Joseph D'Hippolito in FrontPage tells the sad story of the dhimmi Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Michel Sabbah:
Christmastime in Bethlehem does not stand for ”peace on earth” but for intensified jihad against the occupying Jews, as least according to the highest-ranking Roman Catholic prelate in the Holy Land.Michel Sabbah, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, has praised jihad, justified suicide bombing, and led marches at the behest of the late Yasser Arafat – leading some to question whose bidding the patriarch is doing.
Sabbah, an Arab and a native of Nazareth, expressed his collaborationist sympathies most forcefully during a visit to a refugee camp near Bethlehem in 1999. During that visit, the patriarch placed a wreath on a memorial to so-called “martyrs.” He then maintained that the right of return is “an existing fact that cannot be given up,” and declared that Israel’s “extracting our rights in all circumstances is a form of jihad” against the Palestinians.
However, he has not always objected to holy war. “Love is power and jihad and does not express weakness,” he told the newspaper Al-Quds.
Sabbah goes further by excusing suicide bombing as a legitimate response to Israeli policy. Sabbah said in a 2002 videotape to Palestinian Christians:
Ours is an occupied country, which explains why people are tired and blow themselves up. The Israelis tell Palestinians: Stop the violence and you will have what you want without violence. But one has seen in the history of the last ten years that the Israelis have moved only when forced by violence. Unfortunately, nothing but violence makes people march. And not only here. Every country has been born in blood.

NEWS FROM BELGIUM
The Belgium court decided that the person who threatened to kill the Belgium-Moroccan senator Bousakla is no danger and thus have released the man from custody. The man, a Belgium Muslim covert, said he would ritually slaughter the senator of the Belgium socialist party due to her criticism of radical imams and headscarves. Bousakla has police protection nowadays, but she told she was shocked to hear about the release of the radical Muslim.
The Greek Orthodox spokesman for Jerusalem is just as bad, and has defended suicide bombers:

Actor Richard Gere, "speaking for the entire world," urges Palestinians to vote By Israel Insider staff and partners January 4, 2005
Excerpt:
Even though he (Atallah Hanna, the spokesman of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem) evidently is not familiar with Hollywood superstars, Hanna has his own heroes, according to the Jerusalem Post, which quoted him as praising suicide bombers: 'These martyrdom freedom fighters are the heroes of the people and we are proud of them. We categorically reject suspicious attempts to cast suspicion on their deeds. They are not suicidal, as some are claiming. Nor are they terrorists, as others are claiming. They are resisting the occupation.' According to the report, he also called for the liberation of Palestine 'from the [Mediterranean] sea to the [Jordan] river.'
Atallah Hanna, is NOT the spokesman of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem.
He was fired after some of his statements and he only speaks for himself now.
Greek patriarch fires archmandrite Atallah Hanna over claims of supporting Palestinian terrorism
Palestine, Politics, 7/13/2002
The Greek Patriarch of Jerusalem Arinous 1st on Thursday fired Archamandrite Attallah Hanna from his post as an official spokesman for the Orthodox church in Jerusalem and the holy lands.
In a statement he made following a meeting he held on Thursday with an Israeli official at the headquarters of the Orthodox patriarchy in Jerusalem, the patriarch accused Hanna of "supporting the Palestinian terrorism," noting Hanna's rejection to sign a document condemning the Palestinian operations. Arinos stressed that his church can not ignore any side that practices violence, noting that Hanna supports the "Palestinian violence."
The patriarch announced appointing the Greek Rev. Afikhous as a spokesman for the church instead of its Arab spokesman ( Hanna ). He continued that any position to be made by Hanna as from now represents just his personal position and not necessarily the Orthodox church which voices its sympathy with the victims of terrorism and violence...

