Dawa, Taliban style: this is the story of Zablon Simintov, the last Jew in Afghanistan, from "Afghan Jew Becomes Country's One and Only" in the Washington Post, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
Moreover, the former carpet trader said he had spent years watching Afghanistan's once vibrant Jewish populace shrink to virtually nothing. The community dated back 800 years and still numbered 5,000 in 1948, but most remaining families fled the violence and repression that followed the Soviet invasion of 1979....The Taliban government, which was in power when Simintov returned to Kabul in 1998 after working for several years in Turkmenistan, did not look kindly on his faith. On many occasions, he said, Taliban officials carted him and Levin off to jail, where they were beaten with electric cables and rifle butts for days.
"The Taliban would shout at me, 'Why don't you convert to Islam?' And I would say, 'Not if you paid me one million dollars,' " Simintov recalled.
The Taliban was ousted by U.S.-led forces in 2001. The fact that both remaining Jews survived the Taliban's five-year reign is something of a miracle. Taliban authorities, determined to stamp out practices they considered un-Islamic, outlawed music, whipped men who failed to grow long beards and demolished two enormous Buddha statues that were carved into a cliff 13 centuries ago.
Kabul's synagogue, an unassuming, white-washed building that was erected around a small courtyard on Flower Street 40 years ago, may have escaped a similar fate because it was so modest, and also because it was deserted and in disrepair when the militia came to power after a four-year civil war that virtually destroyed Kabul.
Still, in 1998, after Levin and Simintov were released from their first detention, they found the Taliban had ransacked the synagogue for almost all items of value it still contained, including a silver pointer and four tiny silver bells. A few months later, a Taliban commander confiscated its last, most precious treasure: a handwritten Torah scroll that Simintov estimates was about 400 years old....
"I didn't want anyone to finish the Jewish name in Afghanistan," he said. So he stayed on, trading carpets and handicrafts to support the wife and two daughters he had sent to Israel. But in 2001, he said, Taliban customs officials robbed his warehouses of all his supplies.
"I have nothing. I live like a dog," he complained. Now, having resisted leaving Afghanistan for so long, Simintov said he may consider joining his family in Israel. "This is the last house of the Jews," he said.

I can't make my mind up about this issue.
On the one hand, I agree with the need to make people aware of just what it is that they are supporting, be it a religion, ideology, of political party.
There is a problem though. These people believe their scriptures are the literal word of God. Therefore, if they are informed of the most brutal parts of their scriptures, rather than thinking "This can't be the word of God" they could react with "Oh dear. We've been really bad and not following the word of God" and act on the brutality more than is happening now. So mass information on those scriptures could be a game of Russian Roulette.

Subhanallah! I have visited Palestine! I have witnessed a child kicked in the face by a Yahood! I have seen a teenager shot in the shoulder! I have seen Muslim Sisters having their Hijab pulled from their head! I have been in the middle of protests when the enemy started firing tear-gas and bullets at us!

All joking aside though, if after having been whipped and beaten for days, wouldn't you take a chance and try to make a living for your wife and daughters in Israel instead of vying for the title of "Last Living Jew in Afghanistan?"
In Afghanistan, he serves no purpose other than being a representative of those to be humiliated, robbed, and maimed as instructed in the Koran. In Israel he will take up a space that then cannot be taken up by an Arab Moslem trying to sneak into the country [playing the demographic card].

This is a story that has been replicated elsewhere in the Middle East regarding the decimated Jewish population -- Pakistan, Iraq, Iran etc., etc.

The new action/information site is done now.
We're opening it up to the members first for a first look.
The idea behind this site is to work hand in hand with Jihad Watch.
From the news we get there and other sources, we can then go to
Co-Jet, get background information, ready made forms/letters/briefs
to hand out or mass mail.
This was phase 1.
Getting the format together

Some of the articles can be downloaded directly from the site and used as flyers.
Go through each section, open all the articles. There are links within links.
Phase 2.
We have a basic committee set in place. What we now need are sub-committees. Everyone has a subject that means more to them than others. What we would like to do is match people together to work on a particular topic. You will now become the reasearchers/reporters.
From each group, we would like one person to head it. All information gathered by the group will go to the head of that group, they will filter what has been sent in and then pass it forward.
We need those people that are particularly good at writing briefs/letters to form one group. As, issues come up, we would need this group to get the documents together to send out.
For our members overseas, again, I would like to form groups that will divide the research/writing.
Look the site over, give us your feedback, think about how each of you would like to participate and let us know through the contact link on the site.
Phase 3.
Rabbit and I put up the initial funds to buy the proxy server and get the site started. In order to upgrade and include a comments section with typekey registration, we do need donations.
The goal is for this to become the one site where people can get information and to educate the public. To take action. To distribute literature, petition our representives/office of the President on issues of vital importance to our security, to stop the spread of Islam in our schools and to keep our rights.
We also want to make this truly a group effort and seek to include everyone, in any form you care to contribute, be it, with research, distrubution of information, letter writing, going into other web/blog sites and posting information about the site/donations.
