LONDON - After enduring up to three years of imprisonment and interrogation at the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, four Britons returned to England on Tuesday and were immediately arrested by antiterrorist police.Moazzam Begg, Feroz Abbasi, Martin Mubanga and Richard Belmar were arrested under a provision of the Terrorism Act dealing with "involvement in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism," London's Metropolitan Police said.
"What sort of homecoming is this? They are innocent people," said Massoud Shadjareh, one of a group of protesters who assembled outside the high-security Paddington Green police station where the men were held.
Maybe they are innocent people, but in light of the return of some released Gitmo prisoners to the jihad, there is every reason for caution.

Imagine the surprise these fellows received when being arrested again.
The old Muslim ruse that "You're innocent until proven guilty" is just a charade to hide their real mindset of "Catch us if you can".
These thugs were rounded up for a reason and Gitmo prison was a far better place than the streets of Iraq,being released from a prison doesn't negate the chance of being arrested some where else.

The reports emnating from teh UK speak of wanton dhimmi appeasement of muzzies on the one hand (remember that post on dhimmiwatch abt some $2m spent on some terrorist preacher's pulpit or abt that anti-hatred law banning questioning the Quran?) and then there're reports like this on the other.
Makes me think maybe its the level of government that is to blame. At the lower local levels, the arms of the law seem much more upright and willing to do the right thing. At the higher levels in government though, dhimmitude prevails.
BTW, passed via london last weekend and was surprised to see an unusually watrm winter for the whole of western europe. I mean above zero degC temps on january mornings...??!! Seems like Europe is getting hotter by the year - both literally and metaphorically...

I read that congratulations are overdue. I think you are right in your assessment, my Mother used to say “the outsider sees all”. It is very frustrating why the higher echelons cannot not, will not, see what is happening. But quietly, slowly, at lower level opinion is hardening. The less conservative are finally realising that the Islamic attitude to women, homosexuals and animals is not compatible with their liberal views. In the churches the persecution of Christians by Islam is becoming a greater cause for concern. Black African Christians can be more vociferous.
And as for the weather you got out of London at the right time. It started to snow on Sunday (although nothing compared with your East Coast) and it’s b. cold this morning.

I was talking to a friend in NZ the other day about the veiled witness case. She was pleased the woman was made to remove her veil and said that it had been made clear that a precedent was not being set. I thought she meant that in another case a Moslem witness might be allowed to give evidence veiled? But no, there was no precedent set to an unveiled woman being screened and attended by female court staff as in this particular case. The indigenous Maori population are very proud of their culture, they do not allow it to be swamped by British culture, general opinion is that they will not allow it to be taken over by a second different culture. And the Maoris being non white themselves are not susceptible to claims of racism.
And as for the Guantanamo Detainees only their own families and the usual suspects are pleased to see them back. But I don’t think they expected immediate arrest.

It was just yesterday that I wrote the BBC that the police should watch out for these guys because a treat is always a treat no matter how long the treat is left alone. These guys are just like a nuclear bomb they have a very long half-life.
I personally do not think these guys are innocent because if it looks like rat, smells like rat, walks like rat, eat like rat and steals like rat, I will assume that it is a rat.