I nominate Michel Sabbah for Dhimmi of the Year.
Speaking of which, this WOULD make for a great contest. A scaling 1-3 vote would be fun, that way you can nominate more than one invertebrate. 3 pts. for 1st Place, 2pts. for 2nd Place, 1 pt. for 3rd Place. The winner gets a trophy with a chicken on it.
Of course, Michel Sabbah really deserves a Lifetime Achievement Award. Perhaps he could be our first entry into the Dhimmi Hall of Shame.
The phenomenon of the "islamochristian" (a word that deserves wider use), that is, a Christian Arab who identifies, out of fear or out of a belief that his "Arabness" requires a loyalty to Islam. Islamization by the Arab Muslim conquerors of Mesopotamia, Syria, and North Africa was a vehicle for Arab imperialism. This imperialism, the most successful in human history, convinced those who accepted Islam to also forget their own pre-Islamic or non-Islamic pasts. It caused them, in many cases, to forget their own languages and to adopt Arabic -- and in using Arabic, and in adopting Arabic names, within a few generations they had convinced themselves that they were Arabs.
Some held out. The Copts in Egypt today are simly the remannts of a population that was entirely Coptic, and that has suffered steady and slow asphyxiation. How many of Egypt's Arabs are in fact Copts who fail to realize this, much less have any sympathy or interest in how their Coptic ancestors, out of intolerable pressure, assumed the identity of Arabs?
In Lebanon, the mountains provided a refuge for the Maronites, by far the most successful group to withstand the Muslims. And most Maronites are quick to make the important distinction that, whilethey are "users of Arabic" that does not make them "Arabs." When they are ridiculed for claiming that they predate the Arab invasion (which of course they do) and are the descendants of the previous inhabitants of Lebanon, the Phoenicians, this idea is greeted with ridicule. But why? Where did the Phoenicians go? Did they just disappear? It is far more plausible to believe that the Maronites and the others in Lebanon are, most of them (for how many real "Arabs" actually came from the Arabian peninsula to conquer far more numerous populatons of non-Arabs?), the descendants of those Phoenicians. The Maronites recognize this; the Muslims do not, because for them the superior people, the people to whom the Qur'an was "given" and "in their language," are the Arabs. The sense of Arab supremacy comes not only from the fact that the Qur'an was written in Arabic (with bits of Aramaic still floating in it), but because the Sunna, the other great guide for Muslims, consists of, and is derived from, the hadith and the sira, and relfects the life of people in 7th century Arabia.
Thus one sees the forcibly-converted descendants of HIndus, the Muslims of India and Pakistan, full of supposed "descendants of the Prophet" who are identified by the name "Sayeed." It is as if, in the middle of a former British colony, say Uganda, black Africans gave themselves such names as Anthony Chenevix-ffrench or Charles Hardcastle, and dressed like remote Englishmen at Agincourt, or Ascot, and insisted, to one and all, that they were indeed lineal descendants of Elizabeth the Virgin Queen, or Hereward the Wake, or Ethelred the Unready. B
Yet, when those whose ancestors were forcibly converted to Islam (and force can be not military force, but the incessant and relentless pressure of dhimmitude, which will over time cause many to give up, and embrace the belief-system of the oppressor), adopt the names, and mimic the dress, and the manners and customs, which are essentially those of a distant time and place (Arabia, more than a thousand years ago), we do not smile, or think it absurd. A few Muslim "intellectuals" in East Asia occasionally suggest that this mimicry and inattention to local customs and ways, even local expressions of music and art, ought not to be sacrificed tot the Sunna of Islam, but to no avail.
And so strong is the power of Islam among the Arabs, so ingrained is their desire to ward off Muslim displeasure, that unless they do not feel themselves to be Arabs but a self-contained community (Copts, Maronites) that has managed to survive, they are very likely to reflect the Muslim views, and promote the Muslim agenda.
Nowhere can this be seen better than among the "Palestinian" Arabs. Michel Sabbagh is only one example. The Sabbagh who gave the $6.5 million to support Esposito's pro-Muslim empire at Georgetown (note to James V. Schall: can you convince Georgetown's administration to sever its now-embarrassing tie to Esposito? At some point he, and Georgetown, have to part ways, for the sake of Georgetown's reputation, and continued support from alumni) was a "Christian." The gun-running icon-stealing Hilarion Cappucci was, in name, a Melkite Catholic; he was, in his essence, a PLO supporter. Islamochristian promoters of the Jihad -- beginning with the Jihad against Israel -- include a few "Palestinian" Presybterians who have carefuly burrowed within, and risen within, the bureacracy of the Presbyterian Church in America (no names here, but you can easily find them out), and Naim Ateek, who comes to delude audiences of Christians about the "Palestinian struggle" even as the Christian population of the "Palestinian" territories has plummeted, since Israel relinquished control, from 20% tro 2% -- out of fear of Muslim "Palestinians."
Nor, of course, do Michel Sabbagh and his ilk pay much attention to the situation of Christians in the Sudan, or Indonesia, or Pakistan. Why would they? It would get in the way of their promotion of the Islamic attempt not only to reduce Israel to the dimensions that will allow them to go in for the final kill, but to seize control of the Holy Land. What, after all, do you think would happen to that Holy Land if Israel were to disappear? Do you think the Christian sites would be as scrupulously presserved? As available to pilgrims? Would Christians walk around Jerusalem, if it were under the rule of Muslims, with quite the same feelings of security that they do now?
No? Why not? And don't expect Michel Sabbagh to give you a truthful answer.
Michel Sabbagh - what a knobhead.
Michel Sabbah should be glad to read this:

