College dean stirs Islam controversy

"Duke is under fire for comments he made about Islam not being a peaceful religion." Times are exceedingly tough when you can come "under fire" for telling the truth. From WND, with thanks to all who sent this in:

The dean of a Bible college has stirred up a controversy in Tennessee after challenging a neighboring school's class on Islam and declaring that the religion is not peaceful.

Kerry Duke is dean of Tennessee Bible College in Cookeville, Tenn. After hearing about a plan for Tennessee State University to host members of the Islamic Center of Nashville for a free course on Islam, Duke sent a letter to TSU President James Hefner questioning the use of a government-funded university for a course on religion, reported the Nashville Tennessean.

''Are you not using government money to promote religion – a single religion?'' Duke wrote in his Jan. 14 letter. ''Would you allow me to lecture at TSU on Christianity?''

Soon after the letter was received, TSU canceled the class on Islam without much of an explanation....

Besides the letter, Duke is under fire for comments he made about Islam not being a peaceful religion.

''I've been to the mosque several times and I'm well aware of the teachings of the Quran,'' Duke said. ''I disagree with their claims that their religion does not promote violence, and I can show there are statements in the Quran that encourage violence to non-Muslims.''

Gay Welch is chaplain at Vanderbilt University Divinity School, where the course on Islam will now be held. Welch disputed Duke's charge about the religion.

''A lot of violence has been committed in the name of all religions, and there's no reason to lay it all at the feet of Islam,'' she told the Tennessean. ''If you look deeply into the teachings of Jesus and Muhammad, you find that both promoted benevolence, peace and unity.''

I challenge Gay Welch to show from the Qur'an and Hadith that Muhammad promoted benevolence, peace, and unity for anyone but Muslims, and to find anywhere in his teachings anything comparable to Jesus' "love your enemies."

Mohammed told all humankind of the kindess, compassion and forgiveness of Allah.

Qur'an 5.33 The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;

Well....unless a Muslim thinks you are a legitimate target of course.

Your unofficial Nashville chapter of jihadwatch will be all over this like white on rice.

The truth was told. So what? Islam has the worst inferiority complex I've ever seen.

Just to clarify - Gay is a woman

Exactly how deep do you have to look to find forgiveness in islam? She is just another apologist for the death cult.

There must be two completely different Qurans, and Hadiths out there. Which one is Chaplain Gay Welch reading? Come to think of it, she couldn`t have possibly read it at all. Maybe she has read one of those little 30 page pamphlets that some clerics like to put out that only mention the peaceful tenants of Islam.

She must be living in a cocoon somewhere. Imagine what she might learn at those mosques if she understood Arabic.

The good Chaplain needs to get out once in a while so she can see the forest through the trees.

It would be interesting to see Robert have a friendly discussion with Chaplain Welch.

OT.

It's Islam Week special at the dhimmitudous Childrens BBC Web Site. Islam sure looks like fun

http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/specials/2005/islam/default.stm

And we get a chance to ask a question to the Aminul Hoque who is an "Islamic affairs specialist and knows loads about young people and cultural identity."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_4190000/newsid_4191600/4191699.stm

He will even answer questions on the Koran for you. Have fun:). This was my question

If Islam is such a peaceful religion why are muslims always killing innocent people while reciting verses from the koran which justify these acts?

I somehow doubt they'll write back

A lot of violence has been committed in the name of all religions, and there's no reason to lay it all at the feet of Islam...
Yes, much violence has been perpetrated throughout history in the name of religion, but only in Islam is the exhortation enshrined in its immutable canon to kill all who refuse to believe or submit to subjugation under its law. That makes it unique among all the world's religions. It is also the only one that forbids peace treaties with people who are not adherents of the religion, ever, temporary cease fire, but never peace. So I ask, here is a religion that forbids peace, what part of the phrase, "not a peaceful religion" is not true?

It says in the BBC website that 7 out of 10 muslim children regard themselves as themselves as muslim rather than being British.

I would stand up for a beer also and wouldn’t sit down until you put it in my hand.

Dear Anouar

I believe the above statement talks about showing respect for the dead.

You negate the fact that the Qur’an and Hadith encourages disrespect for all living non Moslems. Showing respect to dead people is easy, respecting the living is the real challenge for Is-lame.

Sincerely
Bar

''A lot of violence has been committed in the name of all religions, and there's no reason to lay it all at the feet of Islam,''

We are not, by any means blaming Is-lame for the violence committed by some of the crusaders against the Jews or for the Spanish inquisition or the Nazi oppression etc....
We do blame Is-lame for its anti-Semitism and its promotion of violence against non Moslems.

Has anyone at JW/DW contacted/expressed support for Kerry Duke?

Here's their website: http://www.tn-biblecollege.edu/

Way past time to tear the mask and mantle off the monster and show it in its repulsive nakedness.

