An Iranian mullah judiciary official today denied reports that a young woman, who has been sentenced to death for prostitution, is mentally disabled.Leila Mafi, 21, was sentenced more than a year ago by a court in Arak, central Iran, for having illegal sex. The death verdict is now being reviewed by the Supreme Court, Mohammad Hossein Pourianmehr said today.
Hanging is the usual form of execution in Iran's mullahs regime.
Iran - Land of MullahsLeila's case had been little noted in her country but was brought to world attention last week by London-based Amnesty International. The human rights watchdog said she was 19 with the mental capacity of an eight-year-old.
Pourianmehr said Leila was in full mental and physical health and had confessed. he said she was 19 when she was arrested, which may account for the age given by Amnesty.

FYI, Moe, the poor young woman was forced into prostition by her impoverished mother -- that was the illicit sex. No mention of any punishment being meted out to the men who availed themselves of her services, though.

Darabi is a leading member of Iranian Workers Communist party. While the quotes may be correct, one should always check for more the references or at least take them with caution.

Personally, if I can't find another source besides Dr. Homa Darabi's, I will consider the quotes she attributes to Khomeini to be spurious.
That is not to say that I accept or approve of the Grand Ayatollah in any way though.
Of course, no mention of the man involved here. I find the whole thing appaling. I do not know what we can do, here.
