Contest: Taqiyya Awareness Week at UCLA!

The Muslim Student Association at UCLA is holding Taqiyya Awareness Week -- I mean, that is, Islamic Awareness Week: "Muslims hope to educate with awareness week," from the Daily Bruin (thanks to Anthony).

Friends, I thought that rather than answer all the distortions and dissimulations in this article, which I have answered on this site and in my books a hundred times before, I'd throw open the floor to you. That's right: let's play Spot the Taqiyya! You answer the assertions made in this article.

Feel free to make use of the Jihad Watch and Dhimmi Watch archives, and note that for some reason some searches will search both, but sometimes only one. So search in both places. And please, no "Muzzies" talk or other speech that is not only objectively offensive but also plays into the hands of those who would destroy us.

The prize: an autographed copy of my book Onward Muslim Soldiers, suitable for light reading, reference on Islam, and doorstop use. Winners, will be announced later. It is best if you don't just quote Qur'an verses to the contrary, unless the claim is explicitly one about Islamic scripture only, as is Malcolm Clark's claim about women's rights in Islam. Anyone can pile up mountains of passages from the Qur'an and Hadith, but in my books and articles I generally go farther: your rebuttal will be more effective if you show some evidence that the verses are understood by mainstream Muslims in the way you are using them.

Post your entries as comments on this thread. Show your awareness of the threat of Islamic jihad -- and have fun.

Now you're talking! One immediate benefit is that I now learned how to spell that confounded word!

P.S. If I link to CAIR website, do I win?

Here is an index of Quranic verses for anyone intersted in learning what the Quran says on this or that -

For example verses on women will be under 'W' and there is an extremely large HELL FIRE section under 'H'.

Good Luck - Really!

http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/quranindex.html

Pass It On, notice that there is no reference to love at all in the L section.

Or to forgivness in the F section

They are trying to sugar coat the religion of peace. The reason? Well its like once you have signed the contract (joined Islam) there is no get out clause (Apostasy should be death under rule of the contract you just signed - Islam).

Yea! Of coure, it is a tolerant, above all peaceful religion! Forget all this Islamophobia, its just misguided lies!

OK , sounds good, can I join?

Yea sure!

... Sometime later..

Can I leave this religion?

Well you could but we would have to kill you!

Haha ! Your so funny!

No. Seriously we would have to kill you.

Oh.

Beat thy wife = Women are revered in Islam

Kill the infidel = Islam is tolerant of all religions

Do not make friends with Christians and Jews = Islam is peaceful and believes all people are children of God

Smite ya at their necks, and smite all of their fingertips of them = Islam condemns murder of innocents

Freestar's Example 1:

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/world/3003714

Birthplace of Islam celebrates openness, diversity: Mecca embraces free thought on Muslim society

Qu’ran 9.73: O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge indeed.

Qu’ran 4.15 If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way.

Freestars Example 2:

http://www.tahlequahdailypress.com/articles/2005/01/24/news/top_stories/bislam.txt

Along with alcohol, pork, and immoral behavior, the taking of life is also forbidden in Islam, and the Islamic suicide bombers we see on the news, Siddiqui said, probably have some explaining to do once they reach the realm of the creator

Qu'ran 8:12 When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.

Qu'ran 8.50: If thou couldst see, when the angels take the souls of the Unbelievers (at death), (How) they smite their faces and their backs, (saying): "Taste the penalty of the blazing Fire-

There may be no forgiveness in the F section
There may be no love in the L section....

But there sure is alot of BS in all the sections

Robert,

I think it will help to focus the conversation if we first come up with a list of "the assertions made in this article".

The only assertion I really see in the article is:

1. "Islam is not a religion of oppression...It's a religion of just rights."

The problem goes deeper than dissimulation. Since Al-Ghazali, Muslims have subordinated facts and reason to Islam.

So when many Muslims denounce terrorism for the benefit of Western ears, they are careful to say "We oppose all forms of terrorism." They often go on to explain that "Israeli terrorism is the worst form of terrorism." Some go even further, explaining that killing Israeli Jews isn't terrorism at all, because Israeli Jews serve in the IDF or will grow up to serve in the IDF.

Muslim apologists remind me of socialists (particularly Trotskyists) who tried to explain away the brutality and failure of Soviet socialism. They told us the Soviet Union wasn't genuine socialism, it was a deformed socialism. But at some point critical thinkers realized that the brutality and failure of Soviet socialism was a direct result of socialist ideology--not a perversion of it.

The same is true for Islam. If Islam were an edifying and peaceful religion, it would produce enlightenment and peace. But it should not surprise anyone that a religion that permits wife-beating engenders honor killings.

Fides,

I see several others. Some are just listings of topics, on which I know what they will say, because it has been said many times before in similar settings. See if you can find them.

Best

If you think Muslims at UCLA are going to be busy dissimulating, consider this taqiyyah orgy at al Guardian this week:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/islam/0,15568,1357556,00.html

Some tasty samples:

We need to begin by working upon memories. From the Middle Ages, Islam has participated in the building of a European, as well as a British, consciousness in the same way that Judaism or Christianity has. From Shakespeare to Hume, the influences of Islamic civilisation on the literary and philosophical traditions of the time are innumerable.
________________________________________________

Muslims can be loyal to Britain only by being loyal to their own worldview. And Britain can only become a genuinely pluralistic and multicultural society by providing the Muslim community with enough space to express itself the way it chooses. Neither Britain nor the Muslim community can assume they know the answers.
________________________________________________

Often an increasingly assertive Muslim identity can be a powerful tool to combat traditionally cultural taboos of communities which are often mistaken as Islamic oppression.

Ah yes, they must educate those with "ignorant" ideas about Muhammadanism. These monkeys can proselytize in the US and Europe but no Christan proselytizing is allowed in Muslim nations. You can get killed for your efforts.

Robert,

I can expand the list as well as the next guy (who has spent the last 4 years reading the words of the Islamists and know their classic arguments by heart). I agree with you that the arguments they will present will be fairly predictable, but then it all just seems like projection on my part. Maybe I give them too much credit, and imagine I will hear something new. All that aside here is my expanded list...

1. "Islam is not a religion of oppression...It's a religion of just rights."

2. Islam doesn't oppress women, it liberates them from the oppresion of other societies.

3. The advances of the west all stem from Islamic scholarship. The West owes everything it has to Islam.

4. Muslims love Jesus just like Christians do, so can't we all just get along? (or submit). This will most likely include a sub-topic on how much muslims revere Mary, gee just like Christians! The quran even has a whole chapter dedicated just to Mary!

5. Only Islam can give you true liberty and freedom from oppresive man-made laws. The "freedoms of Islam", now that is pure doublespeak ala 1984!

6. "Confessions of a Convert" - this will probably cover every Dawah argument out there, from how false and corrupt all other religions are, to how Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world.

BTW, the first excerpt above is from a piece by the Orwellian Godfather of taqiyya, Tariq Ramadan.

We need to begin by working upon memories

Indeed!

Ok.. :)

"The terms "Islamic terrorist" and "Muslim extremist" are common in the news and public arena these days."

The terms are actually being sanitized to the point that none of them really bear any meaning.. both sides have thrown the terms around in so many different ways, that none of them are understood anymore.. the common phrase now is just a generic 'militant'.

