only) on 9/11, upon whom would you lay shame? The US? or the terrorists who successfully carried out the heinous act that killed over 3000 innocent Americans and others?
I'm not one to argue and you must please excuse me if I fail to succumb to old rhythms and rhymes. The world is changing with each and every beat of our hearts and the rhythms and rhymes of old are but a faint memory. So very, very sad that we can no longer hear those old Rhythms and Rhymes.. This world is what it is. Part of the shame of this world rests with islam and its intolerant nature. Watch and see.
Best regards,
Just Linda
Don't expect anything from this Pope.
The pictures of him kissing that dirty book! Aaaaaaggghhh!!!???
(Qu'ran) - I just can't get over that.
Let's see it one more time!
This imbroglio in malaysia proves one thing beyond a shadow of a doubt: ISLAM IS IN NO WAY SHPAPE OR FORM A JUDEO-CHRISTIAN RELIGION.
If Islam had any Judeo-Christian elements in it at all, Jesus would not and COULD NOT be "off-limits."
Islam therefore has to be a DECEPTION. But what type of deception? What the heck IS Islam anyway? A religion tells us nothing, actually.
A mosque was excavated at Hazor, Palestine that is at least 3000 years old. It contained iconography of al-lah with crescent moons on their chests, scriptures with references to the harvest moon, etc. Al-lah is the Arabian "moon-god." Not the Judeo-Christian deity Yahweh. So Mohammed is not the founder of Islam as commonly believed but wrongly believed. Islam is deception of the outsiders and apparently the insiders too.
Mohammed later plagiarized from the Torah and Bible BUT SWITCHED the God from Yahweh to 'al-lah.' Permitting him to distort Judeo-Christian teachings to the violent ones prevalent throughout the Middle East at that time (and foe millennia before it would appear). More deceptions.
Islam originates NOT from Abraham as the Arabs prevaricate. Islam originiates from the ancient human sacrifice cults of the Middle East. That is where its scruptural violence emanates. Certainly Islam's scriptural violence does not mesh with 'Thou Shalt not Kill." Or the many other teachings of Yahweh. And what would a human sacrifice sect do to people to who believe that the real maker of the unverse prohibits unnecessary slaughter of human beings? It would react violently, irrationally, and probably invent a false religious pretext to turn its developed lust for killing onto those who believe that killing is forbidden by the real maker of the universe. Such a sect or pseudo-civilization would probably raise armies to slaughter those who do not believe in murder and atttempt to eliminate them so that it could continue its practice of human sacrifice to its self-manufactured deities in peace.
That would pretty near describe the true nature of Islam, would it not?
Thank you, Prime minister Badawi for proving my instinct that Islam is a reconfigured human sacrifice cult from the Middle East's dark past is correct!
Allah is a trickster, is he not? He is!
Pythagoras, no "mosque" 3,000 years old was ever excavated anywhere. It's only the year 1480+of the Islamic era. Some sort of Canaanite temple, yes; a mosque, definitely not. As for moon gods/goddesses, they're common in pagan religions.
Also, pagan Byzantium honored the crescent moon and morning star because these awakened sentries who saved the city from an attacker. The symbols were taken over by the Christian East Roman Empire; and did not become the symbol of Islam until the Turkish conquest of Constnatinople.
The idea that another major jihad attack will finally call the west to action is one I doubt.
Part of Jihad Dhimmi is the obvious use of political correctness to its advantage. And even more sinister is the desensitisation to terrorism.
An Australian person said to me "Saddam is a victim".... Also here in Australia the night we all sat watching the Trade Towers fall on TV some one commented, "about time the USA copped it, hahaha " Why is Australia not in an uproar over the lax treatment of the Bali Bombers?
Sept 11 smashed the Jihad to the publics awareness, and still these "Western self-hating" opinions remain.
In Australia, and I assume the most of the West, it is the “educated” intellectuals who prescribe the current enlightened ethics of the day, i.e. political correctness, the clergy of the Atheists and Modernists.
Australian cities are falling into Dhimmitude, Xmas is banned in various suburbs. It is (and has been for years) a brave walk, as a woman, in your Aussie shorts and T-shirt through a muslim suburb.
PS MERRY XMAS and JESUS PUBLIC HOLIDAY
PSS.
The survey mentioned in the second half of the interveiw is terrifying when we consider Indonesias population and close proximity to our shores.
