Anyone connected with any Islamic website should be banned from entering the United States -- whether Muslim or non-Muslim. Anyone who works for Al-Manar or Al-Jazeera shouild be banned from entering the United States, prevented from sending members of his family to be educated in the United States (such as Samir Khadeer, who in the recent fawning "documentary" about Al-Jazeer tells Jehane Nohaim that he looks forward to sending his children to the U.S. to "escape the Arab nightmare" and "enjoy the American dream" --but as Khadeer believes he can simultaneously work for a broadcasting station that has been responsible for American deaths in Iraq, directly and indirectly, his children are just going to have to stick with that "Arab nightmare" he is helping to promote, and be prevented from partaking of that "American dream" whose citizens he has helped to murder).

And what is the likelihood, at Harvard or other law schools, that those who have been "supported" by the Saudis will take the trouble to discover, much less teach about, what real scholars of Islamic law -- such as Joseph Schacht or Antoine Fattal (a book one doubts that the current holder of the "Two Noble Sanctuaries" Chair, with its perquisites and extra salary, has even heard about, much less read), and what with all the toing-and-froing, and all the confeerences, and consultations, and meetings, and trips to benefactors in the Middle East, and other trips around the country and across the globe to make speeches to enthusiastic because complacently unaware, but well-heeled alumnni, as directed by the Development Office, what American law professor has time just to sit down and read, and think, uninterruptedly? It was what made Schacht and Margoliouth and Arthur Jeffery and Snouck Hurgronje and Goldziher able to produce what they did. But that was then.

For the modern university, and above all for many of its "world-class stars" (even, or especially, the language descending into the lower depths), that comment needs to be rewritten.

I dunno if it's such a good idea shutting down these websites. I understand the danger of skewed propaganda, but I think that shining even their own lights on the issues will ultimately do them more harm than good in Western eyes.

What the West really needs to see is Pali grade-schoolchildren stomping on Israeli flags set in their classroom thresholds, and learning 2nd grade grammer by finding the verbs in the sentence "The Zionist bombs the Palestinian children from his airplane".

I think sites and programs like these should be pointed out to Western leftist-lunkheads in the spirit of there-is-nothing-to-hide, nothing-to-surpress, and in the same breath invite them to tune in to right-wing-nutjob sites as well. For fairness' sake.