"Not so often heard is the view of Islam that the Muslim Student Association will present to the UCLA campus this week."

Not so often heard, as is not so often present. but after years of hatred and violence, Islam is realizing that while America may still have the fighting instinct, we lack reasoning.. the masses can be duped.. The propaganda war is much more dangerous here than physical acts of violence..

"During Islamic Awareness Week, which begins today and will last through Friday, Muslim students will present their religion as a tolerant, just one and highlight the contribution Islam has made to society."

As opposed to trying to present it as a tolerant, just religion all the time, by actions.. Muslim students will set up displays, and hand out carefully printed and worded materials. Peace signs will be plentiful...

'"I think one of the main goals is to bridge a gap between the general UCLA community and the Muslim (community)," said Sami Hasan, president of MSA.
"One of the causes for this gap is misunderstanding, Humkar said. "A lot of people just don't have any knowledge about Islam ... they have a lot of preconceptions and stereotypes." '

Well that would be because Mohammed instructed his followers not to take the quran to foreign lands.. people may read it, understand it, and banish it, before it has a chance to set in.. Mohammed understood his own stupidity.. he knew he was a fraud and exposure scared him, as it does with most overblown egos.

"We, as Muslims on campus, are out ... to reiterate that Islam is not a religion of oppression," said Adam Elsayed, a third-year transfer student and member of MSA who helped organize the events."

Reiterating that oppression is not Islamic, when the Islamic parts of the world are some of the most oppressed anywhere.. Islamics oppressing Islamics.. the entire society based on and controlled by the religion.

"Humkar, who wears the traditional Muslim headdress know as the hijab, said the practice is not one of oppression but is a custom she and many other women prefer.
"It was my own choice to cover," Humkar said. "It's out of modesty. ... I force people to see me for my mind."

No. It's your own choice to cover *here* because this is America and you have the freedom to make that choice. In Iran you'll wear it out of fear of tempting a man into raping you, and then forcing him to kill you for your tempting ways..

"On Wednesday evening, along with a speaker on the freedoms that exist in Islam, there will be a lecture on why women choose to wear the hijab. "

Wow.. a whole evening dedicated to freedoms... (but then cut in half..)

"MSA will also use this week to highlight the similarities between Islam and Christianity by discussing the important role the figure of Jesus plays in each religion."

Exactly as Mohammed did when he twisted a few old bible stories, to try and lend himself some credibility.. there'll be a couple bible verses taken out of context.. (which is a whole different arguement since the bible actually has context) to try and say that Mohammed was predicted.. I wonder if they'll use the ones that foreshadow Islam attempting to destroy the world.. Prolly not..

"The good thing is I do feel UCLA students are ... open-minded," Humkar said. "I think this will actually promote a lot of education."

I hope so..

I'll start by addressing the taqiyya in the Daily Bruin's article. We have a taqiyya two-fer here, but I'll try and address them both at the same time, since they are interrelated:

"We, as Muslims on campus, are out ... to reiterate that Islam is not a religion of oppression," said Adam Elsayed, a third-year transfer student and member of MSA who helped organize the events. "It's a religion of just rights."

TAQIYYA Item #1A:
"Islam is not a religion of oppression"
TAQIYYA Item #1B:
"It's a religion of just rights."

TRUTH:
"Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection." Sura 9:29

OK, Infidels - let me break this down for you in contemporary American lingo - this passage from the Muslim Holy Book, the Qur'an, means that Allah has commanded the Faithful to fight you until you are "in a state of subjection" and you cough up the tribute (jizya)- be it known that you may slapped upside the head when you pay up, it's part of the deal. Got that? And no showing up on ol' Silver packin' your sweet, pearl-handled Colt .45's, Cowboy - that's all prohibited. You are, on the other hand, encouraged to bring your voter registration card. While you're paying the Caliph's henchman your "protection" money, turn that into him, too - you won't be needing that anymore. One more thing, remember, no back talk - Caliphate don't play that game. One smart crack out of you and you get what the Harbis got, and you don't want that, do you? Better to live on your knees than to die standing up, eh? Of course, if you're a pretty girl, you might not have to worry about all that. They've made special provisions for the ladies.
By the way, would you like to meet some of my dhimmi friends? Here's a few pictures they sent me:
http://www.dhimmi.com/victimsgallery.htm
I have dhimmi friends in Sudan, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan - all over the place. Even France. Isn't that cool?
No??
Well, what IS cool, is that you don't have to stay a dhimmi if you don't want to. I have friends whose families used to be dhimmis in Europe, the Middle East and India, but they decided that they had a much better idea of what "just rights" constituted, so they went out and bought themselves new Colt .45's and horses and rode into town and took their voter registration cards back from a bunch of dudes called the Foot-Rests. The Foot-Rests were then driven back to Furniture Country, which was later renamed in honor of a large North American bird that is widely consumed in the United States on Thanksgiving.
Ok, so my history lesson sucks, but at least it doesn't suck as much as Dhimmitude - and don't you forget it.
If I win, I promise not to use my autographed copy of "Onward Muslim Soldiers" as a doorstop. I will keep it, and cherish it, and use my old unautographed copy for a doorstop!

OK, I'd like a shot at that book.

Muslim students will present their religion as a tolerant, just one...

Tolerance flows from the uniquely Western idea of freedom of religion. There is no room in Islam for this. At most, Muslims are instructed to allow Jews and Christians to live as second-class citizens, while polytheists, idolaters, and non-believers must be put to death.

to educate the community on Islam and show that Muslims are not different from other students.

Actually, this is just an exercise in exploiting politically-correct thought to disarm potential opponents.

One of the causes for this gap is misunderstanding, Humkar said. "A lot of people just don't have any knowledge about Islam ... they have a lot of preconceptions and stereotypes."

Again, using Western aversion to "preconceptions" and "stereotypes" to elevate Islam, the religion of preconceptions and stereotypes.

One of the main points MSA will make this week is that Islam is not an oppressive religion, as it is sometimes perceived.

In other words, "Pay no attention to oppressive Muslim societies and beliefs." Another propaganda ploy.

"It's a religion of just rights."

To be sure, Islam has many greivances--chief among them the fact that it does not yet rule the world. Islam does not recognize individual rights, and use of the term "just rights" is a tipoff that what is referred to is something other than the "rights" touted by the West.

Humkar, who wears the traditional Muslim headdress know as the hijab, said the practice is not one of oppression but is a custom she and many other women prefer.

This is an attempt to cover up (pun intended) the fact that women in Muslim countries and societies such as Iran and Saudi Arabia are forced by religious police to "cover."

" ... I force people to see me for my mind."

A ludicrous attempt at portraying Islam as a force for feminism. The truth is that under islam women are forced to cover because they are seen as a temptation (for men) to evil.

On Wednesday evening, along with a speaker on the freedoms that exist in Islam...

The only freedom that exists in Islam is the "freedom" to submit.

MSA will also use this week to highlight the similarities between Islam and Christianity by discussing the important role the figure of Jesus plays in each religion.

This is a traditional ploy for winning Christian converts. Islam denies fundamental Christian beliefs. Nor do I see any genuine respect for Jesus Christ, who promoted "turn the other cheek," in a religion that promotes obligation to jihad (including military jihad).

