"Militant Islamists spook aid workers," from AP, with thanks to Doc Washburn:
UN and Indonesian officials yesterday said they would not scale back cooperation with the US military on tsunami-stricken Sumatra island, despite terror fears raised by the presence of an extremist Islamic group with alleged al-Qaeda links, and reports that one major aid agency said its staff had been ordered not to fly in US helicopters. The Laskar Mujahidin set up a camp in Aceh province and posted a sign that read -- in English -- "Islamic Law Enforcement." Its members said they have been collecting corpses, distributing food and providing Islamic teaching for refugees.
The presence of the extremist group, accused of involvement in Christian-Muslim fighting elsewhere in Indonesia, has generated fears that US military personnel and others doing relief work could become terror targets.
It also underscores the fine line that foreigners must tread between being welcomed as Samaritans or viewed as invaders in a country where suspicion of outsiders runs deep.
OT from an earlier thread (which my tired mind refuses to recall the title of):
Ar-Rahman
Not to inject further controversy into this, but it sounds a lot like Ahriman (not sure of the exact spelling, sorry). While I am sure there was an Original meaning to that name (which my tired mind is not ready to recall), the one that seems to stick in my head is the name of a demon.
Aussies,
Lets write to some TV and Radio shows and ask for open debate
Maybe the PC public aren’t quiet to withdraw aid from Muslim tidal wave survivors but they can demand to know it is out of reach of terrorists and Islamic propaganda machines, but we can ask how much did islamic countries give why are they let of the hook, why do we cower to the terrorists even in this emergency?
Also debate on the Victorian Vilification case, the end of free speech here. I don’t want to offend any Christians here on this forum, but Australia is not a very religious country. The Aussies, in general, are not keen or used too religion in their politics in the first place. There also does not seem to be much awareness of Dhimmi here either, I am concerned the Aust public will retaliate more at The Family First Party (a new Fundi Christian political party who came in last election out of no where) seems to have some connection with the Church in this case, then they will the Islamic Councils.
Why is Australia, the USA and Christianity vilified publicly and proudly, Is Islam, a protected religion to sensitive to debate ?
ABC Compass totally Dhimmi articles on Islam etc but still they need to become accountable ask for open debate or a Compass special on protected Islam

SBS Insight (Australia’s Multicultural TV Station) current affairs debate show. You can list a topic you would like to see up for debate. I posted here and it didn’t come up so maybe it needs to be very polite or they are still on holidays. A friend just told me that SBS had a report on TV the other night looking at ACEH and militias turning up in town to ensure that sharia is upheld with all of the infidels in the place.

No matter what we think of these shows and presenters they are the mainstream media.

Hardliners stop Aussie Aceh orphanage
January 8, 2005
A high-profile Australian charity headed by a Catholic priest has backed away from plans to set up an orphanage in tsunami-shattered Aceh after the plan enraged hardline Muslim groups.
Youth Off The Streets founder Father Chris Riley arrived in the provincial capital Banda Aceh with plans to set up a tent orphanage to house some of the estimated 35,000 Acehnese children with dead or missing parents.
The plan was backed with a $100,000 donation from NSW clubs and media mogul Kerry Packer's Nine Network funded Riley's trip.
But after the chief of the radical Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Hilmy Bakar Almascaty warned Youth of the Streets to stick purely to humanitarian work, Riley said the orphanage plan had only ever been a last resort.
If there were too many sensitivities involved, he was happy to drop the plan or funnel support into an Indonesian organisation, he said.
"Youth of the Streets has no religious basis at all," he said.
"It is Christian I guess, but we've got Muslims in our services in Sydney. There is never any conflict there.
I'm not going to force myself into a community like this and if they've got things in hand, so be it.
"We are going to look. If it means we look elsewhere or go back to Australia, I don't have any problem with that at all. It's predominantly Muslim so you accept that. We're not going to fight that."
The issue is sensitive in Aceh, which is the only Indonesian province to have fully implemented Islamic sharia law and said to be the veranda of the holy city Mecca.
Radical and mainstream Muslim organisations have warned against encroachment by other religions in the province and the Indonesian government last week barred orphan children from leaving the region to preserve Aceh's culture and future.
Jakarta said it would set up its own 1,000 place orphanage in Banda Aceh.
Riley said he had come to Aceh with NSW Labor MP Tony Stewart because there had been a worldwide "cry of help".
But if there no need for an orphanage or too many sensitivities involved, he would funnel assistance into an Indonesian organisation, he said.
"It doesn't really worry me which way we really go to be honest. I've got enough work in Sydney to do, but the cry was out there and the whole world has responded," Riley said.
Stewart said the Australian government had been aware of Riley's plan and neither the Indonesian embassy nor Australian foreign affairs officials had mentioned any concerns.
"I know that what occurs here over the next few weeks with Youth off the Streets involvement will be done in a complementary fashion with existing services and the charities that are working here," he said.
After visiting a refugee camp, Riley said the destruction in Banda Aceh had not been as extensive as he had initially feared.
"It hasn't been wiped off the face of the earth. Parts of it have," he said.
"If every kid in this place, even three orphans, are cared for here, the last thing I would want to do is take them out of here.
"If they can actually network it and bring a kid into an extended family or an alternative family, it's a much better alternative than an orphanage."
Hilmy's organisation, known as FPI, is known for smashing up bars and nightclubs in Jakarta and elsewhere deemed to be un-Islamic.
Australian travel warnings for Indonesia warn travellers about the "sweeping operations" the group conducts.
FPI is presently bringing thousands of volunteers to help in the reconstruction of Aceh and to guard against foreign influence brought in by the thousands of foreign military and aid workers now delivering humanitarian assistance to the region.

