Damascus - More than 1,500 members of an Iraqi Christian group have gone to northern Iraq to try to protect Christians following attacks on churches in Baghdad and Mosul, the leader of the group said pm Saturday.In an interview, Yonadem Kana, the leader of the Assyrian Democratic Movement in Iraq and a member of the Iraqi National Council, said the fighters have been deployed in Baghdida near the northern city of Mosul.
"We do not want to transform our movement into a militia," he said. "But if needed, we can arm more than 10,000 people."

Our greatest weapon against PC-looniness is this vague something called "survival instinct"....
Like Ayn rand says "Honesty is a very hard thing to kill completely" (or something to that effect), so once people become honest about wanting to live, things start to shakeup a li'l bit.
No argument of PC correctness, media spin or indignant allegations of islamophobia/ racism / bigotry /witchhunting etc can then stop what the survival-threatened must do in self-defence. This is precisely what I'm banking on will pull the west out of the increasingly deeper hole we dig ourselves into.
Besides this may also signal the revivial of the christian fighting spirit of old, now extinct everywhere except in the "jesusland" parts of America.

I take your point to an extent, but do you not think that this will simply increase the violence. There are a number of points here:
1) These people will not have the protection or the firepower that the US soldiers do. They will become additional targets, and probably easy ones to RPGs.
2) They may accidently be targetted by US forces.
3) It increases the number of people with guns on the street. What happens for example when this "illegal" armed force mows down several childrens? Will they be up on a murder charge?
We need to think about this a bit? On the whole if their very survival depends on it then they may have to take arms....I don't disgree with this...but what links do they have with the occupier forces. I hope they liase with the government forces/police and add to the security but not increase the problems.
Too many innocents, (mostly) muslims have already been killed, lets not add to that!
I think a christian militia should be used as much as possible to protect non-muslims in that country with the full support/supervision of the US. Atleast they are extremely unlikely to turn on the American troops, and potentially they could be great allies in pacifing certain non-muslim areas of Iraq. Frankly the only thing stopping the christians being wiped out is that the humanist american troops are there with guns of their own.
Power comes from the barrel of a gun and the christians of Iraq need some power of their own for a change. They are not going around Iraq butchering people so I think they have earned the right more than anyone else in that country.

The people in south Sudan obtained peace (granted uneasy) from the government in Khartoum by force of arms. It's interesting that once the target became hardened and able to fight back, the bastards in charge changed focus to the Dafur region - Christians and animists in the south simply became too dangerous a foe for the "oh so brave" muslim warriors to face.
The same will undoubtedly be necessary for the Christians in Iraq, since the Sharia-wielding bastards there don't like to face an armed opponent either - note how often remote control bombs are used to obtain casualty numbers for the terrorists in Iraq.
Naseem - as far as your points raised, the first one is, to some degree, already answered by the Sudanese - their firepower didn't match that of the government, yet they fought successfully against them. the second is a valid concern, and they must gain some form of understanding from the U.S. forces. The third is absolutely ludicrous, given the propensity of MUSLIM's to kill innocent muslims with car bombs and the like. Tell THEM to stop killing innocents.

I do it whenever I stumble onto one of their chats (MuslimsWakeUp!, muslimaccess, etc.) and I pose such p.c.-sounding queries as you recommend. It leaves them flipping through their formulaic 'think-not-for-yourself' reply dogmas. Trying to come up with something simplisitic that will 'turn the questions back' upon the evils of The West, Christianity during the Inquisition, the genocide of the Amerinds, etc. (All gotten down pat by the pro-Leninist press already in the 1920's and perfected by the end of Stalin.)
But worth the effort to throw them something other than the cyber-nodding of their their fawning yes-men (and women) or mere vitriolic "You Muslims are all just crazy and evil." ineffectual knee-jerk anger.
Judo is the way.
Use their own strength/inertia to overthrow them.