By having an event dedicated to the Muslims' relationship with Jesus, members of MSA "hope to bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam," Hasan said.

No, they hope to win converts. Failing that, they would settle for promoting the lie that Christianity is more closely related to Islam than to Judaism.

"People come away from Islamic Awareness Week a lot more curious about Islam, and even some of the Muslims, they start to come around more," Hasan said of his experiences in past years.

Note the goal is not to encourage tolerance, but to elevate Islam and strengthen the commitment of Muslims. The giveaway is that there is no corollary about encouraging Muslims to be more curious about Christianity and Judaism.

In the past there have also been some less positive responses to the events of Islamic Awareness Week – last year offensive flyers that included sketches of terrorists and suicide bombers were put on MSA signboards by unknown individuals.

Non-Muslims are supposed to conclude that it's non-Muslim extremists who have created some sort of false link between Islam and terrorists/suicide bombers.

"The good thing is I do feel UCLA students are ... open-minded," Humkar said. "I think this will actually promote a lot of education."

Sorry, but "open-mindedness" is definitely not an Islamic value. Again, this is exploiting Western ideas and terms to whitewash and elevate Islam.

"The good thing is I do feel UCLA students are ... open-minded," Humkar said. "I think this will actually promote a lot of education."

Would the open-minded among them include those who shriek that they want martyrdom and condemn Israel -- a country where no religions are banned and women and homosexuals have their rights respected, as a racist apartheidist state -- while they cheer on the xenophobic, homophobes of the PA?

"Not so often heard is the view of Islam that the Muslim Student Association will present to the UCLA campus this week."

MSA and CAIR and other Muslim apologists maintain a constant mantra that the image presented of Islam is a distorted one and that the true, peaceful image of Islam is never presented. This point of view is expressed in virtually every press release or public statement. This is the Muslim method of pressuring the media to continue to present a rosy image of Islam.

"We don't want to do the same old topics. We think new people can bring new topics and they can put in their own input," said Faryal Humkar, a third-year transfer student and member of MSA who helped organize the week's events."

This is humorous. Of course they are going to repeat all the same old topics: Islam is a religion of peace, justice, racial harmony, that respects women etc.

Though the topics and the organizers may change from year to year, the purpose of the events remains constant – to educate the community on Islam and show that Muslims are not different from other students.

"educate the community on Islam" i.e. dawa, proselytizing. Classic Taqiyya. It is as though an evangelical Christian group were to promote a revival meeting as educating the the community on Christianity. "Show that Muslims are not different" - present a sanitized version of Islam that ignores any mention of a worldwide caliphate or dhimmi status for non-Muslims.

One of the causes for this gap is misunderstanding, Humkar said. "A lot of people just don't have any knowledge about Islam ... they have a lot of preconceptions and stereotypes."

Once again, deny the reality that the mainstream media has bombarded us with positive images of Muslims since 9/11, and repeat the mantra of Muslims as being misunderstood or stereotyped. Anything critical of Islam will be dismissed as based in ignorance or bigotry.

"We, as Muslims on campus, are out ... to reiterate that Islam is not a religion of oppression," said Adam Elsayed, a third-year transfer student and member of MSA who helped organize the events. "It's a religion of just rights."

The treatment of Islamic women is one common Muslim practice that people point to as being oppressive, so the practice of women "covering," as Humkar called it, will be a central theme of the week.

This is interesting in that it shows that Muslims, at least those on American campuses, are sensitive to the prevailing fashionably leftist campus lip service to oppression and women's rights. It also shows that they understand that they are vulnerable on these issues.

Humkar, who wears the traditional Muslim headdress know as the hijab, said the practice is not one of oppression but is a custom she and many other women prefer.

As far as I know, though traditionally Muslim women do cover themselves, the hijab specifically is not an old tradition but rather a recent innovation.

"It was my own choice to cover," Humkar said. "It's out of modesty. ... I force people to see me for my mind."

This isn't taqiyya, but rather standard apologetics for modest women's dress. Really not much different from what you'd hear an orthodox Jewish woman say about wearing modest clothing or covering her hair.

On Wednesday evening, along with a speaker on the freedoms that exist in Islam, there will be a lecture on why women choose to wear the hijab.

Interesting how they would have a lecture about freedoms that exist in Islam, when the fundamental meaning of the word Islam is "submission", submission to the will of Allah, but also submission to the rule of Islam.

MSA will also use this week to highlight the similarities between Islam and Christianity by discussing the important role the figure of Jesus plays in each religion.

By having an event dedicated to the Muslims' relationship with Jesus, members of MSA "hope to bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam," Hasan said.

Not classical taqiyya, but still deceptive. More like Jews For Jesus. An effort to blur the lines between Islam and Christianity so nominal Christians might be attracted to Islam. The very real differences in the Christian and Muslim views of Jesus (Islam considers belief in Jesus as divine to be idolatrous) will never be discussed at Islamic Awareness Week.

Unlike many of MSA's other events, Islamic Awareness Week is designed for non-Muslims, for those who may otherwise never have the opportunity or inclination to learn about Islam.

At first glace this doesn't appear to be taqiyya but rather close to the truth. However, no mention is made of proselytizing or conversion ("reversion" in Islamic jargon). So it really is an attempt to camoflage the real intent of the event.

"It teaches them some tools they need to put on events and organize," Hasan said. "They feel much more involved within the community and they're much more able to take on larger tasks."

Now this might actually be the truth. The activists of the MSA indeed use events like this to train the next crop of Muslim campus activists, as well as promote the group to other, less involved Muslims on campus. Remember, a major role of the MSA is to intimidate and drown out any voices of true Muslim moderation and just continue the party mantras.

In the past, the events of Islamic Awareness week have attracted Muslims and non-Muslims alike and given both an increased interest in the religion and culture, Hasan said.

"People come away from Islamic Awareness Week a lot more curious about Islam, and even some of the Muslims, they start to come around more," Hasan said of his experiences in past years.

More of the party line that Islam is the fastest growing religion. Muslims are forever going on about how non-Muslims have so much interest in Islam and always try to present that image to the general public. Think about how unseemly it would be if rabbis started bragging about how many converts there are in their congregations.

In the past there have also been some less positive responses to the events of Islamic Awareness Week – last year offensive flyers that included sketches of terrorists and suicide bombers were put on MSA signboards by unknown individuals.

Note how there was no explanation as to how the flyers were characterized as "offensive", other than that they had images of terrorists and suicide bombers. This is more subtle propaganda, in accord with the general MSA/CAIR line that it's offensive to ever show Muslims as terrorists or in a bad light.

"The good thing is I do feel UCLA students are ... open-minded," Humkar said. "I think this will actually promote a lot of education."

After characterizing dissent from their views as "offensive", the use of terms like open-minded or education takes on something that seems more in place in Orwell than in a sura or hadith. As Christopher Hitchens has pointed out, the totalitarian nature of Islamic fundamentalism is exactly what Orwell was warning us about.

"Muslim students will present their religion as a tolerant, just one.."

OK, I'm game. Here is a stab (pun intended) at some opening remarks for the program.

