Cairo to Host Conference on Humanity of Islam

As if "Islamophobia" is created ex nihilo, or from the febrile imaginations of hatemongers. Why aren't there any international conferences to discuss rising levels of Buddhismophobia and distorted images of Buddhism? Why is it only Islam that seems to have this problem? Of course, some groups really are the victims of irrational prejudices, but in this case that is an unproven assumption -- and the one thing we can be virtually certain will not happen at this Cairo conference is an honest self-examination. No one will confront the fact that Islam has doctrines mandating warfare against unbelievers, and that Muslims worldwide are acting upon those doctrines today. If those Muslims are mentioned at all at this conference, it will be to claim, with no explanation or justification whatsoever, that they are twisting Islam.

From IslamOnline, with thanks to Twostellas:

CAIRO, January 28 (IslamOnline.net) – In an effort to confront rising Islamophobia worldwide, Cairo is to host a conference on the humanity of Islam and how to clear distorted images of the religion.

The conference, slated for April 17, is to be attended by a cohort of Islamic affairs and waqfs (religious endowment) ministers, muftis and representatives of Muslim and international organizations.

Muslim and western scholars from 80 countries would show up for the event, under the title, “Humanity of Islamic Civilization” and organized by the Higher Council on Islamic Affairs in Egypt.

The main purpose of the gathering is to highlight the Islamic values and civilization in order to stand up to the ferocious international campaign against Muslims, said Egyptian Waqfs Minister Mahmoud Hamdy Zaqzouq Thursday, January 27.

The title reflects two main calls, the first for Muslims to abide by the true values of their religion and the second for the world to reverse attitudes towards Islam, he said.

Four Pivots

The conference is to touch on four pivots during the four day of discussions, according to Zaqzouq.

The first is “Islam's stance on the other”, as well as principles of equality and multiplicity in the religion.

The second is Islam’s relation to other civilizations. Claims on clash of civilizations, along with the influence of Islam on western civilizations, will be tackled by the participants.

The humanity of Islam, abhorrence of hatred and racism, respect for prophets, in addition to the world’s need to highlight Islamic values would make up the third pivot.

The fourth probes Islam’s views on woman, discusses the honoring of women by Islam, legal personality of women, marriage contracts and political role, in addition to inheritance, testimony and polygamy issues.

I am not as concerned about the "humanity" of Islam as I am about the humanity of Muslims. We have recently seen examples of their fourth pivot in action: the "honor killing" of the Kuwaiti teenager and the attempted death sentence of the raped Pakistani doctor.

This should be a Hoot! What humanity are they talking about and how come Muslims aren't applying
'Humanity' to Darfur, only stepping up air attacks on helpless Civilians?? Glad to see 'Islamophobia' level is rising around the world as more Non Muslims get educated about the 'Religion of Pieces.'

Should be a short conference.

It's clear they use a different dictionary to the rest of the world. The word "humanity" means different things to non-Muslims. It has a more positive connotation, warm and good. Muslims take many of these positive type words and twist and distort them into something grotesque.

So they'll go into this love-in believing their belief system is very humane. Beating your wife, slaughtering your daughter, mutilating genitals of young girls, stoning rape victims, adultresses and retarded girls forced into prostitution, whipping young pickpockets and hungry teenagers who do horrid things such as break their fast, murder people who criticize their belief system or rake a pile of leaves against a mosque, blow up buildings and buses, rape and slaughter other Muslims with skin a tad too tinted. This is all perfectly humane to a Muslim. Why can't the infidel understand this and quit being so damn Islamophobic and criticizing these wonderful humane acts?

Hey,it was a typo in the translation, the "o" key is beside the "i" key and they also hit the "Space" bar.

The claim of it being a meeting "on humanity"
should have read "inhumanity" conference for Islam.

Sorry, couldn't let that one go by,Islam is becoming so easy to laugh at that it begs for a
little levity.

What Islamic values? The right of Islam "to dominate and not to be dominated"? The right of Muslims to be the sole source of "rights" for all non-Muslims (and only as long as those non-Muslims fulfill a long list of onerous requirements, condeming to a permanent state of humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity)? The right of Muslims to kill all those Muslims who dare attempt to leave Islam?

What "civilization"? The more one studies the history of "Islamic civilization," the less impressive its claims.

The "Golden Age" of Islamic civlization was in many ways parasitic on the Christian and Jewish host populations that had been conqured, and while more advanced, numerous, and rich than the conquering Muslim Arabs, remained so for some time. And while those Christians and Jews remained culturally significant, and not only as translators and transmitters of the achievements of non-Muslim civilizations, eventually they were reduced in numbers, in power and influence. And that is how the "Islamic civilization" came to an end, after the first few hundred years -- never to be reborn. For Islam inhibits artistic expression and scientific inquiry. It stunts the mental growth. That, above all.

Very encouraging to hear, from islam, that there is rising islamophobia worldwide.

They ain't see nothing yet.

And if it is worldwide, it must include Hindus, Buddhists, Confucians and so many more as allies in this fight against islamofascism.

Big big smile.