Too important to only give a link because many might miss it--and it must be the first step taken. This step is to free ourselves from our home-made fetters, bindings in which they have entangled us, as a spider immobilizes its prey. They are using what we have painstakingly woven to keep us free and just to envelop us and make us impotent against their drive to subjugate us, to give us a choice of "either or," with the "or" meaning our death.

TAKING AWAY THEIR GREATEST WEAPON

The civilized world has defined religion as something untouchable and sacrosanct. For civilized peoples, this is all well and good. But there are demons that move among us who have perverted the intent of religion as well as the laws protecting it. By doing this, they have waged war, encouraged slavery, and committed and incited murder and genocide with near impunity. It is time for a legal defining of 'religion.'

Merriam-Webster's online dictionary defines religion as:

1.) The service and worship of God or the observance.

2.) A personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices.

3.) A cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.

These definitions are not qualified or modified in any way. Why? Because civilized people would find it inconceivable to include murder and genocide, as well as global conquest, slavery and subjugation as part of something Godly.

And yet this is what we are now facing. All in the name of 'religion.'

But then, the civilized world views the whole concept of God as a supernatural force devoted to 'good.' And here we must also define what we think of as 'good.'

To us, 'good' represents anything that encourages freedom, justice, morality, expansion of the mind, and creativity. 'Good' mean life encouraging. 'Good' means the opposite of chaos and restriction. 'Good' means the opposite of despotism and tyranny. 'Good' means acceptance of differing thoughts and opinions so long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others.

Under these definitions, a blanket protection of religion is right and just.

Unfortunately, these definitions of 'goodness' as being necessary to a religion have never been set down or codified -- they have been merely understood. And we are now paying for that.

The non-Islamist (non-radical Islam) world is being forced, by our own laws, to revere and respect all versions of Islam as being equal. They are not. Several forms of Islam (Sufi and Ismaili are two), who believe in our definition of 'good,' are rapidly disappearing through murder and conquest.

But many other forms of Islam actually believe that murder, genocide, war for the sake of religious conquest and expansion, as well as slavery or indenture (they call it debt-servitude to get around the rightfully inflammatory word 'slavery'), sexual mutilations and enforced ignorance are all 'good.' And they have forced us to accept their definitions of 'good' under the legal protections afforded to all religions.

Essentially, Islamism has taken that which we would consider the work of the ultimate evil and wrapped 'religion' around it to circumvent the very laws we have in place to protect us from such demonic and monstrous aspirations.

When you have American mosques, American Islamist publications, and Imams and groups in America calling for 'death to the Zionists, Jews and Crusaders,' this should not be protected under freedom of religion. It is unholy and ungodly by civilized definitions and actually is in conflict with the 'Hate Speech as War Crimes section of the Genocide Laws. Yet it is still, unfortunately, considered 'protected speech,' and thus manages to supercede our other laws banning and punishing such behaviors.

This must change.

When you have constant genocidal speeches urging the murder of Jews and Christians issuing from mosques and on television, as in Israel or in Great Britain, this should not be tolerated. This is not religion. This is conquest politics at it most fiendish.

And yet Israel continues to ignore this and make concessions to a people bent upon their destruction for 'holy' reasons.

Great Britain, meanwhile, seems to blithely allow such hatred and lies which are aimed at instilling genocidal intent. It has reached the shameful point where even their own prince apparently thought that wearing the symbol of a former regime who accomplished just what radical Islam preaches is acceptable.

This must change.

If we are to survive as free, safe, and happy people, the civilized world as a whole must alter their laws to exclude such practices from the protection of being considered legitimate religions.

And the first step to freeing ourselves from the unholy pseudo-religion of Islamism (radical Islam) is to immediately incorporate into our laws what is acceptable as a true religion and what is not. This will liberate us from the losing proposition of tolerating and/or negotiating with murderers, inciters, enslavers and tyrannical regimes, who cowardly hide behind the shield WE provided them with: 'Anything done in the name of religion is untouchable.'

When you have countries such as Saudi Arabia, funding terrorism in Israel in the name of Islam and continuing the enslavement of entire peoples as being part of their Islamist version of conversion through conquest as well as 'the Islamic Law of debt servitude," this must not be tolerated. And yet we do. And not merely for the sake of oil.

We must further define our laws to specify that hatred, incitement, tyranny and the goal of conquest and conversion (as opposed to mild verbal and/or intellectual persuasion), as well as slavery and the lack of freedom of choice and thought, should be mandatory in the definition of what is not a religion.

We, the civilized world, must immediately take measures to modify our laws and thus prevent those who yearn for our destruction to use our own freedoms against us.