Welcome Pagans! Did you know the Quran tells Muslims to:

kill the disbelievers wherever they find them (2:191),
murder them and treat them harshly (9:123),
slay them (9:5),
fight with them (8:65),
strive against them with great endeavor (25:52),
be stern with them because they belong to hell (66:9), and
to strike off their heads; then after making a “wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives” for ransom (Q;47:4)?

You see, we are very tolerant and just, so long as you agree....

I want to extend a special 'Welcome' to our Christian friends! Did you know the Quran tells Muslims to:

humiliate you and subdue you, and impose on you a penalty tax (9:29).

That's the good news. The bad news (for you) is that the Quran is alien to freedom of belief and recognizes no other religion but Islam (3:85). It relegates those who disbelieve to hell (5:10), calls them najis (filthy, untouchable, impure) (9:28), orders the Muslims to fight them until no other religion except Islam is left (2:193), to slay or crucify or cut the hands and the feet of the unbelievers, and to expel them from the land with disgrace.

But wait -- don't leave! There is so much more!

Disbelievers shall
have a great punishment in the world hereafter (5:34),
drink boiling water (14:17),
be engulfed in smoke and flames and if they implore relief they will be granted water like melting brass that will scald their faces (18:29) and
"garments of fire shall be cut and there shall be poured over their heads boiling water whereby whatever is in their bowels and skin shall be dissolved and they will be punished with hooked iron rods” (22:19).

Oh, and by the way, we are also prohibited to associate with you non-believers -- even if you were our own brothers and fathers (9:23), (3:28).

Now, a special shout-out 'Welcome' to the Ladies!

Of course, you are inferior to men and if found disobedient your husbands have the right to beat you (Q;4:34). But wait -- that's right-- there's more! Your punishment for disobeying your husbands does not end there, because after you die you will go to hell (Q;66:10)!

Heared enough? Don't leave -- there's more! Here's the best part!

The Quran denies women's equal right to their inheritance (Q;4:11-12), regards them as imbeciles; decrees that their testimony is not admissible in a court of law unless it is accompanied with the testimony of a man (Q;2:282). This means that if you are raped, you cannot accuse your rapist unless you can produce a male witness.

And Ladies -- I hope you don't mind sharing your husbands. Muhammad allowed the Muslim men to marry up to four wives (although he himself had a score of them) and gave them license to enjoy their "right-hand possessions" (women captured in wars), as many as they can capture or afford to buy (Q;4:3), even if the woman is married before being captured (Q;4:24).

Last, but not least, a special tolerant "welcome" to our Jooooooooooooooowish friends!

The Quaran teaches us all about the Joooooooooooooos.
Here is my "top 20" list of what we think of you. (A "top 10" list just wouldn't fully express the full measure of our tolerance).

1. They used to fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah. Allah Almighty says: “ That is because they say: We have no duty to the Gentiles. They speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly.” (Al-`Imran:75) Also: “The Jews say: Allah's hand is fettered. Their hands are fettered and they are accursed for saying so. Nay, but both His hands are spread out wide in bounty. He bestoweth as He will.” (Al-Ma`idah:64)

In another verse Almighty Allah says: “Verily Allah heard the saying of those who said, (when asked for contributions to the war): "Allah, forsooth, is poor, and we are rich! We shall record their saying with their slaying of the Prophets wrongfully and We shall say: Taste ye the punishment of burning!” (Al-`Imran:181)

2. They love to listen to lies. Concerning this Allah says: “and of the Jews: listeners for the sake of falsehood, listeners on behalf of other folk” (Al-Ma’idah: 41)

3. Disobeying Almighty Allah and never observing His commands. Allah says: “And because of their breaking their covenant, We have cursed them and made hard their hearts.” (Al-Ma’idah: 13)

4. Disputing and quarreling. This is clear in the verse that reads: “Their Prophet said unto them: Lo! Allah hath raised up Saul to be a king for you. They said: How can he have kingdom over us when we are more deserving of the kingdom than he is, since he hath not been given wealth enough?” (Al-Baqarah: 247)

5. Hiding the truth and standing for misleading. This can be understood from the verse that reads: “…distort the Scripture with their tongues, that ye may think that what they say is from the Scripture, when it is not from the Scripture.” (Al-`Imran: 78)

6. Staging rebellion against the Prophets and rejecting their guidance. This is clear in the verse: “And when ye said: O Moses! We will not believe in thee till we see Allah plainly.” (Al-Baqarah: 55)

7. Hypocrisy. In a verse, we read: “And when they fall in with those who believe, they say: We believe; but when they go apart to their devils they declare: Lo! we are with you; verily we did but mock.” (Al-Baqarah: 14) In another verse, we read: “Enjoin ye righteousness upon mankind while ye yourselves forget (to practice it)? And ye are readers of the Scripture! Have ye then no sense?” (Al-Baqarah: 44)

8. Giving preference to their own interests over the rulings of religion and the dictates of truth. Allah says: “…when there cometh unto you a messenger (from Allah) with that which ye yourselves desire not, ye grow arrogant, and some ye disbelieve and some ye slay?” (Al-Baqarah: 87)

9. Wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them. This is clear in the verse that reads: “Many of the People of the Scripture long to make you disbelievers after your belief, through envy on their own account, after the truth hath become manifest unto them.” (Al-Baqarah: 109)

10. They feel pain to see others in happiness and are gleeful when others are afflicted with a calamity. This is clear in the verse that reads: “If a lucky chance befall you, it is evil unto them, and if disaster strike you they rejoice thereat.” (Al-`Imran:120)

11. They are known of their arrogance and haughtiness. They claimed to be the sons and of Allah and His beloved ones. Allah tells us about this in the verse that reads: “The Jews and Christians say: We are sons of Allah and His loved ones.” (Al-Ma’idah: 18)

12. Utilitarianism and opportunism are among their innate traits. This is clear in the verse that reads: “And of their taking usury when they were forbidden it, and of their devouring people's wealth by false pretences.” (An-Nisa’: 161)

13. Their impoliteness and indecent way of speech is beyond description. Referring to this, the Qur’anic verse reads: “Some of those who are Jews change words from their context and say: "We hear and disobey; hear thou as one who heareth not" and "Listen to us!" distorting with their tongues and slandering religion. If they had said: "We hear and we obey; hear thou, and look at us" it had been better for them, and more upright. But Allah hath cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, save a few.” (An-Nisa’:46)

14. It is easy for them to slay people and kill innocents. Nothing in the world is dear to their hearts than shedding blood and murdering human beings. They never give up this trait even with the Messengers and the Prophets. Allah says: “…and slew the prophets wrongfully.” (Al-Baqarah: 61)

15. They are merciless and heartless. In this meaning, the Qur’anic verse explains: “Then, even after that, your hearts were hardened and became as rocks, or worse than rocks, for hardness.” (Al-Baqarah: 74)

16. They never keep their promises or fulfill their words. Almighty Allah says: “Is it ever so that when ye make a covenant a party of you set it aside? The truth is, most of them believe not.” (Al-Baqarah: 100)

17. They rush hurriedly to sins and compete in transgression. Allah says: “They restrained not one another from the wickedness they did. Verily evil was that they used to do!” (Al-MA’idah:79)

