A drunken Italian tourist has been fined more than $3,000 (£1,566) for hugging and kissing a woman in public in the United Arab Emirates.Police took the couple in for questioning after seeing them embracing in the back of a taxi near Dubai airport, said local paper Gulf News.
Officers say the pair confessed to kissing and hugging, and the Italian also admitted to being drunk.
The woman, an Egyptian national, had to pay $500 for lewd behaviour in public.
Maybe thousands of us should go to Dubai and have a kiss-in and hug-in.
Or maybe we should have a kiss-in and hug-in outside the nearest Dubai embassy.
Strange culture that has such a phobia against something like public displays of affection in this day and age. Maybe if they kissed and hugged their spouses more, they'd have less frustration and rage in them, and spend less time hating everyone and wanting to kill them. Just a thought.
If the Europeans would stop traveling to Arabia, tourism will decrease, as will the income from tourism.
If there aren't enough beautiful places to visit in Europe, then go to Arabia and take your chances with these outdated cretins.

I cannot speak for the rest of the Middle East, but Saudi Arabia, for all practical purposes, discourages Western tourism. It is REALLY difficult to get a tourist visa. It does not matter that much because outside of Red Sea diving - until pollution from Jeddah kills the surrounding reefs, there is not that much for Westerners here.
About the only Saudi Arabia has that Europe does not is desert. And that is easy. Just imagine beach without the shoreline.
Well, there is Mecca, but infidels are prohibited from going there.
