The massive growth in Lincoln's Muslim community is forcing its members to look for a bigger mosque.And a new campaign is being launched to stamp out religious intolerance in the city.
The Muslim population of Lincoln and the surrounding area is now thought to stand at 1,500 - with 2,000 Muslims in the county as a whole.
Three years ago there were between 600 and 700 Muslims in Lincolnshire, with just 400 to 500 in Lincoln....
Dr Qureshi said that although there was an arson attack on the mosque in 1995 and BNP stickers put on the door around two years ago there were few headline grabbing incidents of prejudice. But there were underlying tensions.
"We have thankfully not had anything major but there may well be incidents that are not reported," he said.
"With everything that is going on at the moment we are in the process of trying to put forward what Islam stands for - which is peace. It is not a religion which advocates terror."
Lincolnshire Police is now teaming up with the Muslim Safety Forum to distribute information packs to mosques, other Muslim community venues and police stations to help tackle Islamophobia. It is one of the first forces in the country to begin the national scheme.
Officers also meet representatives of the Lincoln mosque every week to discuss ways of promoting Islam in the city.

Yeah as someone living in the UK I can confirm that we've all been made into Dhimmi's. It’s the left, they've thrown all human-rights concerns out of the window and now fully embrace Islam simply because its anti-establishment. They have sold their souls and turn a blind eye to the plight of the Sudanese, East Timorese, Coptic Christians etc just to support Islam.
The drive to implant multiculturalism on us has lead to favouritism being shown to Muslims, be it for claiming state benefit, admittance to Universities, etc.
Vast swathes of the UK are essentially Islamic. South London, parts of Glasgow, Oldham, Burnley, Leicester, Bradford just to name a few. These are no go areas for both the police and any non-Muslim.
I think it will all kick off (á la Bosnia) within the next 10-20 years. Enough people are sick of it, it will be tragic but we'll have –in part- ourselves to blame - the problem was apparent years ago, but the solution (stopping Muslims getting into the UK/Europe/any civilised country) was never taken seriously. And we Europeans never made it an important issue until far, far too late... the warning signs were there on our own continent - Serbia, Chechnya etc but our governments backed the wrong sides.
In a sense I agree with some of the lefties, the governments of the West must shoulder some of the blame. But where I diverge from them is where I think the West's blame lies. They cry imperialism and other crass phrases like that. I say our governments let us down in not spotting the threat to us until this very late stage. This shouldn’t have happened, anyone with a cursory knowledge of Islamic History (and proper history not the revisionist stuff pumped out by Saudi cash) should be able to see that is was and still is a cold and dark cult that constantly seeks to expand its cold, dark and backward sphere of the world. Do people not question why the Spanish kicked the Muslims out hundreds of years ago? Do they not think why did the Serbs resist the Ottoman Occupation so vigorously for the best part of 500 years, right up to the 1800s?