18. Cowardice and their love for this worldly life are their undisputable traits. To this, the Qur’an refers when saying: “Ye are more awful as a fear in their bosoms than Allah. That is because they are a folk who understand not. They will not fight against you in a body save in fortified villages or from behind walls. Their adversity among themselves is very great. Ye think of them as a whole whereas their hearts are divers.” (Al-Hashr:13-14) Allah Almighty also says: “And thou wilt find them greediest of mankind for life and (greedier) than the idolaters.” (Al-Baqarah:96)

19. Miserliness runs deep in their hearts. Describing this, the Qur’an states: “Or have they even a share in the Sovereignty? Then in that case, they would not give mankind even the speck on a date stone.” (An-Nisa’:53)

20. Distorting Divine Revelation and Allah’s Sacred Books. Allah says in this regard: “Therefore woe be unto those who write the Scripture with their hands anthem say, "This is from Allah," that they may purchase a small gain therewith. Woe unto them for that their hands have written, and woe unto them for that they earn thereby.” (Al-Baqara: 79)

After this clear explanation, we would like to note that these are but some of the most famous traits of the Jews as described in the Qur’an. They have revolted against the Divine ordinances, distorted what has been revealed to them and invented new teachings which, they claimed, were much more better than what has been recorded in the Torah. It was for these traits that they found no warm reception in all countries where they tried to reside. Rather, they would either be driven out or live in isolation. It was Almighty Allah who placed on them His Wrath and made them den of humiliation due to their transgression. Almighty Allah told us that He’d send to them people who’d pour on them rain of severe punishment that would last till the Day of Resurrection. All this gives us glad tidings of the coming victory of Muslims over them once Muslims stick to strong faith and belief in Allah and adopt the modern means of technology.

So, let me conclude my opening remarks by saying "welcome"!

By having an event dedicated to the Muslims' relationship with Jesus, members of MSA "hope to bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam," Hasan said.

To propose that Christianity and Islam can be bridged through Jesus is taqiyya. How does one bridge the gap between Christianity's Jesus, the Messiah, and Islam's Isa, the Prophet?

How does one reconcile the fact that Christianity considers Jesus the "Messenger" and Islam considers Mohammed the "Messenger"?

How does one reconcile that the doctrines of Islam are in no way incorporated into the doctrines of Christianity, which preceded Islam by over 6 centuries? Christianity is an extension of Judaism, not Islam. Islam, on the other hand, claims to be an extension of Judaism and Christianity, despite the fact that its doctrines directly contradict the Old and New Testaments (ex. in Christianity and Judaism, the First Commandment is Law. In Islam, Sura 9:5 is Law. The two are not reconcilable.)

Third, and not least important, Christianity is based on the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies of Jesus Christ and his crucifixion and resurrection. Islam, on the other hand, denies Jesus (Isa) was ever crucified, much less was resurrected from the dead on the third day, as foretold in the prophecies:

"And their saying: Surely we have killed the Messiah, Isa son of Marium, the messenger of Allah; and they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Isa) and most surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not for sure."
Qur'an 4:157

Early Christian scholars recognized that a move, such as Islam's, to deny the crucifixion of the Christ would be a move to delegitimize Christianity itself. Islam has made this move, and Mohammed apparently understood this to be necessary to subordinate Christianity to Islam. Consider this from the Muslim perspective:

"The word Christian is not a valid word, for there is no religion of Christianity according to Islam". — www.answering-christianity.com

Dr. Mark Durie elaborates on this here:

http://answering-islam.org.uk/Intro/islamic_jesus.html

"For most faithful Muslims ‘Isa is the only Jesus they know. But if one accepts this Muslim ‘Jesus’, then one also accepts the Qur’an: one accepts Islam. Belief in this ‘Isa is won at the cost of the libel that Jews and Christians have corrupted their scriptures, a charge that is without historical support. Belief in this ‘Isa implies that much of Christian and Jewish history is in fact Islamic history.
The Jesus of the gospels is the base upon which Christianity developed. By Islamicizing him, and making of him a Muslim prophet who preached the Qur’an, Islam destroys Christianity and takes over all its history. It does the same to Judaism."

This is called supercessionism.

Bridgeing Christianity and Islam is an exclusively Muslim invention and undertaking - Christians are not the least bit interested in reconciling their faith to the deligitimization and supercessionism that it is subjected to in Islam.

"Taqiyya"
Let me just say that I never knew what this word really mean; even though I was born in Egyptos. Living in the greatest country God have created “America”, gave me the chance to read a lot more about islam, especially information I would be killed for back home.

“Taqiyya” is to pretend and hide one’s true colors to guarantee one’s safety; it just sounds like cowardice to me. I wonder how many muslims are living among us who follow al-Taqiyya.

"al-Taqiyya is with the tongue only; he who has been COERCED into saying that which angers Allah (SWT), and his heart is comfortable (i.e., his TRUE faith has NOT been shaken.), then (saying that which he has been coerced to say) will NOT harm him (at all); (because) al- Taqiyya is with the tongue only, (NOT the heart)."
It makes me wonder if faith in the heart, so why would muslim converts join islam just by repeating bunch of words “El Shehadah”

Is that what those savage killers did to my people (Armanious family, God bless their souls) in Jersey City, pretending to have interest in Christianity; then to select the perfect time to commit their gruesome act. What bothers me is that there were no screams for help, except for little Monica who ran and locked her self in the bathroom.

Every year, back home when I was in school, during Christmas & Easter, the muslim student union (association) use to hang banners and signs accusing us "Christians" of celebrating pagan feasts and worshiping three gods; how about that for religious tolerance.

"The treatment of Islamic women is one common Muslim practice that people point to as being oppressive, so the practice of women "covering," as Humkar called it, will be a central theme of the week."

To present "covering" as a major issue concerning women in Islam is in itself taqiyya.

The "central" issues women are confronting in the Islamic world concern equal rights and domestic violence. The hijab is a relative non-issue, ask any Middle Eastern woman.
As we have seen in Afghanistan, what women are interested in are going to school, being able to work and having equal protection before the law in domestic and civil affairs. They are interested in being the masters of their own destinies, not beholden to men for their financial and civil liberties. The appeals from Afghani women to human rights groups during the reign of the Taliban did not concern the hijab - the burqa was something the West fixated on as a symbol of oppression - to focus on this as an important issue is a distraction from what truly concerns Mulsim women.
If you want to address the treatment of women, you have to address the inequities and violence that is permitted in Islam, not the hijab. To make it a "central theme of the week" is a joke.

Here is my entry with the taqiyaa statments in quotes as headings for each of the explanations.

"Muslim students will present their religion as a tolerant..."

Tolerant of what? Surah 9:5 says to "slay the idolators wherever you find them," unless they convert to Islam. Surah 9:29 says to "Fight those who do not beleive in Allah"; that is unless those who are Christians or Jews, ..."pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection." Both of these verses have been understood historically and contemporarily by Muslims as meaning the Christians, Jews, and polytheists are enemies of Islam The historical conquest, enslavement, and taxation of non-Muslim peoples by the Islamic Caliphate has been well documented [1].