The Defense of the Realm
Dr. Ian Stephen "an Honorary Lecturer (Forensic Psychology) at Glasgow Caledonian University" and "a consultant to forensic psychology television series Cracker" gave some advice to British householders on the appropriate way to handle a home invasion. The advice was given in response to heightened public fears caused by the murder of British financier John Monckton. Burglars tricked him into opening his door by impersonating mailmen. He was killed in the hallway of his multimillion-dollar home. His wife, Viscountess Monckton of Brenchley, was stabbed so hard her ribs were broken. Dr. Stephen begins by sadly and regretfully observing that in the UK
if you attack the burglar, or react in an "over the top" manner, as was recently illustrated in the case of Tony Martin who shot intruders in his Norfolk farmhouse, you will inevitably end up on the receiving end of a prison sentence that will far outstrip that imposed on the intruder in your own home.
That being the unfortunate case the Briton is advised to make the best of a bad situation by acting in the following way.
When individuals are confronted by intruders there are some actions they should follow. Direct contact should be avoided whenever possible. If unavoidable, the victim should adopt a state of active passivity. In most cases the best form of defence is always avoidance. If this isn’t possible, act passively, be careful what you say or do and give up valuables without a struggle. This allows the victim to take charge of the situation, without the intruder’s awareness, through subtle and non-confrontational means. People can cooperate but initiate nothing. By doing nothing there is no chance of inadvertently initiating violence by saying something such as "Please don’t hurt me".
"Cooperate but initiate nothing". We will return to that phrase in a moment, but first we must continue with Dr. Stephen's cautionary advice. He says it is important not to affront or startle the burglar in any way, not simply out of a regard for their feelings, for whose hurt the householder may liable, but to avoid arousing an aggression which it is expressly forbidden to resist.
Sometimes the perpetrator of a burglary is even more terrified than the victim and in many cases when things go wrong it is the perpetrator of the crime who panics. Although they sometimes go equipped with weapons, in most cases they probably don’t intend to use them but in the heat of the moment, and the fear of either getting caught or attacked themselves, they use them. They don’t expect the person they are trying to hold up to retaliate or react. Mostly the knife is there simply for intimidation rather than intent to use it and they finish up killing somebody by accident rather than design.
If you are stabbed or shot it is your fault, as the Moncktons learned to their cost. You are advised to simply stand there, eyes fastened on the floor as if nothing were happening in the hope that you will not be noticed. I was going to say that Dr. Stephen's rueful advice sounded suspiciously like Kofi Annan's. Take no unilateral action; await help from someone with legitimacy; above all do nothing that will stir the 'cycle of violence' -- until I realized that that scene Dr. Stephen was describing -- "cooperate but initiate nothing" -- had already been depicted sixty years ago by a British author.
He sat as still as he could on the narrow bench, with his hands crossed on his knee. He had already learned to sit still. If you made unexpected movements they yelled at you from the telescreen. ... It might be two or three hours ago that they had brought him here. ... Sometimes he tried to calculate the number of porcelain bricks in the walls of the cell. The author of that scene, George Orwell, said "if you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face -- forever." He forgot to add one thing: you will polish the boot.
re: naseem's patterns -- I haven't noted the cycles vis a vis days of the week, but there were a couple of posts a few days ago (I think), that actually contained historic perspectives. they were so different from her usual posts that Gary offered an acknowledgement. In my earlier post I did not intend to change the subject. I merely thought that the Belmont Club article could well be applied to the Iraqi Christians who seem to have a choice of submission or resistance. I am glad that they seem to be choosing resistance because I believe that no one should have to stand by while their lives and possessions are threatened. If they choose the path of submission in such a hostile environmnent, I could imagine a time when resistance is considered to be more illegal than the perpetration of oppression. Much of the PC Western world has fallen into this trap. I hope now that the pendulum will beging to swing the opposite direction.
This is a very sad news, Iraq is a fanatic land for chistians and there aren´t solution, the war has been a mistake, if christians leave or are killed, the democracy is a joke, and americans have died for nothing, greetings

A recent TV special about Islam in Europe showed the Imam's that give "Hate-sermons" in the streets of France and England,one British convert actually avered proudly that Allah gives Muslims the right to kill the 5 Billion non-Muslims in the World as part of Jihad to reclaim the Earth for Islam and to be ruled by Shariah-law.
Lets see how the U.N. deals with the Arabs allowing the attacks on Christians by those non-Muslims praising Allah as they launch RPG's or ram cars ladened with explosives into Churches.
Very soon the West should re-access its Immigration policy and stop the migration of
followers of a "false religion" that is based on human-rights abuse and murdering people for the glory of their perceived "God of peace" or Prophet that is exhalted dispite forcing a 9 year old child to have sex with him.