Why should Islam be "promoted" by any local government in Lincolnshire or, for that matter, anywhere else in the Infidel world. And what exactly is "Islamophobia" that it should be discouraged? Is a dislike, or fear, or even hatred, of a belief-system that uncompromisingly divides the world between Believer and Infidel, dar al-Islam and dar al-harb, and demands that the Believers owe their sole loyalty to the umma al-islammiyya, and must work to convert, to kill, or to permanently subjugate all Infidels, reducing them to a state of humliiation and degradation -- is that something of which Infidels are supposed to remain unware? Or if they do manage to become aware, despite the best efforts of Western governments and media and in academic centers taken over by those dancing to the tune of Arab paymasters and, in many cases, staffed by Muslims and non-Muslims eager to accomodate their Muslim colleagues' every wish, should they not react in some way?
Is not what we mean by "Islamophobia" a completely rational response to the situation? Is it not the absence of fear and dislike or even hatred of Islam as a belief-system, and of those who are its dangerous carriers, which would, given what that belief-system is all about, and given the 1350-year unbroken record of aggression and suppression or murder of non-Muslims and their civilizations (the indigenous non-Muslims almost entirley wiped out, more or less, from the MIddle East, North Africa, from Sassanian (i.e. Zoroastrian) Persia, from Christian Byzantium, from parts of formerly Orthodox areas of the Balkans, from much of Hindu (and Buddhist) India -- in short, everywhere that Islam went, it damaged, and most often thoroughly managed to wipe out, all pre-Islamic and non-Islamic peoples and histoires. In a few places -- in Egypt with the Copts, in Lebanon with the Maronites who retreated to the northern mountains -- non-Muslims held on. Jews came back to Israel to resettle their ancient homeland, often forced to buy land at exorbitant prices from absentee Arab landlords, and after 1948, inheriting the nearly 90% of the land that had passed to the Mandatory authorities from its previous owner, the Ottoman State.
Given what is known of that history, given the cultural and mental impoverishment that Islam brings with it everywhere, why should not Infidels, becoming aware of those tenets and that history, not react with views which others may call "Islamophobia," but which is based on a rational and clear-sighted view of reality.
The word "Islamophobia" is a scare-word like "racism" and by now should scare, or distract, or fool none but those who want to be scared or fooled into silence.
They aspire to Lincoln Cathedral, of course. It's one of the largest in England, the guide book boasts that its straight dimensions up down and across rival that of the great pyramid so it should suit the community in question well. In my opinion it is also one of the most beautiful cathedrals but I'm sure that could be fixed to suit.
Following my post this morning under the blasphemy thread (about the mosque in the disused factory near where I was brought up) a second mosque later bought a Victorian synagogue about half a mile away. First they built an extension, then altered the windows to look oriental. Then painted it eau de nile green. Then they pulled it down and built an enormous new one. With a huge sickly green dome and a minaret which, significantly in my opinion, looks like a missile. My parents are buried in the cemetery opposite, also a Victorian foundation and thats the view I get from their grave. It is so totally out of keeping with the rest of the areas architecture, but we all know how planning permission was granted. Half the council are of the congregation.
The Brits can all celebrate when places like St.Paul's Cathedral, Salisbury and Westminster become the newest mosques. After all, the churches are all empty anyway, no one practices christianity anymore. The sophisticated european practices only secular humanism, they all know how silly christianity is. Therefore since they believe in nothing, what is the difference if the churches are occupied the infidel muslim?
They have nothing to gripe about, they got exactly what they've been wishing for a long time.
They'll either dumb all the way according to the new rulers of europe, or they will finally hitch up their drawers and remember who they are and kick the hell out of the muslims.
It will be interesting if finally there will be mass civil unrest across the continent and islands, with maybe some goverments involved in being overthrown by those who are fed up.

The big cities are bursting at the seams and most of the indigenous have or are in the process of moving out to the suburbs and beyond, into the millions of new private houses smothering the landscape, well the one's with a decent income are.
The poor are left behind to face the enemy and they're the ones most ignorant, least educated, no computers to find these sort of places. So for the time being, the segregation, of sorts, helps to keep the myth alive.
Islam is, I think, for the most part, being ignored by the masses, as they are more concerned by the crumbling health and education system's, gridlocked roads, crap transport, crime, and various other domestic issues, tax, jobs, council housing, etc etc.
There isn't much that gets into the media and it's usually "them" wanting their own schools, or complaining about being discriminated against or expressing their fears of the growing unrest, etc etc. but no major conflict's. The real crimes rarely get a mention, 4 "racist" murders of white lads, if memory serves, have hardly been reported in the press.
I think it's unfair to blame the people for the mess, after all it was after WW2 that the immigration was encouraged to fill the gap in the diminished workforce. I was a baby then and our parents and grandparents could have never realised how it would escalate, most of them are now dead and gone. It wasn't them that asked to be colonised, there was no referendum for a multi-culti society. Let's face it, after almost sixty years, the rogue cell that turned cancerous you don't know is there, until one day the pain strikes, the malignancy has become so invasive it is beyond curative treatment.
Blame underhanded, secretive, lying governments. Blame greedy capitalist companies, but please don't blame the working man, the one who toils for the capitalist, the one who trusts in his government to take care of him and his country, and the one who will in the end lay his life on the line for that country.

Excellent diversion by the Muslims to tie-up the Police with spreading Islam so they can't track down the Islamists plotting their next Jihad attack in England. When the USA did it, it was a racist insult to have a Black emersion program to promote equality because the Black-face performers are now seen as mocking Afro-Americans. Here's a thought,all the Christian Police Officers should be allowed to hold Christianophobia classes in the Mosques to educate Muslums on human rights and how the Police are meant to be religiously neutral so all citizens feel fairly treated during complaints to Police.