Religious leaders meet in Java to address terrorism
AM - Monday, 6 December , 2004 08:05:00
Reporter: Tim Palmer
TONY EASTLEY: In central Java today, one of the more unusual meetings for the year.
The gathering, co-hosted by Australia's and Indonesia's foreign ministers brings together 14 religious leaders to sponsor peace and cooperation in our region.
Archbishop of Sydney George Pell will be there, so too leading lights in the Buddhist and Muslim communities from overseas, all in the hope that the voices of moderation will drown out religious radicalism.
But in the host country the conventional belief that Indonesian Islam is a particularly tolerant and moderate form is being challenged by a new survey showing sympathy for the murderous activity of bombers like Imam Samudra, and intolerance for other religions, as well as some anti-Australian feeling.
Indonesia Correspondent Tim Palmer.
TIM PALMER: When Alexander Downer today opens a summit of regional religious leaders in the central Java city of Yogyakarta, it will be he says part of a hearts and minds campaign to see moderates of different faiths help address the problems of extremism and religious violence.
The Australian and the Indonesian governments have insisted that despite the Bali, Marriott and Australian Embassy bombings, the radicals like Imam Samudra, Amrozi and Azahari have little support among Indonesian Muslims. But the latest research on attitudes of Indonesian Muslims suggests a far greater acceptance of the extremists than previously thought.
Researcher Saiful Mujani of Jakarta's Freedom Institute now believes Indonesia's Muslims are less moderate than governments and academics suggest.
SAIFUL MUJANI: The rhetoric claiming that there is no problem in the society…
TIM PALMER: It's wrong?
SAIFUL MUJANI: To me that's too simplistic, that's wishful thinking.
TIM PALMER: The Freedom Institute's survey of 1400 people across Indonesia, found that less than 60 per cent of Muslims disagreed with Imam Samudra and Dr Azahari's bombing campaigns, 16 per cent, representing tens of millions of Indonesians, agreed with the bombers and another 25 per cent refused to disagree.
SAIFUL MUJANI: There is a significant number of Indonesian Muslims, at least half, do not have a negative reaction to that and they agree with silence at least or maybe they protect this kind of activity.
TIM PALMER: The survey also found that the 40 per cent who’d heard of Jemaah Islamiah, a third of them supported the extremist group, 25 per cent wanted Christian teachers banned in state schools, 40 per cent want the chopping off of hands included in the justice system. The motivation spelt out in the surveys suggests American foreign policy, particularly in Iraq and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, is feeding the numbers supporting radicalism.
Details of the negative attitudes to America and Australia revealed in the survey have been held back by the US Embassy in Jakarta, which funded the poll. But those figures reveal negative sentiment towards Australia.
SAIFUL MUJANI: When Australia has more positive attitude to American foreign policy – that's I think why the Islam activists also have negative sentiment to Australia. Yeah, it's negative, even though it's not that strong compared to America, but it's negative.
TIM PALMER: All of which may suggest that Alexander Downer's policy decisions may speak much more loudly to Indonesian society than the inter-faith dialogue he’ll open shortly.
In Yogyakarta, this is Tim Palmer for AM.
While the Dutch ruled the East Indies, the intelligent policies (some proposed by the Orientalist Snouck Hurgronje)managed to hold Islam at bay, and allowed the development of a Christian population, and the protection of Hindus and Buddhists. It has been almost 60 years since the Dutch left, and Islam has not been softened or "indonesianized" in the slightest, and Indonesian Muslims are becoming harsher and more menacing, toward non-Muslims, with each passing day.
Those who think that somehow Islam can be "europeanized" because if it comes to dominate in Europe it will have done so not through outright military conquest, but through Da'wa and demography, should look at Indonesia. There Islam also came to dominate, but through Da'wa and demography rather than through outright military conquest. Does the kind of Islam one finds in Indonesia, or the treatment which non-Muslims (Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Confucians) have had to endure over the past several decades, give one hope for the future of Europe? Or despair?
One more thing.
If one clicks on "Haze [sic] Motes" as directed, one comes upon a website that refers, inaccurately and less appositely for the present occasion, to "the Church without Christ." In "Wise Blood" Hazel Motes decides to found the "Church of Christ Without Christ." That O'Connor-giveth-and-O'Connor-taketh-away in the same phrase is important, and certainly is what the JIhadwatch reader needs to know if he is to feel, as he should, the aptness of your underlined allusion.
The fault is with the Literary Encyclopedia, Inc. which did not check the details. But without the details, what is there?