Why I chose a normal life

Well, I think that I?m ready to write my testimony.
I grew up in Russia in Dagestan which is nearby Chechnya. However my parents were Russian by nationality. Living next to Muslims made my ancestors convert to Islam a long time ago.
But when I was a small girl there was no Russian Federation. I was born in the USSR. It was an awful country to say the least but there was something I liked about it. Communists were so afraid to lose their power that they were fighting against all religions. Yes, maybe it wasn?t absolutely right because people still needed something in their souls. But anyway due to communists I grew in a moderate Muslim family.
Of course, people around us were practicing their religion but they couldn?t do it openly and so, for example, we were not forced to wear hijab. My mum even worked as a driver (!).
But then the USSR went to pieces. And then my sufferings began. I won?t tell you about the war. It was not very important to me as I was only ten years old. But there was something that affected my life.
Firstly, I was expelled from my school. ?Being a good mother doesn?t require education?, Imam said.
Secondly, I was forced to wear hijab all the time. Even that I had some problems with breathing, it didn?t matter. I was told to pray to Allah to save my life.
Thirdly, I couldn?t use buses, trains and so on. I could only go out with my father.
And finally, my mother wasn?t allowed to work. And we plunged into poverty.
Try to understand me, it wasn?t the secular law. We could bring legal proceeding against these criminals. But we could also be killed by our own neighbors for not obeying. And I WANTED TO LIVE, no matter how awful my life was.
At home we always discussed Islam. We read Koran and then compared it with reality. We were stunned. But not by reality. We were stunned because this awful life was required by Koran and Mohammed. It wasn?t terrorism. It was real Islam.
We made up our minds to escape as soon as possible. We saved all our money for a one-way ticket. And while doing it, I went to mosque; was beaten by Muslim boys because my name wasn?t Arab. I was beaten by Imams because I asked too many questions. I was beaten all the time.
After a few years, an awful event happened. My grandfather converted to Christianity openly and was killed near church. I didn?t know why he converted so openly; after all he understood that he would certainly be killed. But when he was at home writhing in pain, he confessed that he had cancer and knew that his death was somewhere nearby. He said he didn?t want to die a Muslim. It would be too shameful for him. I hope now he?s in Heaven or if Heaven doesn?t exist then I hope he?s now safe and happy.
After the death of grandfather we sold everything and ran away to Norway (I was studying Norwegian since childhood). Here we all converted to Christianity. I graduated from University of Oslo. I?m now having some practice. I will be a human rights lawyer. My boyfriend is a feminist activist and a playwright. My mum has her own business and my dad is a top manager.
Why I converted to Christianity? Well, I do believe in God however I?m not a practicing Christian. We became Christians because we were afraid to be caught by Muslims. You can?t even imagine how Muslims are aware of other Muslims arriving in Norway. We wanted to have nothing to do with these fu**ing bast**ds. (Sorry)
Why did I write it here? Because my life shows why I left Islam. And when some fools say that Islam is a peaceful religion I?m disgusted and want to cry. I hope that more and more people will understand the truth about Islam.
And to those poor people who are still Muslims but want to become normal humans and lead a normal life and to those who are married to Muslims I want to say that I?ve survived because I wanted to live. I knew that life is one; if you die you will never have another one. I wanted to commit suicide. But then I thought to myself, ?Why?? Because of Muslims? But life for them is nothing. It?s just a buffer. They don?t appreciate it.
If you want to live, you have to believe in something. I believed in God. But I didn?t believe in Allah or Jesus Christ. I believed in divine justice if you want. You can believe in nature, in life, in your mind and brains. And you will pull through.
Why I chose a normal life?
It's simple. All people want to lead a normal life. But I know what abnormal life looks like. And for me choosing normal life was a well-considered decision. I chose normal life when I left Islam.
And in the end I wanted to thank Ali Sina and other wonderful people who work on this site. Your work will never be forgotten.
