LONDON (Reuters) - The number of British Muslims who say they experience discrimination has nearly doubled in the past four years, according to a survey.Some 80 percent of the country's 1.8 million Muslims say they have been discriminated against because of their faith compared to 45 percent in 2000 and 35 percent in 1999, the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) said on Thursday.
Muslim men are now just as likely as women to experience prejudice -- a significant change which the IHRC blamed on an increase in the number of police and security checks carried out on Muslim men since the September 11 attacks in 2001.
White British Muslims report more discrimination than any other ethnic group, suggesting Britons are intolerant of apostates who convert to Islam.
"What's happened, post 9/11, is that some very deeply rooted prejudices -- things that weren't articulated in the public realm -- have found expression," Arzu Merali, one of the authors of the report, told Reuters.
The 'Islamic Human Rights Commission' - Textbook example of an oxymoron.

No mention of the fact that 'practicing Muslims' look at the rest of the UK population as 'others'. The Guardian told us with great fanfare in their laudatory pull-out section on Islam a few weeks ago that 33% of UK Muslims want closer integration. Which leave us with two thirds who don't! So Muslims are in effect telling us: "It's OK if most of us view you (and all you stand for) as being part of the 'other'."
Just don't return the compliment.

Islam prescribes the death penalty for Muslim apostates, yet they dare to accuse British society, that affords all freedoms to all religions?
They need to look at their own community and how it treats apostates, and if they are so interested in Human Rights, they need to address the Muslim scriptures for their bigotry, cruelty and utter intolerance in preaching death as the punishment for leaving Islam.
Why are there no British journalists who are prepared to challenge this Orwellian doublespeak and audacious hypocrisy?
I have to admit that for a long time, I was satisfied to simply disagree politely with the Muslims. It has been a matter of deep anguish of soul to me that someone like Khomeini is now lionized in Texas and Michigan; and that we aren't seeing Muslims doing more of the "outing" of Islam's bad eggs--and getting applause from their own community in doing so. At this stage, my sympathies are fully with any non-BNP Brits who are upset at what is happening in their country. The rest of us simply owe too much to what England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland once were.
Britons are not showing 'prejudice' towards Muslims but a growing awareness that there exists among them a group whose allegiance is not to the Nation and all its peoples, but to themselves, their higher Sovereign, and the distant call of the Middle East. Exactly how is this "discrimination" or "prejudice" being manifested? Are the muslims being denied jobs, housing, welfare benefits? Are they being kept from buying groceries? Taking the subway (or is it tube?)? Going to the mosque?
Getting funny looks happens to a lot of people: fat ones, ugly ones, short ones, tall ones..."Dirty" looks are only in the eye of the beholder.
To the IHRC - some things are worse than merely 'being considered the other'. This is buried deep within the BBC website, under the 'Scotland' section. When can we expect your 'outrage'!?

Let's get the facts straight. All the killers were Muslim (calling them Asian is an insult to Asian Hindus, Budhists and Christians who are implicated by this designation), the boy was killed merely because he was white. Or should that be 'non-Muslim'?

We do not need the BNP as allies. As numerous contributors pointed out last thread, we have natural allies in Briat in the Afro-British community, in the Indo-British and Sino-British communities. We have such large pools of supporters within those communities that we likely don't actually need even the native English communities to make a significant start on the repeal of Moslem appeasement.
If, as some contributors claim, Moslems in Britain are targeting non-Moslem Asian and African youths for beatings and coerced conversions to Islam, we have a natural base of anti-jihadis with a great deal at stake immediately and viserally: they're being physically attacked.
Among our British correspondents here we must have one labor union vetran who knows how to produce a leaflet at leaswt as good as the one the BNP slipped under Welsh doorways recently. We must have someone wh is able and energetic enough to approach the ethnic communities with the proposal to unite in struggle against Islam in the form of "Afro/Asian Student Self-defense Organizations," for example. Perhaps a campaign among the Afro-English neighborhoods could work with the idea of a march in protest against genocide in Sudan, a march that might happen to go through a Moslem area. The pickets, of course, have to be stapled to 2x2 posts. Labour vetrans know the routine. One photocopier, a dozen men sliding hand-outs under doors in the evening, a rally in a park, and a short march to anywhere that crosses through a Molsem area to have a round of speeches denouncing atrocities against Black Africans.
A central steering commitee including our Sikh and Sino cousins, more marches, and soon the nights will be filled with the sounds of celebration, as it were.
Anyone with experience in organizing a surprize birthday party could do this kind of work. A permit denied? Well, that's a racist atrocity in itself, and perfect reason to have a demonstration denouncing the racist council and its Moslem controllers.
Outreach, so to speak, is the key, if one has the skills to meet with and co-ordinate inter-ethnic committees. Twenty year old Sikh men at any community centre will be receptive to the idea of massing in front of a statue in a park to listen to speakers denouncing the massacres in the Punjab on such day way back when, and who really cares. Any labour worker with any skills at all can put together an inter-ethnic steering committee among youths in any city all. And far better to organize among the Afro/Asian community that to lean on the BNP for anything.
This is the time of year in Britain to begin organizing the affinities of men into small cells interlocked and co-ordinated within their communities. To gather support, to create interest in the issues, to make propaganda, to raise awareness of the history of the atrocities of Islamic domination of the old homelands, these are the acts one must work on. In spring when the weather improves enough for men and women to gather outside during the day, that is the time for marches and rallies. Plant now, and the seeds will sprout in time for spring and summer.

