Sneer quotes in the original AP headline. (Thanks to Kemaste for the link.) Anyway, so much for the idea that there are no more secret cells in the U.S. (Of course, it may be that the spokesman in that story was using "Al-Qaeda" in a restricted sense, contrary to the common tendency to use it in a very broad way.)
PORTLAND — The FBI knows of "jihadists" who have trained in terrorist camps in Afghanistan and are now living in Oregon, the agency's Oregon chief said in an interview with The Associated Press yesterday."We don't have an imminent threat that we're aware of. But I will say this: We have people here in Oregon that have trained in jihadist camps in bad areas. In the bad neighborhoods of the world," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Jordan.
Asked what he meant by "bad neighborhoods," he said Afghanistan, as well as several other countries he would not specify....
Jordan refused to say how many "jihadists" live in Oregon.
He said the FBI knows "they've trained overseas, taken oaths to kill Americans and engage in jihad," but the challenge is "to prove those things."
Jordan contrasted the known "jihadists" living in Oregon with the so-called "Portland Seven," a group of seven Portland-area people accused of plotting to wage war against U.S. troops in Afghanistan. One of them was killed in combat; the six others returned to Oregon, where they eventually pleaded guilty to all the charges against them.
that explains this story??

U. of Oregon Tells Driver to Remove 'Support the Troops' Magnet
NewsMax.com Wires
Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005
EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon is defending its decision to tell one of its delivery drivers to remove a ``Support Our Troops'' magnet from the state-owned truck he uses at work.
Oregon law prohibits personal messages on state-owned vehicles, regardless of the context. Several months ago, driver Pete Baker put the yellow ribbon magnet on the back of the state truck.
University officials learned of the magnet and said last week it had to come off, and Baker's story quickly found its way to radio talk shows and to several military Web logs.
``I don't know how they think these are political,'' Baker told Eugene television station KEZI last Friday. ``I think they are patriotic.''
University President Dave Frohnmayer said Tuesday that Baker will face no disciplinary action, and added that he was upset that the incident has led people to question the patriotism of the university.
``The excuse that some people take in events like this to question the patriotism of other Americans is frankly below the belt,'' he said.

"We don't have an imminent threat that we're aware of."
"That we're aware of." WTF?!
They take oathes to kill Americans and engage in jihad, and they're not AWARE this is an imminent threat??
I'm speechless!
"University President Dave Frohnmayer said Tuesday that Baker will face no disciplinary action, and added that he was upset that the incident has led people to question the patriotism of the university.
``The excuse that some people take in events like this to question the patriotism of other Americans is frankly below the belt,'' he said.
It is not something called the "university" that is being questioned. It is those who would force a driver to remove, for god's sake, a magnet that says -- not "Support our President" or "Freeedom Isn't Free" or "Let's Get the Job Done" but rather "support our troops." Even those of us who think the Iraqi venture at this point has become a colossal misallocation of resources -- men, money, materiel, troop morale, and attention -- as well as those who do not want to hear a word about any role that the ideology may play in how Muslims view the universe, Infidels, and their own role in that universe in dominating those Infidels "for Islam is to dominate and not to be dominated" -- should find no fault with "support our troops."
"Dave" Frohmayer -- whatever happened to the dignified days when university presidents had names such as Nicholas Murray Butler, incidentally -- claims it is "below the belt" to question the "patriotism" of someone who would demand that a magnet bearing the innocuous three words "support our troops" be removed. That belt is being worn awfully high up indeed for the purposes of claiming total immunity from perfectly cogent criticism. In "Dave's" case, he seems to be holding it in the air, above his head, and is talking as if he thinks it not only renders him impervious to criticism, but does double-duty, as a kind of brass-buckled halo.

PS
Turns out the guy who caused the Train Wreak was a mexican mulsum who was??
Surely Dave doesn't mean that the University isn't in support of our troops regardless of where they are stationed! If he doesn't support them, I would question his sanity for they stand between us and annihilation.
An old adage comes to mind " keep your freinds close and your enemy even closer".
Duh..... is another that comes to mind, here in my town ...... they wait, as well as yours and you know it dont you?
Are you lucky enough to have MS-13 in your neighborhood?
The number 13 depicates that letter of the alphabet........
Do you know they are in NJ also?
Yes folks they are already here, they crept in in the darkest hours of night while we slept.
"Patriotism is easy to understand in America. It means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country". ( Calvin Coolidge)
I wouldn't be surprised if the "jihadists" were hanging out at the "U of O."
Why not question patriotism? Bear in mind that this same Dave Frohnmayer had the temerity to support students who called Nike on the carpet for its "questionable" labor practices in Asia. No small feat considering that Phil Knight (Nike co-founder and Oregon alum) is U of O's biggest sugar daddy.

Dear FRONTLINE,
As an Anglo-American convert to Islam and an acting Imam I can certainly sympathize with your coverage of radicalized Muslims in Europe. I lived one year in Bradford, UK teaching in a traditional Pakistani mosque there. My experience there along with frequent trips to Germany exposed me to the various pressures placed upon Muslim immigrants and particularly second generation Muslim youth that engender intolerant and non-traditionalist interpretations of the Sacred Tradition that is Islam.
With that said, I felt your documentary still reenforced a 'seige and fear' message that much of Western media seems obsessed with. We need more attention given to the causes of Muslim distress and anger towards US policies, etc., not just the the resultant lashing out done by a few determined products of Modern Islamism.

COULD THIS BE OUR FRIEND??
I agree. Buy a gun, target practice, and protect your family. Islam go back to the desert sands.