Even now, Islamic clerics reaffirm this understanding of these verses. For instance, recently Sheikh Marzouq Salem Al-Ghamdi has stated, "The Jews and Christians are infidels, enemies of Allah, his Messenger, and the believers… How can we draw near to these infidels," and that, "If the infidels live among the Muslims, in accordance with the conditions set out by the Prophet – there is nothing wrong with it provided they pay Jizya (tax) to the Islamic treasury." That doesn't sound very tolerant. Also, Sheikh Ahmad Abu Halabiya exhorted "Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, in any country. Fight them, wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them. Wherever you are, kill those Jews and those Americans who are like them – and those who stand by them." Nope no tolerance there either [2]. The statements by these clerics are consistent with the noted surahs of the Koran.

"...and highlight the contribution Islam has made to society."
"...Islam is not a religion of oppression."
"It's a religion of just rights."

These statements can all be commented on together. If we consider philosophies that contribute to a definition of basic human rights as contributing to society, can we consider Islam to be amongst the contributors? We have already seen that this answer is "No," based on the afforementioned choices of non-Muslims under Islamic rule: taxation, conversion, or death. Furthermore, the mandates of Islamic jursiprudence form the basis of Islamic writs of human rights. For example the 1990 Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam declares:

Article 24 All the rights and freedoms stipulated in this Declaration are subject to the Islamic Shari'ah.
Article 25
The Islamic Shari'ah is the only source of reference for the explanation or clarification to any of the articles of this Declaration.[3]

Are these consistent with the human rights stipulated by Universal Declaration of Human Rights? One mandate of Sharia is amputation of the hand as a punishemnt for theft (Surah 5:38). There are additional mandates such as stoning for adultery ( Sahih Muslim: B17 Chapter 3) and beating of one's wife for disobedience (Surah 4:34; Sahih Muslim: B17 Chapter 1). Both of these latter mandates were well understood by Abdelkader Bouziane of France who defended stoning and beating of adulterous wives in the monthly Lyon Mag [4]. Hani Ramadan, the brother of Tariq Ramadan also got in trouble for defending stoning of adulterers [5]. These laws are not just matters of theoretical debate. Islamic countries with Sharia such as Iran have been in the news for prosecuting those who violate these mandates [6-7]. There are additional mandates of Sharia that are in direct conflict with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, such that.

"...traditional Muslim headdress know as the hijab.....the practice is not one of oppression but is a custom she and many other women prefer."

Surah 24:31 ("And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms..") makes it sound as if the head-covering is not really a customary preference but a mandate of Islamic scripture for believing women. News reports have noted cases where Muslim husbands force their wives to wear the hijab according to this mandate of Islamic scripture. For instance Hisham Diab "insisted" his new wife "wear the hijab, a head scarf worn by certain devout Muslim women, and conform to other strict Islamic customs [8]." A recent case of petitioning a Tennessee school to allow a female student to wear a hijab was predicated upon the premise that, "as a Muslim, the student is 'required to cover her hair in public. Ms. Smith stated that despite numerous efforts to explain to you the importance of the headscarf in her faith, you always found an excuse to hinder her.[9]'" She said the headscarf was "required", not preferred custom.

"...an event dedicated to the Muslims' relationship with Jesus, members of MSA "hope to bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam."

The Judeo-Christian Bible declares that Jesus is the son of God, and that He is God. The Koran (5:17) declares those who follow this teaching are disbelievers. Moreover, the Koran (5:51) says to not befriend Christians. As noted eralier, Sheikh Marzouq Salem Al-Ghamdi understands the nature of this command by expresing "How can we draw near to these infidels?" [2] The MSA must have the answer to the Sheikh's question, but it apparently isn't in the Koran.

The most blantant general deception to my mind is that the entire 'Awareness' project is in fact Da'wa (the Call to Islam), whose aim is precisely the same as the '[Islamic] terrorists', those brutes causing all the 'misunderstanding of Islam', you know, Bin Laden and company (New York, Washington, Nigeria, Tunisia, Mardrid ect. etc.), Hamas, (or are they a 'misunderstood' political movement?...oh well), Hezbollah (or are they a political party?), Islamic Jihad, all those mad bombers in Iraq, JI, the Bali bombers, the 'Chechen jihadists' (those folks responsible for Beslan, Moscow, a couple of ariliners) etc., etc. And what is that aim? The spread of Islam, removing obstacles for the spread of Islam, the defense of Islam, however one wants to put it.

So, the MSA and the 'terrorists', who are so different from the 'real Muslims', are on exactly the same page: it is simply a question of methodology. Or is it simply a question of emphasis? Are the bloody jihadists like the bad cops of the Qur'an (Allah's more violent moments) and the smiling MSA Da'wa crowd like the good cops? However one answers, the purpose of the happy, happy Awareness Week at UCLA and Bin Laden remain the same, and all attend fastidiously to their heavy religious obligation: the obligation to bring about the submission of Infidels to Allah by hook or by crook.

By God, a veritable tag team match against Infidels. Surfers beware!

The 'justice' of Islam is the justice of Sharia, which is utterly inconsistent with Western standards of justice from the principle of equality (man/woman; Muslim/Infidel) to principles of fairness, to truth-telling, which can lawfully be avoided in promoting the faith.

Jesus taught followers to love enemies, the Qur'an teach Muslims to hate enemies, e.g. Infidels who oppose the faith are, by definition, enemies.

The liberty of Islam is the liberty to obey the commands of Allah and accept the teachings of the prophet; any action inconsistent with these tenents (for instance, opposing the authority of the Qur'an, wearing a miniskirt (or any other 'immodest act' on the part of a woman, or having a beer) is not only forbidden but subject to harsh punishment (including such methods as lapidation and dismemberment for certain offenses). Hence, liberty and pursuit of happiness protected by the US Constition is impossible in Islam.

Outta time...

With all due respect Mr. Spencer I am not a scholarly fellow nor did I graduate from high school(GED) but I have read and studied, searched the web,etc. to know thy enemy and have become quite knowlegable but I cant participate in the writing part here but imagine if you could see it in action IE: During the interregation he admitted that allah was really a girl and that he personally likes little boys.

This would be a form of Taqiyya would it not?
Also would be good practice for those wishing to learn, hey wait a minute we may have created a marketing blitz.

"It is done to prevent the new converts from seeing the real face of Islam; at least until their faith or mental conditioning is strong enough to make them turn against their own country and people.

A good example is the growing influence of Islamists in the Americas. On the one hand, American embassies, trade facilities, soldiers and intelligence infrastructures are under attack (but denounced as un-Islamic for the benefit of the new American converts).

On the other hand, the multiplying Islamic community (due to illegal immigration, paper marriages, religious visas granted to the religious men) attempts to pass itself off as "peace loving" and patriotic. In their own circles, the same community will liberally and violently denounce America, the West and its values (freedom, individualism, secularism, capitalism, scientific materialism, benign rehabilitation of criminals, prevention of cruelty against animals, women and gay rights).

"I'd die for my cause, wouldn't I be willing to lie for it?"