I agree Hugh, islam is a stultifying ideology, a dead hand on creativity and original thought.

islam stunts mental growth, as you say, and also stunts moral growth.

Lets hear it for rising islamophobia worldwide; mankinds survival instinct finally kicking in.

And remember, by bringing all of this up, WE are tarnishing the image of Islam.

You’re absolutely right. There’s going to be no real debate, just a load of one-sided Muslim propaganda followed by speeches from carefully selected Western sycophants who will agree with everything they say. It’s going to be about as free and open as one of Sadam Husein’s general elections.

The Humanity of Islam, very bad joke, we want truths and less auto-say us " We are very good" like the horrible dossier in CNN about hajj, very sad

Some brave soul representing Jihad Watch has GOT to attend this "conference", love in, smooz fest, propaganda outlet.

Please..........

Exposing Islam is the best weapon we've got.

If the next attack is the one Islamist are threatening with 5 major cities being nuked by suitcased bombs and slaughtering hundreds of thousand civilian,I doubt there will be one Mosque left in American to be used for the
tripe about Islam meaning peace and Muslims have nothing to do with terrorism.

They just don't get it,they are the enemy
to the Islamists that want sharia law and submission to Allah so there's no more freewill
to make us sinners that deserve to rot in hell
by this loving,compassionate,merciful,forgiving
moon-God.

They dont even get along with each other...IE: Sunni, Shiite, Kurds, it will be a headache for all and want to wear boots as the BS will be deep.

A Conference on the humanity of Islam? Islamic humanity = oxymoron.

misskitty - good one. Oxymoron. Those seem to be plentiful in Islam. Like Islamic Peace. Another oxymoron. To them, this "peace" is hell on earth to the rest of us. The other one I get a good laugh over is when I read about Muslim groups that call themselves "Muslim Human Rights" organizations. LOL! Like Muslim Women's Rights. Another oxymoron. And "there is no compulsion in religion". We don't see that in action much.

dby: yes, it is actually very encouraging to hear about rising Islamophobia. To this conference, this is bad, but to the free, sane world, this is a good thing. To be phobic about Islam is to be well informed and knowledgeable about the dangers of Islam, about the taqiyya-free truth of Islam.

This conference will probably be a workshop on how to disseminate "new and improved" taqiyya. After hours of senseless rhetoric, the Western useful idiots will be dispatched to do the bidding of their heroes----LIE, LIE, LIE.
I'm glad to hear that Islamophobia is on the rise worldwide. I just can't understand why that is!
These morons need to understand that it's only going to get worse, not that "Islamophobia" is even a legitimate word. It is a contrived crutch used by Islamics to evoke pity, appeasement, and to silence Islam's critics. Anyone with the sense to be afraid of Islam is not irrational.
I am expecting one of our socialist members of the Democratic party to introduce hate speech legislation any day now. For that matter, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if a Republican did it; they're almost as sympathetic toward Islam as their communist counterparts. Republicans seem to be falling over backwards to prove to America that they are "sensitive" to ethnic and minority concerns. We wouldn't want them to be bigots just so they could continue to represent their constituents, who happen to be the vast majority of the people. Today, no one is important but minorities.
If they do try to pass hate speech legislation, we need to bombard Washington like it's never been bombarded before. The law they're trying to pass in Britain could send people to prison for seven years for evangelism! They have even resorted to sending out spies (undercover cops) to public places like restaurants, sporting events, etc. to eavesdrop on personal conversations and arrest people for making racial slurs or "inciting hate." Those people have lost their minds. We cannot allow this to happen here.

"Humanity of Islam?" Carbombs, Terror, Hijack, Murder and mayhem. Iran must the most humanitarian state on earth...

A while ago I had an argument on a similar view:
"Creation science"- Either you believe in creation, then you deny science. Science is based on fact and creation is based on belief. I don't think you can mix the two together. This thing has also been around for a while in certain quarters, but it just doesn't make sense. 'Creation science' is the same nonsense as "humanity and Islam"- any disagreements?

Actually, I don't see much of an analogy. People who believe in creationism don't reject science per se. In fact, just the other day I heard someone suggest that perhaps evolution was designed by God, although that is contradictory to what the Bible teaches.
Many erudite, intelligent people refuse to believe that they are descended from apes, whether they are religious or not.
Personally, I think both theories should be presented. When I was a student studying Darwin and evolution, creationism was presented as an alternative theory. I have the utmost respect for scientific research and knowledge. It got us where we are today.

Susan~ I am one of those who believe evolution is part of His plan... but that would take some time to explain and there's Waaaay too much going on with the jihadists to go into it here, besides some of the arguments it would cause...

btw the Big Bang theory was designed by a Catholic Priest. I think in the long run this is why other branches of Christianity have a hard time with the Church in Rome- The Roman Church has accepted science into its thinking (mostly! partly?) and this of course leads to charges of the 'liberal' church.... of course that comes from the same people who think the Rapture already occurred, but enough of this!

If this conference wants to talk about distorted views of islam, perhaps they should start by looking at what they are teaching their children on state-run tv and in the madrassas.