Hilmy Bakar Almascaty, head of the Islamic Defenders Front, said his radical group would resist any attempt at converting Acehnese to Christianity. He said Muslim groups would set up their own orphanages for minors who survived the tsunami but whose parents did not. (***)
How long before we have child jihadis in aceh
There is a report in The Sunday Mirror this morning about traffic in young children orphaned after this disaster. It is not featured in their on-line news website (not much news there at all really, but the football in good)so I cannot point you to the whole article. In brief they quote a UNICEF official who states that a route has been set up between Banda Aceh and Medan where children from the camps are reputedly being sold for profit. He says that some children may have been sold to grieving parents anxious to care for a child but that, it is feared, "others are being sold into child slavery and prostitution."
I guess the question would be: are the people doing the selling of any particular group, or just the usual riff-raff who take advantage of such things? And what beyond their own bank accounts is being funded by those sales?
FPI is presently bringing thousands of volunteers to help in the reconstruction of Aceh and to guard against foreign influence brought in by the thousands of foreign military and aid workers now delivering humanitarian assistance to the region.
Utter fooking bullshite,
And this is how the indonesian goverment is helping the victims, shipping in and feeding radicals/terrorist,while their military continues the war
I would also like to state that many of this slime are now eating better now than they have ever eatan before,Food that should be gopng into the mouth of many survivors who have lost everything
If the Indonesian goverment can not look after Acehnese without the help of Radicals then they should get the fook out. Also before the disaster the Acehnece did not want to be a part of Indonesia, and it is Indonesia that is hindering the aid to the a\Acehnese
This is just another sinister move by the
Jakarta Mega Maffia
And Indonesia is preparing to ship in 5000 more Jihadislime in the next few weeks
Indonesia lost a lot of troops in the disaster, these troops where fighting the rebels, now how much aid would go to Indonesia if reinforcements where sent in now to continue the war.So instead of the military being sent, they are allowing the jihadi,s in to help them. Thus getting max aid.
It should be noted it is not the Acehnese who are being sensitive about Islamic issues,it is the lackies of people very high up in the Indo Goverment.Rais,Haz and Susilyo and a whole pack of leeches. This has been going on since the fall of Suharto.
When Suharto was in power, the military was used to suppress any resistance to Jakarta. The present goverment can not do the same,so instead of the military going to the outer Islands to keep then under control,it is the Jihadis[the same groups that are now appearing in Aceh].The very same people who where killing raping circumsizing by force christians on Kalimantan,Suliwesi and the Malucas. This way Indonesia appears to be reforming and the funds roll in.So in reality the situation is worse today than under Suharto.
Suharto kept the Radicals down, where as the last few goverments have given them free reign
If the USA/UN really wants to help Aceh then the best thing to to is give the Acehnese what they
raelly want, and that is independence from Indonesia, and help them rebuild. If it is left up to Jakarta, the situation will only get worse, with aid going to Jakarta and the Jihadis.I sincerly believe the Acehnese would rather the USA to Jakarta. The Acehs have been at war with Jakarta for 40years now.So if Jakarta wants Aceh then they should be helping them, which they are not doing today when they are still hunting and killing the Acehs, and sending in terrorists who are hindering the people who really want to help the Acehs
If the FPI/Jihadis are hindering help getting to the old and young then they should be shot on site, the lives of the children who are suffering through no fault of their own,is more important than the murderers that are now flocking to Aceh. This skum have already committed enough crimes on other islands,to warrant being hung strung and quartered it is time they should be stopped.
Aceh is not only a disaster zone,it is a war zone, and this skum has already declared war on the USA.Some of these people have already been fighting in Afganistan. Also it would not come as a surprise if there are Afgans,Pakkis and Arab mixed in with them.
The chief of the radical Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Hilmy Bakar Almascaty wrote a jihad manual.
http://www.indonesiawatch.org/wednesday.php?news_id=32
Below is a paragraph from the introduction by the translator:
quote:"You will quickly realize that this is a terrorist manual, advocating terrorism, murder, sabotage, the overthrow of non-supportive Government and the forced subjugation of all humanity to Islam as the only pathway to world peace."
"You will quickly realize that this is a terrorist manual, advocating terrorism, murder, sabotage, the overthrow of non-supportive Government and the forced subjugation of all humanity to Islam as the only pathway to world peace."
Jasmine: thanks for posting this. It demonstrates two things: how stupid and warped this group and its followers must be, to need to precis this document thusly "you will quickly realize..." and juxtaposing "the subjugation of all humanity..." "...as the only pathway to world peace."
Can anyone reading this fail to see this is the Islamic equivalent of Mein Kampf?
I don´t know what to think, we want to help them beacause this group is a minority in the country but we have to lose our life for them, I remember the four priests that try to evangelize the moroccans in the XIII and they were killed, if we don´t know very clear if this life is only the beginning it isn´t worthy give the life.
I vote for a withdraw of the aid groups and americans in Aceh, is losing the time, greetings
thanks jasmine