Many people have the same idea. I would say that virtually the whole of Europe would now like to see the back of muslims, and rue the day that we allowed these backward throat slitting/hacking benefit scroungers into the West.
But you are right, brilliant idea. Now how does one get it implemented ie get them to leave.
One way is to make the West muslim un-friendly if not actually muslim hostile. Make the practice of islam a shameful thing. The Animal liberation Front or PETA, must do something about the ritual slaughter of animals performed by muslims. This is nothing but torture of poor dumb animals. It is worse then anything that happens in labs, where the animal is atleast sedated.
I believe the muslim public call to prayer, deeply offensive to all non-muslims. They openly boast that their god is the greatest. This is incitement and provocation as well. In fact, I believe, it is inciting me to violence.

Quite right. It must have come to notice to all, how quiet the likes of Bakri and Chaudharry have been in the last couple of months. One also notices that the trolls that normally infest this site, are keeping their peace. All this can hardly be coincidence and can be only be co-ordinated from the mosques. We are seeing a co-ordinated plan of action to get the UK to be the first Western country to adopt a law, that makes the denigration of mohammed, a criminal offence. Sharia follows as a natural consequence.
For many years I have said that mosques should not be regarded purely as places of worship but really as forts in the heart of the enemy's land. Just as forts, mosques are places where munitions are kept, stategies and tactics are deliberated.
Remember in the old Western films, if the cavalry was in retreat, they hastily withdrew into the forts. Well that is exactly how the jihadis have behaved in Iraq.
Finally, that mosques are in reality forts, comes from muslim themselves. When Sunnis attack Shiias or vice-versa, it is the enemy's mosques they blow up. Muslims themselves confirm the proposition.
And the BBC is so committed to 'noninflammatory remarks against Muslims, that, in this piece, they repeated call Muslims convicted of conspiring to indiscrimately murder Christmas shoppers in Strausborg, 'alledged'.

These folks, convicted, legally guilty, remain, according to the BBC, 'alledged criminals'. Can one interpret this piece in any other way? What facts must be known to call such criminals just 'criminals', 'conspirators to mass murder' or 'terrorists'?
That is how far gone the BBC is. And that is how far gone Britain will be if it allows the passage of these insane, so-called, ' religious hate-speech' laws.
British Muslims have a lot to gain from presenting themselves as victims of discrimination and that is clearly the main purpose of the exercise. The tactic pays its best dividends at the local, inner city level where they tend to live. This is where they come into direct contact with the subsidised housing, social services, benefit systems and other easy pickings and where, by a happy coincidence, a large number of ideologically driven and highly gullible individuals tend to work. These are the kind of individuals who like to show their non-discriminatory credentials by taking a sympathetic, Islamo-friendly position when they learn that benefit-dependent Mr Rahman was sub-letting his rent free council flat whilst he and his wife and five kids were on a 6 month ‘cultural’ visit to his home village in Bangladesh.
The victims of discrimination tactic also provides a good excuse for British Muslims not to integrate and to demand more and more separate, Islamic-centred, facilities where there are none of those nasty and discriminatory non-Muslims around.

I read the article, and there is important information there. It the context of the claim to have an 'ally' at the BBC deserves full reprint here (these are quotes directly from Hamad:

So, Hamas and Islamic Jihad are fighting over recruits based on the successful number of 'attacks', i.e. Israelis murdered. Islamic triumphalism is the key notion here: this is the recruiting card that the Jihadists need (not Israeli attacks, not America's war in Iraq. What helps these groups recruit is SUCCESS IN KILLING PEOPLE.
The piece goes on,

Has the BBC ever written an article on Islamic triumphalism and its importance in motivating and recruiting Jihadist? Is this the reason why even moderate groups claim the 'successes' of higher conversion rates after 9/11?

A british comentator on the O`Reilly show tonight was talking about the antidiscrimination law proposed by the socialist politicians in Britain.
He said that starting around 1947,England has become an increasingly secularized society,and as christianity declined,the british society started to also show clear signs of decline,criminality on the rise,murders,rapes,drugs,prostitution,etc.
On the other hand,more and more muslims immigrants were let in,and as we now know,they refused to integrate,they proclaimed islam above british nationality,citizenship or law and their faith has kept them strong and resilient.
Islamic faith is now filling up the void left behind the dying christian culture.

UK Action Alert: Bishop Richard Harries of Oxford
On this morning's 'Thought for the Day' on BBC Radio 4 (For those of you not in the UK - this is BBC Radio's flagship current affairs programme) the Bishop of Oxford saw fit to discuss the merits of Turkey joining the EU. With entirely predictable results.
According to him (wait for it) - It's the Christian thing to do! Apparently respect for the 'other' demands it. Oh yes and it would strike fear in the heart of Islamists as it will show them what Islam 'properly understood' really is. Besides, said the bishop, no disconnect whatsoever between Islam and European values.
It is especially to Islam 'properly understood' bit that got me. Besides this 'proper understanding' leading him to ludicrous positions on the effect of Islam on the West; it is just plain arrogance! What he is basically saying is: "I have seen Islam and it is fuzzy, warm and kind. Just like me in fact." No matter that those who study Islam all their lives come to totally different conclusions. I'll be the arbiter. Case closed.
The clincher was that he used Kemal Ataturk's magnanimous statement to mothers of dead allied soldiers after WW1(They are our sons...) as proof of how 'properly understood' Islam looks. No mention of the fact that Ataturk is the 'bogeyman' of the majority of those who claim to 'properly understand' Islam in Turkey.
People (especially those who should know better!) should not be allowed to get away with this kind of insipid nonsense anymore. They either need to be challenged or educated.
Please help me in doing the following:
* Write the Bishop a respectful letter challenging his position.
* Send him a copy of 'Islam unveiled'.