~ Yasser Arafat

~~~~And for fun ~~~
Muslim students will present their religion as a tolerant, just one and highlight the contribution Islam has made to society.
( We want to buffalo the public into thinking beheadings are just a crazy little anamoly that occurs infrequently in Islam. This is un-Islamic. Besides, I don't want to point fingers but I think the Jews have something to do with it.)
One of the main points MSA will make this week is that Islam is not an oppressive religion, as it is sometimes perceived.
(Islam isn't oppressive and if you disagree we'll cut your effing head off)
"We, as Muslims on campus, are out ... to reiterate that Islam is not a religion of oppression," said Adam Elsayed, a third-year transfer student and member of MSA who helped organize the events. "It's a religion of just rights
(We figure if we keep repeating the big lie you may start to believe it. Islam is a religion of rights -- Muslims get rights -- non Muslims don't. Isn't that easy?)
The treatment of Islamic women is one common Muslim practice that people point to as being oppressive, so the practice of women "covering," as Humkar called it, will be a central theme of the week.
(Well, covering women in in large pieces of fabric and turning them into walking tents may seem oppressive to those outside Islam. But our women like this. It's a symbol of our reverence for them. Also the commotion about removing her clitoris is just a misunderstanding of the importance of the clitoris. Goodness sakes, once it's gone she never even misses it! )
Humkar, who wears the traditional Muslim headdress known as the hijab, said the practice is not one of oppression but is a custom she and many other women prefer.
"It was my own choice to cover," Humkar said. "It's out of modesty. ... I force people to see me for my mind."
( It was also my choice to invite another woman into my home to sleep with my husband. She helps me with the dishes. This is a true godsend )
MSA will also use this week to highlight the similarities between Islam and Christianity by discussing the important role the figure of Jesus plays in each religion.
(Mind boggling the similarities between Jesus and Mohammed. Jesus spread the Gospel of Peace and Mohammed raped and plundered for the sake of booty and conquest. Remarkable ...)
By having an event dedicated to the Muslims' relationship with Jesus, members of MSA "hope to bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam," Hasan said
(We want to spread the message to the naive and politically correct Christians that we will get along as long as they give up their identity and religion and join us in killing Jews. It's all for the sake of peace. Taqiyah, or the sword -- the gap is some where in between)
"The good thing is I do feel UCLA students are ... open-minded," Humkar said. "I think this will actually promote a lot of education."
(These gullible Americans are so eager to appease, er understand us that selling them a steaming platter of taqiyah and a nice warm smile will be a cinch! Then we won't have to kill them. Isn't that great?)
Here's the "taqiyya" I've spotted:
The 1st paragraph is objectively true.
The 2nd paragraph is false, but is merely whining and not taqiyya.
The 3rd paragraph:
During Islamic Awareness Week, which begins today and will last through Friday, Muslim students will present their religion as a tolerant, just one ...
... is a blunt confession that the week is dedicated to taqiyya...
...and highlight the contribution Islam has made to society.
That's a crafty piece of taqiyya. As we all know, Islam has made no contributions to society and never intends to; but it is tempting to start arguing the former when the latter is truly the more important matter.
The 4th paragraph looks innocent enough.
The 5th paragraph seems a bit suspicious to me, but I'm not entirely sure why. My best guess is that the concept of that sort of free exchange of ideas doesn't seem to have any parallel in anything else Islamic I've ever heard of.
The 6th paragraph:
Though the topics and the organizers may change from year to year, the purpose of the events remains constant – to educate the community on Islam and show that Muslims are not different from other students.
Translated: "We intend to lie through our teeth about the goals of Islam". The purpose is to mislead the infidels. Any Muslim knows that according to Islam, Muslims are as different from non-Muslims as a Westerner would consider humans and rats. Given the Islamic goal of world domination, I'd say a dedication to that is a difference they have with other students (though it does explain the easy affinity of the political left).
Paragraphs 7 through 11 are pure taqiyya.
Paragraph 12 continues the taqiyya:
One of the causes for this gap is misunderstanding, Humkar said.
... which stops with that sentence. The paragraph continues with an actual truth:
"A lot of people just don't have any knowledge about Islam ... they have a lot of preconceptions and stereotypes."
Of course they have no intention of actually educating anybody who isn't a convert as to what Islam is really about.
Paragraph 13 hopes the taqiyya is successful in deceiving the infidel. Paragraph 14 details one of the main features of this taqiyya, the idea that Islam isn't oppressive. (Yet somehow Islam means "submission", odd that.)
Paragraph 15 is more bull-taqiyya. A "religion of just rights" maybe, if your idea of "just rights" is to enable every Muslim male to be his own petty tyrant.
Paragraph 16 details another prong in the dissimulation strategy, to pretend that the forced concealment of women is somehow human and dignfiying. What they don't mention is that if you can't see her skin, you can't see how badly her husband has been beating her.
Paragraphs 17-18 are a gem:
Humkar, who wears the traditional Muslim headdress know as the hijab, said the practice is not one of oppression but is a custom she and many other women prefer.
"It was my own choice to cover," Humkar said. "It's out of modesty. ... I force people to see me for my mind."
Clearly a lie. Let's see her decide not to wear it and see how long it takes for her male relatives to murder her. There are many ways to dress modestly; why does Islam insist on the one way that also is assured to hide evidence of brutality?
Paragraph 19, nothing wrong with it per se other than the fact that the idea of freedom is like Kryptonite to Islam's Superman. Islam means submission. Freedom is the opposite of that. No matter how much they talk they can't resolve the contradiction.
Paragraphs 20-21 is taqiyya aimed specifically at Christians:
MSA will also use this week to highlight the similarities between Islam and Christianity by discussing the important role the figure of Jesus plays in each religion.
By having an event dedicated to the Muslims' relationship with Jesus, members of MSA "hope to bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam," Hasan said.
I'm sure they will fail to mention that Islam considers both the Old and New Testaments to be corrupted, and that the Koran explicitly states that Muslims are not to take Christians (or Jews) as friends. I wonder why there is no similar effort with regards to Jews and Abraham or Moses? (I wonder facetiously, of course.)
Paragraphs 22-23:
Unlike many of MSA's other events, Islamic Awareness Week is designed for non-Muslims, for those who may otherwise never have the opportunity or inclination to learn about Islam.
But the week also has benefits for the club itself – having students who are new to MSA and the campus plan the events not only provides for a wider range of events and issues, but contributes to building leadership and participation within the group.
In other words, not only is it an opportunity to undermine the infidels with lies, it's good practice for future lying to infidels.
Paragraphs 24-25:
The experience of organizing the awareness week gives new members an opportunity to participate in a meaningful way early on and "get involved and put their foot in" the Muslim and campus community, Humkar said.
Trolling for recruits.
And the responsibility that comes with the job of putting on a week of events gives members leadership experience and makes them more likely to come back and stay actively involved in MSA, Hasan said.
Training for cell leaders.
Paragraph 26:
"It teaches them some tools they need to put on events and organize," Hasan said. "They feel much more involved within the community and they're much more able to take on larger tasks."
The same skills they will need for larger tasks, such as orchestrating a suicide bombing or flying many planes into cities at once.
Paragraph 27 is just fluff.
Paragraphs 28-29 are essentially more about their recruiting.
Paragraph 30 gives me a chuckle... apparently they don't have everybody fooled...