"Its members said they had been collecting corpses..."
Something I'm sure they've had enough practice at during their ongoing war against the infidels in Indonesia.
How many new taliban-esque training centers we in the West are unwittingly funding with this indiscriminate show of 'compassion' will be discovered once the next wave of more serious attacks on the U.S., Europe and Australia begin.
A few millions secretly siphoned off from the current billion dollars being thrown at the tsunami relief can surely pry one loose nuke out of the hands of a poor, resentful ex-Soviet nihilist scientist?
And then we can all watch as NYC, LA, DC, London, Moscow, Sydney or Paris turns a charming shade of incandescent solar white- for about three seconds-and leaves a vast, glassy parking lot for the advancing armies of Allah.
Gary, never apologize for introducing controversy into a discussion. I suppose one of the best ways to determine what the accurate etimology of this word, or phrase, is to know what the name actually means in Arabic. If it has connotations toward mercy, then the "compassion" etimology could hold a stronger potential; however, if the word has another meaning that better suits "Ahriman" instead, then maybe your conjecture has more weight.
Is there anyone out there that can shed more light on the actual meaning of the Arabic name/meaning of Ar Rahman?

Congratulations on your Blog!Tried to leave a message but kept getting told my password was wrong... Do agree about money going to Terrorist
groups like Laskar Jihad instead of people who have lost everything. Am sure corrupt Indonesian Government will take the rest: they probably have a covert agreement with Terrorists anyway. Any talk that Indonesia is secular is a bad joke. Christians and other minorities have been attacked and systematically decimated for years.
No wonder Doctor Farrish Noor, darling of BBC and other Nazimedia, so called 'Expert' of Indonesian Affairs and Muslim, lives in the West.
The wretched people of Aceh are between a rock and a hard place with no end in sight of their sufferings.

But all are free to try.
Wanted to have a few thoughts about the nature of the central question discussed here daily locked in place for those doing related searches to find by 'serendipity' (original name of Sri Lanka, because it considered itself so blessed by geography):
Is there anything such as a 'holy' war?
Is 'jihad' a fatally-tainted concept?
I've debated it on Islamic sites (muslimswakeup!.com, -etc.) which proclaim to be open-minded and progressive, and usually end up being flamed, mocked, called ignorant of the finer shades of Koranic logic, and, most often-'played-dumb' to.
C'est la vie.
Or guerre, -depending on your point of view.
The contrast, to me, can be boiled down to the first lines of Aristotle's major work and the first line of the Koran.
"All humans, by nature, desire to know."
-Aristotle.
"This book is not to be doubted."
-Koran (Qu'ran).
An abyss no mind can honestly cross.
(Personally, I prefer a mind open to the unfolding universe, not closed into a 7th century henna-haired prophet's dogmatic guess.)
I urge the posters on this site to refer to the History of the last great tsunami to hit Indonesia.
Namely that of Krakatoa in 1883 and the ensuing bloodbath of dutch and christians at the urging of Mullahs, many of arabian peninsula origins.
Ther is much material on the net which can be googled.
Will history repeat itself? Certainly the sermons we are hearing now are similar to those preached after the last tsunami.
Again knowldge of history prepares us for what may very well happen today.