It's amazing how they deviously keep pushing Islam into govt-funded schools, and the schools blithely let this happen. Yet if a Christian or Jew wanted the same thing, I doubt they'd be so accommodating. But Islam gets a free pass, unless someone who is clued-up about what Islam is really about, kicks up a fuss and challenges it. Like Kerry Duke. I wonder how many of these courses get through, because there aren't any bold, informed Kerry Dukes nearby to challenge it? How many of our kids' minds are being poisoned by these cunning snakes, with the parents blindly believing it's a nice but misunderstood religion? But that still doesn't answer why one religion is given a free pass in our schools, when they have policies to keep religion out. I mean, where's the consistency in this policy?

Islam week passed my daughter by.
So I was too late to ask the "islamic expert" about Aisha so I had to do a complaint e-mail.

I made it quite clear that I was a parent but still had to tick a box saying I had got a parents permission. But got away without giving my age.

I know I won't get a reply from the Bleedin' Biased Corporation. I never do.

Watch your preachers!

It appears that some Catholic and protestant priests in Germany are getting quite cuddly with the local Imams, openly admiring how they indoctrinate their flock and how these Imams are respected by those they indoctrinate. On a few occasions I have witnessed the deep impression that our clergymen are taking home and the open admiration for Islam, which is seen as 'intact'.
The long 'lost respect' which our kids no longer have for their religion or those who are to teach them about it has made them despair, I can see already that quite a few of our clergymen will soon 'revert' to Islam. Let alone that the Pope kissed that dirty book, the Qu'ran! Religious freaks are all the same, just keep a watchful eye on organised religion, they are the first to switch!

''A lot of violence has been committed in the name of all religions, and there's no reason to lay it all at the feet of Islam,'' she told the Tennessean. ''If you look deeply into the teachings of Jesus and Muhammad, you find that both promoted benevolence, peace and unity.''

Gay Welch, are you yet another Christian apologist for the religion of blood-lust and death? Where in Islam's holy texts is there ANYTHING that promotes benevolence, peace, and unity, except for MUSLIMS and at the expense of the rest of humanity?!
This woman should be ashamed for comparing Jesus to the demon Muhammad. Where do these scholars get their reference material on Islam?!
Muhammad promoted nothing but war, death, destruction, sexual perversion, pillage, plunder, slavery, rape, intolerance and HATE. How anyone can squeeze benevolence, peace, and unity into that twisted array of perversities is beyond me.

susan, it's obvious that Gay hasn't looked very deeply at all into the "teachings" of Mohammed. She's just mindlessly parroting the BS that's been going around about Islam, thanks to taqiyya-artists and their vile apologists. I'm not very religious myself, but I do respect and admire the consistent themes of compassion and forgiveness that runs through Jesus' words. He came across people trying to stone an alleged adultress. What were his amazingly wise words? Something about those without sin should cast the first stone. Made them stop and think, versus just bludgeon mindlessly and revel in spilled blood, as per Islam's example even today.

And what was in it for Jesus? Did he take part in land-grabbing, stealing other people's hard earned goods, raping women, lusting after little girls? Yes, how dare Gay equate the Christian's prophet with that sick, evil trogladyte that was that Mohammed creep. Mohammed is comparable to Charles Manson and David Koresh, Stalin and Hitler. In fact, he was all 4 of those "men" rolled into one. Humanity's nightmare.

Like it or not, Christianity led the pack with the killing and murdering of thousands of Muslims in the Middle East. Thanks to Christian missionairies, the Church also managed to wipe out entire cultures around the globe in its quest for religious domination.

It's nice to sit smugly at home and think that Muslims are the end-all be-all evildoers of all time, but history is rife with examples of Christians slaughtering thousands of innocent civilians.

Of course, before the Christians it was the Jews wiping out large groups of non believers (read the Old Testament lately?). Moses was no amateur when it came to wiping out entire civilizations.

Yes, there are many Islamic fundamentalists who believe all Christians and Jews should be killed; just as their are many Aryan, anti-Semitic, White Supremacist, and right-wing Christians out there who believe that Jews should be eliminated. What's the difference between the two groups?

I agree with keeping Islamic religious leaders out of our schools if their visit is related to recruitment or or prosletyzing; just as I am against other religious groups being in schools for the same reason. If, however, these groups are invited to inform, educate and provide a historical perspective, then all religious groups should have equal access.

There's an old saying the right winger evangelicals should take to heart - let he who has not sinned....

"I won't think in your church if you don't pray in my schools."

This thread has been buried, info. Not only are you dead wrong, but no one is reading your rant.

This thread has been buried, info. Not only are you dead wrong, but no one is reading your raving.

I read his weak info-less rant Gary.

He is obviously anti-Christian, posing arguments about something he knows little if nothing about and twisting half truths to fit his agenda.

He redefines Christ by his selection of a few atrocious actions perpetrated by people he chooses to label as Christians. InfoWar doesn’t know what Jesus Christ really taught.
So how would he know who’s a Christian and who’s not? This is why his analysis is flawed. InfoWar is forced to dig up ancient history to find something even remotely comparable to Mohammadanism today.

Sincerely
Bar