In the past there have also been some less positive responses to the events of Islamic Awareness Week – last year offensive flyers that included sketches of terrorists and suicide bombers were put on MSA signboards by unknown individuals.
But Hasan said that this was not indicative of the campus' overall reaction to the week, and that the general response is a positive one.
... but most are.
Paragraph 31:
"The good thing is I do feel UCLA students are ... open-minded," Humkar said. "I think this will actually promote a lot of education."
My taqiyyah-translator says this means: "We found a lot of suckers this time. Islam WILL dominate the world, these people are too soft and haven't got a chance."
It's no secret that the Koran is filled with admonitions to oppress women and smite the infidels. Anyone who has read just a snippet of that book quickly notices that Islam is not a "Religion of Peace" at all, but is a handbook of violent totalitarianism.
But rather than dwell on Koranic references, let us judge what Islam has wrought in societies where it has ruled for centuries. As Jesus said, "By their fruits ye shall know them."
Unsurprisingly, the more Islamic the society, the more violence and oppression are present. The Taliban blew up ancient Buddhist statues, turned a soccer stadium into a killing field and reduced the status of women into non-persons. Today, women cannot drive cars in Saudi Arabia, nor vote in Kuwait. A woman has no rights to her children and her testimony in court is worth half that of a man. In Bangladesh, a face full of acid is a popular punishment for females thought insufficiently servile: in one case a nine-year-old girl's face was destroyed by an angry adult suitor.
Many Muslims defend the widespread form of torture known as female genital mutilation as a "cultural" behavior rather than an Islamic one. Perhaps, but no Muslim clerics have condemned the practice or done anything to end it.
Whenever someone criticizes a Muslim for beheading or other untoward action, another will pipe up and say in absurdly circular illogic, "A real Muslim couldn't do that so therefore that crime was not committed by a Muslim." Islamic apologists still say the 911 attacks were not committed by Muslims, even though Osama bragged on them and pilots screamed "Allahu Akbar" as they crashed the planes into buildings. Apparently the study of Islam destroys the capacity to reason.
When I see a woman in Islamic dress in this country, I regard her as an affront to our hard-won gender equality. Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton (a severe critic of sexism in Christianity) surely did not fight their entire lives for American women's suffrage so that the slaves of Allah could walk our streets in their veiled chains.
Protestant Christianity at least has renounced its past sexist discrimination: women are now full members of the church, with ordination open to them. And though Muslims claim Jesus as one of their prophets, they have apparently never read his teachings, which stress love and forgiveness.
Robert--
Are you permitting Muslims to enter this contest? They would, of course, have an unfair advantage over the innocent Infidels.
In my examination of taqiyya exhibited in the article Muslims hope to educate with awareness week I will focus only on the following single sentence:
"The treatment of Islamic women is one common Muslim practice that people point to as being oppressive, so the practice of women 'covering,' as Humkar called it, will be a central theme of the week."
Examination of that brief sentence will require no knowledge of esoteric Islamic texts to reveal the attempt at taqiyya.
A superficial reading of what are the main western complaints about the oppressions women suffered in Islam is the first step. After all, these errors in western opinion are organizers promise to educate us about during their awareness week.
I decided I would allow a Moslem to define what were the western misconceptions about moslem women's status. In a brief web search I located the web site Women, America, Myself And Islam via a brief google search. It was written by an American woman who converted to Islam. She states:
"I believed the myths and stereotypes common to many non-Muslims about who Muslims were and what Islam was all about. I watched the movie Not Without My Daughter with the belief that this was the lot of all women in the Middle East. I assumed all Muslims were Arabic (Arabs constitute the minority of Muslims today), that Muslim women wore black and walked five paces behind their husbands, that they were in servitude and under the thumbnail of oppression by a long-outdated patriarchy."
She movie she refers to features a husband who lures his wife to Iran under false pretenses. Once there he isolates her, physically and mentally abuses her, eventually she fears he'll divorce her and she'll lose custody of her child. She escapes her plight, not through the intervention of Islamic officials, but by being smuggled out of Iran. After mentioning the movie, the author of the piece again mentions the servitude and oppression of woman under a "long-outdated" patriarchy. Oh, she does mention dressing in black in passing.
So that is a recently converted Amercian moslem's view of what westerners think of the oppression of women in Islam -- beatings, mental abuse, isolation, servitude and oppression by men.
The taqiyya practiced by the event organizers is simple... ignore what westerners actually consider to be common moslem oppresive practices, and make the hajib and the veil the central theme of the week instead. There will be no discussion of the actual status of women in Islam, rather there will be a week of singing the praises of modesty and the chicness of black clothes.
It is a transparent redirection, mention the problem, define the problem as being something else entirely, then defend a trivial issue. Again the sentence:
"The treatment of Islamic women is one common Muslim practice that people point to as being oppressive, so the practice of women 'covering,' as Humkar called it, will be a central theme of the week."
Taqiyya.
Mike,
Ooops. LOL. I swear I wrote my post before I read the thread. Anyhoo... I must commend you for getting to the heart of the matter. ;-)
Robert--
Are you permitting Muslims to enter this contest? They would, of course, have an unfair advantage over the innocent Infidels.
I'm disqualified. But then again, if my folks knew the inner working of my mind, I'm well on the way to being a Kafir, or worse, a Munafiq!
So here's my stab at an instance of Taqiyya one could expect at this symposium:
"The hijab prevents rape and indecency towards women, that is so rampant in Western societies!".
No mention of how it is the man's crime to translate impure thought to vile action. Islam says, "lower your gaze" to men, but when it's black tents (or black portable-voting-booths, come Jan 30) that you'll be looking at anyway, where's the glory in curtailing the glaring?
As I've read on these pages once, paraphrased, "there is no glory in enforced virtue".
Just became aware of a great resource for finding the words of the Islamists...
www.islamistwatch.org
Get your quotes to prove this is al taqiyya straight from the horses mouth.
It is always 1000 times more effective to quote their own words.
Let's start at the beginning:
>>>>The terms "Islamic terrorist" and "Muslim extremist" are common in the news and public arena these days.
Not so often heard is the view of Islam that the Muslim Student Association will present to the UCLA campus this week. http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=14483_The_Anti-American_Academy_Again&only=yes
>>>>Muslim students will present their religion as a tolerant, just one and highlight the contribution Islam has made to society. http://www.dhimmi.com/victimsgallery.htm
They even took a nice Greek boy who was one of the greatest pop singers of his time and turned him into an overly earnest and boring nobody (who just might be funding terrorists). Where are you when we need you Cat Stevens?
>>>>Though the topics and the organizers may change from year to year, the purpose of the events remains constant – to educate the community on Islam and show that Muslims are not different from other students. http://mythopoet.blogspot.com/2005/01/al-taqiyya-ii-not-hypocrisy-how.html
>>>>One of the main points MSA will make this week is that Islam is not an oppressive religion, as it is sometimes perceived.
"We, as Muslims on campus, are out ... to reiterate that Islam is not a religion of oppression," said Adam Elsayed, a third-year transfer student and member of MSA who helped organize the events. "It's a religion of just rights." http://mythopoet.blogspot.com/2005/01/islamo-fascisms-holy-war-against.html
>>>>MSA will also use this week to highlight the similarities between Islam and Christianity by discussing the important role the figure of Jesus plays in each religion.
