Russian officers arrested over Beslan siege

Explosive revelations from a Russian parliamentary commission. But no word in this report as to the nationality or religion of the officers. From ABCNews Online, with thanks to Anthony:

The chair of the commission says two highly-ranked military officials have been arrested after allegations they provided assistance to the gunmen.

He says other officials, who are ranked major and above, may also be charged.

It is speculated that they could have helped the gunmen indirectly by allowing them to pass through police checkpoints.

Russia has refused to learn from the beslan tragedy and has embraced the way of evil cloaked in realpolitik. By actively assisting the likes of syria and iran in their quest for WMD, Russia has forfeited any claim to sense and sensibility.

Also, one hears of ominous rumblings of naked anti-semitism rearing its ugly head in the Russian Duma tehse days...

VOLETTI
Remember all the Big Powers play the same games.Who armed the Taleban, the Muslims of Bosnia
and Albanian thugs in Kosovo - was good ol' U.S.??
Who armed and kept Saddam dictator of Iraq for decades? One thing Putin understands is the Ideology and threat of Islam and if Bush was more intelligent
[which he ain't] plus he[Bush] is in hock to Saudis,
he would more closely ally himself with Russia.
Vlad had to fight his way to the Kremlin unlike Bush who got to the Whitehouse on family [and Saudi] millions. Russia is a huge country with huge problems and needs someone like Putin at the helm. No, I have not become a Commie. But personally like Russians I have met and admire Putin's strategy in dealing with problems Russia faces. He is playing a game on Syria to see how many concessions he can wring from U.S. So what, does not U.S do the same....

I'm thrilled Morgane likes Russians -- being 50% myself.

I might point out that Bush got to the White House vis-a-vis the electoral college.

Putin's strategies to deal with Russian problems amount to authoritarianism combined with government take-over of the energy industry. Russia took a few hesitating steps forward under Gorbachev and Yeltsin. It seems Putin has a hankering for attempting to put the genie back into the bottle. The best hope is that Putin will have a change of heart in the direction he is going. Russians are after all very pragmatic in the end.

Inside help and it was the police hmmmmmm.....still a tragedy no matter how it turns out to be responsible.

we'll see how the Russian Justice handles this, hopefully better than Britain did.

I'll say this for the Russians: they have the right idea in dealing with terrorists. They have arrested the families of the terrorists who perpetrated the Beslan obsenity. No one knows where the family member are or how they are. One should recall this is not the first time the Russians have used this tactic. A number of years ago a few Russian diplomats were kidnapped in Lebanon. The Russians took the families of the kidnappers hostage and said that if their diplomats were not released, neither would the families be. The diplomats were released.

Terror is the intentional targeting of the innocent in order to gain an advantage over an adversary. One must fight terror with terror. The terrorists have made it clear they are willing and even anxious to die for their cause. Apparently, they are less willing or anxious to see their families die. We in the U.S. should employ these tactics.

Obviously, I do not anticipate being appointed Attorney General and going though congressional confirmation hearings.

If the Western was united against islam like it was with apartheid, the islamism will die, but It happens

Lawrence Auster writes about a 4th generation war where one of the opponents is something other than the armed forces of a state.

Fight the near war from afar, the far war from near......very interesting to read......"Erasing America"