Wait a minute - isn't this guy subject to decisions from the Holy See of Rome? Wouldn't that make this dhimmi and his vile statements the responsibility of the Pope?
So, JPII, what do you have to say about this?
I know, you're an old dude and all, but people say your mind is still sharp.
Oh, wait, I forgot - this is the pope who, when is isn't ignoring prancing pedophile priests in Philadelphia, spends his time kissing korans and sucking up to sheikhs.

You're right, the Holy See is ultimately responsible for not knocking the wheels out from underneath this loose cannon.
Apparently the Vatican has more important "image" problems to deal with...

Check out the section 'COLLABORATIONIST CHRISTIANS':
"Collaborators are recruited among Christians who identify themselves as Arabs. This type of collaboration, which caused endless fratricidal battles over the centuries, has been denounced by dhimmis struggling for centuries against an Islamic domination that progressed with the help of Christians..."
And Michel Sabbah is in the vanguard.

You are right Mike, Michel Sabbah is stuck in the Dhimmi mind set, which in many ways is the same as the "slave" mindset. He is exhibiting "slave thinking", he doesn't even know anymore that he is a free man.
Hey everyone,
Sorry I haven't answered your e-mails yet. I will soon. The flu has struck and I can't seem to get too far from the bed. I want my Mommy and chicken soup, NOW!
I will post an update real fast,
1. Mike is going to get information together on the various church headquarters/and information on violence against women.
2. Rabbit is putting together a web site we can use to post information, etc.
3. Son of walker is getting the leaflets together.
4. Rublev is going to get information together and format a letter for us on stricter immigration laws to send out to Congress.
5.Rikki is ready to distribute material in England.
6. Kelly mentioned getting a library project together to counter the project that CAIR has to place books on Islam in them.
We still need the following:
Someone to look into the day time talk shows, suggest a show to Oprah on reporters and authors getting sued for questioning Islam by CAIR. Suggest a panel, Robert, Daniel Pipes, Andrew Whithead etc.
Someone to look up information on "friendly" free press sites/web sites that we can submit articles by Robert, Hugh and DC Watson, plus other contributors from the site.
If Andrew is available, I'd like to get him to gather information on quotes from the Quran and quotes from various Muslim leaders. Show cause and effect on how the Quran is used to incite violence.
Someone to look into radio talk shows. Again we need to see what "friendly" sites there are to get Robert on them.
Throughout Europe and Australia, we need to get the same sort of information from members there.
From Canada, if Shiek Canuck and Ala Sux could put togeter information on Sharia law and how it will effect Canandian law and the loss of freedoms. Cause and effect.
I'd like to try to have everything by Mid-March, to pass along to everyone and start distribution of all the information we have.
I know there is more, but I can't get my brain wrapped around it.
I'm heading back to bed, will check in later.
Susan_b, don't strain yourself! Get better first - lots of blankets, hot drinks (vitamin C and stuff), and as much sleep as you can get. You'll be better able to work after. All the best, Fieldvole.
In Australia there seem to be two main issues:
The Victorian religious vilification case we have all seen here, I don’t want to offend any Christians here on this forum, but Australia is not a very religious country. The Aussies, in general, are not keen or used to religion in their politics in the first place. There also does not seem to be much awareness of Dhimmi here either, I am concerned the Aust public will retaliate more at The Family First Party (a new Christian political party who came in last election out of no where) seems to have some connection with the Church in this case, then they will the Islamic Councils.
The second issue is where is our Tidal Wave Aid money going, here again the public are caught up in the emotion of all the suffering and the supposed new loving ties with Indonesia as Oz hands over so much money.
